Excellent food, friendly service (and quick, unlike in many other places here), lovely atmosphere dining right by the water and boats in the guest harbor.The best restaurant weve tried so far in the Three Cities. Already booked for tomorrow evening again!

Had the seafood platter for two last night and it was stunning. I have eaten at most of the restaurants along this harbour and this one is miles better than any other.We turned up without a reservation and Dean was very helpful and found us a table. He explained how all of the individual fish were prepared and cooked, and that showed in the taste of everything.It was the best meal that I have eaten during my extensive travels around the Mediterranean. I have made another reservation for Saturday evening.

My partner and I went twice to this beautiful restaurant by the water! We agree that it was our favourite dining experience from our 3 week Europe adventure!We were lucky enough to have Juyce (apologies for incorrect spelling!!serving us both times - and was part of the reasons we went back! The second time we had Dean, the chef helping us too. They were both fantastic and did not lead us astray with ordering. Both meals were outstanding - slow cooked pork cheeks were ordered twice.Thankyou Il Hnejja for your amazing staff and food.From the Australians xx

The food is good, excellent location. Great attention by good local staff, we even had the chef come out at the end of the evening to see if all was OK. Thats quite unique. Highly recommend this place.

Love this restaurant. We ordered the seafood platter, squid ink rice, sea urchin spaghetti. Would have ordered the lobster but they sold out.

The seafood was superb🍻we didnt get the chance to order the lobster pasta because it was sold out. But the sea urchin pasta was soooooo good! They were very busy therefore youd waited for a while to get served. The chef was very friendly❤️

Probably the friendliest and most attentive service we received while in Malta. Good food (including plenty of fresh fishserved with a view of the beautiful and serene harbour with further views of Valletta.

Food was ok, but I believe overpriced for what it was. The main person who served us was surly and inefficient, we had to call him back 3 times to get everyones initial drinks order. Others servers were more friendly

Il-Hnejja has been a favourite of mine for a few years now. Every time Ive visited, I have always been greeted by the welcoming staff and treated to incredible food that reminds me why I visit this gem of a restaurant time and time again.

One of my favourite restaurants in the South of Malta.Food is always amazing and the service is impeccable.The only thing is that the menu is always the same and sometimes its good to have a variety. However the menu is vast enough to alternate between the specialities.Highly recommend.

We had a very cozy and tasty Saturday night dinner (6 persons). Very friendly Service and the most important they have GLUTENFREE pasta. For somebody with celiac desease is sometimes difficult to find good food. 👍 We ll come back for sure. PS. Also a nice area to have a walk 🚶‍♂️. Nice view

Located right by the sea, the food at il-Hnejja is of top quality every time I visit... which isnt enough!The service is always very welcoming, polite and warm.I fully recommend as my go-to restaurant at the 3 cities of Malta.

We had a great lunch here on the outdoor waterfront seats with a great view of Birgu and lots of boats. Service was very good.

Went to eat for christmas lunch. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, couldnt do enough to help and made the experience that much nicer.. food was nothing short of delicious and well priced! A must visit in future especially when the weather is nice as it is beautifully situated by the sea. Also had some special visitors 🦆🦆

Absolutely outstanding and wonderful place, that has grounded kitchen, friendly staff and beautiful views … only have pictures from the desert but rest assured the main course (try the whole fish obviously or the lobster pappardelleare delicious!!!!!!!

Really peaceful atmosphere and very nice food prepared by Joyce. The fish was freshly baked and Joyce prepared the cutlets for us by our table. She was so friendly and the fish was really tasty, as well as the chips and garlic bread. I would love to visit this place again sometime! Thank you Joyce!

Truly the best restaurant Ive experience in 12 years that Ive visited Malta. Great to watch the world go by, 3 of us are for 3hrs, watching the world go by, the host was very professional, her team were perfect. Credit to the chef, his cooking is perfect, everything fresh....take your time here, perfect pace, relax and take your time.Ravioli with tomatoes,garlic oil & cream was best Ive ever eaten, EVERYTHING was 5 star quality.Thank you to all. Drinks menu, wines are excellent, dont expect craft beers though, not a beer place.

Very much recommended. Lovely fresh fish.We had a great evening meal here, starters, mains, bottle of wine, coffee & limoncellos for just under €70.Great view of harbour.My wife particularly recommends the scallop starter.

Really nice place, came here for lunch and had daily specials. Fish is fresh, prices are fair, staff is nice and friendly. Highly recommended.

Nice staff, however, the food was a bit off. The steak was served rare but requested medium rare. I explained this to the waiter but he didnt seem to be concerned..Note that the prawns come served in shell, a bother if you hate de-shelling or peeling, as the person who ordered them does.It did take 45min for the main to arrive, not that I had anything else to do being on holiday but I was very hungry!I personally wouldnt recommend but if there is nowhere else open then, yes, come here.

First time having Maltese food and this place has so many delicious options! Try the Tortelli Lobster and the Pancotti Scollop. The server put these two on a platter for our group to share. The service was fantastic and the setting offers nice views of the water and of the historic architecture all around. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyed the food, the service and the historical environment of the 3 cities and harbour. Even though we ate al fresco and it was too hot. Well definitely go again but this time in the evening coz of the summer heat.

Superb restaurant on the port between Birgu and L-Isla.The personnel is the nicest Ive ever seen in a restaurant.We literally came there twice in a week for this.But most importantly, the food is delicious. Ive never eaten prawns that good and the pastas where also as good.

The food and service were absolutely amazing. The lobster pasta and the scallops and the calamari sepia were to die for. The staff were just right, giving us everything we need in a timely manner!!

Very cozy, local place at an excellent location, practically at the marina. Its serving Maltese food with a good selection of seafood and tasters. We had a great time, found seating without reservation (off season, true), the service was friendly and the food was fresh. Recommended if youre in the neighborhood.

It was simply amazing! We were seated next to the quay with a very lovley View next to the water. The Ambiente was familiar and welcoming. We took some recommondations and we were not disappointed. Outstanding Service, and very, very good, local quality Food. 10/ 10 will do again!

We took the Ferry from Valetta we walked around, we were looking for spaghetti with sea urchin at the end we saw this one but surprisingly no sea urchin even if was on the special menu, my wife settled for octopus stew, the chef recommend instead fried with crumbs, was not in the menu, flavour and overall texture was nice, very soft not rubbery at all, I had the pasta with Maltese sausage, was very nice. Nice place to eat on hot days you can seat outside and look at the seaside. Recommended

My boyfriend had the fresh king prawns - they were amazing! Very fresh and well seasoned. I had the ravioli with burratta. Also really good, definitely home made... so fresh. Friendly service and good food in a great spot, what more can you ask?

This amazing pasta with the local fresh prawns seasoned with the romantic view of the bay is worth it all. I can recommend it warm heartedly. The staff is friendly and professional. The food is fresh and delicious. When in Malta, just give it a try. Thank you for this unforgettable dinner! 😊🤗😘

Perfect place. Great seafood, great desserts, great wine, great view. There was even band jamming rock classics from a garage across the street. Couldn’t have had nicer evening.
