Italian food and coffee in a relaxed space with art deco stylings and wall-to-wall wine racks.
3.5 starThe food is just about ok , well above avg. The fish is a score-, sauce should not be broth.
This deserves more than 5 stars, this honestly puts into question every other 5 star review Ive ever given. Negate those and count them as 4.5 stars at best because they are not worth to compare against this phenomenal restaurant. I was privileged to be part of a multi course meal as part of a wedding reception. The food is out of this world, it exposes a horrendous travesty that when people think Italian cuisine, they only think pizza, but pizza has nothing on the cuisine, culture, drinks, and service that this fine establishment offers. The worst part of eating here is that I will return to a life where every other dining experience I have will never ever meet the same standard Ive experienced today.
Finally I made it to il lido! Service was blunt and staff seemed stiff on a quiet night. Good flavours, small sized. Had digestive issues for 2 days. Spenny
Great Italian restaurant on the beach. Excellent drink selection, especially if you dont want to drink, there is a great selection of mocktails. The food is amazing, will be back for more.
Unfortunately we didnt have time to stay for lunch but we will plan another visit. Very chic & funky this bar/ restaurant & views of the ocean are spectacular!
Cant fault the meals. This place is awesome. A huge selection of wines and a nice setting. They also sell great coffee in the mornings
So disappointed in the service! We weren’t attended to whilst waiting to be seated and when we finally got a man’s attention (possibly the manager?he didn’t say one word or make eye contact, very awkward interaction for us! Our entrees were a bit slow to come but were happy to wait for our mains. Since arriving at 2:30, by 4:10 our mains still hadn’t arrived! We ended up having to leave without eating because it just got ridiculous and their excuse was that they put our order on hold so that the entrees and mains didn’t come out at the same time. I think they just forgot about us! Was also impossible to get anyones attention and had a couple drinks not put through.
Popped in for a mid arvo coffee.Coffee good, food good, service was good to begin with. Went to the bar to reorder, female sever behind the bar was crouched on the floor drinking, we got ignored. Tried to stop one of the male severs he seem to be in a rush and spoke to us while he kept walking. The funny thing was there was only a couple of customers but quite a few staff on duty ????
Not what it used be. Has significantly declined in quality and standard. I sent my omelette back didn’t even really touch it ;still paid for it. Coffee was cold. It was busy so perhaps that was the issue.
Extensive wine list plus a bonus Sommelier. Authentic style Italian augmented with attentive service. Top up your cc as price reflects the above accoutrements.Nice place for an occasion!
Although we sat at the bar (without bookingwe loved the food at this Italian restaurant. The bread as a starter is a great choice, it could be warm, but still great. We shared a tasty octopus that I highly recommend. As main we ordered gnocchi and paccheri very delicious and well presented. To finish a homemade tiramisu which was fantastic 😋
My very first time here and will certainly be back to try a meal.. unfortunately the day I went was extremely busy and there wasnt much choice of snacks, was more larger lunch/ dinner type choices which I wasnt looking for myself. I was there for a coffee and maybe small bite to eat.(Obviously not their fault so this will not effect my review score).Coffee was great, service was fantastic.I took a seat outside and did some people watching and admired the view of the Indian Ocean in the background.I will definitely be back sometime soon to check out the meals.5 star review from me today
Have only word for this place it’sOUTSTANDING. The food was so delicious and so the staff whole recommended us for that .
Very poor customer service, the manager accused us of lying when the staff member told us to take a seat. The manager then was very abrupt when talking to us. We also had problems in getting the staffs attention for service. When we where given the wrong order and told the staff, instead of fixing it we didnt see him for the rest of the night.
We are visiting from Adelaide and enjoyed our coffee and breakfast but most of all the excellent service from the young waitress working outside. From the second we saw her she was smiling and friendly which seems to be uncommon for this area. Can’t praise her enough :)
If you are looking to- wait at the counter to be seated while there are easily 5 crew grazing the floor, not serving customers but no interest in serving you until one nice enough soul do- have some cold bread instead of the regular warm that any Italian restaurant will pride themselves to serve- pay at the counter while a plump sized woman chats on with another casually in no hurry to end the conversation while you wait, told off, “I’ll be with you in a minute” sneering. So have yourself a great time indulging in stuck up servers and cashiers that you don’t get to in other countries and restaurants. Enjoy!
Food was lovely, however very small portions for the price. We ordered entrees x 3 and clam pasta but clams were tiny. Service was excellent upon arrival but really dropped off after the initial drinks order of $22 per glass of sparkling. A great night still but would have expected more for the precedence set when we walked in. More than happy to pay for top quality food and wine but where this restaurant was pitched did not match what was delivered, particularly for food and value.
