Huaca Pucllana in Callao

Its cool to see a pre-inka temple still standing. Very cool to see a different technology (different from how the Ink as solved itused to combat the intense earthquakes Peru was facing at the time. You do need a reservation to get in, so plan ahead...though we just went to the gate and made an appt in person.

A very fascinating view of life here so long ago.

With only 2 days in Lima I asked friends for a short “must see list” and this is #1. If you like history and want a 1-hour crash course on Lima, put this on your list.

Make sure to make a reservation at least 1 day before your visit if not you wont be able to get in. A tour guide comes with the ticket and some fun fact (S/15 Adults and S/7.50 students). It was approximately an hour long tour.

Couldnt register on-line, and as soon as I sent them an email, they replied. We were booked for an English tour the following day. The tour lasts an hour which is a perfect time frame to keep any kid entertained. The guide spoke perfect English and the tour was quite fascinating. Absolutely worth it!

Just stumbled about this while exploring Miraflores. I wish we could have gotten save day tickets to go in and explore. Make sure to book in advance. Even online, can’t get same day tickets.

Just jaw-dropping amazing to find a pre-Inca pyramid so close to the center of the city.Hand built with clay bricks in a structure designed to be earthquake proof. The archaeologists have done a great job in displaying the site in as close to how it would have looked hundreds of years ago.The small museum in site is very informative

Very interesting tour of this archeological site that is still in progress. The tour guide was informative. Doesnt take that long but recommends making reservations online or like us just so up and if there is space they will add you.

Lima is an amazing city with so much history, that rivals and in my opinion surpasses most other European cities that I have visited. It is amazing the history buried underneath the city.

Very fascinating archeological site. Guide was really great. Site only 60% uncovered. Used to be used by people for motorbikes before they realized it was an archeological site. The tour is about an hour. The restaurant workers that are hogging up all of the parking spaces are pretty rude. There is nowhere to sit while you are waiting for your tour to start so plan accordingly if you are on foot. I walked to a nearby park and waited for one of the benches to open. Tip your guide at the end!

The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours with a tour guide who will explain the history of the site and the people who inhabited in it to the group. Our guide was very attentive and answered any and all questions we threw her way. I certainly recommend this tour for anyone staying a couple of days in Lima.Entrance is inexpensive (less than $20 soles from what I remember, and kids & elderly have steep discounts). You must make reservations in the website and pay via cash or card at the site.Take comfortable and closed-toe shoes and a mask.*yes, there are Llamas and Alpacas but you cannot touch them *

Stopped here looking for something to do since it was close to our hotel. Learned a lot. It was soooo much bigger once inside than I realized. On top of the site, they also have some plants and animals. Would recommend as a first stop when getting to Peru instead of last like we did since some of the info is introductory to Peru.

Really nice site and complete presentation. The lady at the entrance told us that we needed to book the visit 24hrs in advance, but she was able to put us in the next visit that was starting 5mins after our arrival. Visits start at each hour.

Great archeological site in the middle of Miraflores, Lima. Worth visiting.

It was absolutely fascinating!! We got there after hours so we didn’t get to go to the museum or do the tour, but it was still breathtaking to walk around the perimeter!!

It’s a very nice historical site in Lima. I didn’t book the ticket in advance, but I got my ticket within minutes on a weekday. They also have a restaurant on the site, but I didn’t really go there. Overall, I would recommend visitors to budget ~1 hour to walk around the site.

Fascinating ruins from some of the first pre-colonial inhabitants of Lima. Formed mud bricks (air driedhave lasted for centuries. A great baseline for the start of a history tour of Lima!

We weren’t able to enter because we found out about this park too late in the day. We happened upon it in a cab ride back to Miraflores from Plaza de Armas and decided to take an evening stroll to check it out. I only wish I could have gone in and had dinner at the nearby restaurant!

4 stars, because you have to make an appointment to enter the museum the day before. There must be a better organization and allow tourists to enter without reservations. Place is amazing, the guides are proffesionals and kinds.

Its an interesting site. The tour lady was nice and tried to inform us of everything - however very little seems to be known about this site.Make sure you book in advance - they wont let you in the gate without a reservation.

You need to have booked at least 24 hours in advance online to enter or need to have a certified guide that gets you thru without this requirement

It was a good experience, I took my wife to visit together this citadel and she was thrilled learning little more about Limas Inca, preinca ancient culture and civilization.

Underrated gem. They want you to make a reservation the day before and join a guided tour group. You can usually join an existing group. The guides are nice, but the pace of info was on the slower side. The small museum with relics inside is astronomical. Its a must see if youre in Lima.

