Curry restaurant combining a colourful setting with imaginatively presented new and classic dishes.
We had a amazing night at indian room .The staff was very friendly lots of option .Tandoori King Prawns were very deliciousWill definitely come back
I’ve gotten takeaway from here a couple times now - always delicious!
This place looks the part with its dark lighting but thats where it stops, I found this place to be very intimidating to dine at, no sooner had we sat down than the waiters was on us asking what we want to order, I told them it would be nice first to order a drink and after lots of tutting he went off only for the water behind him to them come and say drink is coming what do you want to order,And it went ion from there with the waiters boss I think even having a go at one of the waiters for not getting our order,We ordered in the end just to get them off our back as it was becoming quite intimidating with the 3 of them just standing there staring at us, so much for our nice night out,The food well what can i say the food is below par of even a low quality take away , it was small, unimaginative, and lukewarm and this morning my belly does not feel to good at all,Look if its quick in and out job then maybe use this place if there is no other nearby but do not expect much, other than that forget this place and move on, if you with a girl on a date night or your wife then certainly keep well away,Looking at the other 1 star reviews then yes they all seem in one way or the other reflect what I am saying about the food and staff , but looking at the 5 star reviews I just wonder where these people have eaten before if they think this place is and I quote the best indian food ever and the staff are amazing, where have these people ever been to think such stuff maybe only take aways or they struggle to eat out or have very very low expectations as this feedback does not reflect this restaurant, What we experienced was not a one off but how the place is run,Bad low quality food and bad rude staff,
Definitely the best Indian in Balham! Everything you want out of a local curry house - we go regularly. Be careful of the lamb chops though, theyre super addictive... :)
This place is clearly very popular, and this is understandable as the restaurant, food, and staff are all great, BUT the popularity also does lead to some cons - the tables are uncomfortably close together, which also means its very loud because so many people are crammed in, and you get given a time slot for youre booking (because theyre so busy), and its just all very rushed. We wanted to relax and enjoy the dinner/evening but kept getting interrupted by the staff reminding us how much time we had left. They were also so busy that we had to chase the staff 3 times for a drink that we ordered.Another big con was that the allergen information on the menu was mostly all incorrect, so it was very difficult to order if you do have any dietary requirements, and this made the experience even more stressful. The staff did try to help, and the food in the end was good, but I didnt really have an enjoyable dinner.
Great quality food on a busy Saturday night. Thank you sangita for excellent service. Management were very helpful too
Group business dinner. Very accommodating staff fabulous food to share. Thoroughly enjoyable!
This Indian restaurant is by far my favourite. It’s got a very cosy environment, very traditional. The food is amazing very tasty and the staff are extremely friendly. I ordered the wrong dish by mistake and theyve changed it for me for free of charge. I will definitely be going back there. I wish I could give them 10 stars if I could. Thank you
We love this place and myself and my partner enjoyed the atmosphere and well definitely come back
The food was extremely delicious and it’s a pleasant place to enjoy your meal. The staff was so kind and accommodating. Had a lovely evening at this place.
Some of the best food in the city, very glad to have it as my local!
Don’t order the papadoms! Why? Because they can’t cook them right! Either the oil is too old or they’ve overcooked it. This has been addressed multiple times with the store manager, yet they still fail to cook them correctly. You just simply can’t eat them, because they would make you feel sick. Bringing them back is a waste of time and you end up being stuck with them and problem doesn’t get resolved.UPDATE 2022- As you can see they’ve gotten worse, saturated in oil and inedible. Very disappointing, again
Been dining in and getting takeaways from Indian Room for a couple of years, food is always top notch and full of flavour. Its a great Indian if youre in the mood!
Delicious dinner with my nephew. We both had a main and shared a rice and a naan. More than enough and very tasty. Staff are really good.
By way of an update to the below. We received an email offering to improve our experience if we returned. We did return and the food was delicious, the service was great and the restaurant paid the entire bill so fair play to them and thank you for being so professional about it all.The positives were that the chicken tikka starter and the sag paneer were tasty. The meat mixed platter was also good though the prawns were pretty much cold.On the down sides were they bought plates which were so hot they were dangerous, the place was so cramped I had to move myself and sit on the end of the table, the biryani was dry and tasteless, and the pathia didn’t taste like pathia at all it was an over chillied dish of pure clove. Inedible literally. What was worse was the mafia style response to my feedback which was hugely intimidating. We left hungry and over £80 lighter.
Delicious and fresh, staff so attentive and friendly. Cant wait to come back.
Awesome Indian food in southwest London. Out of central London and worth the tube trip.
