Indian Curry House - Indian restaurant in Akureyri, Iceland
Was so pleasantly surprised with how amazing the food was.It wasn’t like any curry I’ve had before in that the dairy was soooo much better quality. I can’t explain what is was exactly, but the spices even tasted different but just super yummy.I got the chicken tikka masala and requested extra spicy and got a side of naan with mango lassi. Really hit the spot!
Good service, short waiting time, great tasting food. You want spicy? They deliver.Over all a good experience
Loved the food, taste is delicious. We asked for bit more spices, it was great! Nicely decorated, staff is kind. Restaurant not very big so we made reservation beforehand. Only point is that there is really less vegetarian dishes, bit disappointed with that. No paneer or any substitute. Nevertheless it was worth it.
India curry house serves good Indian food in Akureyri. I was pleasantly surprised to find an Indian restaurant in this northern town. I had the thali and it came with roti, rice, veg korma and a cucumber salad. Perfect lunch.
Nice little place. Good portions. Good variety on the menu. No Samosas or pekoras. But good tikka masala and vindaloo. Staff is very friendly and helpful and you can tell they really appreciate your business.
Great food for a resonable price
Delicious food with lunch options and very friendly service!
ordered from the chalkboard menu. did not get informed that this menu does not apply in the evening (reads: "todays offer" in icelandic).I probably also got something else than I ordered, as the item I was billed was called differently on the bill and the board. we were forced to pay extra. rice only comes in really tiny portions, a reasonable amount is also charged on top.food quality is good. I hope the way they treat customers will improve.
Good quality and quantity with kind staff behaviour without prior reservation and in downtown. Kadhai Vegetarian and Daal tadka were superb, what to say about Indian masala tea ☕️ it was really good. A nice Indian restaurant with proper Indian cuisine taste. Good to go and taste Indian cuisine.
Fantastic Indian restaurant in Akureyri. Service was quick and attentive. Food was absolutely amazing, the best in Iceland (probably whole Europe). Very friendly owners and staff.
Amazing food and service, wasnt expecting indian food, but definitely enjoyed it
Best Indian food in Iceland. The restuarant may be small, but the staff are very friendly and manage the flow of customers skillfully. The mango lassi, garlic naan, and mild and spicy chicken curries ("chicken madras" and "chicken vindaloo," respectivelywere all fantastic and authentic. Definitely worth the stop after an evening of shopping.
Very good Indian Food and friendly service. The food taste was spot on. Would highly recommend it.
Good service. Food was ok - it felt like Indian food "lite". The flavors were there but it tasted like the meat was cooked separately which made it taste like it needed more depth to it.
Well prepared Tandori Lamb and good Tikka Masala.
It was very tasty and the service was very Friendly.
We ordered the lamb kadai, tiger shrimp, madras sambar rice, tandoori salmon & mango lassi (yes we were very hungry 😜). None of the dishes disappointed us. The staff noticed that we were Indian and prepared the food a little extra spicy so that it suits our taste. It’s located at a great place and I recommend it if you are looking for some nice indian food.
Amazing food, fast service, lovely owners!! The chai here is one of the best I have had 😀 Definitely recommend this place if you are craving Indian food!!
Very good tasty food .i am happy
Amazing food. We got the dahl, vegetable curry, naan, and rice. Great vegan options and very kind waiter.
Very good restaurant. Ask for the extra spice if you like spicy.
One of the best Indian restaurants I dined at. Its such a surprise to find such good indian food in the middle of Iceland..Thank you to the Indian family for keeping this authentic
Good food and lovely service!
The best lamb on the face of this planet. It’s been 4 years since I’ve been here and I still think about it all the time.
Can you believe it, Indian restaurant in Iceland. And what is even more exciting is that food tasted better than lot of Indian restaurants in North America!!They even served nimbu ka achar (lemon pickle)!!Well if you are looking for good spiced Indian food, please do stop here. And ambience of this restaurant is vibrant with lots of colors, which gives cozy feeling.
Extremy tasty and good food, the nan bread was out of this world, unlike anything you would find in any grocery store, good and polite staff
Really good curry! Surprising to find here… it is pricey but I guess it depends how much you want to have curry. Owner is great.. very sweet. Only reason I don’t give a 5 star review is because I love pappadams and it costs so much to buy them here!
Delicious and original indian food!Thank you for serving such good dishes!
Excellent variety of vegetarian choices. Great flavors and extra spice available for the adventurous eater.
Fantastic Indian food! The chicken was so tender you could cut it with your fork. The tikka sauce was also very creamy. Friendly staff.
We had dinner here because I wanted to see how Iceland does Indian food. The menu recommends for international travelers to request extra spice (which we did). Everything was delicious (lamb curry, Kadai veg, chicken tikka masala). Decor is super cute, staff was very welcoming, and the prices are very reasonable.
