Hubcap Grill - Galveston - Hamburger restaurant in Galveston, United States
Nice place. The staff are very friendly. They are doing the scan a QR code to get the menu and order at the bar. It seems to be less customer service focused and hurts tips but they really try to make up for it by being friendly. Food was average.
Wasnt bad. Bit pricey for what you get but I assume that has more to do with location so can be forgiven. And honestly wasnt much more than fast food these days. Only real complaint is everything was heavily salted. For reference I keep a bottle of Lawrys seasoning salt on me at all times because most places undersalt.I did not need my bottle at Hubcap.I did enjoy the art on the wall and the location is great. Looks like they have some inventive creative drinks, but I dont drink so cant comment other than that they lookes good.
Really cool vibe inside, but the bartender with the handle bar mustache had absolutely no personality and was not welcoming at all. I think the burger and fries couldve been great, but someone dumped the equivalent of an entire salt shaker on them. I love salt, but the amount of salt was insane!
Aaron and Autum were absolutely amazing hosts. Their sevice is top notch! Excellent food with an amazing craft beer selection. The atmosphere at the Hubcap Grill is eccentric with some amazing art on display. Highly recommend stopping by if youre ever in Galveston!
Well my cheese fries came out before my cheeseburger, so they were cold by the time my food came. Apparently they do this with all sides? I thought fries go with the burger. My burger was salty and the lettuce was turning brown. I was hungry and left hungry.
I would not recommend this restaurant to any one. They didnโt have the lavender margarita that I ordered so I ordered another drink. He poured the pre mixed drink from a large container. He then grabbed a lemon slice with his bare hand and placed it on the rim of my glass. This drink was $14.95. My daughters fries came out way before our burgers so the fries were cold when the burgers came. My burger was cold but I was afraid to say anything after he put my lemon on my drink glass without tongs or gloves because I was afraid of what might be done to my burger when out of my sight. A waste of my time and not worthy of the 20% tip.
Went to this place on Labor Day to have a meal and when we entered there was no one to greet us and upon approaching the bar the waiter hastily turned away and did not offer us a welcome or any type of service. The place was nearly full and there was no waitstaff or any service person. We immediately walked out and as I turned around, the bartender was glaring at us. We felt unwelcome as three black women walking into a public establishment to just have a meal. The place was cold and unfriendly, and even though I donโt how the food tastes, I WILL NEVER GO TO OR RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT! And I am an influencer and blogger and I will make sure my followers are aware of this restaurant.
Never had a chance to eat here before now. Loved it! Food was pretty expensive for what you got. Burger was tasty (peanut butter burger), but the drink (peach somethingwas very expensive for what it was. You order at the bar and they bring it to your table. Will probably go back.
Delicious food. They were shortstaffed so our server was doing 3 peoples jobs at once. Good thing he was awesome! Clean, lovely atmosphere, yummy food and kind employee (singularhaha
The menus are near the front door. Once you decide on your choice go over to the bar and order. The staff pass out samples of their interesting store made IPA or other tasty concoctions We enjoyed ourselves for lunch here.
Yummy Yummy. We were just looking for good food and found one of the best burgers ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐ผ.
Cute spot in The Strand. The burgers and fries were excellent. Lots of choices. Beer selection was vast. Service was lacking, but we eventually got our stuff.
The fried cheese curds are YUMMY! The burgers are pretty good too. They have a good selection of beers on tap served by a friendly staff. $5 cheeseburgers during happy hour.
We had an amazing dinner and service from Aaron, Jose and the team at Hubcap! Definitely check out their happy hour! Great drink specials and food deals and you canโt go wrong with any of the cocktails!
This place.. so the cook was awesome. Even with how busy it was on a Saturday night he went out of his way and put out decent food for my group. The two guys behind the bar were hardly helpful. Why have a skeleton crew on a Saturday night in such an area? Food was decent. Cook was great. Other guys sucked.
My day out with my daughter and her friends! Jose made our day here!! He was so fun entertaining knowledgeable fun! Definitely will always make this place a stop on the strand Great food drinks!
1st time here. Jose and javi and the bar were AMAZING. Great service from them both. The drinks were made with love! The sweet potato fries were so good as well. So if youโre ever in the area and stop by get with Jose and javi.
We have tried to go several times in the last few months and the place is either closed when it is supposed to be open or out of hamburgers. Last night they were out of chicken sandwiches. They never answer their phone. The wait was long and the customer service was horrible.I can not recommend it. There are plenty of other places to get a burger in Galveston.
Went yesterday for lunch a little after 1:00 P.M. Steady crowd which was nice to see. Biggest complaint ordered the jalapeno cheeseburger and the buns were cold like they just took them out of the wrapper and served. So didnt eat them just the "innards." Thought the jalapenos would be fresh but they were pickled. Guess you hafta ask for toasted buns?