Soooo damnnn delicious! The seafoody dishes were unreal! The pasta was very Al dente. Im not the biggest fan of al dente but thats more a me thing. The fremantle octopus was a whole new level of yum. Tuna tartare was 👌👌
Bitterly disappointing. Great food but neglectful on the service. First time I came here I had a few entrees, a wine and a main and then sat for 38minutes with dirty dishes in front of me and no one asking if I wanted anything else or the usual “how was everything”. I ended up having to go inside and just paid and left and went down the road to get a nice coffee to finish.Thought I would give the benefit of the doubt and popped in today (as I said the food is goodand terrible service again. Sitting outside for 15minutes without even being asked if I wanted to start with a drink while I decide. Once again went inside and asked if anyone was going to come outside for any service at all and there was multiple staff just chatting inside. The place is very quiet with very few patrons and it makes it extremely disappointing that you have to chase up service after unreasonable wait times.Hate being one to whinge (once again great foodbut to be forgotten about outside and seeing other patrons going inside too to get service at a table service restaurant just isn’t right. Once again - the food is lovely though.
Absolute 5.0 - Great food, great service, great ambiance! We went for dinner for two on a Wednesday and the place is bustling. Ordered the charred octopus, venison tagliatelle, tiramisu and cappucino. Tagliatelle was perfect: love the sauce and the pasta was cooked perfectly (not too soft, not too hard). Octopus was a little on the harder side, but still very delicious. The tiramisu is to die for, especially with the tiny chocolate pieces inside it! The staff were really friendly and parking is very convinient. We skipped the wine this time, but will give them a go next time. Definitely will be back again (and again).
I’m vegetarian, the eggplant parmigiana was perfection. The service was so professional and friendly. Great double espresso. I felt spoilt.
Awesome coffee, incredible beach side location and this terrazzo countertop is well worth the visit in my option. Love love love. 🫡👍❤️❤️❤️
My Husband and I visited for cocktails and a few small bites to eat for our first wedding anniversary as we celebrated here on our wedding day. Lovely staff and fast service. Delicious cocktails. We always order the bread and we love it, tried the pickled octopus as well this time and it was so tasty.
Il Lido has the ambience & noise of a shopping centre dining hall along with the long dining bench tables of an institution. The dining rooms loud music was eventually overridden by the increasing gabble of voices; it was cold & draughty until the lunchtime crowd filled the long benches; no privacy, no booths, no peace, & no dessert - unless you exit the dining hall section into the (still draughtysouth corners to sit at high seats & tables - where cake & coffees are served to the tables in takeaway containers. However back in the dining hall the pork balls with basil ($18served in a glazed stoneware bowl were small but succulent, the pinot grigio ($14was adequate. Service was friendly. In the takeaway section, the carrot cake ($5was tasty but the get-it-yourself wooden dessert forks were rough to the mouth, the coffee ($4in cardboard cup ($1was okay. The whole experience made me wish Id waited until summer & couldve had everything -the pork dish, the coffee & cake- as a takeaway & sat in peace at a bench on the lawns of Cottesloe Beach.Important point for wheelchair users & otherwise compromised: there are narrow stairs up to Il Lido bathrooms. According to a staff member I questioned, Il Lido is a heritage listed building and the owner is not allowed to modify [even though the dining section has been modified??] & the nearest disabled toilet access is across the road at the public toilets.
The girl who hunted for and retrieved the missing muffin was reason enough to return. We only had coffee and cake this morning but the food looked great. Unfortunately our coffees were only luke warm which is always a sign of the barista being too busy to make sure everything was right. Great staff though.
We went here for a family breakfast to celebrate a birthday. It was very busy, creating an energetic vibe and a nice atmosphere. There was a selection of breakfast options on the menu and the food was good. The only disappointing thing is that its not particularly child friendly. They dont have highchairs, so our 16 month old grandson had to stay in his pram, making it more difficult for his parents.
Very friendly and attentive service. The menu is quite extensive, the wine list is huge. The food is good. Atmosphere is vibrant and worth coming back for.
A lovely little spot. We stopped by after a long day on the beach for a quick coffee & bite to eat. So many great options on the menu & the food was delicious. We sat outdoors & had a lovely view of the sunset. The staff were super friendly & attentive too. Can’t wait to come back already!
Food was cooked well, if not a bit bland. For a supposedly fine dining Italian restaurant the pasta was not fresh. The portions were.decent size. Servers were friendly and somewhat knowledgeable but dont bother asking them about the drinks menu (which is extensive if you like Winebecause they dont know about any of them and dont help recommending anything. Making a reservation weeks earlier and getting placed at a high table isnt the best dining experience. Wouldnt recommend if you have a bad back as chairs are very uncomfortable.
Amazing experience here. Went here for my wife’s birthday and loved it. Food was phenomenal! The burrata was divine. The server for our table was extremely pleasant and charming. Only knock is they gave us a birthday dessert we assumed was complimented from the restaurant after we declined dessert. It tasted good but later noticed on the bill that they charged us for what they delivered as a gift. That was odd.
