Ordered Teriyaki chicken & beef bento box - They used white meat instead of a dark meat chicken. Edo tasted better.Also tried their sushi boat , its ok not much to get excited about.Dont order ceasar (cocktailas its really spicy and can barely taste tomato.Not an instagramable place as they dont have any japanese booths or anything, its like eating on a dim cafeteria.Servers are nice tho and food were quickly served.

My family and I were traveling back from our vacation resort when we found this incredible place. The food was amazing. The service was great and the udon noodles were my absolute favourite. I would definitely come back if I have time.

No flavor/bland - Fish didnt feel fresh relative to other places in town (mushy and off tasting at times).This was my second time trying. First time was a few weeks ago and was just as bad during lunch time.

We arrived to the restaurant 30 mins before closing and they were happy to seat our family of 3 and serve us an incredible meal. The toro was the best I have ever had and we left full and happy. I highly recommend to anyone. This was some of the best sushi we have ever had and we eat a lot of sushi. Thank you for a great meal. EAT HERE!

I just arrived here from Vancouver and although they were closing up, the sheff got me a table and allowed me to order my food. Really some tasty sushi!

We ordered a platter of sushi rolls. It was very bland, all tasted similar. My wife compared these to supermarket sushi rolls and I agree.

Really good sushi. Was pleasantly surprised being from Vancouver. We ended coming 2 days in a row. Brown Rice available for your rolls! Highly recommend. Right by the beach!

Our sushi was excellent. Side of Kimchi excellent. Our big complaint was the Katsu. Breading was soggy with whatever sauce/egg thing they just tossed on top. It shows some kind of kitchen disconnect where the sushi is carefully constructed with fine ingredients but the cooked food fell so short. The wait staff was pleasant but I guess they were training new folks and they had a little fiasco which, I suppose, added some awkward entertainment.

Great experience. Second time coming here. Good prices, great presentation, prompt service, nice decor, and tastes great. They also gave us complimentary chocolates, and some extras like teriyaki salmon placed on top of the sushi

- California Rolls had more cucumber than crab meat I could not taste the crab in some of them- Hot sushi and cold sushi were packed together- Sushi in two seperate packages were squished into the wasabi-Rice was gooey

UPDATE April 24, 2021After eating for many years and many many times, watching the original owners grow their sushi business from a Deli front on Main to their location of Front St, our family was a little apprehensive about the new owners that took over. Today was test day.First off, we noticed they are now open straight through from 11am to 8pm as opposed to before where they closed for an afternoon break between the lunch rush and dinnertime. Perfect, we often crave a quick fix for sushi at 3pm after picking up kidlet from school.We ordered our usuals which is their well priced karaages (deep fried), their tempura, California roll, nigiri and tuna and salmon sashimi. We were pleasantly surprised the new owners were obviously trained by the old owners to carry on the traditions, As for the karaage, my daughter and I agree, its the same but a little better than before. I think they refined the seasoning combo a little.Conclusion, we were happy the new owners are careful to not alienate their customer base and we will definitely be back to support them!(2020This is a great little gem of a sushi restaurant in Penticton. The restaurant is owned and operated by a Japanese family. Their prices are reasonable and they have great bento lunch boxes. Fresh and well portioned. Definitely recommend.

Take out was so delicious, that I felt the need to review. Their sauces are spectacular. We ordered a ton of items, everything was fresh, perfectly prepared and the tempura was even crunchy despite the car ride home. They did make a mistake with my nigiri order and sent Fish Roe instead of Unagi, so theres still room for improvement, but all in all, I will be ordering here all summer. Thanks for the delicious meal!

Was very excited to try isshin so I got the Tonkotsu ramen and salmon oyako roll, the ramen isn’t too bad but sadly wasn’t up to my standards, it was very bland, I got the kimchi with it as well but it somewhat tasted like sweaty pork water and the rolls were not good, in 2 pieces I pulled out about 5 or more bones from the salmon, I could only finish one more of the rolls because I kept gagging from the bones and unpleasant taste, I have not had an experience like this with any other sushi or ramen place so im greatly disappointed because I spent 40$ on it, I will stick with kojo/Koya from now on because they are cheaper and have better food.

