Iowa Trolley Park in Mason City

Im a huge fan of this place. They have a 50s vintage diesel locomotive that you are able to operate around a small track, plus handcars and an old train Depot (and other interesting things laying about too!We brought our daughter here 10-ish years ago and she loved it, brought our train-crazy son here now and he loves it too (as did our daughter again!Well worth a visit IMO!

Wasnt open for the season yet, but the man inside let us park and ride the bike trail. There is an old locomotive out front. I bet it is an interesting place.

Neat museum at the west end of the Iowa Traction Railway. They were closed the day we happened by there, but one of volunteers spotted us in the parking lot and stepped out of the shop to chat with us for a bit. Look forward to visiting again when they are open.

Amazing Owner Stan. Wonderful man. He gave us a tour, told us railroad history and allowed my 6 year old daughter to drive a steam train. We had the time of our life. My daughter didnt want to stop ringing the train bell. Also toured an old trolly and Stan even allowed us inside his awesome station. My daughter loved the train book he gave her. Would recommend 100 times over!

I learned a lot and what fun.

We Got to talk to the gentleman that owns it...Very Nice and and very informative! We really enjoyed our visit...there was so much to look at and see and ask about!

Stan is building a full sized steam locomotive, and he will let children run the diesel locomotive. Awesome place!

Breath taking lot of history

It felt a little like wed broken into someones garage.The old trains are pretty cool and there could be some good history. Its okay for restorations to be in-progress, but the outdoor space needed some tending with actual railings, etc. and the indoor space is cluttered with non-train junk that is overflowing, it needs a dumpster. Also, there was no actual documentation/ signage to know what we were looking at.If it hadnt been raining our kids would have enjoyed running around the grassy field but with rain there was no safe space for them indoors.

Place is in great need of maintenance. Needs some work to be kids safe/adult safe.

I was out there for work and riding my bike around and found this cool little Park with trolleys and it. Did not know that there was a museum but if I ever get the chance to go back there again I will check it out.

Scary, dont go. Dirty, no safe place to walk, DONT bring kids, unable to get near trains, looks like no progress is being made on renovations and its some retirement project being done by one person when there needs to be a team of volunteers.

Great owner Id stop in again and talk with him
