Fantastic food and service. We decided on this restaurant while walking past with intention to go to another restaurant but the smell and vibe of this place drew us in. And our noses did not fail us! The food was well cooked and delicious and the service was very good. A memorable restaurant with some very good Italian food. Please do yourself a favor and order the buratta for an appetizer. It was probably our favorite part of the meal

Definitely a hidden gem in Old San Juan. I visited it for the first time today with my wife and we were delighted with the place. Excellent Italian food at a great price. I ate the pork tenderloin in pineapple sauce with almond risotto and my wife ate the pumpkin stuffed ravioli and we can say that both dishes were delicious. I recommend it 200%. If you are in Olda San Juan you don’t want to miss this place. Also great employees and super kind.

Located in Old San Juan, Bacaro restaurant very well fits into the authentic atmosphere of the town. Everything there looks great, and I’m giving 5 stars to all of these: cuisine, decoration, service, and music. The art, tables, chairs, mirror... Each part of the restaurant has a small detail, and you cant stop looking at it.The menu has an excellent presentation of Italian cuisine. Fabiola, our server, recommended us try the specials of the day. Oh.... Im not sure that my vocabulary has enough words to describe these dishes.If youre traveling to San Juan, be ready to put this restaurant on your list. Its my first time in San Juan, and I want to be honest: Im in love. And the big part of this love is taken by the Bacaro restaurant. Cant wait to come back.

Great find! Gem of a restaurant. Walked in and got the best table in the house, high top on the window. All the ladies working were so friendly! Drinks amazing. Portion sizes are great. Perfect night, start here and head to La Factoria!

Everything was amazing! We had the caprese salad, 4 cheese penne, the fish special and tiramisu. The food was so fresh and tasty. The cream sauce in the penne was a really smooth texture and didnt feel heavy as you would expect. The winning dish goes to the tiramisu, it is the best Ive ever tried outside of Italy! They make it in house and its a must try. We hope to be back if we can get a reservation

The best Italian food you can get at Old San Juan!Food came by quick and it was delicious. The cocktails were outstanding, make sure you get served by bartender Angelica at the bar.She was very attentive and cordial, checked on us very often!WOULD RECOMEND 100%

Easily the best food I’ve had in Puerto Rico. From the drinks, to the appetizers, to our entrees, the experience was phenomenal. We started with a couple drinks, then the bruschetta platter and pulled pork turnovers which were phenomenal. Made my tastebuds dance a little bit. Then I had the fettuccine with shrimp which was awesome! Overall dining experience was impeccable! Will be back when I’m in the area! Oh, I almost forgot, we ended with the tiramisu which was to die for! Highly suggest!

My wife and I came here on a whim, after our first restaurant choice was unavailable. I found this " hole in the wall" restaurant to be quaint and very intimate. We were seated quickly by the super friendly staff. We ordered our food from their simple menu and it did not take long for the food to be served. The food was delicious as it was fresh. The wife and I agreeed, this was our best meal on the Island. This was the perfect combination of friendly service, quality of food and price. This restaurant is a hidden gem. We will definatly come back on our next visit.

Awesome! Best Rib Eye I’ve ever had! Lamb chops were phenomenal! Even the spinach salad was so good.Ask about the daily specials, they were perfect.

Get the bruschetta!! It comes with 6 kinds and each was uniquely delicious. I had the fish of the day which was red snapper over linguine and it was amazing. We had a really great night here. All the servers were nice and also beautiful and complimented our nails, which was fun for us.

Yummy Italian. We called when we landed in PR and had a good selection of reservations for 2 just two nights later. The pasta was yummy and drinks were good. Small but good wine selection. We did see a couple get turned away right before us so just call ahead. Cappuccino was delicious.

10/10 experience. We had a large group and no reservation, but they made a notable effort to accommodate us. The service staff was wonderful, friendly, and quick. Loved the atmosphere and the interior design; and of course, loved the food! The salmon risotto was the best Ive ever had, and I thought the drinks were superb. Overall, was probably the best restaurant I visited while in San Juan!

