Airy, high-ceiling stop serving Asian fusion & Malaysian cooking in traditional, old-style environs.
A beautiful experience. Rm88 for set lunch. Food feels like it’s made by someone who takes incredible pride in serving delicious meals. Service was impeccable. Enjoyed the truffle mushroom pasta which features Japanese kelp, an interesting flavour profile that worked surprisingly well!
A very lovely lunch experience at Indigo. Thanks for the excellent service. The Panna Cotta dessert at the end of the meal was divine. This was money very well-spent.
Awesome three course lunch at RM88+!
A delighted change after we tried abundant of hawkers food. The food is impressive with good service. Note that the guards at the front gate do a good job at stopping any unwanted visitor, dont let them change your mind to dine at this beautiful restaurant with talented chef. We joined the guided tour at the Blue Mansion a day before, the tour was very limited and we are glad that we chose to dine here the following day, to immerse ourselves in the vibe and charm of this mansion, and even had a chance to stroll at the attractive balcony attached to the restaurant. Hope they will refresh the menu from time to time, and am looking forward to try your new menu the next time we visit Penang.
Ambience was great. Service professional. Food delicious. Overall experience A plus.
Nice ambiance, delicious food. Like the black angus, earl grey panna cotta, soy marinated tasmanian salmon and soup!
For rm388 per pax degustation, Im quite disappointed at the service, speed and quantity/quality of food.Firstly, we arrived 645pm. Was told 6 course dinner was 1.5 hours which we agreed to as we have a young child and need to leave for his bed time by 830pm. In the end, the whole meal took so long that my kid almost fell asleep and half the dinner party had to leave first. And when we said can u pack the dinner, first server just said no. Second server finally said yes very unwillingly and didnt even bother to pack ice etc with the dessert (and btw they packed all 3 sets in 1 plastic rather than separately). We took a short walk back to our hotel and already melted.Service wise was also quite shocking for a "fine dining" experience. Hard to get attention and also didnt clear my finished drink cups when serving new drink. Kept putting our used cutlery back on table rather than new sets for new dishes.Food was above average taste but servings small for the price. Foie gras was one of the better ones I had but some other dishes a bit salty. And not very fusion.. Just more western. My third time to blue mansion and decor always a wow but not sure what happened to overall service
Excellent meals as always… service is unbeatable led by AlweeAneesya and his team!! A must when in Penang!!! Well done Team Indigo !!
Really great experience dining in this heritage mansion, delicious 5-course dinner especially the foie gras and beef, impeccable service.
Delicious food in a beautiful restaurant set in a heritage home. Indigo offers so much more than a scrumptious meal. Service staff were accommodating too, 5 of us shared 3 set meals.
Just had lunch here, booking a table was very straightforward. If you intend to drive here, best to book a table in advance so that security is informed to let your car pass and park inside. Had the set lunch and kids had the ala carte spaghetti. Bread was served and the fold cam shortly. Food was top quality, waiters very polite and professional. What made it special was having lunch in the very same building where so many personalities had passed through. You might be able to feel their memories! After lunch we were allowed to walk around the public areas, an additional bonus! If this is your one and only trip to Penang in the foreseeable future, then this place is a must. Dont leave Penang without visiting.
Food was overall just average in taste, for the steep price list, in my experience. Bread was dry n hard. Even though we 3 were the 2nd patron of the night, the food took quite long (45 minto be served. I dont mind some extended waiting time for fine dining if it means freshly prepared dishes, thus delicious food served as a result. Unfortunately our salmon tasted bland (not the most freshest salmon), soft shell crab was soggy not crispy (the accompanying salad was with delicious dressing). The mushroom truffle spaghetti tasted quite good, as the only saving grace for our dinner.I expected higher quality n taste of food here. I hope they would do better the next time if I try again.
Came here for birthday celebration. Opt for the lunch 3 course menu. Serving portion is generous and very fresh.Soft shell crab salad very tasty and refreshingThe salmoon main skin are crispy and well cook underneath.Chocolate dessert is a boom. Flavour just on point. Not overpowering.Food serving about 20plus minutes for each set. After meal can tour around the blue mansion.Recommend reservation.
