Right in the center, amazing location. Great rooms and very friendly staff
Possibly the ugliest building in London, certainly in Bloomsbury - a disgrace to the architecture of Russell Square.
The room was tidy. It was cleaned every day, and Ill give 5 stars for the cleanlyness, but the room lacked ventilation, and it became too hot when the temperature outside passed 30°C or more. The pillows were a little too hard for my taste, and I couldnt use the duvet, because the room was too hot to use it.It was also not possible to pull the curtain all the way in front of the window (see the picturebecause it was stuck in the curtain rail in the ceiling.
Lovely place for a holiday anytime of the year
GoogleImperial Hotel has been closed for over 18 months for a Total refurbishment, It seems that the Reservations department are still not 100% Certain of the opening Dates as of August 7th 2022.If Anybody from The Imperial Hotel group reads these reviews then please give a update. THANK YOU
I used the car park whilst visiting the museum that is nearby. I paid £14 for 4 hours. The payment is taken on your way out from security, I was able to pay by card. The bays were spacious and there was adequate lighting. There isnt a clear pedestrian entrance to the car park, I just followed the way out signs to exit. Upon returning, youre supposed to access the car park from inside the hotel. However, some just walk down through the car entrance area. Good central location to get to the British museum.
I didn’t stay in the hotel but we did use the car park whilst in London and then thought this would be a nice place to stay when we come again and stay overnight. This was until I asked to use the toilet and was told we could not, even when I said I had just had an operation a few days before and needed the toilet I was still told no I could not . So you will take my money to park here but will not let me use the toilet and be rude about it and that I needed to as I had just had an operation a few days before….. so no we won’t use your car park again and no we will not stay here in the future….. rude service and just want your money….
Great value for money and only a nice 20 minute walk to Trafalgar Square if you go through nine dials area GREAT
I checked in last night + have to say the staff at this hotel deliver an excellent customer service. Thank you so much I will book again soon x
Its great building, but unfortunately dirty rooms and not good isolation, I was not sleeping half of night, because some neighbor room was caughing so much.
Great customer service and the breakfast food was amazing. The EV charging station is available at the hotel parking.
Great hotel in London. Part of a group of similar hotels around Bloomsbury. Offering highly competitive budget rates at traditional properties. Highly recommended for visitors who just need bed and breakfast and will be out of the hotel during the day. I have stayed many times. Great memories with my father 😁👍🏻❤️
Centrally located with pretty views over Russell Square. Lovely and caring receptionists and super helpful concierge. Room always clean and spotless attended by nice housekeepers
It wasnt vacuumed when we arrived. Its old and worn out. Small breakfast with little to choose from. Those who work in the restaurant look dead in the eyes and dont have any interest of being there. Our last night there was a party in the restaurant till 3 oclock in the morning, making it impossible to sleep.Dont recommend.
We stayed for two nights this week and had the lovely surprise of a suite which was excellent. There was a roll top bath on a raised platform with a fabulous sea view and his and hers basins, great shower too! A traditionally styled hotel, very clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff and great service.
Adore this hotel, my only choice for when I come up to London: beds are comfortable, staff is lovely, all spaces and rooms are clean (ok, a bit spartan, but who cares, also: rooms have beautiful views over Russell Square & Bloomsbury), breakfast & food is ok and super easy to walk to main museums, shops and good food places. Just called to ask when theyll be re-opening after lockdown ... bad news is that its going to reopen next spring (wanted to go this September), good news is that they are refurbishing. Hope they keep the great staff & housekeeping & restaurants & affordability. See you soon!
Staff are friendly and helpful. However when we asked for disabled room near the lift we were told all the disabled rooms were not near the lifts. Ours was at the very end of a very long corridor. Not every disabled person is wheelchair users, so think they need to rethink this. Breakfast was ok, egg wasnt good but everything else was edible.
Conveniently situated in Russell Square about 5 min from the Tube Station, and about 20 min walk into the West End. The rooms are reasonably set out, although the corridors are due for re-decoration. Breakfast is buffet style with hot and cold choices, and is of a good standard. The Attrium Lounge offers drinks at reasonable prices in an Art Deco setting. Check out their website for Sunday night reductions if included in the stay. Staff very helpful.
Great price for new years eve! We took 2 rooms, seemeless check-in with very polite and well mannered staff. Hotel is not super modern this classic look could definitely benefit from a upgrade but for the price we was happy! Breakfast was not enjoyable for us the quality could be improved and added to the price, overall you get what you pay and we was very happy with the hotel it is a mile or so walk to Westminster and the Palace! Over the road from the hotel is a lovely park
It tries but its tired. The decor has not changed for decades. If you book through a tourist agent, (onlineand select for a double bed, you will get two tiny single beds, that feel like cots. One of our beds were close to falling apart. The spring on it was ready to go out the window. Water pressure bad, taps leaked easily. The hotel staff were not accommodating and lacked empathy. Seems as though they heard all the comaplints before. Breakfast was horrible. Location is good, right on Russel Square.
