Relaxed nook with hip decor turning out creative puff-pastry waffles with savory & sweet fillings.
First time eating here, more like a pic up and go place not a lot of dine in area.. not really kid friendly. The waffles were not all that good, tasted like flavors were being forced together...also expensive it was like eight dollars just for three bottle drinks....just wasnt for me
great hole in the wall breakfast joint with a great sense of humor and better breakfast. parking is a little iffy, so might be better delivered, but they do offer indoor seating.
Banging Spotify playlist: check. Quality, genuine grub: check. Solid cold brew: check.Only thing that struck me as strange was the ordering situation. At least when I went, you order on a tablet a few feet away from the coffee bar and kitchen.
This place was delicious! Small place but big flavors. My husband and I stopped here for lunch and it was perfect. Our sandwiches were delicious and our coffee drinks were perfect. Highly recommend. The Staff was friendly and hard working getting everyone’s orders done.
Ive ordered from here a few times now. The food is always delicious, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. One time they were even kind enough to remake a coffee that I ordered incorrectly. I will definitely be going back and would highly recommend.
Amazing gluten free waffle sandwiches, love the chorizo one. Bit on expensive end for breakfast, good coffee and paffle is about $18
The food is so good and unique! I would definitely eat here again!
SO delightful! Flaky puff pastry as a waffle is incredible and they have so many different options! The fried tofu is super crispy like fried chicken. Incredible place.
It was all self serve, self order, very confusing, paper cups , plastic wrap around food , food and trash all over floor , plastic silverware, no refills. For 5 star would like to be waited on and refills.
First time here, service was bad, staff was relatively unhelpful, then let the food sit on the counter for at least 30 minutes... the sandwich(supposed to be hot was cold, the staff said sorry next time well label your bag so it wont happen... there will not be a next time.... the cold sandwich tasted decent but overall not worth the headache
Great concept in theory and super flakey puff pastry waffles BUT the “made to order” sandwiches were soggy and had a sad amount of filling in them. They looked nothing like the pictures I saw posted on google reviews when I check them out. I included a picture of the cannoli paffle we ordered as well as a make your own order (bacon, caramel and chocolate saucethat had exactly once piece of bacon crumbled up and was soggy with chocolate suace. I also ordered an orange creamsicle latte in addition to the paffles and thought that was different but good!
Delicious! I had blueberries and whipped cream, and my boyfriend had chicken and paffles. The pastry has a satisfying texture and makes the food here a unique experience. The employees seemed very nice, too. I highly recommend giving this place a try!
Came here with a friend on a Saturday morning & it was delicious and very good service. Ordered the gluten free version, would definitely come back again next time in town.
Random stop in town and we were blown away. Flavors of the food and drinks were out of this world. If you’re in time for the seasonal ube latte, just get it. It’s great iced
These paffles are wonderful! They taste delicious!! I highly recommend everyone come here at least once.
So good! Made my own savory sandwich and it was great.
I have celiac disease with extremely high sensitivity to gluten. They have an option in their online ordering specifically for gluten free celiac. I got the TB-A-LT on gluten free waffles. Not only was it very yummy, I also did not get contaminated and felt wonderful all day. Overall, I was extremely pleased. It’s also just a very cool place with great vibes. Highly recommend for celiacs and otherwise.
Finding a place for a toddler with EoE that can not have dairy or gluten to eat is normally impossible. We were in town for an appointment and I was pretty unhopeful Id find anything but I came across this gem online and the fact that they cater to so many sensitivities and its waffles?? My son loves waffles! It was a little pricey but Im willing tospend more to make sure my son has safe food to eat. We dont come to Charlottesville often.. maybe once a year. This is our new go to. I got the chorizo paffle and it was soo good. 5/5 stars. Only thing Id change is the fact that it was so hot in there.
Very delicious! I had the Nutella banana and my partner had the waffles with eggs bacon and sausage. We loved them both and we are quite picky about waffles!