It is fine dining. So environment and location is good. I found the food is salty. Service is ok
Outstanding place, beautiful heritage property, very well maintained, excellent service and delicious food. Must visit for anyone who likes to enjoy a delicious meal in peace ambience
Very good service and environment. We come here for lunch. The food is delicious. Already mentioned to celebrate birthday when booking. They prepare the candles and birthday words chocolate for us. Definitely will come for second time.
Fine dining, 3 course meals in proper table settings. Its on the first floor of the blue mansion. Better to get a reservation, the guard at the gate will ask for it, otherwise its a chance to see if they have vacancy. We went on a Friday and it was pretty full. Nice place to meet and chat but dont expect fast food. We end up spending almost 3 hours there with food and coffee later. I had the steak, juicy and tender. So I know this place is legitimately at the higher class.
Love the ambience, feels like going back in time. Food was good. We went for the set lunch which was value for money at 88rm for 3 course meal. Waiters were friendly and attentive but not pushy on orders for drinks. We had a wonderful time at this place.
Fantastic lunch menu at affordable rate (around RM90/pax). The best value premium casual dining I’ve tried. Love the local twist (e.g using Asam Laksa herbs and toppings on a salad dishon their dishes.
A Fancy place serving western Fine Dining. Located inside the Heritage Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion.
Very good lunch starters and mains food well cooked to likingGreat Service with finesseAltogether a very nice experience in charming old antiquated Asian mansionWine and beer reasonably priced and of high qualityTotally enjoyed the meal
We thought we booked a table for lunch at the manga cafe nextdoor only to find out we booked for indigo LOL. Didn’t expect to have a 3 course meal lunch but it was such a lovely experience!! Walked through the famous mahjong scene from crazy rich asian to go up to the restaurant. Service was great and fast. Each plate we got was delicious especially the truffle pasta! Expect to spend about rm100~ each which isnt bad at all considering the quality and service. Would definitely comeback for dinner next time.
Our room came with a decent breakfast. Not the best, just decent. Honestly would rather eat out but then eating breakfast in the courtyard where the Crazy Rich Asians mahjong scene was filmed...i thought that experience was priceless.Overall, I prefer the Asian choices over the continental type breakfast.
The 7-course tasting menu was great, went for dinner with my cousin before her departure to Spain, for good. Food-wise all great except the Seared Foie Gras is probably the least favourite by the two of us. The ambience is just nice, quiet and slow. I must say we truly enjoyed the Tasting Menu at Indigo and the architecture of Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. It was a sentimental night for me, for sure.
Had the 88+/ per pax (3 course set lunch)Its a secluded restaurant upstairs in the mansion. A very exquisite & cultural? setting.First Ordered1. Soft Shell Crab Salad with Asian Vinaigrette - the crab was fried to perfection, vinaigrette was nicely tuned with the (laksa flower?)2. House-Cured Salmon - salmon. My partner said its good or probably his liking for raw salmon.Second ordered1.Australian Black Angus Beef Tenderloin (200g) - mashed potatoes was creamy and nicely seasoned, the sautéed baby spinach was just slathered in full salt (too salty!!& beef jus I had halfway was clumpy? (Unsure if its supposed to be)2. Pan-Seared Atlantic Salmon - the sautéed gnocchi was sweet??? And the fish skin was crispy although murdered by too much salt flakes.Third ordered1. Malt & Chocolate Gateau - too sweet for my liking a nice touch for sour-ish strawberries to be added but nevertheless too sweet for me. (Extra : they carved happy birthday on a small piece of chocolate for us.)2. Cheese Cake Mousse - zesty & served in a funky plate.**Youll be getting a cup of coffee or tea to pair with
We had the lunch set at RM88++ per person. The meal consisted 3 courses. We had the foie gras, steak, salmon and soft shelled crab. We finished off with the cheese cake and the chocolate cake.I must say that this is a very affordable and value for money experience. It does feel like the meal cost more than it is. Decor is great and service was also good.Definitely worth a visit.
Great place to dine inn. Great food and lovely environment. Good place to be on a special occasion..... Loved everything.
Comfort ambience with dim lights. Staffs are helpful to reply our questions and serve politely. 5 set courses are really worth for our dinner and we really enjoyed it.
The atmosphere is great, requested a private seat and they able to fulfill. Their service is excellent and food is good too.
