Indian Heritage Museum Penang - Heritage museum in Butterworth, Malaysia
One of the BEST Museum in the world.
Museum has many interesting artefacts that you won’t often see, it is definitely worth a visit to currently the only Indian heritage museum in Malaysia.Listening to the stories shared by the museum owner, the artefacts come to life and offers you a glimpse into a different time and space. I truly enjoyed this visit, if you do come here do not hesitate to engage the friendly owner in casual conversation. You will definitely leave with new knowledge and insight.

Its a nice place to see and get to know the history of Indians in Malaysia.
Probably the only Indian museum in the country. Fruit of Mr Prakash & Madam Punita’s endeavour. A great service to the Indian/Tamil/Hindu community of Malaysia! We visited during the weekend, Madam Punita gave us a personal tour.No admission tickets required, donation box is available for contribution.
Wonderful collection. Nice and must to visit, if go to Penang.
The rich heritage of India, one of the world’s oldest civilizations, is an all-embracing confluence of religions, traditions and customs. The highlights of Indian heritage lie in the treasure of its art, architecture, classical dance, music, flora and fauna, and the innate secular philosophy of its people. A visit to the heritage sites is like a walk through history, changing lanes with every dynasty that ruled Indian soils. The finesse of Indian handiwork, the richness of silk and cotton textiles, the ethnicity of jewellery, everything has come down as a heritage from ancient times and is being kept alive generation after generation. Even food in India is a legacy and part of Indian heritage, differing in look and taste in every state of India.Awesome, immensely proud of our Indian heritage which has been preserved. 👍🇲🇾👍🙏Thanks to Mr. Mahalingam Sir.
had the opportunity to visit the Museum of Indian Heritage in Jalan Macalister, Georgetown, Penang, many historical materials of the existence of the Indian community are displayed here, very beneficial for the current generation. No fees are charged and there are staff who will serve our inquiries. Thank you to the state government
Alive ..... Full of LIFE
A hidden gem of Penang. Glad that we had a guide on duty on that day, and he is delighted to show us around. A good introduction on the history and life of the Tamil-Indian in Malaysia for the past 200-hundred years.
Very good place to visit..next to a restaurant..

Lovey place! Felt like a trip down memory lane. Brought back my childhood memories. Kudos to those who put forth this idea!
Nostalgic and best place to visit
Amazing Museum. All of the collections are a private collection. Lot of things displayed is arranged in a very neat way.
Going back to childhood. Full of memories about childs games and never cost us kids money. Simple games like 5stones can keep us out of mischieves. Curious though on Thayam. Someone shld get this game rolling. You may find this similar game on yr hp, but it is never the same thrill n fun interacting with other kids, malay, chinese or indians. A bit small room, cause many old items just line up in the cabinets. What I know Indian heritage history is more than what was abled to display there. Hope more photos can be added. I am a chinese but grew up eating apom, idli, tosai more than char koay teow or curry mee. And laksa, rojak is my favourite. All because my home is surrounded by malays on my right, n indians further down.
good places for young learners to know life of ur past generations
Traditional Indian items, taking you several decades back
