Classic Italian dishes and wood-fired pizza served amid modern lights and bronze patterned screens.
Awesome views, friendly staff and amazing food. Thoroughly enjoyable experience
Another disappointment in Darwin dining. Our meals were no better than pub grub, if not worse. The mushroom gnocchi was like they had taken a glue stick and chopped it up. It was like clag. The sauce was like a gravy…this dish was a real let done. The fish was dry and came with two tasteless ‘things’ on the side that I’m not even sure what they were! And as for the service, in the two hours that we were sat there, not once did they fill our glasses with our wine. Yep you guessed it, the only time that they attempted a refill was when the bottle was empty!! Total amateur staff.TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT AND EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. ($38 for gnocchi…I would not even pay at a top end restaurant in Melbourne)
My partner and I had a lovely date night here. Everything was absolutely perfect food was amazing but what just topped off our night was the service it was outstanding especially the waitress looking after our table she was fantastic unfortunately didnt get her name and didnt have cash to tip her or we absolutely would have !! over all such a fabulous night 100% recommend :)
Pizza and wine were great and the view beautiful! Service was good as well.
Lets start with the positive, service was first class, quick, friendly, welcoming, attentive and happy to accommodate changes. The ambience and decor were spot on with a nice relaxed atmosphere while still having a luxurious feel. Now the not so good, the food was hit and miss, the steak was flavourless and we had both versions on the menu. We ordered both medim rare with one over and one under. The red wine jus was disappointing and tasted watered down, it was definitely not worth the $58 price. The fish from the kids fish and chips tasted like it was frozen packet fish. Out of the mains we ordered the barramundi was the stand out and was done well. The desert were much better than the mains with the lemon posset being light, fresh and well balanced. Overall Im not sure if the location decor and service can overcome the below par food.
Service was good I asked for a dry martini with 2 olives and I got 1/2 glass or less martini 2 very cheap skinny olives on a stick sitting in the bottom of my martini using my fingers to get them out yuckyNext I ordered cauliflower roasted 4/10 mashed peas and 4 1/2 tiny carrots and 6 beans bland bland nothing Italian about it4/10 desert tiramisu was very creamy no coffee only bitter chocolate and lots of cream never had one like it before I don’t think any of what I got was good ItalianI’ll wait until they change the menu before I go back we have been going there for 15 years is the chef Italian I was asked by my partner who got risotto as a main but entrée size clag rice overcooked mess pizza was great keep that sour dough one
Food and service was great. A very nice dinner experience. Expectations exceeded.
Such an amazing food & Vino experience last night at @Penfolds dinner seriesService, food & Vino spot on!Thank you for the wonderful experience, when next one!?
Amazing spot for dinner & sunset. Great food, great service & lovely atmosphere! I would recommend checking if they have an event on the lawn before booking as the noise & screens that they put up interrupts the view & isn’t relaxing.
Unfortunately Darwin is short on Italian restaurants. Il piatto is good if not strictly Italian as the menu is repetitive and limited. However the food is tasty and enjoyable and the service is friendly
Excellent service, staff are very attentive and do that thing where they put a napkin on your lap which made me feel like a fancy lad. The quality and preparation of the food was fantastic: squid was tender and had a smokey char, pasta was perfectly cooked, prawns were fresh and sweet. Definitely try the pasta dishes, pizzas looked great too.
So everything about this dining experience smacks of high end. Except for the veal dish....it wasnt bad at all by any means, however it really was just a pimped up schnitty that cost 55 bucks. Other than that a great night good service.
An amazing quality and fine Italian restaurant to explore in Darwin and not to forget in a great place Casino highlighting that the restaurant has an amazing view infront of the beach with great staffs to serve you around with professional approach. Thank you for the amazing service and food will be back for sure.Highly recommend 👌
We were dubious about dining at the casino but Il Piatto did not disappoint. Lovely venue with attentive service. The gnocchi with mushrooms was amazing and will definitely go back for more. Would like to see a few more dessert options.
Friendly staff. However crumbed veal for $53 way overpriced . soggy crumbs, tasteless slaw, roast potatoes that aren’t as nice as home cooked and plated like they didn’t care. Not going back in a hurry. Best views worse restaurant.
Went to book a table for 15 people, told need to have set menu??? Said I was willing to come few days earlier and tell them what entrees we would like, choose mains on the night, was told they cannot do that, set menu only??? What type of restaurant cannot do 15 people al a carte???Photo of choice set menu, absolute joke!!!
