Imparatul Romanilor Hotel in Sibiu

The location is great. The services are fast and properly and the rooms are very spacious and clean. Maybe the pool need more things.

First the two positive items: the location and the parking arrangement.The Rest is very negative. The bathroom is 19th century. The reception staff is extremely unfriendly and not willing to help at all. We heard from others similar remarks. Badly managed hotel, definitely NOT a recommendation.

Room and bathroom very small. I needed a desk work area. Had to relocate after 1 night.

An enigmatic hotel in the centre of town. Service could not be faulted. The place is a little tired but very clean. Staff seem very young but do a great job. Parking was easy and handy too.

Would not recomend at all, not even close to 4 stars. Extremely dated, bathtub with spots, old wooden windows in the bathroom, seats with torn upholstery; spa area is horrible…like it was actualy built during the roman empire and never renovated (the entrance is through a tiny dark corridor with small old wooden dors, lot of rust across the pool anywhere you look, cloudy water.

A really fantastic hotel in the middle of the city. Here emperor Franz Josef and Johannes Brahms already stayed. Very nice rooms, extraordinary breakfast. There are also free parking spaces at a parking place close to the hotel. Just inform the guard diu are staying at the hotel and then issue a free parking card at the reception. All in all a clear recommendation.

Sorry this is just not 4 Stars. The twin bed rooms were something below 1 star in its own category. The air-conditioning is extremely loud and takes a lot of room.HOWEVER, the bathrooms are very nice. The beds are semi-comfortable (which is positive), the reception is truly amazing, and the location is spot on in the centre of Sibiu. Very, very nice location. When you go holidays, you dont go for sitting in a hotel, you go for visiting the city your in. So overall, it aint that bad. I would recommend for a 1-2 night stay.REMINDER - I was in a twin bed room. The apartments are probably much better.

I think is by far the best place to have a special function from 20-100 people. From the exquisite food, new and enthusiastic management, extremely flexible to cater to all the needs, to the sliding roof that has still an amazing WoW factor. Thank you to the staff and to the management.

For sure is not 4 stars hotel, 3 stars at most. Heavy smell in the lobby from the rug. Same smell in the rooms. Small rooms, a lot of small issues with furniture and bathroom. Some rooms (standardhave view only to the internal yard. About restaurant: I tried to have lunch at the hotel restaurant but waiter was very unhappy having customers, so I left. Only location is 4 stars, very close to Hystorical City Centre.

Great place in the heart of town, hotel rooms are old, no warm water in my room... but nice people at front desk.

I had an excellent stay! The room was clean, as was the rest of the hotel. The staff was kind and helpful at all times. The breakfast in the fancy room was the highlight! So beautiful and the food was of the best quality and there were tons of vegan options (including tofuand vegan milk.

On my way home from here. Stayed with my son had a lovely time. Staff very helpful, good breakfast. The beds were comfortable stayed at the back of the hotel so it was more quiet with the busy street. My son whos 11 years old loved the pool. Rooms cleaned every day. Love the chabby chic french style furniture beautiful! ❤️

Great hotel with a long history, one of the oldest in Romania. Great spa!

Good position, nice place was maybe few years ago, the bathroom was awful (as you can see in the picture). The mini bar doesn’t work and have only 1 bottle of water. When we go to take the breakfast at 9.45 we don’t found almost nothing and the waiters are disaster. I don’t recommend this location even if have good location. In this moment is: the fall of the roman emperor.

Absolutely terrible restaurant service. Came for a table and was told to wait two minutes, only to find the waiter just went home and left us there. So I had to ask again, after this we ordered food and waited an hour and a half while asking twice where the food and drinks were, they didnt even bring 2 drinks in this time. When we asked where the food was we got no response from the waiter and he just walked off. So we left.All in this time they were waiting on other tables and could see we had nothing.I wouldnt recommend until they sort their attitude out and their customer service. Awful experience.

The employees (reception, serving, cleaningare very good. Location is very good. Rooms have old tubs/showers, amd some old furniture, bit for fhe rest its ok.

The carpet...smells on the room.need decorated!!! No ventilation on the bathroom, need improvement...but excellent service food was ok( too many people to serve), great location!!!

Overall good place. But to be honest I chose it just because it is the only option with spa area in the old town. So I was disappointed to find out the pool is very small. Also I think something is not ok with the chemicals they add in the water because my eyes were itching. Saunas were barely heating.

A good hotel in the center of Sibiu. Its highlights are the indoor pool and their own parking. However some small appliances in the room (door knob, bathroom clothes hangercould be better maintained.

Outdated facilities. Shower could not provide hot water (just dribbledbecause hotel was at capacity. Poor staff struggled to handle the number of guests as well. Room temps are uncontrollable. Building needs a major remodel but at least you will be near the square for a really expensive price.

