Educational center focusing on wolves through environmentalist-led programs, plus on-site animals.
Love seeing all the wolves interact!
Great interactive experience for all ages, even our 11 month old loved it. All of the staff were very educated and passionate as they patiently answered a wide range of questions from our family.
This is my favorite place in the world. The remodeled exhibits are top notch and interactive, the gift shop has so much wolf merch that its hard not to spend all your money there, but most of all, the ambassador wolves and the fantastic staff do such a great job at being stewards and educators. I became a member and I will keep coming back!
Very informative and super cool to see the wolves! They come up to the glass to see you, and you get to see them run around and play! Staff very friendly and Carly (I thinkgave a great presentation about the different wolves they have. Definitely a good idea to go in the morning right when they open.
What a neat place. I have always had an interest in wolves & think they are a neat animal. They are "cool" looking, but so graceful to watch. This place was very informative and set up nicely. Its nice they give "classes" if you want to call them that, where they pass information about wolves. It was neat to see the wolves in a natural habitat setting, even if behind glass. Wish they had an outdoor viewing area, to be able to take pictures without a reflection of glass. I drove 9+ hours to see this place, and to me, it was worth it.
I was disappointed only 5 wolves were available for viewing and we only saw 3. All 3 just laid there sleeping. Also you can only view the wolves from a viewing room behind glass. My past experiences with other places made this experience a huge let down.
Great place to learn about wolves. Live lectures, movies and interactive displays as well as window viewing for their resident wolves, Ambassadors. Could spend hours depending on time willing to spend.
Very informative. Saw the two wolf pups. Very cute. Saw the feeding of the pups.
We had so much fun. Got to see all the wolves. The pups are awesome.
Very educational experience! I love their approach to teaching the public the truth about wolves. Being able to observe them in person was such a treat. I will definitely visit again.
Great place to stop and learn about wolves, even if you think you already know everything you need to know, you will still learn something new.The wolves were beautiful!!!
Lots of Information on wolves.Staff can answer all questions regarding wolves.Small outside area for the wolves to roam. Under 1.5 acres for 5 wolves.More room for wolves and be able to meet them on an outside fenced area would be great.Inside building nice and clean.
Love this place. Visit a couple times a year - pups are growing fast. Staff are knowledgeable and the displays are interesting. I would like to see more video displays showing the yard area not visible from the windows so you can visualize what theyre doing when outside the main viewing area. Kind of an expanded wolf-cam display. Hope money can be raised for that!
Center was full of educational displays and information about wolves. I really enjoyed the live presentation in front of the enclosure and getting to see the ambassador wolves.
Amazing place, tons of learning opportunities here and some activity areas for kids. It was a warm day so the wolves were not super active but they came out a few times, so cool! The team working there are very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful
Very educational and fun. Our son wasnt 6 so we couldnt do any of the up close things with wolves but they had a cool section for smaller kids with coloring and puzzles and more. They also had an interactive computer game that our son loved. In the main are there is lots to do and learn, from understanding human impacts on wolves, wolf behavior and communication, wolf tracking, and some history of wolves in cultures around the world.
Love this place, great for people of all ages. It has so much information about wolves and the viewing deck to see the wolves is awesome: you can see them most of the time. Furthermore, the staff answer all your questions. It also has a kiddie center where kids can play and learn!
Knowledgeable staff who answer any questions you have. Learned lots about Wolf 🐺 conservation. We also were treated to a viewing of several wolves who came to the windows for snack time. Gift shop was a little less than I remember.
Very cool place. Clearly they love the wolves and want to do what they can to preserve them, but they did give a fairly balanced approach and really focused on educating the public about these amazing examples of God’s handiwork. We learned quite a bit from their knowledgeable presenters. Programs were offered throughout the day and the facility is well designed to give you great views of the “ambassador wolves”.There is also a fair-sized exhibit/museum with a nice mix of signs to read and interactive demos. We spent just over 2 hours there and felt that was about right.Don’t miss this one if you are in the Ely area.
