Illahee State Park in Bremerton

Awesome park for day use and early evening dog walking! Had the place practically to ourselves. My girls were quite excited on the trails!

Unexpectantly nice! Beautiful beach, old trees, camping areas, clean bathrooms!

Nice state park with mixed forests, a single loop and about 25 sites. The trails to the pier has a drop of 200 or so feet in elevation with steps.

Great local park with nice hiking paths, picnic tables, and ocean views. Discover pass is required and there is a patrol checking for them but you can pay at the kiosk down by the waterfront if you need one.

This is been a home park for a long time. I visited for day use hundreds of times :-we’ve use the moorage buoys and tied up to the dock, walked out to the sandy beach, launch boats, kayaks and had wonderful pictures picnics and portraits there

This isnt the most exciting of state parks, but its nice. Its not a busy place, so you wont have difficulty finding parking. There are plenty of picnic tables and good spots under the shade. Would likely be a good spot for small family gatherings as there is probably always an open couple of tables you can find. There are some play areas for kids, a couple open areas for years games, and a trail down to the water (careful - lots of stairs, not a very handicap-accessible trail). Dont worry: theres also parking down by the water if you cant do the trail. The park is also dog-friendly.

Love this place. Crabbing is easy access and there are clams and oysters too. Friendly people and a beautiful location.

Campsites are so close to each other that you can hear your neighbors conversations. This park is too close to civilization that it draws some "interesting" campers. Dont expect the park hosts or park employees to patrol the campgrounds to keep things in check. Someone locked their dog in the tent and left for several hours and the dog barked incessantly. Another campsite had people working on their car at 3am and used a floodlight that shone into our campsite. We had the campsite reserved for two nights. Left after one night.

This was a nice campground, but not a lot of privacy. Bathrooms and showers are clean and well kept. The water is beautiful but you cant really swim and the beach is covered in oyster shells and jellyfish. Nice campgrounds, just not my ideal place, no playground.

Discocer pass needed or $10 day use fee. Camping available. About 30 vehicle parking down below, restrooms, outdoor shower/ rinse station. Steps down to the beach, small boat launch, great for kayaking. A dock for crabbing, fishing, boat docking. A couple bbq grills, picnic tables.

The park & people here are great! Its so peaceful, its almost unbelievable that its so close to businesses, highways & homes.The only negative things I can think of are that the "playground" needs updating & I think camping process are too high, but thats all dictated by the state.

The best camping site close to Seattle. The ferry runs every two hours and is 15 minutes from the dock. The campsite was a pretty private space and the phone signal was good.

Local camping getaway, trails to walk, BBQ areas, shelter can be rented, staff on duty.

First there was supposedly nothing free, then we were allowed to stand only through the help of a volunteer on a site that was unused for 2 days. The next day we were allowed to stand on the parking lot. Have the ranger extra asked to report if what is free we would take the place. From our day trip from Seattle we called 4 times without success and left a message on the answering machine. No one answered. Then just wanted to spend the night in the parking lot and paid the site fee. At 21:30 clock came the rangers and said it would now be free. Then had to unpark in pajamas because man should not spend the night in the parking lot. Everything extremely strange and completely unreliable by phone. The petty behavior I did not even know from Germany in the extreme ... Last visit here.

We visited the beach during a nice minus tide. The bathroom was well kept, the beach was nice and clean.The only issue I had was the pay station. I was hoping to pay for an annual Discovery pass, but the digital credit card pay part was broken. I had enough cash to pay for a one-day pass but had to scrounge around in the car to find a pen.I havent been to Illahee much as an adult but once I get the Discovery pass I will go there a lot!

Lots of grades (6-9and a bit of a steep entry. The actual campgroud was really nice, the travelers I met were nice, but the "locals" were crazy. The people next to me where bringing in trash they found to burn. Doing weird stuff under a tarp. Made a bunch of tarp tents with garbage and who knows what. Chopping firewood in the middle of the night and early morning hours. Then the next night someone caught their car on fire. The fire truck did come really fast. The sounds of them sawing the car open to put the fire out at 4am-6am was pretty dramatic. Probably wont happen when you are there. Nice tiny sandy beach if you catch low ride the zigzag road down to the water gave lovely views. Did briefly see a seal.

This is a beautiful spot with great amenities.

Not much to do except.one trail that goes down from upper parking lot to the water. There is parking closer to the water too.There are a couple of picnic tables .There might be another trail which was closed when we visited.

Great beach for walks, and sand castles. Boat launch and other facilities available. Nice local campgrounds.

Quite spot to sit and watch the water and the rain. It was a tad busy even early in the am when I was there last so that was a bit of a downer. But the park is there for everyone to enjoy.

