Illahee Preserve - Nature reserve in Bremerton, United States
Great nature park with trails that wind around the park. Bike friendly and lazy walking friendly.
I love it here so much people r kind and its naturally design is amazing
Gorgeous easy trail area
Illahee Preserve is a great place to workout or cool off. Overall the trails require low effort and are cleared back well so there is little foliage to step over. The trails cover a large space and have multiple places to loop back, so your visit can be as short or as long as you need.
Nice set of trails for walking, hiking and bicycling
This was a.cool little spot. It gives a beautiful forest feeling. My son and I had a nice morning hike ❤️.
Weve been here 4 times and still havent explored everywhere.
Love the trails and scenery and just calm of nature itself. Its a nice preserve and Im thankful its around to explore.
Love taking the kids here to trail and teach them about wildlife and plants in the PNW. When they were really little we would hunt dragons ☺️ and its been a family fav since. Close to home so theres no long drive. Clear areas for a water/food break. Animal friendly and restrooms. Close to the park and waterfront with a dock.
Beautiful clean trails. Small critters abound.
Best place to go a stroll! The trees and ambiance never disappoint. Further in its quiet and peaceful but initially the road can be heard still which is a little bit of a distraction but goes away pretty quickly.
Great place for hiking, jogging or taking the dog out for a walk. Lots of different trails to choose from. Parking lot has plenty of space.
Have used these trails for years and years. Love the area!
Its beautiful here! Lots of people and dogs tho!
Love it! Wooded, cushiony woodchipped trails. You can go on a rainy day and not get wet. The trail branches off a lot so there are lots of ways to wander. Great running trail. I had no issues taking the baby in the jogging stroller. Make sure you have a map or your phone
Wonderful hike to Dickerson waterfall
Nice marked tralis. Lots of dog walkers. Quite a few that let the off their leashes so if your scared of dogs beware.lol
Very nice, good place for a little nature walk or hike.Im not a huge fan though because of personal issues I have with those trails.
Have live here almost 7 yrs. Very peaceful
Very well maintained trail system. Plenty of parking in a lot, rather than having to park along a side street. At the trail head there are picnic tables. The area is a covered shelter for rainy days. It is important to note that there is not a restroom or honey buckets here. Make sure youve taken care of that need before coming out to the preserve. The trail floor is laid out with plenty of bark, making the ground soft and helps to deter from mud puddles. There are many interconnected loops so you can decide how long youd like to walk. In addition, trail markers are in red and posted at Y and T sections. You can enjoy gentle uphill slopes and meandering through the old growth trees. This nature preserve is quite a gem. It wasnt crowded on a Saturday mid morning. I spent 2 hours, did a larger loop for a 3 mile walk.
Wonderful walk among the old growth forest. Great for my dog. She can run and sniff all the new smells she finds. Easy to choose long or short walk. Always maintained with utmost value placed to the natural surroundings.
Great walking trails!
My Dog TOMO loves it here.
So many improvements in the last few years. New parking area, markers on the trails and a lot of trail maintenance. It is a lovely hiking area for people to explore the different habitats around these old forests.
This is a great place to hike, jog, take your fur babies on a walk, preferably on leash since it is the law. Beautiful place.
I love coming here. The trails are well maintained, its quite, and beautiful! HOWEVER the amount of people who let there dogs off leash here is truly insane. Today while out with my puppy I ran into three separate groups with more than one off leash dogs. I have a hound puppy.. she doesnt have great manners. One of the dogs we encountered literally tried to attack her (thankfully after he was put on a leash and no contact was made). Dont come here if you dont want to be approached by roaming dogs. Sucks.
What a cool place to have the opportunity to explore and appreciate in Kitsap County. There are quite a lengthy network of trails that are well maintained. If youre lucky, you may get the chance to spot some owls. I was there near dusk in a dark area of the woods and I was greeted by three of them. So cool!
Unbelievable hiking area, it feels like youre in another world. Very quiet, almost eerily quiet, secluded, and peaceful area for a hike or trail run. Theres miles of clearly marked trails and dozens of easily identifiable rescue location markers in case of injury or if youre lost.
It is a amazing quite walking path. Nicely maintained paths. Easy to read map. Such a surprising bit of nature close to everything.
Unique trails. Easy and fun to walk/hike.
Many different options for trails, definitely going back.
Well maintained trail with new paths within the past year there seems to be no area with uneven ground. Fresh mulch is laid down throughout the year giving the trail a nice soft path. Every person I have encountered on the trail is pleasent. Just watch out for the cyclists they have all been respectful so far but there have been a few. The trail seems easy for small children or a jogging stroller if you have one. Overall the many different trails give options to come back multiple times to enjoy an easy stroll in the woods near the city.