There was a lot of great information about wolves. We got lucky and managed to see all 5 of the wolves in the pack, which was exciting. They had a huge area with information and a separate kids area where they could learn. Its a great educational center.
Very well maintained and informative animal center just outside Ely. Currently the meet the animals tour takes you just outdoors to view their wolf pups. All guides and docents are friendly and informative. Easy viewing of the wolves.
Interesting but thought there would be more live wolves to see. Enjoyed seeing the wolf cubs. Seemed spendy for an average of 90 minutes of viewing things. Definitely geared more for children.
A truly wonderful facility! The people there are all VERY knowledgeable! My family and I had a fabulous time. The entire place is beautiful and has activities for all ages to enjoy learning about such magnificent animals. We took some stunning photos of the wolves up close to the glass. Thank for you all the staff teaching us so much about these wolves!
My family had a great time here! Everyone was so patient and informative.
A great indoor activity option for the Ely area. Great information on wolves at this attraction. They have an exhibit pack of Grey and artic wolves. Not this does change. The facility is new and clean. Staff is so nice and knowledgeable about wolves and can answer any questions you may have. It takes 1 to 2 hours to experience the wolf center. Longer if you watch one of their presentations. Daily they do wolf topic presentations delivered by staff. I highly recommend this for winter or a rainy day activity. You will learn about wolves and appreciate thr experience.
Excellent interactive wolf center with live outdoor wolves. Informative displays, beautiful building and large window views of wolf habitat and wolves.
This center is focused on providing information about wolves without leaning right or left politically. Their presentations are clear and concise. The facility is clean all around. They have a lot of animals (taxidermyanimals on display and a lot of interesting information available. I assume The gift shop was picked over because it’s the end of the touristy season. We really enjoyed this place. We did the general admission, wolf feeding presentation, and the howling. Both the museum and the feeding were excellent. I don’t recommend the howling as I think their success rate is low to null. Overall, I recommend a visit to this non-profit.
Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff make the International Wolf Center a must see attraction if you are in Ely. During our visit the wolves spent a large amount of time about 3 feet from the glass allowing plenty of time to get pictures and video.
It wasnt what I was expected (comparing to the wolf center in Coloradoand I was extremely disappointed, cause I was planning this trip for 2 years. It was more like a Zoo with only 3 wolves (2 adults and 1 puppyon-site, that you can see behind the glass (not very well view because of the glare).Total of 5 wolves at the center, but 2 are retired, so you wont see them with the rest of the pack. Only through a live camera, if they are near it (I didnt see them).Apparently this center dont run a breeding/rehabilitation program, neither will release those wolves back to the wild. The wolves will spend the rest of their lives in captivity!I was also concern about the female "puppy" that they brought from another wolf center, to add to their pack. She is too young to be without her mother, in an unknown pack of wolves.Im hoping she will adjust well into this pack and have a good life in her new "home".Best of Luck!
The wolves are cool. We saw them during their afternoon engagement activitie and they were given frozen beaver feet. Wish there was more information talking about what they do and their mission during this time.
Super fun to see the wolves and read up on all the great information they had! Highly recommend for families with younger kids! Lots of fun stuff to look at and mess around with.
This was a neat place, but I did feel it lacked a bit on things to do, for the price. It was neat seeing the new pup, but she hid under a tree most of the time. It was warm and I understand the nature of animals.
This is an awesome place for families to visit. The staff is super helpful. There are lots of exhibits and programs to attend, as well as seeing the wolves up close. Dont miss it!!
A great place to visit if you are interested in wolves. Besides the informative displays inside, the live wolves are viewable thru large glass windows with a great photo opportunity. Assigned times are also available to see pups.
This place is amazing, especially in the winter. Very educational, clean and organized. In the snow the wolves are very active. Great place to bring the entire family to learn more about Minnesota wolves.
We watched the "Whats For Dinner" show and it was awesome. Educational and very cool to see wolves up close eating carcasses!