We had a genuine welcome and a beautiful meal together at this lovely restaurant with my niece from Australia this week.
Very nice food in a lovely little authentic restaurant. Service was brilliant from all the staff and the manager even greater us on our first visit. Will definitely be back!
My partner and I are regulars at this restaurant and have been for some years now, I can honestly say I have never found fault with the service or the food, I recently had the lamb chops and was so impressed with the dish that I personally thanked the chef. We have tried several different dishes here and all have been amazing. Well done indian room, many thanks Wilfred
One of the best Indian restaurant so far. A must go place. Nice food, vibe, services
I came here with my boyfriend for a mid week meal and it was a lovely experience! The staff are so attentive and friendly and the food was delicious! We had a mixed starter and prawn puri and then chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh and keema naan. Couldn’t fault it, we’ll definitely be back!
I had dinner with my two daughters during Queens 70th Jubilee and the food was excellent and service was faultless and friendly. I travelled from Bristol and have had many indian cuisine experiences and this ranked in my top 3 ever. Also for a London restaurant it was less than I have paid in Bristol! Would definitely visit again when I see my daughters next time.
Hi my mum and me we had a lovely meal from the restaurant I had chicken rogan jogan and rice very delicious and spicy I enjoyed the lamb samosa and onion bjahi and popodam my mum enjoyed the meal excellent meal we would denitley have it again
One of the best Indian food we have had in London. Coconut Lamb was super tender and full flavour, Rogan Josh very tasteful as well. Service is absolutely amazing, super attentive and polite. We can highly recommend it to everybody! We will be back here again very soon.
To my surprise, this place actually has good food. Super close to the flavours back home in India. Loved the Chicken Tikka starter and the chicken tikka curry. Venkat gave good suggestions!
Indian Room holds a special place in my heart. Moving from the states to the UK resulted in losing home cooked meals but every time I come here I feel like I’m part of the family. The management and staff remember me each time I come and make it a point to make every visit a memorable one. It’s rare outside of the Michelin Star world to receive such service. Whilst the service is phenomenal what’s even better is the food. I typically order the Thali platter (alternate between veg and nonand you’ll never be disappointed with either. Again highly recommend Indian Room and hope you take the effort to find it and enjoy it as much as I have. They truly make you feel like you’re part of the family and ensure you leave satisfied and not hungry!
Poor quality food considering the 4.4 rating on Google. Most curries were very sweet and lacked enough other flavour. At least they served Kingfisher beer, the only Indian thing they got right
Its a super tasty Indian, went with a group of vegetarians and shared a load of veg sides. My favourite was the aubergine which was melt in the mouth tasty. Naan breads were ok-a little small and not as fresh or doughy as others. Service is a little rushed and the restaurant is a little cramped. More of a go with some close friends than a date vibe.
Food was okay, but the venue was really quite cramped it felt uncomfortable in there. The staff were polite though. Any small issues were rectified quicklyMy biggest problem was the mouse in the kitchen area that we pointed out to staff. They didnt seem bothered at all which is why I hope they see this and do something about it .Left quickly after this . I wouldnt return because Im not confident theyll take necessary measures
Had a lovely Indian curry and the best garlic nan bread Ive had in years. Great atmosphere with many tables taken early on a Thursday evening. Excellent table service from Shah and a lady waitress whos name I didnt get (sorry Definitely will be back.
We went there for a couples date in February and it was so lovely. So many vegetarian options and the staff was extremely pleasant. The food was incredible, very authentic and very quick service. We will definitely come back ! Thank you for a lovely evening
You’d be hard stretched to find authentic, flavoursome Indian cuisine such as this in London and the naan was out of this world! The only place Indian food has ever tasted so good is in India. A must go. The service was attentive and fast, the ambience was great - the fact that there were a continuous flow of people coming in is testament to how good the food is. The smells, the spices….it honestly took me back to my travels in India and the great cuisine…can’t wait to return
Very busy restaurant and now I know why as the food was amazing. Really generous size portions, so much so we got a doggy bag.The staff very attentive and friendly as were the other diners. Great night.
Wonderful dinner! Great for big groups! We had 10 people on a Sunday and we’re eligible for the weekend special deal. Everything was delicious and the service was really nice. Definitely coming back, especially for the weekend special! I had the Goan seafood curry - so yum!
My god! What an amazing meal. We didn’t book and were lucky to get a table on a sat night. Starters were really nicely presented and the mains as you would expect. Great service and brilliant flavours too. The spice was very nice and in that sort of medium/“lingers pleasantly” range which was most welcome.Strongly recommend the lamb kebabs to start with, and the dhal was some of the best I’ve had.