We had an absolutely wonderful meal here.....the lamb chops, burrata w/pesto and tomato, the pasta dishes and the leche cake were all amazing. Definitely make a reservation....we were lucky because we got there early and they were able to squeeze us in.....omg it was soooooooo good. Wine selection was great! They do have a tiny bar so if your lucky, you may be able to snatch a chair. Our waitress was the best, she gave us some time, kept coming back to check on us, explained some dishes and offered some really great recommendations! Not only that, she sang! She sang Happy Birthday to another party in opera! It was the highlight of the evening. The place is small, but cozy and eclectic. We all loved it!

The best restaurant on the island. Aside from the friendly owners and staff every dish is most amazing flavor we’ve ever tried. The wine selection is impeccable as well! Do yourself a favor and visit this gem if you at old San Juan!

The tiramisu was put of this world! Yum! Mostly the place has pastas and very good looking starters. Also daily rotating items. Liked their wine glasses and waitress’s wine recommendation was good. A bit nosy inside. We were able to get a table without a reservation on a Sunday night.

One of the best meals we had in Puerto Rico. Amazing cocktails, amazing food. (I’ve worked in Italy for years and the burrata and bruschetta is legit!Very reasonable prices. Perfectly sized: small enough to be intimate and big enough for atmosphere. Absolutely loved it.

We walked in on a Saturday night and got lucky. We got seated at the bar with Alexo. He was awesome. Great conversation and great food. He recommended the Salmon and it was delicious. We also had a bottle of wine, the caprese, gorganzola salad, and puttanesca. We finished off the evening with a couple espresso cocktails, tiramisu and flan. Everything was delicious and it was definitely our best meal during our week on the island. We cant wait to visit again!

Wow. Who would have thought to have Italian in PR? Stopped in on our way out of town and it turns out it was a great decision. Amazing food. Had the bruschetta sampler, all were very good but the eggplant was out of this world. If Alexo the bartender is working you will be doing yourself a disservice if you dont order a "smoky" (its not smoky, name doesnt do it justicehe is a Alchemist behind the bar. All around great experience.

Great little spot! Alexis is the best bartender weve met on the island. Food was amazing (do yourself a favor and get the pork turnovers - wow!).Service was attentive and drinks were on point.

Bacaro was the best food we’ve had on our trip to Puerto Rico this week and definitely the best dining experience. We didn’t have a reservation and the place was completely full but they managed to seat us before closing and had excellent service. The food was incredible. We both ordered off the specials menu and each dish was excellent - large portions of very flavorful and beautiful food. The bartender was also excellent with such a fun personality and delicious, unique drinks. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Food was great and the drinks were amazing. Our bartender, Alex, was one of the best bartenders Ive had the pleasure of meeting. If you get the chance to stop in, sit at the bar, you will not regret it. We ordered the bartenders creation off the menu all night and were not disappointed

This restaurant was highly recommended by our hotel, El Colonial. What a gem! We sat at the bar and had the best dining experience with Alex the bartender. The cocktails were superb and the meal was fabulous! Make reservations so you wont have to wait in line!

Absolutely the best Italian food in Puerto Rico. The attention to service, detail, design, effort, quality, and execution is bar none perhaps the best on the island. Shout out to Alex, perhaps the best bartender in all of San Juan. Ask for his “Smoky” or “Old Fashioned” creations <3

My husband and I spent our 10th Anniversary in Viejo San Juan, the weekend of November 18, 2021! We were absolutely blown away by every single detail the team at Bacaro did to make our evening special, including placing a rose and petals on the table we dined at. The service, food and details were above and beyond. The food was incredible. Every person on the team came to our table to wish us a Happy Anniversary, but also to ensure we had everything we needed. Make a reservation because you wont want to miss this gem during your time in Old San Juan! Thank you Desi, and the team!

We sat at the bar for a few cocktails and a snack and had an awesome night with Alex the bartender! He is not just a drink creator but a performer and incredibly friendly and helpful! Food was great, we felt so at home here and will definitely be back next time we are on the island. If you’re curious where to go, come sit at the bar with Alex and enjoy the feeling of being family and having amazing food and drinks!