Tastless and extreamly dry chicken #65. Portion small. Service good. Most expensive beer on the planet, 1,699 IKR for a bottle of Kinfisher, seriously?? About 200 IKR in the UK. By a hot dog around the corner.
The food was good but too little and no real vegan option like Tofu… only vegetables and lentils. I give it a 3 star because the people were nice for giving us a table after 20 min in a busy time.
We try to visit an Indian restaurant every time we take a trip but unfortunately, this one was not worth it. They were able to seat the 4 of us at 6 p.m. which was wonderful but the chicken tikka had no flavor whatsoever, while the vegetarian dishes were too spicy. The North Indian food appeared to be flavored with South Indian spices which are very different. Usually, we pack the leftovers and take them to the hotel room to eat the next day but not here.
Guys, I dont know how to express my feelings about this restaurant. This place is making so-called Indian food that doesnt have any taste or quality. While we were having dinner at this restaurant we found that these people didnt know how to cook the real Indian food. Besides that, the portion of each of the items were not worth the price. Being in a good location, they were selling the worse quality of food to the tourists, who didnt know anything about this place. Please dont waste your money on this restaurant.
I guess if you are really desperate for Indian food you can try this. A very limited vegetarian menu and to top it off, not very good. It was way too spicy for a medium spicy dish and overall not worth the visit when there are two places right next door that are much better.
Service was excellent! Very fast and friendly! It was great to get something else than burgers and fries for once! It was delicious
What are the chances of coming across a Indian food place in Akureyei Iceland? It’s 2nd largest city with population of only 18000. We walked in without any reservation around 8PM and were able to be seated quickly. I would think that as post Covid travel picks up waiting time will increase. We ordered chicken and a vegetarian dish with naan. Service was fast and there was no extra charge for rice. Kingfisher and Gull beers were available. Cooks were from South India so curry had that flavor. Enjoyed the dinner.
Very good food. Lovely decor. Great service. Definitely recommend this place. We love our Indian restaurants in Austin, Texas and this is just as good as what we are used to.
The staff was very friendly but the food was so-so, in the vindaloo the tomato sauce tasted like it was from a can. If you’re used to Indian food in other countries this one might be a little disappointing.
Pretty decent little curry house for the location. The menu is somewhat sparse and most dishes have been seriously toned down to accommodate local tastebuds-be sure to ask for extra spicy on dishes like the chicken vindaloo if you’re used to U.K. or Indian spice levels. My spicy garlic chicken came with a gravy-like sauce and consisted mostly of thigh meat but was otherwise pretty good.Prices are high compared to other countries but apparently not unreasonable by local standards: Poppadoms are seriously overpriced at about £7 for ONE poppadom plus a thimbleful of mango chutney! Naans however come in at 400 ISK or £2.25, which makes no sense at all. My chicken dish was about £14.As for tipple, the large bottle of Kingfisher at ISK 1,600 is by far the best deal compared to the local brews in bottles (at ISK 1,000 and up). Expect to spend around £40 for a basic meal for one person.Friendly and efficient service and a cozy space, great central location.
Best indian food i have had. Prices are mid range but i felt it well worth the price. Staff was very nice and helpful as well.
We were very happy with both the food which was very tasty, and the service which was quick and friendly.
Delicious Indian cuisine with amazing variety is Indian delicacies with Icelandic balanced spices for locals and tourists. A must to visit for all local Icelandic citizens and tourists coming to Akureyri. Should experience the delicious Indian cuisine taste and enjoy. The owner is very friendly and he himself comes to your service a d ask feedback
Both of the vegan curries we tried were so good! Best food we ate in Iceland
We were there two times and it was amazing. Can strongly recomend Kadai chicken and both Tandoori. The food was delicious, the staff will refill the rice as many times as you want and for Iceland it was not even too expensive. The higlight was the owner and waiters, smilling and very friendly.Got job, keep rockin’ !
It is best if you go there for lunch. They have lunch offers for under 2000kr. which is a steal in Iceland! During lunchtime you can choose from three different options and the staff is very open and friendly. Veg options are limited tho.
Good Indian Food , Limited choice for Veg but can Build to order on Request . Honest Owners and Hardworking. We were reaching late to Akureyri ...Restaurant would have been closed by then ...But owner took order and waited for us to arrive for a take away...Thanks Sir .....Excellent customer service
Limited menu, but they do have vegetarian and vegan options. The chickpeas where a little stale in my veg korma, but everything else was pretty solid. The nan was crispy, not fluffy but about what I would expect in a tandoori style place.
We were looking for a place to eat near our house in akueyri and decided to go for indian food after seeing the restaurant on our way here. First of all, the service was very nice and thought the staff is pretty small, they gave us their full attention and were lovely! Secondly and most importantly, food was great! We were surprised to find such a good indian food in Iceland. They didn’t have any fish although the menu offers salmon and fish tandoori but that was the only problem we ran into. Definitely coming back next time we’re in Iceland!
