Some of the best authentic Italian cuisine you can find in Dublin! The Pappardelle and Filet entree were delicious. Staff is very friendly and knowledgable on both food and wine. A great spot to share several dishes with a date or group!

What I liked -Excellent food, easy no nonsense booking, quick service. What I disliked - the sommelier flexing his ego.I remarked in a positive way about the wine aerator. Oh if you use the aerator then you may not need to use a decanter. I was given a dirty look then told in a very curt way that decanting is to remove sediment, aerating is to improve the flavour....As I was with four family members, I declined to point out that It would be difficult to decant a wine without aerating it. With a thirty year career in high end restaurants and international hotels, I could have pointed out that 99 out of 100 bottles of wine that are decanted, are decanted for the purpose of aeration, not for removing sediment older reds, higher tannin reds and some fortified wines that have sediment are decanted so that they can be strained. Why do some sommeliers and chefs, car mechanics, butchers, plumbers, electricians and other trades people assume that their customers know nothing about what it is they are paying for? What does it benefit them to attempt to slight or ridicule their customer in front of their family? Was the Euro 65 that I spent on a barolo on this special family occasion not enough to quell the sommeliers fanning of his own self importance?

This was some of the most amazing food I have had in years. We tried to grab a table earlier in the night but they were booked. The manager however told us come back in a bit and we promise to have a table for you. It was without question worth the wait. The wine selection was amazing, pasta perfectly made and seabass had a perfectly crisp skin while falling apart. I would come back to Dublin only to eat here.

Not being a fan of Italian cuisine, this place made me fall in love with Italian cuisine for the first time. Great selection of wines. We ordered calamari as a starter and that’s the most perfect way to make this dish, the explosion of flavours in marvellous. Try tortitelli and you will be transformed into a completely different world of taste, fantastic. If you still have space in your belly for desert I strongly recommend their panacotta. If I could give you an advice - book before coming, place is cozy and not that big, reservations are booking in fast

We stumbled across this intimate Italian restaurant on Crow Street in the midst of Temple Bar. Despite arriving ten minutes before closing time without a reservation, the lovely team welcomed our family of four in to their cozy nook. The wine menu exceptional, the locally sourced ingredients and quality of the food was delicious. Between bites we hardly spoke a word except to express how delicious everything was and nod in agreement. The tomatoes on the bruschetta elevated bread and tomatoes to a new height. The handmade ravioli was exceptional. My ragu was amazing. The portions appeared small but the food was so rich they were perfect especially for other pairings. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive. We were the last diners at the end of a busy day and never felt rushed, they even offered us dessert which we politely declined only because we were so full from our delicious meal. Ive traveled the world including parts of Italy and Il Vicolettos kitchen served the best Italian food I have ever eaten. Not just a meal, eating at Il Vicoletto was an experience that we only wish we lived closer to to be able to enjoy on a weekly basis. Thank you Il Vicoletto, we miss you.

At the recommendation of the concierge at the Westin Hotel, I was able to stumble on this gem of a restaurant. The service was incredible, wide ranging wine selection and the food was off the charts. Staff was very accommodating, welcoming and made sure to check in regularly to ensure everything was perfect. The touGh part was narrowing down what to order as everything looked excellent! Highly recommend this off the beaten path gem. It’s a very small restaurant, reservations are recommended.

One of the best Italian places in Dublin. Amazing food and wine. I had the Calamari suggested by staff which was potential the best calamari I ever had in life, made perfect with light touches of honey. Also the pasta we had was simply amazing. And their deserts are top. The whole place gives you very authentic and tasty Italian food - which is rare to find especially compared to the surrounding area of Temple bar which is mostly commercial fast food. The restaurant is fairly small and the menu is focused but great. Dont expect large scale and pizzas, this is cozy dining at its best. Make sure to reserve when you go, as capacity is fairly low, it might be difficult to get a walk-in table.

Excellent authentic Italian food.It is a tiny little place hurting with flavor. Be sure to call ahead and make a reservation. The octopus starter was amazing as was the simple green salad. We tried 3 different pasta dishes and loved them all. Pasta ragú, fruiti di mare, and pasta with sea bass were all delicious and well received. We were deciding between 2 wines and they brought over a taste of each wine, very impressive! If you are craving authentic Italian food in Dublin be sure to check this place out, you will not be disappointed!

I was very much looking forward to eating here having heard so much about it. We had booked for dinner for a party of 11 on Saturday evening. I have a 3 month old daughter who I would naturally have to bring with me as she is breast fed. I assumed that this restaurant would follow Italian traditions, not least, that food and family are intimately related and all family is welcome. They told me that the baby could not come in as it wasn’t safe, even though she would be sitting on my lap the whole the time (I appreciate there is no room for a buggy). I could have been positioned away from the high foot-fall areas, against a wall. What is unsafe about that? If she had started crying and disturbing other diners I would naturally have taken her outside. What could have been unsafe? Unless they planned to throw the plate at the diner and try to fill the wine glass with a jet hose. I had to have dinner elsewhere while the rest of the party dined at Il Vicoletto. We would have moved the whole party but getting space for 11 people on a Saturday night would have been impossible. I wish I could be writing a review about what an amazing night we had. Sadly, I never got to experience it - and the reason we chose an Italian restaurant is because we have already experienced the hospitality and welcoming of the whole family when travelling through Italy. This baby, for the record, is very well behaved and at that time of night would have slept happily on my lap. I had checked their website prior to booking and there was no mention that children would not be allowed. I am just very disappointed.