Hubcap Grill is conveniently located on the Strand.....a laid-back, casual option for a wide array of tasty burgers, fries, onion rings, etc......and beverages. FYI-these are not fast-food like burgers ! They are huge ! At times, live music adds to the experience. And if youre a fan of hubcaps, there are many on the wall.
I understand beings too needy when it comes to customizing an order but the way they messed up my โburgerโ was unbelievable. I donโt understand the breakdowns in communication but they were major. I ended up with a plate of meat and lettuce only. After three attempts I was able to assemble my own burger from scratch. This felt almost intentional. I asked for two alterations total. No patty (because they are awfuland no cheese on my Philly.
I ate here last night and honestly it really wasnโt that good. Iโll start off positive and say that the meat itself was good, nothing too grand but itโs good. Service was good too, it was fast. However, the bun was really stale. I love bread but even I couldnโt eat more than a few bites of the bun because it was so stale. The onion rings were also very bland, it had no flavor at all so much so that the only thing I could really feel was the crunch. Everyone else who was eating with me agreed on this and also didnโt seem to like the fries they ordered. The restaurant itself was also dirty. Itโs also pretty pricy, which would be okay if the food was better. Overall sad to say but this is the first time Iโve ever been disappointed by a burger place.
Called to place a takeout order 2 hrs before closing. They didnt answer the phone.Went and ordered take out in person and they said it would be about 30 min. After 45 min they checked on my order and the bartender said they were in the middle of making it and it would 5 more minutes. One of the chefs literally danced his way out of the kitchen and brought out 2 more orders to tables that ordered after me. I left 20 min later.. surprised I waited that long.Should have just told me you hadnt gotten to my order yet 25 min after waiting.
Very Impressive food, the Tamolly Burger was soo Impressive. The BBQ Texas Burger as well! Best place we ate at while in Galveston!
Stopped in this past Saturday with my kids after being out in the heat to check out a Tall Ship that was in port at Pier 21. This is a seat yourself and order at the bar. We got just the basic cheeseburger and it was pretty tasty. My kids got mini corndogs and chicken strips which they devoured. The onion rings were delicious too. It is a small place right on the strand so it has that small historic feel to it. What I did like very much was that they had a water and ice station set up. It was great because of the heat and you serve yourself. All of the staff and the bartender were super nice. It was a busy place but everyone was great. Even though it is primarily a bar it was still suitable for my kiddos. I could see myself going back to have drinks and another bite to eat.
Went during Happy Hour. Drink was $.25 if you buy one of their signature burgers. Ordered the Greek burger. Told them no mayo due to allergies. Person taking order made sure to include very allergic. Kitchen ignored it and chose to put their signature sauce on it (which wasnt even part of the ingredient listand the sauce had mayo in it. 1st trip back to the kitchen. 2nd plate arrived. There was a bit of Mayo on the green pepper. Had I not seen it I could have died. Everyone else was almost finished so I just cut off the end of the burger near the mayo and ate from the other end. Not a great experience. French fries and fried mushrooms were phenomenal though. Chili cheese fries were good too. Everyone else LOVED their food. But be advised everything is ala carte so if you want fries you have to order them.
Never going back. There were maybe 8 other customers in there and it took about an hour to get our food. My wifes burger had a soggy wet bottom bun and the top was dry and the Burger was cold. My burger was burnt and together with the bun was dry as can be. Got our burger then was asked if the was anything else. Yes how about the rest of our food. We also had 4 sides one for each of us and had to wait and get them later after she had to double check our order. Cheese fries were not good, not sure what kind of cheese were on them but no thank you on that. Fried mushrooms were watery with every bite. Wasnt about to complain about the food and have to wait longer so not going back.
Poor service and food quality. After repeating my order to the worker three times, it still came out wrong. The burger patty was not even the size of half the bun, which was also very stale. They gave me a grilled cheese sandwich that I did not order. Fries were cold and soggy. Very Disappointing compared to the other locations
Usually a good place to eat. However, on this visit they were short staffed and it showed. Wait for food was longer than usual and when we got our burgers the buns were room temperature. I hate being critical to a place that usually delivers a good meal, but on this day they were off.
Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday. Ordered drinks and food. The drinks were forgotten and had to remind the bartender we ordered them, but everything was really delicious.I got the sticky burger which was amazing and the country fries (gravy was soooo good!)Definitely want to try some of the other specialty burgers on the menu
Not impressed. Got the bacon cheeseburger, ordered medium. It was drier than the Sahara. The bacon was blackened, though that wouldnt have been bad if the burger was juicy. Not a bad flavor, just way too dry and well-done.