We were looking for oyster mushrooms, but found Shaggy Parasols instead. Headed home for the best mushroom gravy ever!
Its a nice place for a walk or light hike. The trails are a little mashed together and they end abruptly. I think when they started the park they had less land so they pushed as many trails into a single space as they could fit. All in all a really nice park and a great spot for bremerton.
This preserve is wonderful! The trails are well kept and are mulched, which keeps them from getting too muddy in all the rain. TONS of trails and beautiful moss-covered trees. I love bringing my doggos here here a good little hike!
It was my first time walking this Preserve. Its very lovely I like the fact that the trail has wood chips on it so it makes it very comfortable to walk. I would recommend to have a map because its very easy to get lost and I was with a group who traveled this Trail quite a bit. You can bring pets it is very marked
Want for a walk with my dog, pretty standard, ran into two people walking their dogs off leash. One of the two charged at my dog. It was not a nice walk. Otherwise the park is pretty and the trails are nice... Just watch out for bad pet owners who dont care about anything but their convenience.
We loved walking this trail! As a newbie, I recommend grabbing a map! The trail is long and winding and veers in different directions! Its amazing beauty would be nothing to get lost in. The trails are kept well cleaned, there are lots of places to stop and admire the landscape or just take a breath. I cant wait to come back! We took our dog, unfortunately not everyone listens to leash laws. The trail wasnt too busy and we were able to enjoy the solitude of the forest.
Clean, nice place and easy to navigate with the maps. Nice place to go walk
Great trail system. Trails are groomed, marked, well shaded and maps are provided. Great hikes for kids. There is a nice covered pavilion for picnicking as well. Did not see any drinking fountains so bring your own water.
As a preserve it is pretty great. You got just a nice slice of forest in an otherwise urban developed area. Its nice to visit a spot that is able to get oneself secluded from the bustle of city life. Located in a nice little corner, it is also easy to get lost on the many trails that have been carved into the forest. I would recommend taking a picture of the trail map before diving in and thus navigating using the numbered markers found all within; or you can take the fun route with an hour or two and get lost. That being said, its so small that getting lost may be anxiety inducing easy but practically difficult and you will pop out one of the many egress points, that is if you miraculously avoid encountering anyone else who is walking a dog or enjoying a nice stroll. The past are nicely defined over the many thousands of people over the years walking the paths and they are kindly enough to have mulch added to them, making a nice soft padding for trail joggers. With picnic areas setup around the egress/ingress points it could be a nice place for a lite picnic date and stroll or a family bonding with a bit of food. Its not a park, as there are little areas to lounge and relax and the trails are for traffic only. And golly dies it smell great.
This is a great place for casual walks to short hikes. It has small wildlife, mostly birds and bugs, that kids love, and if into flora and fauna, can become a small lesson in names or how ants build homes. (Or how caterpillars turn into butterflies, or....Since it is a forest, if walking in a light rain you dont get drenched, or its a cool spot on a hot day. If youre a newbie, there are trail maps at the main parking lot.
Easy well maintained trails. Good for families and dog walking
Great place for a short walk. Using far outer loop, roughly 3 miles. Take a map and use the numbered trail markers or you could get lost for a decent amount of time.
Went for a walk here with my good friend and his old dog. This is a great trail network for a morning or evening walk in the woods. Very well maintained trails.
Great trail... Only input is if bringing dogs the trail is covered in wood chips and my little dog ended up needing packed a bit because of the slivers.
Plenty of parking. Theres a very nice and clean pavilion with four picnic tables at the trailhead. Surprisingly, nobody was using it on a Sunday afternoon so we had a snack break after walking the trails. The trails are wide enough and clear enough to bring my two-year-old and four-year-old without fear of them getting separated from us. I also had them in a wagon and it was fairly easy to pull even though the trail is covered in wood chips. An all-terrain baby stroller would work great but definitely not a regular one. There werent as many people on the trail as i had anticipated would be on a weekend, but then again it was mid 80 degrees.
Lovely trek through nice trails. Love the markers so one does not get lost.
Nice big park. Its pretty easy to get somewhat lost but no big deal. Lots of doggos.
Great place to go walking or for a short run with your best friend. The bad thing is they put wood chips on all the trails can make it very difficult to walk or run on them, and impossible to ride a bike. I used to like to go here after work for a quick couple loops on my bike but I can no longer do that.