From 1977-2019 my family owned a home next door to Illahee State park and it was a paradise for me from ages 9-24 living there.Ive celebrated many birthdays, church outings, BBQs, bike/skateboard ride sessions, secret rendezvous, or whatever else I was involved with between the ages of 9-24. Seriously beautiful and this park truly represents what the NW is all about.This property is very "vertical" meaning the campgrounds are on the upper part of the property with hookups/showers/waste, ballfield and picnic areas, and the water access is at least a 300 ft elevation hike/drive to the lower part. There is a pier for fishing as well a boat launch and day moorage for boats. BBQ/picnic areas are located both on the upper and lower part of the park.BREATHTAKING views of puget sound, Bainbridge Island, old growth forests, moss and everything else you can imagine the NW to represent... especially if you hike the trail from top-bottom or back. Scenic views all along the route but you will not miss out if you drive down.Perhaps Im nostalgic for this place as it represents so many years of my youth, but Im sure you will enjoy it as much as have over the years.A+++

We were the only people camping there along with the camp host. It is a very nice little campground. Not a lot of hiking to do but the hill hike there is a workout.

It was beautiful and peaceful and I needed the peaceful and met a wonderful lady and now we are friends

Had a wonderful time relaxing by the water. Bring your fishing pole, kayak or boat you will be so happy you did.

Great camping. Nice boat launch (great views). No playground really. Who cuts down a playground?! Slide still here but so is evidence of a see-saw and another thing. They cut them out… would have been 5 stars with playground.

Easy dock to tie up the boat or to drive to! Clean bathrooms. Walking trails. Affordable to stay over. We absolutely loved it here!

Illahee State Park is clean and peaceful. I go to the waterfront a few times a week with my dog, Lasy. I camped in one of the sites available, which all have big tables, a tent pad, and a steel ringed fire pit.

Very nice and quite place , clean where you can enjoy your 🚶 around the park and little beach, or camping or just spend a picnic day . Very beautiful forrest !

Great beach, but a little bumpy mooring on a buoy. Thats because of the Bremerton ferry. 5 buoys and a dock. Large rv and campground area up top. Plenty of space to walk the dogs or stretch your legs.

Its a nice park! Lots of parking, clean and bathrooms also clean! Greater place for pictures and they have life vest at the marina for the kids.

Very cool park and dock area. Will definitely go visit it again. I’d highly recommend dressing warming than you think you need to. The wind is pretty intense.

Great camping spot with private sites set amid huge trees. Meticulously maintained. Clean bathrooms with one shower each (50 cent token for 3 minutes of warm shower). We’ll maintained trails.

This park is magical! I grew up visiting and still go often. It is the last place in Kitsap where there is a grove of Old Growth trees. Beautiful beach with a dock and a boat launch too!!

Great little spot to park your boat while checking out the area. The whole parks a nice little roundabout. Wouldnt want to hike up that hill though 😵

Its a very pretty park, the forest itself seems a little small in the grand scheme of things, but the beach and port moves it from good to really good. The water is really clear.

Its spectacular.. not many people at all. Go at low tide with the kids and see sand dollars, shells, anemones, jellyfish, and crabs and crabs! Just so great. AND dog friendly too.

Quiet, peaceful and not crowded. Very clean all over the park and well maintained.

A very special place. Treat it better than your mother. If you litter here, Ill find you. Ill make a meme of you and you will live forever on the internet as the face of trash.

Illahee State Park is a very well maintained place... There are many trails to hike and some decent elevation changes to boot. Come to camp, come to fish, come to launch a boat, ccome to walk the heavily wooded trails... Heck, reserve one of the large roofed spots for a large family BBQ.

This was a great park boat launch camping etc.. hiking trails are great. Be prepared for steep hills lots of climbing. Stairs are built in most places. Took myself and 4 kids we had a blast. Playground has only a slide but was still fun for the littlest kiddo. Plenty of places to picnic and the cannons and Information center are great as well. Learned and had a good time exercising.

Beautiful... If you feel the need to get out of town but you dont want to go too far... This is it.... You can stay in the forest to cool off or you can take drive down to the water... There is places to Bbq, clean bathrooms, outside shower to rinse off, and information boards. You also do need a discovery pass. Im telling you its the best investment you can have because theres so much parks that need them... I highly recommend a DISCOVERY PASS...

Absolutely beautiful place to hang out I really wish the campgrounds are open! When they do cant wait to go!

A nice long Beach and some beautiful little trails to explore. Lots of parking too.

It’s an alright park. Needs to be updated. There are a few short trials that just loop around the center of the park. Playground needs new equipment. If you plan on going to the beach, don’t go at high tide, lol it won’t be there! Other than that, it’s not a bad place. Didn’t get to check out the camping situation, but it looked pretty tightly packed with not a lot of room between campsites. Good place for a picnic or short walk though

I was in Seattle for business and I found Illahee State Park through google maps. This place is gorgeous. It has some camping and hiking options but I didnt have time to check them out. I drove through and stopped at the lake and got to hang out for a bit. It was so peaceful.