I am here. I must recognized that this hotel need some improvements;The carpet - is used, very used.The bathroom - used and some fine and even more pronounced traces of previous quests… ehhh!The windows - the wind is in the room too !And more…So: avoid this hotel until some investments !!!

For a four stars hotel, it worth. A little too expensive the meals. And not so quiet, its in the middle, the crowd is just under your window

Skip the restaurant! We waited 30 min for drinks and 1,5 hour for food (the place wasnt even full!!!). Starters and mains came the same time for couple of us and other had to wait additional 30 min. Food was tasteless and in the end of the dinner I was just sad.

As long as you re patient and not in a hurry, you should be able 2 enjoy it. Food looks and tastes great! Was dissappointed about the desert missing the special dry ice...

Food is excellent, but not exactly children-friendly. The duck breast is top-notch and the pistachio mousse is heavenly.

5 star services at a 4 star Hotel! Super cozy and comfortable rooms, right at the heart of Sibiu, 50 meters from the city center! Good food and nice views! A place worthwhile!

Starting from welcoming till the farewell, it was such an amazing, comfortable and satisfying journey.All concerns and questions on our mind just wiped out with our very first steps. Their big smiles were recognizable even behind masks, controlled but sincere body languages gave us the confidence while walking to our tables. Sanitizers on tables, user friendly food and beverages menus were positively surprising gems for us.Waiters are quite knowledgeable with the menu and easily answered our questions, i.e you must try their breakfast.We are forever grateful to Raluca Negoescu and Ruben for making our short vacation memorable:)

An old and elegant building in the historical Center of Sibiu.A clean hotel, but also with lots of problems:- the rooms are smaller than you see in the pictures- no air conditioner in the rooms- some bugs in the bathroom every night (coming from the sink)- room service tax (40RON)- old and rusty shower, spreading water allover the bathroom- the minibar is kind of a joke (water, Coke and one beer)- breakfast is also limited, due to pandemicsThere are few positive things also:+ the hotel is close to everything in the city+ looks elegant+ amenities în the bathroom+ the roof of the restaurant opens in few seconds, pretty coolOverall, its not a 4* hotel, and the price for one room (400 RONis too high for the services they offer.

Well at about 8 pm at my first day there, when I came back into my room, I found out the air conditioner was lacking an extract air tube and thus was blowing all the hot air back in the room again.I told the receptionist about the problem and he gave me another room. in that room, there was a tube, but it was ending just inside the room, so practically again the same problem. I told him again, he sent a technician to my room and meanwhile checked all other free rooms (they all had the same problem), and the technician told me in a very unfriendly way, he doesnt see my problem, I could just put the tube behind the furniture and than just left the room before I could even answer.The receptionist then apologised for him and told me, tomorrow I could meet with a hotel manager so we could find a solution. If they couldnt solve the issue, they would give me a refund (actually no use, my customer paid, but better than nothingor give me a voucher for the restaurant/bar.Meanwhile it was late at night and all restaurants were closed, so I had to have dinner at a kebab place that was not nice. Next day, a new receptionist told me, the manager would meet me at 11. So I came to the reception at 11 and he told me, the manager would be a little late, and would come to my room in 20 minutes. More than an hour later I came back to the reception, asking how long I would still have to wait, only to hear from a woman sitting next to the counter (dont know if she was the manager), that she is very sorry, but it is like this in every room and I should just open the window and put the end of the tube outside. And thats it.So I spend hours of waiting only to hear this.By the way, to put the tube outside, the window needs to be completly open, so the AC couldnt have much effect.One star is for the night receptionist who really put as much effort as possible in finding a solution and obviously had a better technical understanding than the technician. Also the Hotel at all looked quite beautiful with all the old furniture and all that.PS: I almost forgot, in the second room the holder of the shower head was broken, so I had to hold it in my hand while showering. So changing the room initially was actually even a downgrade.

Great atmosphere in a place loaded with history. Helpful staff in the hotel and restaurant. Hotel restaurant has not a very extensive menu, but selection is very good and quality of the courses is excellent.

Surprisingly not great. The room was spacious but everything felt old. The entrance door of our room wouldnt open properly (it will get stuck closed and youll have to push really hard to open). The cleaning lady came only once in 4 days we were there (and even then only pick up the trash. She never made beds, never brought new toilet paper, never changed towels (even though we explicitly left it on the floor). I feel like giving it 3 stars is a bit too much for how poor the service was but the location is great (less than 100 m from the bruckenthal museumand price-wise wasnt bad either. Definitely didnt feel like a 4 star hotel, though...

Big room with a comfortable bed and plenty of closet space…and also very quiet. Breakfast was very good (you have three different options). Location is perfect. Staff was also great.

