Nice and educative place. Rich historical data and well explained. Just a few minutes drive( around 7from Nakuru town
very natural. among gem cites to visit
Loved the whole experience ❤️❤️
The cutest place in Nakuru, perfect for hanging out with family and/or friends, picnicking allowed ☺️ or bringing kids, trek is super easy and the view is amazing ❤️ the museum is small but really helps you understand Kenya as the Cradle of Mankind.
Amazinggg place good view and u get to know quite alot of nakuru history
With a lot of nature fun and more to learn
The place is good ,though the roads are not good enough
A good place to adventure. An aerial view of the town is also super
the best, cleanest ,tasty food kudos .they do great in chinese food
Great place to visit and learn archeological activities in pre-independence Kenya
Loved it.. though t was too hot.. maybe due to presence of tortoises 🤭 a myth that where tortoises are it doesnt rain 😁😁🙌
It a fun place place to go for an out of town excursion...Has a great view of the city from the top and a quiet place to put your mind back together after a lot of work...Best place for hiking activities and team building. This place has a rich history and evidence of past human life. With a small fee of less than 2 dollars you get to experience all these.Tembea Kenya and see the great cultural diversity you havent seen 🤗
Well documented artifacts make it easy to piece together the stories without a guide for an understanding of the early man and Kenyan traditional culture. The walk was beautiful. So was the view. Its pretty easy to get to from town on an cab or a motorbike. The entry fee is very affordable. I highly encourage locals and tourists alike to visit and keep the Mankind heritage alive.
Not much to see or do. Theres turtles but theyre not fed, there was no water for them, beautiful place, can be turned into a gold mine if taken care of
Great for a picnic and team building, but have limited services and experiences.
Nice picnic place☺️Good small simple hike... Awesome view of Nakuru from the top of the hill 🌄✨
Its a good place to visit with friends or family members. So educative.
Difficult to reach by car by google maps becasue it will make you pass through a very bad road.It has been the surprise in Nakuru. I strongly advice to hire the guide because without one you will spend 5 minutes in the museum and enjoy nothing at all. There is the history of the place, the animals and trail that leads you a romantic and breathtaking view of the area.Very pleasant experience!
Hyrax is a best chilling spot offering the view of lake nakuru and surrounded by a beautiful scenery . It also has tortoises and some african cultural artifacts.
A great experience,,,,, the service was awesome,,, cool climate,,, fresh air,,, resuming next week.
The tortoise in the enclosure has multiple wives and you will often see him with one of them in the throes of venereal bliss. Slow and steady wins the race, according to Mrs. Tortoise.
You can walk through the mountain trails, get some fresh air and see Lake Nakuru, but the exhibits in the museum are poor.
Good place to enhance our knowledge of the history of Kenya
Best place to spend your leisure time.
Was a refreshing visit. There’s a small museum showcasing ornaments and tools used by local communities, the various excavations in the area and animals found on the region. The lady, Anne, that took us around was pleasant and sufficiently knowledgeable. The second part of the visit was a hike to the top of the hill and through the various sites mentioned earlier. We assumed it would be an hour tops but turned out to be 2.5hrs.The different sites don’t have much to show except that this is where it happened. Overall a good experience
Good historical sites place
Nice place to be, the view from Hyrax hill was perfect.
I was introduced to a side of Nakuru that i was totally unfamiliar with. It is also interesting the input of the Leakeys in to this priced gem of the Museums of Kenya. It is scenic, well located on the Hill with a great view over the very expansive Nakuru and the Lake. I enjoyed.
This prehistoric site offers an insight of ancient history and cultural heritage of Rift Valley communities. The main building is a 1920 architectural masterpiece that has stood the taste of time. Hyrax museum offers other attractions such as picnic walks , hill climbing, birthday party locations and tortoise park. Its great place with cool relaxed atmosphere.
Its a historical place bulid in 1920s by Mrs. Selfie in the 1920 later it was converted to a house in 1965. . Since then has a number of excavations, and Sirikwa settlement and even the bao board kind of a play that they played then.
I happened to visit when the museum was closed due to covid 19 and renovation too,but at least I got to enjoy the serenity of the outdoors, great place for a picnic or hiking too
Great place to learn and relax
Wonderful place for those interested in knowing more about history, good hiking hill for the hikers
It is a wonderful prehistorical site/museum. It has iron age and stone age tools that were used by Sirikwa community. At least 30 tortoises.
Lovely, lovely place. Beautiful tree cover and ambience, the birds chirping and cool breeze is ideal for adventurous traveler. My tour guide Japheth made the tour enjoyable...I was able to go up to the hill and viewed Lake Nakuru and just catch a glimpse of Menengai...
Cool place for relaxing your mind , prehistoric site with a sense of ancient African culture
Cool place to chill and enjoy the view of sorrounding place. Also archeological artifacts and some history lesson available.
A very nice and serene place to get away, I loved the nature trail
It was an awesome experience. The environment is soul soothing. Too much history to be learnt
A prehistoric museum which has a forest of indigenous trees and other historic artifacts. They have lots of childrens creativity clubs on Saturdays like bead work, painting (for different agesand mosaic. Good place to take children over the weekend
It will be worth your time visiting this place. Its basically an archeological site and you will learn more about the museum. It will be also a good idea to come with a group of people for a mini picnic/ hike to the top of hyrax hill.
Hyrax Hill Museum is a 5-minute drive from Nakuru town and can be accessed via the Nakuru- Nairobi highway. You will run into an unpaved road once you take the diversion off the highway, but its smooth and will take you all the way to the museum.Basically, its an archeological site and you will learn more about that at the museum.Theres a tortoise pit as well, and an opportunity to venture into the adventure the site packs, which is a mini hike all the way to the top of Hyrax hill where you will have a picturesque view of Nakuru town.
This is a nice place to visit in Nakuru. A historic site about the people who lived in this area a long time ago. Good idea to come with a group of people for a picnic or a date. Entrance fee for local is 100 kes which is pretty affordable. There is plenty of parking available. The road to this place is not yet on maps, so you need to be on the feeder road and make a left just as you pass the hill heading to Nairobi. The hill is on your left. Enjoy
its nice but very small and limited things to see it was okay. overral it was just okay.
If you love history this is a place u should have a date with, its amazing and guides are well informed of the activities that took place before the very time our great grandfathers lived.
This is near home, I like the place, the security men treated us so nicely.
Very historic place... Loved the view from the top of the hill. The tortoises were interesting..
The Museum is a bit neglected. But the staff on the ground are super friendly.
The view of Nakuru from this hill is breathtaking. Great for short hikes and picnics
Lovely place. Not much to see though.
