Il Bottegone - Restaurant in Florence, Italy
pop by over tea to have some ice cream and coffee but wasnt granted a seat because we were told that all seats were taken up and guests are only allowed seats should they be having a full meal when its 4pm??? and of course, as you can tell from the picture, the restaurant wasnt even full, disappointing
Another great place. We visited the place twice. Had Salmon, lasagna, pasta. Great wine & great service
We went inside in a very windy and rainy day with a small kid to get some hot drink. All seats were taken in the first floor but there were alot in the second floor. The staff didnt let us go and sit there and we were standing there with a crying baby. So we just left without having second thought. So, not tourist and kid-friendly at all. Not recommended.
Slow service… took 45 for bread. Also we asked for water they gave us a singular cup of water. When the bread finally arrived it was someone else’s order of bruschetta
Reasonably priced for the location. Slow service on busy afternoons. The focaccia sandwiches are an ideal lunchtime stop after the Duomo.
Nice place in good location, we stopped there this afternoon for some cappuccino & tiramisu which was delicious, there is also variety of desserts.
We ordered two glass of wine. Prices were so much expensive compared to other places. Around 7 10 euros for a glass. Also the staff was very rude and it was super slow. We could not pay for a long time. But the location is very good.
Fantastic location right outside the Cathedral and the food is quite decent. The service however is like nothing I’ve experienced. It is terrible. We waited for over an hour after being seated and then I got up to ask to order a drink. I had to also track down a server to order our meal. While it’s a great location, there are many other restaurants in the area. I would not recommend and I will not return.
Nice place. Despite absolute tourist hub, friendly and extremely helpful waitresses patiently explained menu items and then went on to give us a full run down of return-from-holiday shopping schedules. Great fun!
Waited at our table for 25 mins after being seated. No waiter came to take our order or give offer us drinks. Terrible service, go somewhere else.
Had a great expedition there. The food was good and well priced for the location of the restaurant. The portions are good enough for one person. The bread that accompanied the pasta was not that great but is is okay.Staff was helpful and friendly.I recommend this place for anyone wanting to have a good dining experience while having the duomo was your view!
The place and their spoons are not clean properly and the employees are not professional.
We went for gelato on a hot day and had very rude service. Asked to try a flavour and was told that was not allowed. We bought two gelato for 10 euro and sat on the empty patio to rest with our ice cream. Shortly after sitting, a waiter came to us to inform us that we were not allowed to sit down to eat our ice cream. I pointed out the fact that we were paying customers and the patio was empty to which the waiter replied “the gelato price does not include the patio”. Very dissatisfied, you can go to plenty of other cafes who will treat you with kindness and warm hospitality.
Wonderful location right in front of the Duomo. We came for a coffee and snack in the afternoon and again in the evening for wine and dessert. Both times, the lead waiter, Giuseppe, sat us promptly and provided exceptional service. Highly recommended!
Great spot to take in the views of the Duomo and to people watch! Being in such a touristy area of course the prices are mid to higher ranger as is to be expected but nothing outrageous! Quick and friendly staff!
The bar/restaurant is facing the cathedral. It is a very central location. The staff was very friendly and they served us with a smile. The prices was fair for the city center of Florence. The coffee and the croissants tasted great! We went there for a late breakfast and they still served us with croissants!
Very disappointed ordered chicken sandwich and clearly asked for chicken breast and just see the picture what I got and the waiter was arguing this is the chicken breast 🤣
The restaurant is a great place to sit down and eat or drink something. It has a great view of ‘il duomo’ and a pleasant atmosphere. The waiters are very kind and joke a lot. They have a large assortiment of drinks including a large selection of good wines. Good place to rest after a visit of the cathedral.
Came here after waiting to be served for ages at cafe scudieri, and waiters never came , was seated in seconds, served in a minute food arrived 3 minutes later, very satisfied! This is what you call service!!!
Nice location. Burger is very nice. Service is bit slow and staff should be more attentive.
Amazing food. Took a bit of time to service the food but it was worth it.
Good food, but no one showed us to the table until we walked into the middle of the restaurant,
Great location with the view of the Cathedral de Santa Maria del Fiore, musical bands are always playing nice music around which make the experience extra special.I didnt try the food so cant comment on that but the wine menu has excellent selection of wine.Service is good but a bit slow given how busy they are.
Lovely location and environment. My pastry was nice too. However, and this seems to be the thing in Florence in general, a waitress saw me taking a table, I even asked if there was a table service, and then there I am sitting around for ages and no one taking my order. I went inside to order and was sent back to wait for the waiter. This is not the service for such a premium place. Coffee was ok.
Very good for breakfast, delicious pastries, fast service, great view of the baptistery, ultracentral location
We had breakfast here while waiting for the duomo to open. My coffee and small sandwich were good. There were no complaints from anyone and the service was good.
A lovely spot with the magnificent view of the duomo great coffee and pastries 🥮 all day long
Food was great! Really friendly staff who made our night! Would recommend it ❤️
Way too expensive. All we had was coffee and croissants and we paid close to 30 euro. The waitress was nice to us and we were served immediately.