No complaints about food, we feel that a room without double glazing is not only noisy but very cold windows which means a lot of heat escaping, plus toilet no hand basin(not able to wash hands after useing toilethand basin in shower room otherside of corridor. Did have very useful car park which was handy.
Unfortunately the hotel rooms are still in the 90s. I didnt have digital TV and no HDMI input option. No bedside plugs and very dated decorations and no obvious heating controls although I didnt ask so not 100%. The bed was very firm and the pillows rather thin. Bathroom was okay but could do with an update. The majority of staff were very friendly and helpful except one who was Manning the porters desk. I wouldnt stay again personally!
no safe in the rooms, and cleaning service is outsourced, so hotel staff refuses to take responsibility for what cleaning staff do: they disregarded the do not disturb sign and just went in. REPEATEDLY! upon complaining to the front desk TWICE, two different employees said i should talk to the cleaning company myself.DO NOT LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN THE ROOM!!rooms are small, with only two power outlets. if you share a room you might need to take turns to charge your devices.breakfast is -meh- and the dining room, shared with an adjacent hotel, gets crowded immediately. factor in a 10 or 15 minute queue to be seated. before your first coffee. do your own math.
I was going to stay in the royal national hotel but I was shocked what I was greeted with upon arrival, after a 10-hour flight I walked into my allocated room and there were skid marks all around the shower I refused to stay at the hotel. They offered me a complimentary meal but if they cant even clean their rooms I dread to think what the food is like! I was very disappointed and will never be returning to a Hotel run by this disgusting chain.
Great hotel for the price you pay. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is great. The complimentary first night dinner ( we chose to go the popadom palacewas a nice touch. The Imperial is in a nice area with lots of good pubs and restaurants and it is centrally located...we will be back.
Stayed for 2 nights in a single room.ROOMRoom was clean. Some linen, appliances etc. probably nearing the end of its life but still acceptable. As for size, small but definitely what I expected and satiafactory for what I paid.Room felt secure and staff were helpful.Only negative was the shower. Although the pressure was fine, you need the touch of an experienced neurosurgeon to get the temperature correct.BREAKFASTSound, traditional breakfast. Would pay for it and not complain.LOCATIONAwesome location. 5 minute walk to Russell Square tube station (Picadilly Line). Fair few pubs and places to eat within walking distance (15 minutes).Added the view from my room, which I thought was pretty solid.
At first glance, it looks real nice. A fountain, chandeliers, tapestries. Upon a closer look, it’s real old. We stayed in the executive double. No air vents, no air conditioning, no fridge, no iron, teeny-tiny tv. This could have been made up for by the customer service, but unfortunately all customer service (from front desk to restaurantwas appalling. Some grunts and head nods.
Great hotel. Rooms were small by American standards but had everything we needed and was very clean. Front desk staff was very helpful. Breakfast was traditional English foods. Would stay there again.
We stayed at the hotel for 5 days and I can easily say that it was a good experience. The negative points are that you can hear the outside too much and that the TV has very few channels. Now there is a great counterbalance : its an old styled hotel that I personally liked even if it may not be to the taste of everybody. The personnel at the reception is really helpful and here for you. The housekeeper is really effective too (Even too much to be honestand really kind. The breakfast is cool, it is the same every day but you can eat a lot and its good (in my opinion). There is a bar who can answer to your desires. I dont regret it even if my sleep was a little chaotic due to the single bed.
Handy location, with numerous places to eat and drink nearby, as well as various shops. Rooms were clean and cozy. Staff were very helpful with introductions and booking taxis. Overall, definitely good value for your money!
Decent hotel. The receptionists are friendly and hard working, the room is clean and simple. The beds are not comfortable, although that may be personal due to my own bed at home.Location is fine. Near the Underground Russel Square (Piccadilly lineand a few minutes walk to the Biritsh Museum.
Didnt stay here just went in for coffee and used the underground car park , which we have done on several occasions. The car park is very reasonably priced , the attendant is a very friendly man , always has a smile and a welcome. The staff in the hotel are polite and efficient.
Decent room and bathroom close enough to all the sights and goings on. Next to a lovely park with lots of food places and the odeon nearby. No noises from neighbours and comfy enough beds. Pretty happy with our weekend away here!