Got the breakfast waffle sandwich with eggs and bacon but the cheese was very overpowering, wouldn’t recommend. I was very disappointed about the coffee, I got an iced latte and added vanilla flavoring to it, but they added way too much flavoring that it was just undrinkable. Don’t think I’ll be coming back sadly
Pleasantly surprised, as I did not know what I would be expecting. The staff walked us through the menu, and the food came quickly. Flavors are good, would go again.
Many good breakfast staples to place between two waffles here. The number one with chicken and grits was amazing. Quick and friendly service. Opens on time.
We just ordered from here the other day for thr first time. It was a great experience. The food combinations were amazing. The staff was friendly. It was affordable and well worth the price. Ill definitely be returning.
A must try if in the area. Flakey, perfectly chewy waffles made into savory sandwiches or enjoyed as sweet treats. Great coffee, quick service, absolutely the best hangover food. This is our second time trying Iron Paffles while in town. Husband had a savory, I made my own with egg, cheese, bacon, and tomato. He devoured his so quickly I couldn’t get a picture in time. Mine was absolutely to die for, even if it was a tad basic. The egg was warm and fresh (scrambled), the cheddar was the perfect amount, and they loaded up on the bacon. I wish the tomato was warmed, but I know some people really hate warm tomatoes, so no points lost. The waffles are pastry like, so they’re fluffy and flaky, not dense like Eggos. They don’t get soggy with the sandwich fillings which is super nice and aren’t sweet like a typical breakfast waffle. We also split one of the Sweet waffles, Iron Maiden, which had Nutella and bananas with a light dusting of sugar. TO DIE FOR. So, so, so good. Packed with bananas and Nutella, and while it was very sweet, it was VERY good.Coffee is great, both drip and espresso drinks. Orders come out pretty quick (5-10th maxand freshly made. Highly recommend stopping by when in town!
Iron Paffles & Coffee is a fantastic little spot, offering waffle sandwiches made with puff pastry dough. We ordered the Fried Chicken & Iron Glory sandwiches, both of which were made quickly and were both delicious. We also got a hazelnut latte and a mocha, both were made as expected. Pricing was affordable, staff was friendly, seating is somewhat limited (I could see 4 tables for up to 12 people, and bar-top seating). Definitely recommend!
Hey Friends;Absolutely the best Waffle Youll ever eat away from home. I recommend the "Machine" so hot and yummy in my tummy youll wish you had 2! Recommended from anywhere ~V. 🇺🇸
Literally some of the best food I’ve ever had. I made a custom sandwich with egg, avocado, Mac n cheese, tomato and hash brown. So good!!
Food was okay definitely not worth the price. More of an experience than a breakfast. Dont get maple syrup unless youre wearing a bib lol. Mac and cheese was not worth the price. Granted we ordered in door dash and it was all cold but i dont think warming it up would improve it.
Great experience, staff was wonderful and helpful.Food was "good". I felt the pastry itself was a different experience, but didnt add the "experience". It did exactly what I anticipated, crumbled everywhere. Also, I felt the sauce overpowered the contents of the sandwich itself, leaving me wondering where the taste of the meat, onions, eggs, vegetable was.Coffee was 👍, Real Pumpkin Spice Latte is legit and a must try! Gonna try the Caramel Apple Latte next 😏.Again, food was good, but I felt a lack of "new experience" or take on common dishes. Maybe next time, 🤷♂️.
I added a bunch of stuff (fried chicken, fried egg, arugula, turkey, cheese. I loved it but the only downfall is the chicken could use a little more seasoning, wish the waffles were a tad thicker & the maple syrup I asked for got all over me. I would still return though. Very nice staff + pretty quick. Thanks!
Chicken and waffles are great, and in that vein, paffles are even better! Easy to order online, and staff is always working hard to prepare food. Its always hot and delicious, and their different menu items are paired well with different flavors. Even got to try the specialty pumpkin butter/whipped cream creation, which was awesome. Also, try the sweet potato hash (pictured).