Gorgeous restaurant! Couldn’t recommend it enough. The staff were extremely polite and kind, their service was exceptional. They were quite busy on the Thursday night we went (two big partiesand they still managed to accommodate us on both a short notice and without a booking. The food is simply gorgeous, you cannot go wrong here. If you’re going to order a starter, let it be the calamari which is so soft and crispy at the same time with an amazing sauce. For mains we had the risotto and the lobster tagliatelle and both dishes can’t be recommended enough. The risotto is spicy and perfectly seasoned with a melted Burrata in the middle and sprinkled with soft shrimp and the lobster tagliatelle is subject to availability so it’s a must have if they have it. The past is homemade and soft and the lobster is meaty and melts in your mouth. They also have a huge wine selection which we unfortunately didn’t try as weren’t in the mood to drink. But it’s a perfect date night spot (a bit pricey maybe but you get quality and service for that priceso definitely make time for this

I’m afraid to give away secrets of great restaurants…but this might be one of the best authentic Italian restaurants in the city. After spending nearly a month visiting many different parts of Italy, this place definitely felt like home in Italy. Many secret homemade recipes are used for the starters and main dishes, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable to give you the best experience. Plan 3 hours for dinner and you will not be disappointed

One of the best meals we had in Ireland. The eggplant parm melted in your mouth, the calamari was fresh and very tasty! We all enjoyed our various pasta entrees, all a beautiful culinary experience. And the chocolate molten cake was the perfect way to end the dinner!

Initially, we were close to walking out, 15 minutes after being seated, we had not even been offered water! Luckily, we stayed and we were glad we did! The food was lovely and atmosphere was great, the only other element was the closeness of the seating, you are right on top of one another. But, really nice and would go back.

Came here with my girlfriend for the first time last week, hearing good reviews and wanting to try it for ourselves.Well, it didnt disappoint. Our waiter had a great attitude (Im sorry I forget his name but the young guy, black hairand made us feel very welcome as soon as we were seated.Absolutely gorgeous atmosphere. Quaint spot you would almost miss if walking past. Everything from the bread to the tiramisu special at the end were like butter and all melted in your mouth. Both desert specials were "the best Ive ever had" from both myself and my girlfriend. I had the tiramisu and she had the 3 chocolate special. Please put both on the menu!Cannot rate it highly enough, will absolutely be back.

Went here last minute without a booking, just a week before Christmas. We were glad we found it. I had bruschetta to start and my wife had Calamari with a sweet and sour sauce. Both delicious. My main course was fillet steak which was served simply, with potatoes and vegetables. I have to say this ranks up with the best steak I have ever had. My wife also had steak and she said the same. The wine was excellent too with the attentive staff pouring it for us whenever needed. The wine was dear at €39 but the steak very reasonable at €27.50. All in all, great place, great staff, great food, great experience.

Okay, so no B.S. here. I cant say for certain, but Id say it would be hard pressed to find a better Italian restaurant in Ireland. Granted, I dont know Ireland well. But, I know Italy very well. And, this place rates better than most places I have visited in Italy. Outstanding food, and great wine. Impeccable service. We let Eric pick out the meal and it was first class. Outstanding. Definitely recommend.

Amazing food, very reasonably priced. Highly recommended. Will definitely return here. Their food is up to the highest standards. And service as well. A lot of vegetarian options. Just love the place.Update (2 years after the first review). I visited Dublin again and booked a return flight late in the evening that to dine in this place. I wondered if the quality of food and impression stayed the same. Absolutely, yes. Just a pleasure to see when people love what they are doing and they do their job exceptionally well.

So, I learned my lesson in the busy area of town with a night life that just keeps going. If it’s late and you’re in the Temple Bar District, MAKE reservations. Luckily, I did around 8PM on a Sunday night, and we managed to get in by 9:15.It’s a small place that gets packed and you really have to squeeze in there to get good and comfortable. Since the place is so small, and crowded, it can get very loud inside. Add to these two factors, and the Italian accents are very heavy on some of the servers and they talk very quickly when trying to explain the menu specials.Nonetheless, they were very patient with us and explained the items multiple times until we could finally hear them and understand what they were saying. So here’s what we ended up with:Ravioli special (€19.50). The ravioli were stuffed with filet mignon, served in a chianti sauce, and topped with generous chunks of prosciutto. It was benissimo! I was told this dish changes often since it’s a chef homemade special, so check with your waiter.Pappardelle Ragu (€16.50with ham spirals and a pink creamy bolognese sauce served over linguine noodles.TONS of wine selections abound, and they have a few beer options available as well. Please don’t let me scare you away with my description of the place being crowded and loud. You WILL want to check this place out. The food was top notch, and so was the service. And it’s a good change of pace from the few Irish traditional dishes that are available around town.
