Best part were the rolls! Nice ambience. Typical roadhouse fare.

The food was good, and was given a bit of history of the restaurant while I waited for my order.

Had the chipotle burger and Apple pie and both were absolutely delicious. Burger was cooked to perfection and pie was warm with delicious ice cream and rum butter

I eat there every weekend. Got to get there before 6pm or you might have a slight wait. The food is really good and the wait staff is good and friendly.

Jalepeno Pork Chop was awesome great serving and flavor was amazing!

Ok food, had 4 people order the Salmon amd shrimp dinner. All four cooked different, two under cooked, one over and one perfect. The bbn previous visit a week prior the Salmon was cooked perfect.

I usually love this place. However, this time the food was not very good. I ordered a Big popper burger. It was very dry like the cook squeezed all the juiciness put of it. Service was five star!

Food was really good. Service was great. I could not give more than three stars because they were allowing people to smoke inside. Luckily they had a nice patio, with no one else on it

This place is awesome! I was with a big group and got seated quickly. The variety of options available on the menu is great! We all ordered something different and everyone was amazed how good it was. My server was knowledgeable and helpful. Im going back today :)

Ok, so, the entrées were good, but the sides were not. My wifes broccoli was tough and my fried okra tasted underdone. The burgers and sandwiches are good and come with fries, so go that direction when you eat here.

Stopped at Humphrey Petes and had a quick bite to eat during lunch. The atmosphere was packed but quiet! The environment was friendly and inviting. The food was delicious and plentiful. Prices were actually very meek, especially for a steakhouse. I was impressed by the quantity, quality and speed of the food. The girl at the bar was so sweet and the guy outside who couldn’t have been nicer who refilled my dogs water bowl…and then the food was great. If I lived closer I’d come here every week. What a great restaurant and group of people.

I have been going to Petes for years. I love the unique menu and I love the way the food is prepared the same year after year. Try their jumbo fried shrimp. Go ahead, I dare you. Lol

Came here on Fathers Day for dinner around 5pm, we got seated and ordered drinks in less than 5 minutes for a party of 5. Food was great, the wait time was a little long but once the food arrived we can tell why. Food was hot and looked amazing. Highly recommend for good food and a night out.

Loud! Waitress could not hear us and we could not hear her. Would had been better if we knew sign language. When order came we had both ordered mashed potatoes. They turned out to be like a baked potato that was scooped out with an ice cream scoop.

Going to Brownwood used to entail a trip to Underwoods, but I much prefer going to Humphrey Petes! The atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, and the staff are all very friendly.

I went to lunch here with my brother and his son, my nephew after my nephew had just graduated. The girl who served us was on her first day, she was sweet and just needed more time and training. Overall the place was really clean, had separate smoking and non smoking sections, and the food was decent. In this particular area, this was one of the better restaurants.

Such a fun experience. Definitely have to make a trip back for the rum apple pie.

The food was excellent and the service good. It was timely and very food! Servers were polite and very professional.

Good food bad service from the kitchen yelled for help from the yell rumbled and startled me as a guest. The surroundings were like they never been cleaned. Roof you can see the dust go into your food so needs deep cleaning bad.

This place is great... I loved the atmosphere and the staff. I ordered the 8oz steak with grilled shrimp. They were cooked perfect, the steak was juicy and the shrimp had a great taste.Highly recommended.

Nate is the best server. Im a Celiac, and the grilled catfish with no seasoning, a baked sweet potato and steamed broccoli are my go-to treat! My husband, who has no allergies, loves everything hes tried, except for the coleslaw. We like to sit in the bar or on the back deck. Its a fun atmosphere! Youll enjoy it.

I ordered the beef fajita stuffed baked potato and salad. The salad was good. The potato was extremely small and I had to hunt for the beef fajita meat. The meat and potato were flavorless. My husband ordered fried shrimp and a side order of fried catfish (in case the shrimp were not good. The shrimp came with fries and the fries were good. The shrimp were okay. Unfortunately the fish was almost tasteless. . We ordered from the lunch menu but expected good food regardless. I did not know that any restaurants still offer smoking/non-smoking areas. We are non-smokers. We will not go back because of the disappointing food and the smoke odor (although it was a faint odor).

When in the Brownwood, Texas area, make sure to put this on your list of restaurants. We had a wonderful meal: I had the chicken friend steak, and my husband had the a steak. It was well-prepared. The management worked hard to set the tv on NCAA Championship!! All-around great place.

Food is great! Service is friendly. Arcade room and playground for kids. Bar and out door patio for adults.