Sorry I dont have photos, I finished the food as soon as I sat down. The waffles are flaky and fluffy like a croissant. I love the build your own option. Be sure to order ahead if you can.
The food is delicious! The space is cramped and you have to order on your phone. Their website is not very android friendly which made it a bit frustrating. Order from home and get it to go.
Very good food, pretty fast serviceThe only reason its 4 stars instead of 5 is that the ordering system is frustrating and difficult to use (expect to spend 5 more minutes trying to figure it out)
The sandwich is good, but definitely not worth the price. The pros are that it’s unique - the waffle is puff pastry texture, and puff pastry waffle sandwiches are rare. The taste overall was quite good - I got the choriz and subbed the chorizo for fried chicken, and got sriracha mayo instead of the aioli. Taken together, the flavors worked quite well together and I recommend that combination. Their coffee was also really good - I’d give that alone 5 stars. I got a caramel iced coffee with oat milk (extra $1), and it was flavorful and bold, which I recommend. The biggest drawback is the price - its $9 for a sandwich that is quite small, and probably won’t fill you unless you’re trying to get a snack to tide you over. Nothing comes with it except for the sandwich (I.e. no chips, fries, or drink included). I got 2 sandwiches and an iced coffee and the total was ~$25, which I don’t think was worth the price. Their aioli is quite lemony and adds an...interesting flavor and aftertaste to the sandwich overall, which can be avoided by getting the sriracha mayo instead. Atmosphere is lacking - it’s definitely a get in and get out kind of place. Also I should also warn you that the sandwich is quite messy. Due to the texture of puff pastry, it falls apart and it gets everyyyywhere when you bite into it - so don’t go eating this before an interview!Overall, it’s nice to try, but I wouldn’t go there expecting to be full off the meal without really shelling out the dough.
I love that they make everything to order. Gluten free paffle seems like a real waffle whereas the regular is more flaky pastry. Great choices all around with savory or sweet options for your sandwich. I like to create my own instead of choice the premade. The tofu scramble has a secret ingredient of asparagus inside. Delicious coffee drinks too. Rose or lavender latte. They also have a star reward system so you can earn a free coffee or paffle if you reach ten stars; it keeps track with your phone number and texts you when you meet it. Just a little bit pricey for the local ingredients and mto effect. Small restaurant, but taking it to go and eating it at the IX art park nearby is nice.(The picture is of a sweet paffle - it has blueberry compote on it - also its after Ive eaten a good bit of it ;)
Was craving some vegan mac n cheese and this was the only place I knew of that has any in Charlottesville so I ordered a sandwich (which I didnt get the pickles I paid for onnot to mention the super tiny little sliver of a tofu patty that came on the sandwich which I supposedly paid an extra 50 cents to make spicy. (There was no spice)But the real kicker was the extra $2.50 I paid for this pictured 1.5oz of mac n cheese. I went there because I was craving vegan mac n cheese. So I bought a side. I find that at most places a side is a good scoop, a small salad, a potatoe - in other words a substantial amount of food.Iron Paffles & Coffee charged me $2.50 for a food court sample bite of mac n cheese.2/5 for having vegan options 👍
Absolutely lived up to the Instagram hype. 😍 We loved our fried chicken paffles! 🤤 Great pitstop before hitting the trails.
Wow. Fried chicken + cheese grits + a little arugula + a little maple syrup ( it came in a separate cup and I was skeptical at first and didnt want the mess but after applying syrup I was in heavenbetween two flaky pastries. Wow. Also had a simple but decadent banana nutella, and a sweet rich cannoli paffle. The mocha was great. The lavender latte was great. The price was great. The staff recommended IX park for sitting to eat, which was unique and memorable recommendation for us coming from out of town. 6 stars out of 5.