I visited the Wolf Center on Labor Day weekend for the Whats for Dinner and Howling programs and highly enjoyed both. They were very informative and the staff working there seem passionate about taking care of the wolves. I love the pack updates they post on their website as well as their live wolf webcams. Their center is in an absolutely beautiful building and setting, too.
I could spend all day here. Lectures are hourly and the museum part is good for at least an hour if you are the type that likes to read every sign and watch every video. The actual wolves make appearances by the viewing windows several times per day. You cant bring your own wolf but I took mine for a nice walk in the surrounding woods.
Nice place. A little different than we thought, but wed go again. We actually saw two of the ambassador wolves while we were there and learned facts we didnt know. Would definitely recommend for a place to go with kids.
An absolute fantastic place that I couldnt suggest highly enough! They have a great exhibit with several interactive areas, from a northern light room where you can simulate the distant howls of wolves thatll bring a chills, to a flight room with 180degree of screens to give you the experience of taking to the skys experience how they can track and gather data on wolf populations. Ill definitely be returning next time Im in the area! You can easily spend a couple hours here!
I loved it. They have nice programs you can go to. Exhibit area. They have enrichment time with the wolves. You have to make reservation online. Good sized area to watch the wolves.
Interesting and educational. Terrific displays. Nice observation area where they do an enrichment activity at noon, 2:00, & 4:15 so you can see the wolves come out of the forest. Informative talks in the auditorium throughout the day. A 51-minute continuous loop video. Gift shop.
Important place with great exhibits, talks, and live animals to help anyone understand the history and future of wolves in North America. I’d recommend catching one of their talks. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their subject. Go for the wolves, come back for the wolf puppies.
They had a feeding program for the wolves after hours 6.45-8pm on a special event day. They were feeding roadkill elk to the wolves and we could watch them from behind the glassGreat fun activity and infromational center for wildlife enthusiasts
The International Wolf Center is a Minnesota gem! The facility is especially accessible to children and has a good "Little Debbie"section about a year in the life of a wolf pup.The talk in the auditorium overlooking the wolf enclosure is interactive to adults and children alike. Who knew that 60% of a wolfs diet is deer? Amazing. The wolfs drop in numbers in the US and subsequent rebound is an inspiring story.
This place had a wolf enclosure where two beautiful wolves roaming by the windows at random times. There was also an interactive area for looking at educational information on wolves and similar canines. Really great for children! I thought the dark room which you could hear wolves howling was pretty neat. The gift shop was small but the photograph you can purchase of the wolves were gorgeous. The proceeds go to wolves. I highly suggest if you love love wolves!!!!
Absolutely amazing!! Wolves are one of my favorite creatures and being able to see them up close and learn more about them was time to remember! We went to the "Whats for Dinner" show and were able to learn about wolves eating habits and then watch them eat! Super educational! Its was fun to see the wolves interact with each other! Would go again!
Very interesting and educational. We saw the wolves. We spent quite a while looking at all the exhibits. Watched a video that was really interesting about domestication of dogs. The staff was very knowledgeable and happy to answer any and all questions.Overall it was pretty nice way to spend several hours.
International Wolf Center is my favorite place in the whole world!! I am a wolf fanatic! The only other place I feel so at peace and free is on the Harley. I could stand at the windows in the observation area and watch these incredible animals for hours! The museum part of the center has so much information to teach people the truth of wolves. They also have an activity area for kids to play and learn on their own level about the nature of wolves. Ive never been to another wolf attraction with so much information and ability to see their wolf pack so close! It is truly amazing to see!!
Not many wolves but fact that there are wolves is cool. Staff are very knowledgeable. Dont expect to touch them. You will be viewing them from behind a glass. They have a microphone hooked up to a speaker app you can hear the wolves. On hot humid days the wolves are less likely to come out. They are beautiful wolves. They also have a fair amount of skins feet and bones you are allowed to handle. My favorite part was the museum and reading the legends, myths, folklore and history.