Smallest bathroom Ive seen in a long time, rooms have an air of cheap hotel, Ive never seen a not working TV (no channelsin a hotel. You can here everything from rooms nearby. Only good thing is I stay here only one night.

The hotel is nice. The food in the restaurant was great for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was a bit disappointing: the same everyday, the bread cant be eaten unless toasted and the coffee wasnt great. The room was spacious: we had the junior suite with 2 bathrooms. The swimming pool is a good size and its amazing because the water is very warm.

This hotel is a great choice, the rooms are big and have all the needed facilities, including bath robes, slippers, vanity kits and so on (I believe these are some of the little things that make a difference in terms of how a stay at a hotel feels). The furniture might be a bit old and the bed was not very comfortable, but I think it keeps the imperialist vibe and sort of fits with its theme. The breakfast was the same everyday, the variety of things to eat was not that big (but given the 3 star rating, I’d say it was fine). The food was good overall. The staff was amazing, very helpful and kind. The location is also very good, right in the old city center, very close to the Christmas market, there are a lot of restaurants nearby and so on. It was great staying at this hotel and I highly recommend it.

He didnt give us any information at all.I could say the worst experience in a reception...To express my opinion, a tie and a blazer doesnt make someone receptionist..Shame that some work in hospitality and they have no idea of it...

The hotel is in a fabulous location in Sibiu and is beautifully adorned with gilt mirrors and portraits in the halls and foyer, but the facilities are a tad old and tricky to work. If you’re into a spa bath in your room with a side wall window, then this is the place to visit. The breakfast is an OK smorgasbord board affair, but head elsewhere for your coffee.

Perfect location, 50m from great square. My actual score is 4,5 due to the lack of air conditioning in the room. Still, it was not a great issue even day temp was above 35C. Other than that, room was perfect.

Really dated and poorly maintained rooms. Furniture was broken (chairs would not sit on their own feetsheets had grey dirt marks on them, toilet seat was brown on the underside, faucets were flimsy and turned without water coming out, bath tub drain was very slow water would accumulate in the tub, water had a brown tint. Interior decorations were very good, especially the common areas, great location within walking distance to everything. Very hot in the room, no AC but they had a fan in there which did nothing but noise.

The location is perfect . Most rooms were updated , so make sure to get one of those. Our room was big with two bathrooms. Breakfast was nice. The restaurant service was exceptionally good and the food was nice.

It is a beautiful and spacious hotel. The look is made luxuriously. The hotel is located in the center of the city close to the square. Sibiu is a beautiful city with a lot of history and therefore you can do a few nights here. The breakfast is well taken care of and you have a choice of different things. A disadvantage is that the mattress in our room was hard and not nice. The shower door also clamped.

Great hotel! The rooms are beautiful and the decor throughout the hotel is majestic and romantic. Yes, its a vintage style, but I loved it. I felt like I was staying in a palace.There is a really cool pool (way too much chlorine though), a sauna and a restaurant. I didnt eat at the restaurant, but right down the street is the square. The room had a portable AC in the living area, the bed was SO COMFORTABLE!!!My room had two bathrooms and the bedroom was separeted from a living space with a couch and two chairs.I felt like royalty. I will be back next time Im in Romania!

Great receptionists (smiling me!!! Incredible! Romanians really never do that to tourists). For the rest Ive to say I will not go back there. My flat had bed on middle flat so every time I needed something (eg. toilet or take stuff from my luggage that was down level, upside only bedI had to step up&down, really annoying. No AC and no possible to set/stop heating so my room was an oven (mainly when I was in bed, upsideand no chance to reduce it! I choosed this hotel for fitness and SPA mainly!! Most of machines into the gym were broken or not working. Also the indoor swimming pool had 50% of water sprinkles broken/off. Saunas (dry and wetwere ok.Breakfast horrible. Very low quality of meal. Self service coffee machine instead of fresh coffee, Würstels, salamis and cheeses that I found in discounts!! In fact I skipped it the second day although I already paid it and I preferred to have it in another place. I understand Im in Romania and here the level of hotels is lower than Italy where I come from but for a 4* hotel I expected more honestly! Price is expensive considered these stuff!!Internet fast!! Very good!10 to Andreea receptionist! Hard worker (I found her all day long back the desk), smiling and She helped me to solve a problem!

The "Roman Emperor" Hotel, or "Imparatul Romanilor" Hotel, is one of the first hotels built in the city. It has an old vintage look, filled with golden objects, which make it pretty kitschy, but overall its a place for people who love old stuff. The prices are not very high and the breakfast is really good. The rooms are comfortable, but without AC, as it is a historical building (you can get a fan if you want). There even is a wellness. The hotel lacks essential services, such as a lobby bar, or bigger welness facilities.
