Ira's Deli in Winnipeg

We had a tray of fancy sandwiches made for a gathering of 20 people. The food was excellent and gobbled up earning many compliments by all our guests. They had an excellent variety and even added the clubhouse sandwich. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. I bake a lot of bread, and theirs was excellent with a very homemade, fresh taste. Wow! Our order came trayed, nicely arranged, with garnish. Save yourself some time, and just book your take-out or catering needs with Ira.Just as a sidenote, make sure you have detailed instructions of how to get in. Really great place, great food and great service.

We ordered for a funneral service. The quality and quantity of food was amazing. The hostess was very customer service was very friendly and made sure that the serving trays were always full. Would highly recommend.

It is closed to walk in, they are only doing catering orders at this time.

One of the things I miss the most since moving out of downtown. The perfect sandwiches and platters, delicious soup, and the best potato salad I have ever had. Need to get back here soon!

Iras catered all the meals for my father-in-laws funeral this past weekend. They were all packed in individual clamshells for safety and the value was incredible. Many guests told us they were the best meals they had received - the selection of sandwiches, fruits, cheese and dainties was amazing and very fresh. Ira set everything up at the venue and came back later to pick up the coffee urns and drink dispensers. We simply could not have asked for better service or quality and we all highly recommend them.

I had Iras prepare sandwiches, dainties, cheese, crackers, vegetables, fruit and pickles for my moms Celebration of Life. Everyone was extremely pleased with the selections. The sandwiches were fresh and well filled. The food arrived promptly and Ira even offered to help set things up. Thanks Ira for a very memorable celebration! Wow, what an experience. Ira was amazing to talk to and the food was awesome. Ordered for about 25 people for a Bridal Shower. Every meal was meticulously placed within an individual clamshell, which made the meals Covid friendly. We had ordered 3 vegetarian and 1 gluten/dairy free meals. The vegetarians loved their meals. The person who received the gluten/dairy free meal raved about how good the bread was and remarked that she had never had such a good meal from a caterer before. She was so impressed that she took a picture of her meal and Iras information.I had ordered from Iras a few years back for my fathers funeral and had been impressed by his sandwich and food selection. Back then everything came on a platter. My entire (hugefamily and the many other guests at the funeral were impressed with Iras delicious selection of sandwiches, fruits, veggies and dainties. It was a pleasant experience then and it was just as pleasant this time around.Thank you Ira and staff for a wonderful experience. May you all keep healthy and happy through these trying times.

The food was delicious and service was extremely fast and very kind. Sandwiches were very generous and well made. Salads were tasty, healthy and well made. Soups were excellent with great staples and a wonderful soup of the day. A nice, cosy place with a great atmosphere and should definitely be on ur go to list.

It was a good meal we had with some of my friendsI had spicy tuna bagel although I can say it wasnt spicy but it was nice 👌I would have loved it more if it was spicyI had ordered some banana pepper and I thought I will have some inside the sandwich as well.salad was nice as well.

The New York Rueben is the best sandwich in town!

My mom works here and she’s a gem for their business, hard worker, kind and it’s small but cozy if your in the heart of the city, they also do catering!

They should have their picture next to the definition of Deli! Definitely having the New York special next time. And there will definitely be a next time

I got the Roast Beef Melt sandwich with coleslaw and it was delicious! Service was very friendly and quick. Would definitely recommend to friends and family!

First time here. Was told to come here and warned the sign is hard to locate driving by. Found my way in and yes its in the basement. Service was quick and polite. Tried the mish mash soup. Was ok. Loved the tuna on rye though! Bread is amazing and very fresh. Not overly expensive. Sandwich, soup and coffee $15.

Ordered from Iras for our moms funeral service. Everybody loved the sandwiches! The dainty selection was really good too. Tons of food. Thank you!

Iras Deli catered a Celebration of Life for us this past weekend. I initially called Iras because of high praise from a friend. Everything was seamless- From the friendly people answering the phone, to the on time delivery, the attention to detail and the most important thing, the fantastic food! We got many compliments on the food. The sandwiches, cheese tray, veggie platter and fruit tray were plentiful and delicious, but I was personally very pleased at how fresh and tasty their dainties were. One thing that particularly sold me on them was their all inclusive menu choices. I didnt have to calculate each category a la carte like some other places. It was just all there! We were very impressed with Iras.

This is a great little place to have lunch! The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the food is well made. Its fresh made, and they always have a delicious soup of the day on the go. Give them a try, you wont regret it. Neither will your tastebuds.

Located in the basement at lombard in exchange this place is known for its homemade style sandwich and lunches. I ordered a pesto chicken sandwich, special on the menu perogies. It was heavenly good. Portions are generous and service was quick. Everything is locally sourced. Must recommended for a quick bite.

Best bagel I’ve had in Winnipeg. Crispy, sweet, and flavourful. I chose to have mine loaded with fluffy cream cheese. Coffee is just a good classic brewed coffee. Coffee doesn’t need to taste like a chocolate stout with notes of blueberry. Overall, the staff is very friendly and everything is affordable, considering they’re located in the exchange. Hard to beat. I’m shocked that it took me so long to discover this place.

A hidden gem! Amazing real food for a good price. The stairs to get down to the place are old and steep but theyre worth taking them!

Cant say enough about this place! Just awesome!

Absolutely fantastic food!

I want to give this place a better rating, however, the menu is a limited. I found the service very good, although I will say I waited a while before being served. Finding the door to this place from inside the building is a little complicated, and its located in the basement, which I find a little odd. I will say that while the meal I had was pretty tasty, the basement has a smell which puts you off a little. The lighting is also quite dim, which unless I am sitting down to dinner in a fancier place I am usually wary of. Overall I found the place quick, the environment isnt to my liking, the service is friendly, the food is good for something quick.

Deplorable service from an overly hostile cashier. Went in for the special of the day (mac and cheese with garlic toastrecieved a to go container of macaroni noodles with what looked and tasted like a rue ( cream soup baseno cheese and a soggy piece of toast for 10 dollars!!!

Solid sandwich place with a unique atmosphere. Sandwiches are full, you never leave hungry. Even the chef salad is great and worth a shot. Service is fast and friendly.

Iras is a local hidden treasure on the basement of ghetto former Bricks Fine Furniture Building on Lombard. Iras food is fabulous deli fare. Daily soups znd specials. Portions are large. Amazing combo plates. Best Matzoh Ball Soup in town.

The best home cooked deli food in the Exchange. Their New York Reuben should be on everyones bucket list. The staff is very friendly and the owner Ira is a hoot.

A great place for breakfast or lunch in the unassuming basement of an Exchange heritage building. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Had a wrap when they catered at work. It was delicious. Lots of filling and very fresh tasting.

I wish I could eat here more often. I love the chicken soup with matzah ball. New York style sandwiches are piled high with ingredients. I recommend the Reuben, the pastrami and the corned beef. The daily specials are always good and reasonably priced. I stumbled upon this place 20 years ago while taking a course downtown. You wouldnt know its in the basement except to see the Iras sandwich board sign on the sidewalk. Its a dark restaurant and fills up at lunch. Its well worth the stop.

We used Iras for catering a small memorial luncheon at my fathers funeral recently. Food was fresh, very tastefully arranged, arrived on time and was delicious. I will definitely use them again and will recommend them to my friends.