This place was such a great surprise. Service was excellent and the food was decadent. I ordered the cheeseburger Cheeto burger and the hubs ordered a Philly cheesesteak burger. We got a side of Philly fries to share. Yes, it was a heart attack waiting to happen, but it was delicious. This location is notable for having a full bar an extensive cocktail list. The next time Im not leaving without a slice of Tiffany blue carrot cake.
Iโve lived in Galveston for a while and somehow never came here. A friend suggested it for lunch. Autumn was super friendly and helpful. The food was great and we will be back!
the burgers are so so good, i love the interior for the decor and the outside little table because Galveston is such a pretty place with this amazing old architecture. service was great and everything was clean considering it was during mardi gras parade, this will be my go-to whenever in Galveston!
I donโt know what happened to this place or if I remember it more fondly than it deserved but our burgers were really terrible. Dry meat patties and really dry weird buns. Cold cheese curds but the fries were really good. So disappointed. At $11 for just burger with no fries or drink included we shouldโve gotten better quality food. We had a plain cheeseburger, a sticky burger and a tamale burger.
Jason, our server, was extraordinarily friendly, and the food was exceptionally delicious. Our party had the Philly Cheesesteak Burger, Chili Cheeseburger, and BLT Ranch Burger. No one was disappointed, and there were no leftovers. Their sweet potato fries are better than the regular fries. We had to try the pink champagne cake. It was ok. We would definitely go back for burgers when in Galveston.
Excellent food, excellent beer, excellent service, Jason was a wonderful host. Really enjoyed our visit with Jason. We did the lunch special for restaurant week, Philly cheese steak burger with fries and it was awesome. You got to have their lavender beer. Were definitely going to be coming back to the Hubcap Grill.
Jason was a phenomenal bartender very knowledgeable of product and the history behind it. Great atmosphere and Jim made me one hell of a cheeseburger. Good food great drinks. This is a must if you visit Galveston.
Man this place is AMAZING!! Jason, Casey and the rest of the staff were awesome!! They were very accommodating and the food was great as well as the drinks!! Coming from Oklahoma City , we were made to feel as if we were at home!! We will definitely be back!
The staff is phenomenal, the experience and atmosphere alone are worth coming back. The food though ๐คค not a hungry tummy left, happy kids all around. Make sure to check out the amazing artwork.
Took a friend in to try the burger again. Fries were hot and cooked perfectly! Bun was toasted lightly on the outside but soft on the inside. My bacon was cooked as requested. The only thing off was my burger was not cooked to temp. Casey was his usual friendly self.
The best burgers on Galveston by far! The sticky monkey burger was delicious and made a friend while visiting. This beautiful diva can sing OMG had a blast! Thank you Hubcap! We come every time we visit and always will!
Cheeseburger at the Hubcap Grill today in the Strand. Prepared ALL the way with grilled onions subed for raw. Nice bun! Tasty beef! Fresh veggies! Definitely worth going back to explore more of the menu.My server Autumn was friendly and knowledgeable.Recommended!
I ate at this place last week. I was traveling by myself, but I will bring my kids next time. The Philly Cheesesteak burger was excellent, and the host (Frank?took great care in making my Old Fashioned cocktail. Updated 2021- Still fantastic, and you definitely need to spend some time talking to your bartender about your bourbon. Im thrilled they survived the pandemic!
First off id love to say their burger selection is amazing and 2nd off everyone super nice but 3rd off we brought our dog out to eat for the first time and they brought my doggy out some water for him without us having to ask it was super super sweet. I highly recommend them!!
Loved this Place. The owners really care about the business. The food was perfect also so many amazing beers on draft to try. Nice and quiet relaxing bar. Perfect place to relax have a few drinks if you drop your dog off at the groomer next door.
Somehow landed in here on a Saturday night and glad we did! This place has some good vibes. The ambiance is pretty cool and casual, there was live music playing (a good one at thatand a full bar to order from. What more can you ask for? Oh, food - right? Well, youre in luck.We ordered a classic cheeseburger with fries which was delish (and no I wasnt tipsyand if you like to walk on the wild side sometimes, like I do, you HAVE to order you some Hell Fries!Well be back for sure!
Nice ambience, and staff. We went on a not so busy Wednesday afternoon with 2 small kids and felt comfortable. The food was great as well. The fries and onion rings were ๐ค๐ค๐ค delicious! I ordered the regular cheese burger with fries and my son had the grilled cheese. We will definitely be back
Great first experience. We had a Guacamole Swiss and a Hatch Chile burger. Both were excellent and cooked to a nice medium. The decor is very interesting and fun. Im already planning which burger to get on my next visit. Thanks!!