I was recommended this restaurant during my trip to Penticton by a local friend. I had a pleasant surprise with the quality of food (Rolls, Ramen, Udon and Sunomono). I will visit here every time when I am visiting Penticton.

I can confidently say this is the best place to get sushi in Penticton! the crunchy spicy salmon roll is my all time favourite. You can tell the owner, Shaun is passionate at what he does for a living! He’s always so warm and welcoming and makes our experience extra special. The chefs never fail to impress! They make their food with love…It’s always a wholesome time coming to Isshin. For the mind and the belly.

I remember moving to Penticton with my girlfriend and trying out all the sushi places, Isshin stood out above the rest, spectacular Food and beyond friendly staff! They make their food with love. Everything we have eaten from there has been amazing, seriously good quality sushi, and the best spicy mayo Ive had. Shaun does an amazing job running that place and its always a joy to see him.

Excellent service, mediocre food. Got the #1 Bento box - the sushi, tempura and miso soup were decent. The sunomono salad and chicken teriyaki were so disappointing I threw them out after the first couple bites.

Everytime we come here were disappointed. Got a roll with actual finger indents in the rice. Last time we came we got up to go pay as they were taking a long time to bring the bill and we had other engagements to get to, as we have to socially distance for safety we had to wait beside the bar seating to get to the place to pay, got barked at by a young guy working behind the bar that if we had already eaten at the restaurant we could not sit on the stools at the bar, we were confused as we were simply just standing there making no movements that we were even attempting to sit down. For mediocre at best sushi, would not recommend definitely better places in town.

I am usually wary of restaurants that serve "Asian" cuisine, but Isshin exceeded my expectations. Despite being understaffed, service was quick and the food was of excellent value. We ordered the rolls combo and sashimi & nigiri combo, which we enjoyed, though the rice was a bit mushy and warm in the former and the side salad was a bit overdressed. They had plastic utensils for my toddler, which was a nice touch! Will definitely come back!

7:30pm and we were craving sushi. I decided to call them first to see if we can still do dine in. The guy picked up the phone and address me by my name. He said yes come in we can make room for you. I said great see you in about five mins.We arrive 5 mins later and as we walked in a guy said Danny? Yes I said. Come in we have table ready for you. It was a full house for a Wednesday night.We ordergreen tea...delicious...Shirley Temple...delicious...2 Deep fried Cali rolls.... deliciousSeaweed salad...deliciousCali roll with cream cheese...deliciousSushi bento box...all items...deliciousSpicy tuna cone...deliciousMiso soup...delicious—————Total came to $55I assumed it would be more as the portion was large.The service was great from the phone call to in-house dinning. All staff very friendly and it showed. As guess were leave everyone said food was best/delicious and thanked the staff and chef!I highly recommend this place for taste, service and great experience.Would I come back? Absolutely. I am biased. Isshin is like family. We eat there often. You look around and it is a cross section of Penticton. People and their kids. Folks in suits..or shorts n sandals. If you drink alcohol you pay the usual. Have tea and you are out for under $30 for two.

Coming from Vancouver I have certain expectations. Good : Prices reasonable and the salmon sashimi was fresh with decent portions . Avoid : Maki sushi. Mostly rice with extra rice. Small amounts of fish etc. Pretty lacklustre . Stick with Kojo if you want better Maki.

Sushi rolls taste so good. Only some part of fried tuna too dry and hard.

My wife and I just ordered take-out. By far the BEST sushi weve had in a long time!! It was absolutely amazing. The portions were huge. Price was good and the people at the restaurant were super nice. Will definitely be back. Highly highly recommend!!

Service was fast, portion sizes large. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. I ordered the spinach gomae and beef pho.

Dirty tables when I came in and not many people there was not very inviting.Ive never had such horrible Unagi or prawn tempura. Also the spinach wasnt very good.I must say though that the Sunumono salad was very good and the rolls were amazing.

This food is good! I especially like their Poke. You wont be disappointed.

AMAZING sushi, and very accommodating staff here! Prices are extremely reasonable for the portion and taste. Plenty of vegan options on the menu! Very satisfied with the experience here, and will be back again soon.

This place has delicious sushi and some creative combo options which I appreciate and tge decor and atmosphere is modern and relaxed. The selection and quality of non-sushi items is also good which is great when youre dining with those who dont like sushi.