A surprise birthday dinner. Was ok. Very busy, long wait between ordering, food served was warm to cold. Asked for certain drinks only to be told they cannot make and can only order drinks from menu. Disappointing.
A beautiful restaurant with beautiful sea views. Is a high end restaurant with good pasta and friendly staff. The steak was tough and not seasoned well but overall the food was good! The views are fantastic so I highly recommend to get there early to see the sunset.
It was wonderful to find this restaurant in the casino. With great views over the beach and amazing sunsets. A romantic setting for date nights. The service was friendly and attentive as you were shown to your table and seated. The mean although not large had plenty of choice. The food was fresh and delicious house made pasta yum. The pizza also delicious we have had those at the bar next door. The decor and atmosphere was calm and relaxed. Recommend and will return
Started off beautifullyEntree was awesome …. SquidService was really goodMains was no more than pub grubVery disappointing, veal was tuffBrownie wasn’t cookedAnd coffee undrinkable , it’s not hard to make a long black ! Seriously. Not in a hurry to return and we are local !
Outstanding service and food. The Prawn Pasta was exquisite.
Fantastic food. Good service and location is beautiful.Tailors to the upper class but this is Darwin. Thongs, shorts and a shirt should be acceptable. 😁
A very special place we love to celebrate here. They food is always perfect along with the staff and of course the view
It was my second time in the restaurant, and the fifth time for my partner and we love to go in this restaurant. Very nice view, great Italian food, always good wine, big thanks for the head chef Antonio, who always make us happy and full!If you looking for a great dinner, I recommend this place hundred percent.
The best farewell at the best Italian restaurant in Darwin. The staff are super friendly and the food is super delecioso!!! So long, Darwin!
Weve just celebrated our anniversary here tonight.Everyone when out of their way to make our evening special.Absolutely 7 stars for service, food and desert, thank you for your special touch.
The kitchen did a fantastic job with a four course meal, including a steak which was served medium rare (I usually prefer medium to well done), however I really enjoyed the steak the way it was done. You did have choice of the meal you preferred. The Maitre de and Staff did a exceptional job making sure everyone was attended to in a professional and timely manner, not forgetting the online booking Staff member who was extremely helpful. Well worth $155, no cooking and no dishes to worry about. Will be attending this year again for the fifth year running,Thanks People at ill Piatto well done 🥳
Ordered oysters kilpatrick, oysters were tiny and dry. The beef waygu was nice, a lot of flavour however chips were cold and the whole dishes were definitely not worth $48.00. Disappointed to say the least.
Having eaten here 3 or 4 times in last 3 years.Service was great . Venue always greatBut food very disappointingOut of 6 of us, no one was satisfied and not cheapWine very expensive. $20 bottle of pepperjack$75Yes I know they got to make a profit but.......
Great wine list and couldnt fault the food! Gorgeous sunset views if eating outside and nice atmosphere if inside - not too much noise bouncing around like some other restaurants in Darwin! Great spot for a fancy Italian dinner with mid to high range menu.
The best restaurant in Darwin - love it. We come here for lunch and dinner, invite business people and VIPs. Just love the Il Piatto, Mark, who manages it and the amazing staff who are always very helpful. I miss it now during the lockdown and cant wait for it to re-open
Lovely location and outlook over Mindil beach. Some of the best service in Darwin, very attentive staff even when they got busy. Wine menu is quite over-priced but the food is very good!
Have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now. The menu (and presumably the managementhave changed a couple of times over the past 18 months and the restaurant has gone down hill over this time. Pizza is still good, however, we went there tonight and there were barren tables, no longer crisp, white table cloths and the pasta we ordered as a main was incredibly disappointing and a entree size instead of a main (maybe 8-10 pieces total).
This has been my favourite restaurant in Darwin for over 2 years and have recommended to everyone here I am discussing food with (which is many!). However last night we went to sample the new menu and I ordered the Jew Fish which is one of my favourites. What bright spark decided to put this beautifully cooked fish on some bread that ended up like a soggy pizza! Not classy at all! The previous presentation was far better. The meal was very very average and my husbands steak, while nice, was on par with the $5 special we get at Parap Tavern on a Tuesday night. The panna cotta was superb but again I preferred the previous presentation of this. All in all quite disappointing and will not be rushing back. I felt I could easily cook a meal of this standard myself and that is saying something! My very first meal there was the crab ravioli which was absolutely lovely then disappeared off the menu. I would expect much better from this esteemed establishment!
Great menu, lots of choices available. The ingredients were lovely - fresh and deliciously prepared. Best meal of our Darwin trip by far. The stunning view of the sunset as we ate was the cherry on top.