First time visit Indigo @ Blue Mansion. Obviously is a nice ambience for photo shooting (网红打卡圣地). The restaurant serve 3 course for set lunch (2 choices of appetizer, 5 choices of main course and 2 choices of dessert). Both appetizers are nice and we love it. We order steam clams with southeast asian broth and truffles mix mushrooms spaghetti, both I feel so so only. The dessert today are different with menu, they serve orange stawberry parfait and dark chocolate (cant recall the name), we feel good. Overall was not bad but with the taste, its a bit pricey.Food: 4 starsEnvironment : 5 starsWorth to try: 4.5 starsValue for money: 3.5 stars
Located on the first floor, Indigo restaurant is inspired by Cheong Fatt Tze himself, offering a marriage between East and West not just in the setting, but also the cuisine. Its cuisine is a fine balance of flavours and expert techniques, a reflection of the ever- evolving culinary palette of Chef Jack – influenced by his upbringing in Penang, his kitchen experiences abroad and his travels across the globe. The interior was designed to complement and enhance the cuisine which it serves, and the restaurant remains one of the must-try restaurants in Penang.Indigo is open daily for lunch, dinner and private events.
Fine dining in heritage Blue Mansion in the heart of Georgetown. Nice ambience, helpful and friendly staffs, efficient service. Delicious food, tasty dessert and fusion with art on the plate. One of the best. Antique decors and arts but the resto is at 1St floor of the Mansion. Parking inside available for dining and visit the bar on ground floor. Very recommended!
The restaurant is on the second floor of The Blue Mansion. We were greeted properly upon arrival and entering the mansion and then the Indigo Restaurant. The restaurant interior is 别有一番风味. The architecture is considered quite well-maintained for a historic mansion. I was there to celebrate my birthday. At Indigo, we ordered their specials & entrees like Crispy Okra Fries, an Octopus dish and the Crab Cake. For mains, we ordered the angus beef and the Miso Cod. Overall the food taste is good. The red and white wines we ordered were decent. It was a nice dinner with great company.
Took the set lunch at rm75+ per pax. Nice and delicious with good portion. Can walk around hall area after meal for photos. Just tell the guard that you are going to eat at the restaurant and he will let you in, even without booking.
I will usually give high dining restaurants in Penang a miss .... Why eat here when you HAVE Penang hawker food?Eating here the first time seriously challenged my assumptions. The food is REALLY good. Its seriously GOOD.I was surprised at the flavours, texture and taste of the dishes served. Highly recommended to go for the 3 course set meal. The smoked duck salad, clam broth and seabass is really good. They did notify us that the creme brulé was not available (we were disappointed!but the yam and coconut mousse gateau substitute blew us away. It was a worthy substitute.Take an afternoon to dine here for lunch, then just have the Penang cendol for dinner.
A rather private restaurant located in the blue mansion. Staff are well trained, Food and culinary are up to standard. I ordered the truffle pasta. The mushrooms are seasoned well and infused with the sauce. The restaurant feels sureal like some time capsule as the mansion is a UNESCO historical building. For the instagrammers, this is a all corner photogenic restaurant.Pricing is on the above average price, but if it’s for a special occasion I think it’s is worth to visit.Suitable for celebration, a nice catch up location.
Nothing special for the food. Small portion but not that deliciousOver price slightly since the food is nornalWe ordered duck confit and Australian lamb rack. Lamb rack not bad but portion is small, not as per the waiter describe. For me is not worth the price. Emily Steak House still better.Ambience not bad. Is instagrammable Ambience.Since the food is normal, probably wont come back for second time.So far the best steak I had is from Emily Steak House, and the wine shop. The Blue Mansion doesnt serve the steak that is comparable with them, sorry to say that. Still need improvement. They do provide envelop to let the customer keep their masks and they have sanitizer on each of the tables in the restaurant.Another thing is the service. Bad service from the one who serve and brought us into the restaurant. No greet us or welcome us.Unlike other cheap restaurant, they still friendly welcome us to their restaurant. This restaurant lose at their service.Crew walking too heavy in the wooden floor and cause alot of noise and vibration .The reason I come here because I saw a lot of comments that the building is instagrammable. Well indeed it is.Another thing is, I wanted to try the steak. But too bad, after tried and I probably wont come back for second round. But lose at their service and food.
