Icelandic Festival Of Manitoba - Islendingadagurinn in Gimli

My favorite festival in Manitoba! Amazing people, great entertainment, beautiful town and awesome atmosphere! I would recommend it to everyone!

some good things to see but overall kind of boring

It wasnt really my kinda thing but it was well put together and it was uniquely interesting. The actors really made it come to life and there were all kinds of authentic viking trinkets and weapons to see and explore. Was very interesting

The people are great. Running this event, acting, explaining, filling the roles, showing their crafting and crafts. Impressive quality and passion!

Super fun festival. Parade was entertaining. Loved the viking village. The villagers demonstrate viking blacksmithing, cooking, carving, weaponry, furniture making, weaving and are very interactive with the audience.

Amazing time, lots to see and do

Awesome people, nice history. Good family event.

Lots of rides and activities. Your kids will have a blast while you drag your tired body after them. Lots of small souvenir shops and stores. We try to go every year. Back again this year. Dont miss the parade, and the farmers market North near Arnes. Tons of crafts for sale.

I love ice fest! Its good for families and for people without kids who just want to have a good time and everyone has so many dogs. I saw two puppies that were so little! Its always lots of fun with lots to do!

Gimli is a very cool town to visit! Quaint little shops. Nice beach and pier. And Icelandic festival is always fun!

Great heritage and awsome event!

Improves every year. The viking village is very cool. Would be neat if they had Norse mythology story telling. The Viking battles were really cool this year. Great fun for all.

Always a fun time to be had by all. Excellent food, entertainment, activities for children and a great gathering spot in Gimli for family and friends.

Second year going. Love the authenticity of the village. Such great, friendly volunteers there who live the Viking life all weekend.

Well organized, lots to do. Arrive early to find parking as it is a small town.

Great for everyone - family, friends, and pets. So much to experience: shops, food, music, Viking village, games, more food, and much more. I definitely recommend checking it out.

This is a yearly trek for us. Between the vendors, the viking village, and the lake, we always have a wonderful weekend.

Had so much fun attending this festival for the first time. Will be back every year for sure!

There are lots of fun free events! Its more at a childrens level but its interesting for adults too. The town is packed during the festival, so come prepared to walk quite a distance from where you park.

I go here every year and always bring friends or family that have never been. The Viking village, shopping & street vendors, food trucks, amusement park and people & pets from all over the world. Always a fun time 😁

I have enjoyed coming to this festival for many years. I really like the Viking Village. There are many shop tents and food trucks.

The Icelandic Festival - Islendingadagurinn is one of if not the longest running festival in Canada. Each year over the August long weekend the welcoming town of Gimli booms with Visitors from far and wide. Many coming home to their Icelandic roots to have annual rendezvous with family, other coming just to enjoy the celebrations.There are races for kids with freezies as prizes, music at the pier, rides in the park. It is my favorite festival and I return every year. Book your holiday early as hotels gets reserved early.