If you like Italian, you MUST come to Bacaro, the food, the coctails are delicious. And the Tiramisu is the best I have eaten in my life. If you don’t try you will miss the best taste of tiramisu! Everyone is so friendly, kind and helpful!

What a breathe of fresh air, we loved Alex! If you go, sit at the bar to get one of a kind drinks, conversation and a once in a lifetime experience! Food is out of this world and drinks are unique and scrumptious.

I would like to give this place 10 starts if I could!!!! This is a wonderful wonderful wonderful family-owned Restaurant! Foods from Bruschetta, Pull over porks, Gnocchi, Snapper are all perfectly cooked, seasoned and presented in the most gorgeous way possible!!!! The dessert Cheese Flan and Tres Leches are so authentic full of character and flavor!!!!Eduardo the muscle guy treat us like angels! Alex the Bartender made wonderful smoky and smooth cocktails for us with!!!!!! Heil Bacardi! Heil Old San Juan!!!! We will be back with more friends as soon as possible!!!!!!

Tried couple of amazing cocktails as well as food recommendation from Alexis, the bartender. The best hands down recommendation… he was great to talk to, gave local sighting recommendations and made us feel so welcomed. I will definitely come back.

Alex, the bartender, made our experience the absolute BEST!! His crafted cocktails with homemade syrups, cinnamon smoked glasses, and beautiful garnishes can not be beat. The restaurant was packed and we were lucky to have a seat at the bar to watch him create. The food was outstanding! You must try this hidden gem.

Amazing !! This had to be one of the best dinning experiences ever. I walk in after they were closed and I was upset I couldn’t find any where hood to eat and the gentleman who first approached me said let me talk to the chef and see what we can do to get you a great meal so I had just about everyone waiting on me from the hostess to the bartender to the chef. My waitress desie was the best. She was so laid back and warm. Made me feel at home. I would recommend this place to everyone Who comes to Old San Juan

Seriously- make this a stop on your itinerary. Hands down best spot in San Juan. It’s a small, unassuming place without any flashy lights or loud music, but every single thing we got was perfectly cooked, arrived super fast with the best service. The pasta tasted like it melted in your mouth, and the tiramisu was even better than what we had in Italy. The owners are the kind of people you can tell genuinely care. I Wish we had more days in PR to come back and try the other dishes on the menu!! Thank you for such a memorable meal!

Wow. As a local my only regret is not visiting this gem earlier out of fear it would be a tourist trap due to its location. But the reviews were too good, so I decided to make a reservation. The food was amazing. everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. The taste was authentic and par to italian cuisine . Not to be a surprise as the chef lived 25 years in italy. The service was outstanding and the drinks delicious. Not to be missed. Excellent.

This place is ridiculous. Everything we had was delicious. The place has an extreme local ambiance. The drinks were great. The staff was friendly.Please realize that you Uber here. Delicious food and nice atmosphere. The bruscheta appetizer is amazing, each one of five pieces has a different topping, all delicious! Frutti di mare risotto was great, so was the steak with wine reduction. Homemade slow-cooked marinara sauce is the real deal! Pasta and risotto cooked perfectly al dente, thumbs up! Really good coffee accompanied with a bit different but also very good, creamy tiramisu. The owners, husband and wife, work the restaurant and take pride in their business, their active involvement in the business makes a great difference. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and the service is fast. Very pleased! Good luck with your wonderful restaurant!

Wow! Come at 6pm before the later then the mainland rush and you’ll be impressed! Excellent bartender with amazing takes on drinks. Great Italian food and exquisite homemade desert!

Amazing! Stumbled upon this place accidentally and so glad I did. The mezcal-rita and my carbonara were fantastic. Possibly the best service Ive had on this island so far. Hannah was very attentive and friendly and the bartender was quick and funny. Great experience and would recommend to anybody.

Fantastic pasta, great prices and the best old fashioned Ive had, and Ive had some great old fashions from S.A.! Joanna was a fantastic waitress (honestly the whole staff was great!The only critique I have is the portion sizes could be smaller so we could try some different things! Overall, would definitely come back when we come back to San Juan!!