First time took my partner here for dinner. The overall experience was a little disappointing. Although the waitress was really lovely, the wait time between appetizer and mains was more than 45mins. We had to order a loaf to in between just becoz we were too hungry. I also ordered my second drink during the wait for mains but it didn’t came until we finished everything and were about to leave. The food was cooked and presented well but in a very small portion. So after we had three appetizer two mains and one salad we left the restaurant still feel a little hungry. Won’t be back for dinner but will be back for brunch sometimes.
Nice to finally get here. We have wanted to dine here for some time. Monday lunch and the place is really going off. Popular, definitely. We ordered a couple of pastas which were very impressive. Amazing food coupled with great service. What more could you want? We also went with a wagyu entree which really melted in our mouths. We would highly recommend this place for true provincial Italian cuisine.
Very delicious meals and friendly staff. We had the tagliatelle, eggplant parmigiana and the wagyu 👍🏻
Superb Food and has been voted Australias choice in 2021 at Australias wine list of the year.I got my diner in no time and great service.
the pasta was delicious and fresh with decent portions. The cocktail was okay.
Great service, friendly and helpful. Large wine selection, tasty Italian food. Fantastic ocean views.
Food was delightful, scenery was lovely. The atmosphere was vibrant yet calming at the same time...
One of the better coffee places in Cottesloe! Coffee was great but could have been asked what size as we were served the smallest cup Ive seen for coffee. Food choices for breakfast was good too. We had the bruschetta and their cinnamon doughnut. The ambience was good. Surrounded by walls of wines planked with rows of long tables. One would not feel cramped.Best of all its just across Cottesloe Beach!
Its been four years since our Las visit and its still as good as back then. Which is not as easy to do as it might seem. The service was so friendly and it felt like they had time to have a chat and genuinely be helpful. Well worth the money. Book a few days in advance if your a group of more than 4 and its the weekend.Wonderful pastas with such exiting and innovative ingredients . Great Italian wine selection and very friendly service ... I see why it’s one of the best rated Italian restaurants in Perth .
Fantastic food and a phenomenal wine list to match! I love the long table dining they offer and the atmosphere is so enjoyable. Service wasn’t amazing hence the loss of a star. I’ll definitely be back to try some more of the menu!
Booked a table but was a bit thrown off that first we waited at the bar, unnoticed only to be told to go to the restaurant pedastal and waiting for longer to be noticed. Once noticed it was much better. Had the salumi starter followed by the risotto. Food was good though a little on the salty side. Staff were happy to engage and extremely friendly once seated in the Canteen style seating arrangement. Would go again.
Absolutely fabulous. Went twice for lunch and definitely will return for more meals. Excellent service from the staff. Food were well presented and yummy.
Arrived at this place by accident. We were looking to eat pizza but we are glad we stayed.Waitress was very polite and friendly. Greeted upon arrival. Canteen style seating.Asked the waitress for recommendation and we were not disappointed.Fremantle octopus entree was very nice. Octopus was tenderWe had pork polpette. They were very soft and juicy and tasty. Best balls Ive had !!Mains , we were recommended parpadelle with beef cheeks. And linguini with clams. Both dishes were made with care and love and tasted great.Wife also had a cocktail : cyclone. She enjoyed it and if was flavorful.Unfortunately we didnt try any desserts as we were quite full after those dishes.Very nice place and decor. Caring and attentive staff.
Wonderful. We loved the busy vibe. Host was awesome and authentic Italian buzz. Really really well priced. Impressive. We will be back....maybe for dinner?
Warm and welcoming place with great food and drinks options. Waiters were very friendly and personable. The pavlova is to die for!
We sat in the outdoor dining area facing the sea, very relaxed and beautiful. The service is good and friendly, and the meals including cocktails are delicious. The price is a bit high, but it is worth it with a whole sea view. By the way, dont forget to ask about their daily specials!
A very busy cafe with great food options across the street from the beach. Good service but can be very busy at times.
So far this has been my favorite restaurant in Perth. The food was phenomenal and there is a good selection of Italian wine! Service was top! I arrived at almost 3pm starving and I was pleasantly surprised that the kitchen was still open and ready to serve😍
Uncomfortable high chairs vs Communal seating, Rust in water jug, Lacklustre service (blonde waitress needs to learn how to smile), Dirty spoons (and when we requested for a change, the replacement also had marks on it), Very loud setting. We asked for menu recommendations, to which the server recommended Arancini and Gnocchi. We ordered both, however found the Arancini bland and had a strange orange taste that didnt blend with the dish. We enjoyed the Gnocchi, although it would have been better with some grilled chicken as the flavour eventually felt a tad repetitive. We also ordered tempura fish which was flavourful.Overall, we found the food very overpriced and average-tasting, and the service should certainly be improved for a "high-class" restaurant.
Well worth the wait on the busiest day of the year! It was packed when we arrived and they were switching from breakfast service to lunch service. The ravioli with the saffron butter, pistachios and cacao was out of this world. Coffee was ok but not consistent. Was very attentive and friendly service. Great place for family and groups. The market fish carpaccio was very tasty too.