Fantastic place. I got the Iron Grill (I thinkand it was awesome. They were out of sausage, so the added extra bacon (you can never go wrong with more bacon). Waffle was light and flaky.
This place is Amazing!! So good, so allergy aware. Gluten free, dairy free options. Waffle is so light. Vegan hot chocolate is the best on the planet!
The Paffle sandwiches we had were delicious and worth the wait. 5 stars for the food aloneIt did however, take about 30minutes to get our order from the time we entered, the two poor girls working there were working their butts off and could have definitely used another couple pairs of hands, owners should hire some additional help.
Stopped by for breakfast on a Friday morning and was pleasantly surprised. I had the Iron Glory with a Cold Brew and both were delicious! My girlfriend follows a gluten-free diet and the staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. The interior is cozy with a large single table meant to be shared by patrons and plenty of high-top bar style seating.Pictured: The Gluten-Free Iron Glory :)
We were looking for a place to catch breakfast on the way back from the mountains and into NoVA and thought Charlottesville was a good place to take a pit stop. And boy were we right.Iron Paffles is amazing and the concept is one of the more unique that Ive ever come across. Pastry puffs as a shell instead of a waffle give a nice touch to anything that you decide to fill it with.I had a sandwich called The Machine (Paffles are also available open-faced). Steak, egg, caramelized onion, cheddar, and a house sauce. The house sauce was like a thousand island with a nice peppery-overtone to it. Really made the sandwich pop.My partner got a Create-your-own Paffle to better accommodate their diet since most options on the menu had something outside of their parameters. Iron Paffles is extremely accommodating and even have Vegan and Gluten-free options. All the options are available through the restaurant so have fun making your own masterpiece! As for coffee, we both opted for the Peanut Butter Mocha (which may be a seasonal item), but it was fantastic. Definitely on the sweeter side, but not overly so. Perfectly balances with a nice savory Paffle.All-in-all, this little gem on the outskirts of Charlottesville just off of I-64 is a must-stop for a quick bite for breakfast, brunch, or lunch.
Best thing on Earth! Absolutely delicious!! Light and flaky waffle, and the whipped cream is just incredible! Good awful, insane in the membrane, Good!!!!! Worth the trip, always.
Definitely a must try for someone visiting Charlottesville. I came to visit a friend and the food here is super delicious. The staff are extremely friendly and helped me make the best Iron Paffle possible. I will say the food is extremely messy, so you need a lot of napkins.
The paffles are pretty tasty and the sweet nutella/banana one comes with a monster amount of nutella! We enjoyed the concept and the flavors. I really appreciated then ability to have a gluten free paffle. I will say that service is quite slow, even when youre doing take out.
Puff pastry waffle sandwiches... absolutely a mess to eat. The crunchy, flaky waffles are delicious and add a great texture element to a standard waffle. Tried one savory and one sweet. I strongly recommend both. I will come back again.
Do you ever go to a place out of town and think: I wish I could order one of each because who knows when Ill come back to try the rest of it? Well that was me at Iron Paffles & coffee. Also, a paffle is basically a pastry puff married with a waffle and BOOM they have a delicious flakey & buttery child...paffle!Their menu was limited, but full of gems. Hubster and I ordered a savory paffle...fried chicken with aioli, sausage gravy, pepper jack cheese, and avocado and a sweet one with wild blueberry compote and fresh cream. There were so many more I wanted to try like the pride paffle (fruity pebbles with white chocolateand the falafel paffle with hummus. The price was a little high, but if you go during the week and have a student ID you can get BOGO free paffle sandwich. I cant wait to come back and savor another one or five!
I visited Iron Paffles & Coffee while I was visiting family. It is one of the most original places to visit! Its hard to see on the street if you were just walking by, but its a neat atmosphere inside. Not to mention, the Cannoli Paffle is AMAZING! Im not sure what a Paffle really is, but I wish I could have one every day!