Christmas package 2018, what a wonderful experience my friend and I had from the moment of arrival at reception on Christmas Eve until departure on December 27th. Our rooms were clean, warm and comfortable. The food was excellent and plentiful, catering for all tastes and appetites. All the staff were exceedingly helpful, polite, knowledgeable and very smart. My friend Millie Harvey and myself will definitely visit again and recommend to others. Wishing everybody a very happy 2019.
A bit basic and in need of a refurbishment. Breakfast good but breakfast layout like a dated holiday camp or boarding school with all tables clumped together in middle of the room. Not giving very much privacy and a feeling like a battery chicken.
Nice hotel with a great location and decent price point. The hotel is old and worn, but not dirty which is nice, but you get what you pay for, so do expect bad bed and holes ind the bed linen - but because of its location we will gladly revisit - but had the price been much higher it would have been 1-2 stars.Something to notice is also they charge to keep you luggage after checking out, first time I have tried this, and you can only pay cash. Considering few people have cash, this forces you make a 20 pound withdrawal in order to have you suitcases keept - in our case for 1 hour, that is just crazy expensive and very bad service.
Location is excellent but for the price, Ive got to be completely honest that I was bitterly disappointed with the room. It felt like I was blasted back 20 years. There was mould on the windows and the bed was awful to say lightly. The toilet and bathroom were separate compartments. The toilet didnt have sink to wash your hands. The one star is the best I could give. I definetely will never be going back to this hotel to stay.
It doesnt look like 3stars hotel. Really loud inside rooms. You can hear everything whats going on outside the building. On breakfasts poor choice, but can eat something... Its London so the prices are high, but the quality to price is really low here. From the pros: nice and friendly stuff at reception and good location.
breakfast is tasty. Service is good.. They charged me 1p to hold my suitcase and handbag for a few of hours until my flight. My room overlooked the backyard so I cant say much of the view of the front rooms. Fantastic neighbourhood!!! The 6 elevators take immediately to yr room there is no waiting.
Room okay. Breakfast was chaotic. Was very busy and they were trying g their best . Cooked food got out quickly but other items such as bread etc. Was not kept stocked up. Good got cold very quickly though .
As hotels go I expected and got budget. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was basic but clean. Breakfast was plentiful. The underground parking (not part of hotel business but part of the hotel), its price and location make this a great base for visiting central London.
Stayed for one night last night and I was pleasantly surprised. I had a nice , clean, small single room facing a quiet area not the main road. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely recommend it if you need somewhere to stay for central London area. I had a wedding 20 minutes walk from the hotel and this was just a perfect location.
Stayed there twice and dont think its worth the money.Small rooms, and they arent anything special. Breakfast doesnt start until 7/7:30 which is too late for people wanting to get an early start. Beds moved too easily and the tub was really high to step in and out of. I guess youre paying for the decent location, but I think there are better options.
Highly recommended central London hotel at very reasonable prices. Good size no nonsense rooms. Good breakfast. Clean. Friendly and efficient reception. However, on the rare occasion when it gets really hot in London, rooms are unbearable to stay in due to lack of aircon.
Very clean but as there is no double glazing the traffic is very loud all night. The beds are quite soft, you tend to sink a little in the middle. Still enjoyed the stay there and easy access to the tube. Plenty places to eat around.
The stuff was very friendly and helpful. The room is ok. The location is excellent. There was no air conditioning in the room which was very annoying since it was extremely hot when we were there. And the curtains are too thin so it was not dark enough and we got up too early.
My wife and I stayed in an executive room in May 2017. The room was extremely large by modern hotel standards and even had two sinks in the en suite. The staff were very friendly and efficient especially in reception. The room was clean and well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. There does not appear to be any air conditioning in the accommodation rooms but in this country that certainly was not a problem. There was a continuous mechanical noise from somewhere on the hotel site that may inconvenience light sleepers and the breakfast was well cooked although the bacon had stuck together on the three days we were there and if you wanted one slice you could end up with three or four! The Day/Night bar has an outside area looking towards Russell Square and a very busy road that leads to Euston railway station. We had a good stay at the hotel and think it is value for money.
We have just returned from a three night stay and highly recommend this hotel. It is very central, walking distance to Trafalgar Square, the Thames river cruises, British Museum and many other attractions. The hotel staff were excellent from receptionists, waiters to cleaning staff, all friendly and courteous. Breakfasts and carvery evening meal were delicious. Rooms very clean with pure white sheets and towels. Well done to all.
Pretty central location, close to Kings Cross. Room wasnt anything special, but I wasnt expecting the Hilton when I booked. Comfy, but a little noisy outside. Breakfast next morning was great. Overall would stay again for a business trip.