A very soothing and classy environment for celebration of any occasion. Restaurant is located on the 1st floor of the Cheong Fatt Tze mansion, a mansion filled with so much history. Staffs at the entrance were so nice and polite, took our body temperature & sanitise our hands and shoes as well! Definitely compliance with the RMCO SOP & took the precaution measures seriously! Good job. Both my friend and I dined in @ lunch time (3 course at RM75++ per pax). Dishes were yummy, especially the appetiser (crab cake). The main dish sea bass was really good too. The only downside is the soup of the day (crab soupwhich tasted mediocre. Great experience otherwise, will come back for the next occasion.
A unique place for fine dining. Good service. Food is good but not wow. They used strong seasoning, so the fish is a bit salty, mentai too much for my liking. Mango dessert(the green 1is refreshing on the first bite, but the more I had, the more sour it became. Price is reasonable.
A lovely restaurant inside the heritage hotel. Three course menu for lunch was 65 Malay dollars, which is great value for what it provided. All the dishes I have were absolutely tasty, especially the sirloin, juicy and tender. The staffs were attentive and would make effort to make you feel welcomed and satisfy. Would definitely come back again.FYI, dining here could save the admission for the hotel, as it is also a tourist attraction. They seem to charge tourists 16 Malay dollar just to visit the place. They also provide free parking, just notify the guard at the gate that you are dining there, then he will open the gate for you.
The lunch set is at a good price, with signature appetiser, Cold Laksa. I had Seafood Stew as main which was recommended, good generous portion and the stew was so tasty that I ended up drinking most of the soup..🤣 The mansion is so beautiful, and if you dine then you can also hang out looking around the mansion for many hours (whereas the tour, RM17, has fixed duration and time slot). So, I highly recommend dining at Indigo at this historical mansion.
A gorgeous restaurant in one of the best-looking mansions in all of Penang. A great venue for a celebration or a date. The food and service was also excellent. We tried the three-course set lunch menu, which was excellent. The wild-caught prawns and the seafood stew were both delicious.
Came here for the 3 course set lunch for RM68++. The atmosphere and service was great but the food could be better. The roast beef salad and soup of the day was good but the mains tasted average. Dessert was decent. Overall good experience but the improvements in the quality of the food could make the whole experience much better.
Delicious dishes served in spectacular ambiance. The blue mansion is worth a visit also, but a dinner there is even better. The cuisine has clearly classical French influence, but integrates Oriental and Japanese notes into a quite convincing concert.
The place so cozy, the waiters so friendly, the food so nice and with a very ig portion (for meand the prices is good (RM65 for appertizer, main course and desertbut we couldnt enjoy it that much because were in rush to go to the jetty to go to Langkawi, but too bad we couldnt make it to Langkawi :(
The Blue Mansion itself is a must see with many historical pieces but Indigos food was only average. There are better fine dining experience and food quality elsewhere in Penang.
Breath takingly beautiful space - from the moment you enter the historical Cheong Fatt Tze mansion till your walk upstairs to the restaurant, you wont cease to be awed. We had lunch - the set lunch is value for money: 3 course meal thats high quality at RM65 per pax, but Im not sure Id call it fine dining though. Ive not tried the dinner so Im not sure. We tried the angus sirloin - less juicy than I expected. The seafood risotto has really fresh ingredients although the risotto itself can be better. The starters were much more inspiring than the mains - loved everything from the cauliflower soup to the gnocci.Id be interested to come back and try the dinner.
Fine dining for special occasions in a spectacular heritage building in the heart of Penang. The night we were there a Chinese musician was playing guzheng which added to ambiance. Good food menu with a range of meat/poultry/fish options without being overwhelming. The wine menu on the other hand was very long making it difficult to choose.
Like it so much, the best meal that I had in Penang. Is quiet pricey but it worth, taste good from appetizer main course and dessert everything was perfect. The ambience is also good with indigo themed in the heritage villas. Worth to try it.
A delicious fine dining with reasonable price. The chef is good in western cooking especially the appertiser. They are serious in the food preparation even the bun is outstanding compare to other restuarant. Definitely worth for revisit.