Been here many times, hits the spot every time. It’s not too bougie, not cheap, not expensive - but if you want a traditional curry with pints of kingfisher in London (or in Europe), this is worth a visit.
QuIte surprised at the quality of the food given the great reviews for this place. Ordered the squid, mixed grill and paneer tikka for starters. The meat starters were bland and looked nothing like the photos. The kahari tasted of pure cloves and nothing else. The paneer makhani was so sweet, it was unbearable. Rest of the food was okay but nowhere near worth the prices charged. Surprised how busy it was considering the quality of food we tried! Wouldnt return even at half the price.
In think this may be the Best Indian Restaurant on planet earth! I traveled to India in 2018 and during my visit I decided to eat at what is supposed to be the best Indian food on the Planet. I could not deny that claim until now! The Indian Room is far better, I honestly do strongly feel this is the best Indian on planet earth! If there are also Indian Restaurants on other planets in other solar systems, then I believe the Indian Room is the best in the Galaxy! I strongly recommend the Salmon Shashlik with Saag Paneer. R.ali was absolutely awesome!
My family and I had a wonderful experience at this warm and cosy restaurant which was how dining out should be. Staff were polite, friendly and attentive. The decor is mellow, and relaxing. The food was well presented and a marvellous satisfying treat for all of the senses, with generous portions. Our private function was a spectacular success partly due to the accommodating team that hosted our party.I will be back so, of that I have no doubt.
Being Local We never been to Indian Room but today came to celebrate our friends new Job and very happy with food and friendly and helpful staff🙂🙂must try they were so busy but still attentive 🙂
Very nice end to a Birthday with a meal had today, food up to high quality standard. Along with the service Rinku made us feel very comfortable, warm and welcoming. We will be recommending to our friends and family for sure. Thank you Neil. ❤️
Food was good but not as mind blowing as some reviews would have you believe. The service was also a bit chaotic with a lot of running around from the staff but still a bit of a struggle to get an order taken. A perfectly satisfactory experience but left a bit underwhelmed, perhaps a result of reading their numerous five star reviews.
Having had many many many deliveries from Indian Room, I finally got round to eating in the restaurant, and it didnt disappoint. Friendly service, superb food and a nice selection of wines too. They deserve all the plaudits they get
Fantastic curry. We have been coming for years both with groups of friends or as a couple. Highly recommended! 5 Stars *****
Indian Room proves how the London area has some of the best Indian food outside of India. Staff was very solicitous. Fresh high quality ingredients and many delicious flavors. I had Zinga 65, sheek kebab chicken tikka, palak paneer & naan.
A down to earth and homely atmosphere with some of the best curry I have ever had. We ordered the lamb Rogan Josh and the chicken tikka masala. The lamb Rogan Josh had a delightful level of spice with full bodied flavour pairing beautifully with the saffron rice. The chicken tikka masala had a light surprising spiciness that added an extra level to the dish. Rashed topped the whole experience off with his excellent and attentive service. 5 out of 5 would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a nice Indian meal.
R. Ali’s service was beyond excellent. The food was delicious and we were made to feel most welcome and well looked after! Thank you for a lovely meal!
A cosy and small Indian restaurant. Ive walked past this restaurant afew times and its always very busy. Service excellent and friendly, food arrived very quickly after ordering. Food tasted average, Ive been to most of the curry houses along tooting and have tasted better.
Great place for a cosy dinner with friendly staff and tasty food. Expect to pay under £45 for 2 people.Location : very easy to find as it sits on the main road. Parking is very limited but if you park in Sainsburys opposite, you can park for free for 2 hours.Restaurant: the place is very modern as you can tell from the outside with upscale signs and Indian decor. Its very tasteful but the tables are too small to contain 2 people food.Staff: the waiters were amazing and friend and always filled our glasses. They were very attentive and polite and ones of the main reasons for coming here.Food: we ordered, for starters - lamb samosas which were tasty but small and only came in pairs. The paneer tikka starter was big and came in 3s and were amazing and soft and not too spicy. For mains - motta paneer, chicken Karahi, 3 naans. For desert - gulab and halwa. all of these were delicious and not too spicy. Had alot of flavour and was not too messy. A very tasty mealsPrice: the total came to £45.50 for two people which is same as tgi Fridays and Frankie and Bennys. We had 30% off by booking through OpenTable so it came too £38.00.Overall we had a great experience and would go again. The desert was tiny just like the tables but as long as you book through OpenTable its a worthy experience.
