The broth is rich, creamy. The meat is tender. Have salt on the table to add to taste since the broth came only slightly or no seasoned. Overall, the meal made me comfortably full, not heavy at all. The ambience was cozy, not crowded, ajumas servants, cooks were having the meal break as well while still attended to guests coming in.

In the state, you find seolnongtang broth to be very milky & sticky but this place is bit clearer & not super sticky from other ingredients used to make it tasty/sticky.This place has been around for 118 years & it truly deserves to staying open for this long & hopefully many more years.Broth is very clean, refreshening, meat is so tendered and yet, not overly powerful that its loses its meaning of the soup.Worth trying & its also very good for hangover...lol.

Soup is white but I dont think its good enough. You need to add salt by yourself. I know some good beef soup doesnt need extra salt to increase the flavor. And they forgot my dipping sauces. And dont have a combination of different parts of the beef.

A very old Seolleongtang restaurant, soft meat and delicious boiled pork, but the soup is too bland, so it seems to be either liked or disliked.

Fine dining establishment run by some straight business women. Michelin star in 2022 and I can confirm it was delicious.

Looked for this place because Ive heard about it, so I had to check it for myself. The place looks small from the outside but very large inside. Long tables, and not fancy in any way.The menu is short. 3 options. But almost everybody gets the oaxtail soup. Thats the specialty. Its great! A little bland, so everyone adds some salt and pepper, but very good and hearty. It feels like real simple Korean cooking, and it is delicious. I highly recommend.

Oldest Korean Restaurant in Seoul. Very efficient service. The soup was not spectacular though. Tasted very watery, but everything else was good

If you find it too bland, a bit of salt and acid (from the kimchireally brings out the flavor of the onions and broth. Some assembly is required, but you can adjust to your taste.Good for a solo meal, and the menu isnt very complicated so its not hard to order without speaking Korean.

I cant say here is one of best place for Seolrungtang. It definitely is historical spot but original place is supposed to be changed. And taste is not delicious any more to me. Quite different taste comparing a few years visits before.

Korean old restaurant, famous for tradition Sul Nong Tang. its clean but old fashioned inside, most of guests are the old. Sul Nong Tang is nice and goes well with So-ju. I like here for atmosphere and taste of it.

Think no needs to explain here. Many Korean people love this place so that this restaurant has served over 100 years in Jong-ro area. And is you want to taste so Koean style dish with browth, you cant miss this place to go eating the Seolleong-tang which is the hard-boiled beef browth. When you come around Jong-gak subway station, youd better visit here.

Lots of great reviews so I thought I will give it a try. Saw on the outside of the restaurant that it has been recommended by Michelin quite a few times so I was more than excited! Was greatly disappointed by the taste though. The soup itself had zero flavour! After adding salt it got better but still incomprehensible why it’s so popular. No beefy taste as well. The only thing that was really flavorful and delicious was the 2 bowls of different kimchi they brought us..

Wow. Yummy, rich bone broth. Season it yourself with salt and white pepper and green onion. Load a spoon with rice soaked at the bottom, a slice of kimchee, and a piece of brisket and its the perfect bite. They only serve seolleontang so its easy to order. Easy place to eat alone. Kinda hidden in the back of a parking lot.

Honestly don’t understand it. First time came here at 8:30pm and was told the restaurant has closed. Came for the second time with high anticipation, only to find the soup tastes extremely bland, similar to rice water I would say. I added salt, scallion and Kim chi as everyone said, still, it’s not something I would come back for. For bone soup to be boiled for hours and hours, the taste should be much stronger and richer. Would not recommend. Over hyped, underwhelmed.

My first meal in Seoul which happened to be around the corner from my hotel. You come in, sit down and theyll give you an English menu if youre a foreigner. I thought it was good but you do need to add salt, scallion and in my case some kimchi in the broth. A bowl costs 10.000 won. The restaurant is the first eatery in Korea to officially register for license in 1904 and is included in the Michelin Bib Gourmand list.

We could not understand how this place could be worth a mention in michelin guide, with its such light broth and so-so beef quality.