I love their fried catfish basket. It is totally on point. Also if weather permitting check out the awesome patio sitting with a childs play area! 😊👍💕

I thought it was pleasant! It definetly was a expensive excusion. It was about 26 dollars per person. I would suggest that if you are going for a quick bite to do it else where. We came in when it was less busy and then it progressed very quickly to busy and the handling of flow was pretty good. The food however, was by itself a 3.5 to 4 out of 5. It was well prepared and it tasted good. But really that was it. The drinks were also good but like stated only good. I feel the over use of seasoning for the food is its down fall and the use of cherry in everything alcoholic (That over powers any of the flavors in the drinks.). Serving was probably the best part and it was simply put what I would want at a resturant like this. They knew a skill that is hard to teach when being a waiter. Patience, this server balance it very well by staying away and stepping in at the perfect time. Overall it was a 4 out of 5 and would go again for casual dinning.

We werent given our bread and the butter was sitting there. The food took a while to get there. My fried catfish was decent, no lemon was on my plate. However my son enjoyed his pizza. My sisters also enjoyed their plates. Ill say they have really good sweet tea.

Great food and amazing service. Never even had to ask the waitress for refills, she was on it. I had the steak and shrimp and it was so flavorful. My fiancé had the grilled cat fish and it was delicious! We will definitely be back!

Had the fried catfish. If you order a large here, you will get a large. I will be having fish tomorrow as well. Topped it all off with the brownie and ice cream. It was bigger than the dessert stomach so I will also enjoy half of it tomorrow as well. Service was excellent and on the spot. He was very sociable and engaging without giving the feeling he wanted to sit down and become a member of the family. Enjoyable, with excellent food and service!

Nice atmosphere, and great staff.Our steak was less than pleasant. Asked for medium rare got well done. Server brought another steak, it was rare, but acceptable; but the cut of meat was tough as a boot. Other food was great. Maybe just an off day. Have eaten there before and was great

I highly recommend you stop here..I had a chicken fried chicken and ceasar salad, spouse had a chicken fried steak. Honestly it’s one of the best chicken fried chicken I had in a long time. The waitress was very friendly and attentive.

This is by far one of the more gross places I have been. Its not the level of grease and grime on the tables, its the state of their kitchen. The trash and pure out of grease is disgusting. This is not new trash from one busy night. There is dust all over the grime and filth. A health inspector needs to be called. Food was cold.

Food is amazing and the service is great. My only complaint is the food comes out too fast. We get our appetizer and then our main comes out very quickly after. The kids pizza is also very small. It was a good size for my toddler but my 6 year old was still hungry after.

We got there 45 minutes before closing time. The staff was friendly and they never rushed us. Hubby had the ribeye and I had the shrimp. The meals came with two sides and rolls. Portions were great, food was hot, and everything was tasty. Then we shared the apple pie ala mode with rum sauce. Very yummy! If you go away hungry it’s your own fault.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. My wife and I had the chicken fried chicken which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The dish came with some of the best country gravy Ive ever had, top 3 for sure. There is a play scape out back that my daughter and friend really like. Inside seating and a patio overlooking a river. Ill definitely be back to try something new.

Stopped in for a late lunch and OMG!!!😍😍😍😍 the country fried steak was the absolute hands-down best I have ever had in my almost 50 years. The portions are Texas sized. I travel the country quite a bit and this place puts so many other Texas chain restaurants in their place- way down the list. The breading was crispy and flavorful. Just the right amount of pepper. The gravy-hot and creamy with a robust beef undercurrent. The red-skinner mashed were thick and flavorful- not bland a pasty. The rolls even were awesome. Service was amazing and prompt. The variety of salad dressings was huge.Don’t miss out on some super good food. Your tummy will thank you.I would post pics of the food but it smelled so good I didn’t take any before I dug in - so here is a pic of the cool decor.

We were on our way through and stopped for a bite. From the moment we walked in the atmosphere was welcoming, the staff was quick and attentive. A big plus was the food was quick to come out and everything was wonderful. We will be back here again.

Im not from Texas. This is the biggest chicken fried steak Ive ever seen! It was darned good to! Even though I took most of it home. Great homemade mashed to with awesome thick white gravy. Great place nice people and huge helpings for the price. The picture is after I took a few bites to.

Had a lovely experience here. Food was fresh, tried the award winning salsa; definitely worth trying. Also had the ground beef queso, & fried pickles, everything was great. Order the onion ribeye with the steamed broccoli and homemade broccoli cheese soup. Ordered a hurricane from the bar, it was tasty. Everyone here was friendly. Complementary hot rolls are a plus. This place is clearly worth trying. Enjoy.

Steak very overcooked...order med rare, got very well done. Rolls and baked sweet potato good. Salad a little limp. Server did ask about redoing the steak after she noticed it was overcooked, but we didnt have time (thats why 4 not 3 stars)

I’ve worked in Brownwood in the past and stop to eat here several times I’m back again this place hasn’t changed it’s awesome. Good food friendly atmosphere awesome people