What a superb location. Lovely beer, prosecco and food with excellent service. Giuseppe looked after Mamma and the rest of us so well. We loved the tiramisu especially the amaretto one.Thank you for the happy memories.
Most definitely targeted to tourists but the food was good as the service was quick and attentive, and you get a great view of the Duomo. Prices are about what you would expect.
Im currently at the restaurant. 20 minutes for the waiter to come and see what I want, and only after I made him a signal.I just asked for the bill, and I can see the waiter walking around looking down and doing everything but go get my bill. Im still waiting, there has been around 10 minutes. If you have the chance, dont come here, its a horrible horrible service.
Absolutely loved this place, literally besides Il Duomo, you can actually see it from the windows of the restaurant, the staff was super kind and the food delicious. Everything was amazing, we order five pasta dishes and all of them were spectacular. If you like thick pasta try the pici, it was such an amazing dish. Finally you cannot leave this place without trying their tarts. We order the fruit tart, nocciola tart and frutti di bosco, and all of them were exquisite, we couldnt chose a favourite.
I’ve visited the restaurant several times. The food quality was always excellent.I’ve tried Burgers, Salmon, Pasta, and had sweets. All were in excellent quality. The service was very good as well. One thing I’ve noticed. The staff likes the people who come for actual food, not sweets and coffee. So if you’re going for coffee and sweets I suggest you go at basically coffee time not dinner time to get better service.Overall, I liked the restaurant, and would suggest it to others.
Good service 👍🏼, we had an amazing steak 🥩 😻 called Bistecca alla Fiorentina ❤️❤️❤️ and Excellent wine 🍷 BirilloAmazing culinary experience 🤩 🥰🥰🥰
This place is a little touristy (which you can expect from its location), but dont let that turn you away from trying this place. Its a very convenient place to grab something to eat, and the food is quite good! Definitely stop in for a sack or a drink, I dont think youll be disappointed.
Amazing service! The coffee and pastries were delicious, right in front of the main plaza.
I wish I would have read reviews before going there, I live in italy and I know the prices, they charged me 8.5 euro for a cappuccino and tea. Totally a tourist trap. And service was so poor. The quality was normal to low, not recommended.
I always tend to stop here for a spritz or lunch when I am in town. Quality food and amazing location. Ideal for people watching. Service is always friendly and on point. Amina (sp?was our last server and she did an amazing job. Be back in October!
You pay for the view, not the food. We grabbed a late lunch here and admired the view of the catherdral from an outside table but the food - the burrata ravioli and chicken salad - was just okay.
So no visit to Florence in front of the cathedral we’re having a fabulous coffee with different pastries great ice cream a little pricey but the energy in the atmosphere is absolutely incredible and the scenery of the cathedral in the architecture is a spectacular highly recommend it
Good latte, penne all Arrabiata, as well as meatballs. Their pastry counter looks great too.
Coffee drinks are very good. Service is sometimes lacking. Dessert seemed almost store bought in flavor.
We had a lovely dinner with my friend here. In the dinner seating the waiter was very nice, and the food served was very good. I ordered risotto, and was one of the best I had in Firenze. After this experience we went back for breakfast. The choice for breakfast is big, very nice fruit salads and sandwiches.
Giuseppe is the most friendly waiter andVery dedicated! Beautiful view to the Cathedral, delicious Italian food. We enjoyed the dinner and the drinks.
It was raining outside, so we looked for a place to relax and have coffee, we were lucky to find a spot to sit as it was full, and at the same time very happy about it...the coffee was excellent, than we discover the cakes, WOW, it was hard to choose one as they all looked amazing...must admit they were also very tasty :- All in all, really nice place, great atmosphere, fair prices, great food and drinks...service was ok in regarding to the crowded hour we have been there. Definitely a place to return few times or to make it a daily stop.
Very nice caffe style restaurant with decent selection of drinks. Had Bottegone salad and chicken Caesar salad, Moretti beers on tap and Long Island ice teas. Everything great except Long Island Ice teas not the best we ever hand, so maybe stay away from the mixed drinks. Awesome location looking at the Baptistery and corner of the Duomo. If you are lucky, you will have a traditional Florentine procession pass by, horses, drums and all (4:30ish on a Monday for us).Seating inside and out, plus a second floor for the busy times. Wait staff courteous, professional. Ciao, tutti!
Absolutely great for a morning coffee, with a wide selection of pastries and savoury sandwiches. However, the service wasn’t amazing, had to keep prompting the waitress to order and for the bill as well. Also in the morning, only a few of the outside tables actually get any shade, which can make it very hot.But overall, quite good, especially the coffee which I would recommend.
Went there for some noon coffee on a cloudy day. Sat outside and enjoyed the excellent view.Got a cappuccino. This was stronger than the ones I have had so for in Italy, but tasty still. Tried a panini too and liked it. Their chocolate croissant is worth a try.If you visit, try and sit outside and enjoy the view+good food and great coffee!!
As opposed to other reviews, service was good, standard waiting time, friendly staff.Tasty meals and desserts, with nice view over Cathedral located right next to it. Number of outdoor tables, but there is also good number of tables inside - if weather is not pleasant.
