Ikura Bistro Sushi Bar in San Juan

So I have a lot to say about this little place.First of all I think the quality is incredible especially for what one would say is just a hole in the wall. And it literally is since it’s take-out only you place your order through a hole in the wall. I wish they had a website with a menu with pictures available. I like my sushi restaurants like my Denny’s, with lots of pictures! But when you order here it’s just some white paper taped to the door and you’re standing there kind of awkwardly trying to place your order with someone in a window. I would have liked to at least have had a head start on my order. Also I must say that for take-out only I think this place is a bit over-priced. However as I’ve said the quality and freshness are incredible and I often find many places in San Juan to be pricey. So all that being said. If you’re in the area stop by!! But as someone else posted it’s probably not worth an Uber to come here!

The food was delicious. You can make a call for carry out and in 15 minutes will be done. Recommended!!!

Downside is takeout only. Amazing sushi, would recommend ikura special roll, my favorite. Rangoons were delicious.

We ordered the Ikura special roll and the fried dumplings. Both were absolutely delicious. Although it says dine-in, it is takeout only. But they do have a couple tables outside to sit at. I would absolutely recommend.

ONLY Take out from the windowGoogle states it’s dine in and take out…but hey no one is traveling out of town and needs to know these things 🙄. Sushi was not worth the Uber(s).

Would not have expected to find such a good fish restaurant in the location it is. But the fish is fresh and the portions are respectful. Best quality/price sushi on island.

Nice food option for stopping San Juan. Tried fry rice, noddle, sushi,. All Yammy.

Close to Caribe Hilton. Chinese food with sushi at cheap price. Eating at the hotel was pricey.

As an Asian person, I can tell you this restaurant is definitely Americanized. Soggy rice that is not seasoned well.. ugh

I ordered the spice tuna and Tofu with mixed veggies. The sushi is absolutely delicious and the stir fry was great too! I highly recommend this place.

Ordered General Tso Chix (very good), Chix Fried Rice (excellent), 2 - Fried Dumplings (excellentand Seafood spring rolls (did not care for). Total was about $50 which is somewhat pricey.

Takeout only (due to zombies 🧟‍♀️). I ordered the Bento chicken with broccoli AND shrimp nigiri (pure magic). It is my new favorite place in the area.

Had a take out sushi and chicken low Mein. The sushi rolls were incredible….

They were only doing take out due to COVID. The owners were very nice and did a good job preparing our order correcty. We ordered 6 sushi rolls and a vegetable fried rice. All of the rolls were good and the fried rice was ok but not great. I would definitely eat here again.

This is the best sushi 🍣 place in San Juan and the service is incredible 2 days in a row for me and I will be a regular for sure 😊😊😊you have to try the seafood rolls wow

I was shocked how good the food is!! The salmon bento box was fantastic. The teriyaki salmon was very fresh and grilled perfect, fried rice was seasoned perfect and came with 4 yummy sushi roll and salad. I also ordered the Singapore Rice noodles for later but couldnt help digging in early because they were soo good. Portions are big size too. They are only doing take out at the time of writing but its soo worth it especially if your in a hotel close by. It was a 2 min walk from the Hilton

Fair price, excellent food and service. They are only offering take-out and Im not sure if they do delivery but I loved the service and the rolls were excellent.

This place was so good. The food, the service, the prices; it was a very good experience. And even though we weren’t able to dine in because of the pandemic, the service was still excellent. They always smiled. (Because we had to wait outside, the owner noticed that we needed one more chair to sit and wait and he went all out to make us feel comfortable)

The soy sauce is sweet and the rice is … just not rice…

Highly recommend eating here. We stayed at the Caribe Hilton and it was just a short walk away. We ate here at the beginning of our trip and loved it so much we came back on the last day of our trip to have it again before we left! Best salad, sushi and fried rice! Highly recommend and will be returning when we come to town again! The customer service is great too!

Absolutely phenomenal food and sushi! We had the chicken fried rice and a few different sushi rolls. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and would eat here again if we were local! Service was great too.

Dont be fooled by the outside of this restaurant. This is a hidden gem - not a typical Americanized or authentic Chinese restaurant. But the food is just fresh and delicious, from pan fried dumplings to the Ikura steak, from Won Ton Soup to Lo Mein. Everything we tried is great!

Cozy place, friendly staff (assumed to be the ownersmenu is mixed Chinese and sushi. Ingredients are fresh. Teriyaki beef was excellent. Ate a few rolls all are excellent.

Stumbled upon this place, and decided to give it a try. My first trip to Puerto Rico, and Im having trouble finding vegetarian food. Their tofu and vegetables were simple and had great flavor. The owners are very nice and helpful. Glad to see all the high ratings.

The reviews here are near perfect for a reason. I eat a lot of Chinese food (somehow), and this place has the best General Taos chicken I have ever had. Great staff there too - super nice people.Dont let the exterior fool you. The interior is great and the food is amazing!

This place was great! Excellent food, prices are reasonable for the area, and service was perfect. They spoke both English and Spanish. The atmosphere was comfortable and clean. Absolutely nothing bad to say.

This place doesnt say much from the outside, maybe because at first glance it looks small... Far from it ! Truly one of the best sushi restaurants in the area. Prices are reasonable, sushi IS GREAT! and the waiters were so nice they even let us try some entreés we had asked about but didnt actually order.Overall superb experience

The Best part of this place is that all the people are the real thing, all the dishes have real flavors of the original only some items merge with the local taste but still the original recipes and ingredients you can find all the Best Original Sushis and different kind of noodles available that made a whole different taste in the plates, well for a great experience come and try for you self.

They give the best service ever. They are always kind and really attentive with the customers. The food is delicious, better than any other sushi place I have ever been and not pricey at all. Every time I visit I try to eat something different, because of all the amazing variety they have on their menu. Though it could be so easy to just fall in love with the same dish over and over again. I would have liked to just keep this place a secret, but my conscience didnt leave me no option but to recognize publicly how awesome this place is.

Walked in on a Tuesday night. The place was empty but the food was phenomenal. Service was great. Friendly and fast. Plan on going back today. Definitely will be a regular spot when we are in the area. ( we live in Chicago)

I had the Kung Pao Spicy, white rice, California Rolls, and ice tea...it was all excellent! I would come here again.

Best place for sushi yet! I went in to a quiet, And friendly atmosphere to experience what I can personally say is the best sushi Ive had in awhile. I would highly recommend you go in and try this place out yourselves. Not many people were in their which shocked me by how good the food was.
