Monument to the influence of the Huguenots, who came to the area in the 1600s & 1700s.
Well looked after ❤️
Music festival,, relaxing,,, under the sun and views of the mountains
Start ot the Race to the Sea, great place to visit.
I feel the admission fee to the museum is a bit steep for locals
A cultural statue to see for the Africaner.
Beautiful Monument with loads of History behind it and set in a Beautiful Location❤🙏❤
Beautiful monument to view in Franschhoek. If you love history check this out. Highly recommended for families.
Historical Significance of South African French Huguenot Influence 🇫🇷
All the beauty this country has to offer.
The gates were locked so it wasnt possible to go view inside but the view from outside the gates was awsum!!
It is really cool a 4 km tunnel through the mountains....
It was difficult rating the Huguenot Monument Museum. I gave it a 5 because it presents the French history beautifully in what is a magnificent building. I was disappointed however that the history of the building had been sidelined to a n outside plaque. What was the biggest issue was that it was R100 per person for entry. (R500 for a family with 3 children). As a public museum it should be free. This needs to be revised as many people come to Franschoek with the main aim of seeing the Monument and Museum.
Spacious and free. It is the end of the town center but the beginning of all adventures. Best place for braais and picnics with the whole family or just that special someone
Best memories and beautiful
Geeat monument, gives you insight historical information about the French Huguenots from the early 17th century
Beautiful but unfortunately the gates were closed, so we could only view from the roadside
Great museum. We’ll set out and we learnt a lot about the Huguenots and their place inSA history.
This Memorial is in Franschhoek. One of the most beautiful and peaceful places in South Africa. Near Cape Town.
This is something you want to do if you have the time. It is one of the most interesting places to go
First time seeing this awesome monument
I just need to go back because when we arrived there,we were already late and the gate was already closed
Very nice and interesting day at the Huguenot Memorial.
Nice in Summer weather like today. Outdoor with plenty plealnty of space for different activities. Has another open space (parkacross. Accessible too with beautiful mountain views
Beautiful! Both me and my running partner have a French Huguenot ancestry, so it was a special experience finishing our Comrades Virtual Marathon 2021 at the Huguenot Monument.
Beautiful....gardens are well kept. While we stools outside as entrance still closed to public we googled and read all about the statue and all the symbolic representations around it. Very interesting part of history !!
Overall, Franschhoek is a stunningly beautiful town. Clean, buzzing with activities and extremely welcoming. Definitely a place worth visiting for a day trip or a weekend away. The Huguenot Memorial Monument is a sight to see. A ticket from the museum will give you access to the museum, the perfume museum and the monument. A must see when visiting Franschhoek.
My 1st visit. Loved it
Lovely informational museum and perfume museum, my friend and I visited the gardens before the closing time and arrived back at the gate to exit at 16h45 on Monday afternoon 22nd March the holiday to celebrate human rights day but the gates were locked and we could not exit the museum or gardens through the gates because the gates were locked and the staff did not check whether everyone that entered had exited before licking the gates. My friend and I who are in our 60s had to climb over the wall to exit the museum.
Weather was abit overcast & also we werent allowed in cos the gates were locked 🔒. Always an amazing site to visit the area.
Sadly closed on. Sunday 😔but if u looking for nice outdoor free picnic spot just off to right.. Great park with wide open space just enuf trees to have a shady midday picnic😁
We did a fun run with the Suzuki Club over the pass and stopped here for a break. Beautiful place.
Gorgeous monument rich with cultural heritage. Surrounded by scenic mountains and Franschoeks exquisite restaurants.
Entrance fee R80/person.A well looked after Museum showing how history can never be repeated, beautiful garden/monument to honour people who fought for their right
The monument hosts the Franschhoek Cap Classique and Champagne Festival. Most of the time this festival falls on the last Saturday of November till first Sunday in December.Once that first bottle pops, you know the festive season has officially started.
Thia is the best view from the center of Franschhoek! The montains around are so beautiful!
Hi, well its one of those Sunday lunch places, if you know what I mean.Relaxed, clean and most importantly,, friendly. This is one of the highest rating Ive ever given any place.Enjoy!
Amazing place to go to for a Sunday afternoon drive. So much to see and so much to do. Art gallerys, shops and restaurants galore. All I can give is my opinion of what I experienced and I had a great one. All of this to see in Franschhoek.
Beautiful place but now you have to pay to visit what was free
A very Interesting historical visit.. worth a visit also to the museum...in Franschhoek
A beautiful historical monument with a picturesque mountain as a backdrop. Unfortunately the limited opening hours restricts entry to scores of visitors who always descend on Franschoek.
Great place to explore & have a picnic. The benches under the monument are covered so there is shade, & the lawns are huge so kids love stretching their legs. While you are there, pop into the museums (though it might get be best to skip the perfume museum if you have small or energetic kids, or a sensitive nose.
A serene spot that caps off Franschhoeks main road in the quaint downtown. Entry to the memorial is paid, so many folks just enjoy the views from the free side.
An historical place, very peaceful and lovely.
Great place to learn about your heritage and forefathers!Well maintained, clean and neat.Tickets arent very expensive and service is prompt and friendly.Fun day out for families and even couples.Definitely go check it out, you will find at least some information on where your family came from.
I found this very interesting. There was a great deal of influence from french Huguenots here, more than I would have thought and a lot of focus on this as well.
Wonderful friendly staff, neat and well organised. Video is a must.
Had an amazing time reconnecting with our history at the French Huguenot Museum and Memorialin Fransschoek. Quite insightful and an added year by year historic display that affected the French Huguenots. Entree Fee affordable to all
Nice surroundings and a small museum and a park
Friendly staff. Beautiful monument. Great history.
What a peaceful and tranquil environment! The amount of energy around here is amazing :)