Living in Los Angeles and having easy access to seolleongtang I had to see if it was better in the mother land. This place is in the Michelin guide, I found the broth to be too light in flavor and lacking a good beef flavor. The other reason I’m not a big fan is the strong “smell” in the broth. Anyone who’s ever cooked beef tendon knows that it can have a stink to it unless you pre-boil it before hand and clean it hella good to get ride of the stinky smell in it but I found his place doesn’t do that and cooks the tendon right in the broth thus causing it to have that stinky tendon flavor and smell. I also did not prefer that they add the rice right in the bowl. This might also be the reason the broth doesn’t taste very beefy and taste too watery. Kimchi sides are very good though and are self serve at the table.

As the oldest restaurant in Seoul this is a nice bit of history to visit while in Insadong. Though there are places in Seoul to get better seolleongtang, Imun does serve a traditional tasting bowl. The beef seems to be from different cuts of the cow wihich is a culinary treat.

Very wholesome. The food was good and they were really nice. For people who are experiencing this for the first time, you need to put the salt to taste. Also try to mix kimchi and the kimchi sauce to the soup to give it a twist! Kimchi and tea/water can be refilled.

Apparently this place is on the Michelin guide 2019. It shouldnt be. Had a better version of this in busan. Also, the servers here are really pushy. The server who took our order didnt leave until we ordered. Another server tried to take our food away early so that we could pay the bill and leave. Large bins of kimchi and scallions are placed at your table and are self serve, except the servers kept taking them away and shuffling them. Also the air conditioner above us kept dripping water beside our table.

There is one of the oldest restaurant in the South Korea. Many people said Imun is established in 1904. So you can feel old-style Korean restaurant from there. But of course Imun changed several times. But this restaurant has their mood.Unfortunately I dont like Imuns beef soup. Why? I like rich taste. But Imuns beef sooup is too light for me. Also boiled beef is expensive for me. But I enjoyed mood of Imun. So if you have time and you want to visit old style Korean restaurant, plz visit here.

Came here because of the good reviews and the fact that they’ve been making this beef soup for a century, they must be getting it right. But unfortunately I was let down by the overall taste. Thought it was pretty bland for a beef bone soup. All it contained was some slices of beef, rice and noodles. It’s 10k won for a bowl. Didn’t think it was worth the price. Perhaps it’s something the locals appreciate better?

When you open a door of restaurant, you smell little awkward. But taste of soup and meat are pretty good. You need to make your own taste by adding some salt and water from Kimchi.

supposedly the oldest restaurant in Seoul, they serve a simple menu of seolnongtang (oxbone soup). the soup is cloudy, and came pretty blame for us so add salt and spring onion to taste. also comes with free for Kim chi and radish. we had better ones in Seoul but not sure if that was a personal preference to the broth that was served

Read good reviews from travel blogs which have great reviews on the food. This shop even had a Michelin Star on its front door. However, I find it quite difficult to finish the entire portion of SooYook. Locals might find this shop a hidden gem, but I don’t recommend this place for travelers who are not a fan of cow organs.

Not sure why the Michelin and decent ratings. The condiment containers on the table were old and not well kept. The diced scallions were kept in an open plastic container that didnt look like theyd been washed in some time, and the scallions were semi dry.The seolnongtang was ok and so was the nuckle soup - AVERAGE at best. The seolnongtang comes with steamed rice already mixed in the broth, but the rice was too sticky. Not worth a second look. Plenty of other places that serve the same food but better and in a more convenient location.

The 설농탕 is famous here. People come from all over to eat the 설농탕. The restaurant was packed when I came here with my uncle. The 설농탕 was one of the best Ive had. The 김치 was fresh and crisp. They only make a few dishes and they do it real well. I can see why people come from everywhere.

IF I could give more than 5 stars, I would. The selection is simple - three dishes, thats it. Their seollungtang is good enough to base an entire trip to Korea for it.The soup is rich and hearty, and the pickled side dishes are crispy and delightful.

How often do you get to eat in a restaurant that is over a 100 years old? This place is really old school. The sullungtang comes out in a few seconds and already has the rice loaded in. Its not the best Ive had, but was still very tasty. Its worth it to try for the nostalgia.