Returning to Darwin after 8 years away, I was keen to again find at IL Piatto as it was one of my favourite restaurants. I was not disappointed, the food and service was excellent, sitting on the balcony where we watched the sun set, the location superb. My only criticism is the portion sizes were too small.
Good quality food but the portions are way too small given the price tag. Also, was seated outside on the terrace and after four other tables filled up the waiters were no longer attentive. We waited for 15-20 minutes before someone took notice. Wanted to have cake/coffee after dinner but decided to walk out given the lack of attention after the desert menu was brought to us on request. Would have been better off at the local pub. Still hungry so gonna have to grab a second dinner.
After trying most of Darwins restaurants Ive had to change my reviews for IL Piatto to take its place as my number 1. I had a three course meal with wines and while there isnt much available by the glass, that I would consider delicate, I still enjoyed what I was provided. The food here is amazing and the staff are very hospitable and friendly. I would recommend asking for a table by the window just to experience possibly the best sun set in town. It was an amazing place and I will definitely return. Great for groups, couples and families.
Excellent dining experience! Food was delicious and well presented.
We love the ambiance, appetizing & palatable food, wonderful staff and great service. They even extended their assistance for my husbands birthday, it was a kind gesture!Overall, we were pleased with the service and would recommend this place.
Decor is looking old and tired needs upgradeFood ok also needs update fish on broad beans not exciting thought it might be different with layout or something more colorful or tasty also went to the sandbar and ordered dry martini which I thought came with olives came with lemon skin ordered this. A year ago and was told they ran out of olives guess they still don’t have any for what I paid it was definitely disappointing night go back only when it’s been given new life view is amazingSkycity needs to update this area and look at the menus again desert which I used to look forward to well I was not impressed with any of it most boring desert I have ever seen out of date gone back 10 years I think they need to watch master chef for ideas
Awesome food. Great service. Scenery is fantastic!
Rarely do I give five stars but I and the group throughly enjoyed the food, the service and the wonderful view. We are so used to seeing the bay from other vantage points that we think all angles are the same. My Risotto was excellent.
Had been there for lunch ... Nice and cheap as there was some promotion going on.. a must try place
Food was great, serving sizes for items like Lamb cutlets and steaks etc are a bit small so you might want a side or an entree aswell. Drinks are table service only which was a pain when you had to wait for service to come to you but otherwise a pleasant restaurant for Darwin. Views toward the harbour are nice, Window table would be ideal for a date or even on the deck during the Dry season.
Surprisingly good food inside a casino. Last night at the hotel and decided to give this a try. Very pretty view of the sunset and the food was tasty. Staff was really helpful when we told them we will share all of our dishes, everything came in 2 separate servings.
This is one of my favourite restaurants. Very reasonably priced, tasty food. Open kitchen makes for a fascinating view of food production or alternatively watching the sun go down over the ocean. It can get quite busy, and therefore noisy - so this isnt the location for a quiet dinner for two. But for all other occasions, Il Piatto is sensational!
Potato and pumpkin gnocci with truffle oil was smooth, velvety and very flavoursome. Staff were polite and professional and very attentive. Venue is lovely overlooking the sea.
They didnt charge us, but thats because the food was inedible. We go there often for the pork belly, but today the pork was tough, no crackle either. The scallops were tough. The tortellini was dry and the crispy prosciutto was too tough to chew. Great location and service.
Very disappointed and wont be coming back. We had a farewell dinner for one of our friends tonight. Table was booked for 15 @ 6pm. When we got to the venue we were ushered to two tables much to our disappointment. We asked if tables could be joined together or move the tables elsewhere as we booked as a group but staff said theyre unable to do it as it is a very busy night for them. We were then asked if we requested one table??? I was flabbergasted...it was a group booking and we EXPECTED to be seated in 1 table. No mention in the email that we are going to be seated in 2 tables which would had been the descent thing to do. We could have cancelled and booked somewhere if we knew. We were expecting the venue to be packed but tables at the end near the toilet were empty the whole time we were there (2.5 hours). We ordered a small cake for our friend from one of the staff and were told its going to be sorted which, created confusion to other staff. It seems that communication is not their strong point. My pork belly for entrée was below average, half of it was pure fat with the crackle on the tougher side. My prawn risotto was salty and was not interested with the desert after that. I didnt ask the others about their food because they were seated in the other table. I gave up twisting and turning trying to converse with them half way through dinner. We wont be recommending the place.3/10