Worthwhile to visit. I observed it from the restaurant that overlooks it as it was closed that day. Didnt matter a bit and i would go back to enter and rake a tour but suiting next to the ruins have cocktails spending time with friends near this site allowed me to soak in lots of visual information. Its an extensive site and impressive.

Thanks to the tour guide, this was probably one of the most interesting places of our visit to Peru.Book tickets in advance, the tour takes about an hour and you will learn all about this interesting structure and the people who lived there, including why the bricks are placed vertically instead of horizontally. There are plenty of opportunities for photos and the views are great.Theres a little waiting area inside the gate with access to a toilet if youre early or you can visit the cafe outside the gate if you want.Do not leave this place off your trip to Peru.

Very interesting museum from the pre-inca times, with a great english speaking tour-guide and many interesting stories. You can find here locally grown plants and there are cute lamas and gunea pigs also. By the entrance of the museum there is Huaca fine-dining restaurant you cantt miss. The place is very athmospheric and stylish, they have many specialities and everything was so delicious. While eating you can watch the adobe piramides and the archelological site. Nice afternoon program.

The staff here was friendly. You can only walk through the site with a tour guide book a day in advance. I went the same day without knowledge of booking a day in advance and they were able to fit me in a English tour. Tour takes a 1 hour very cool with it being in the middle of the city.

Great ruins and history the restaurant not so much probably the worst service I had while I was in Peru.

This is a unique ruin located within the city of Lima. Layers of hand made adobe bricks form multiple platforms on which rituals were performed. There is a lovely restaurant with excellent meals on site, overlooking the ruins.

It is a pre-inca pyramid, seems very nice to do the tour, but you should book in advance! Since I had not booked the tour and there was no more space for that day, the lady was very kind and allowed me to go inside part of the area to have a better view!

I thought the location was amazing, but then we got the food. A modern twist on somewhat traditional Peruvian food. My favorite were the ceviche takitos and shrimp in sweet sauce with fresh avocado. They make a good pisco sour as well. And it was not at all expensive! Insane!

Nice to watch, but I wouldnt have needed a tour. (but without a tour you cant get inIt lasts 1h, price was 15 soles, and you have to reserve for a tour in advance.In retrospect for me it would have been enough, to see the building from outside and read all the information on the internet. Our guide also didnt seem very motivated.

Cool place. Worth a visit! You should book in advance. We dont and had to wait for over an hour.. but it was worth it.Recommended to see.

Reservations required but easy to get. Same day possible. Walking tour. Expect to walk quite a bit on dirt, uneven surfaces, and up steep grades but easy to do. Well worth it for the view. Not ADA though. Very friendly tour guide. They have live alpaca and Llama in the flora and fauna section. Very educational tour. Took approximately 30 minutes. We walked from Larcomar and it took us around 40 minutes walking at a good pace. Taxis available outside. Busy restaurant on the property as well. Restrooms available. A few souvenirs available as well.

Very well organized. The guide was deeply knowledgeable not only about Pucllana but about its relationship to others of Perus ancient culture. I highly recommend a visit.

This huge adobe pyramid complex is very old and historic. Mummies and evidence of human sacrifice has been found. The site is still being restored and studied. The tour takes about an hour and a small museum is available to visit before or after your tour. Cost is minimal.

This ruins are just in Miraflores. You have to book online and you have to do the visit with a guided tour. 15 soles entrance fee for adults (not nationals).I enjoyed the tour and the guide was super nice and gave us some interesting insights.

Definitely recommend visiting this spot. The guided tour was awesome (available in Spanish and English). What an interesting spot in the middle of the city!

This place was closed when we went there. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays. Covid restrictions also means more closures. Watch out. This is a very interesting place from what I saw and read on an exhibit on Miraflores!

Absolutely fascinating site only a 20 minute walk from Parque JFK. Tours are offered in both English and Spanish and reservations must be made in advance online. Entry was 15 soles. Guide was fantastic and spoke excellent English. She was very knowledgeable and able to answer any questions I had. Youve got to check this site out if youre going to be in Lima - its so easy to get to and absolutely fascinating. Being from 400AD I realized this is the oldest human structure Ive ever been able to see and touch! I loved the tour and highly recommend it!

Big historical structure from 200-700AD. Its is really old and is in the middle of the city. Although not as spectacular as say the Acropolis in Athens, it is still worth a visit. Need to book online and there are small tour groups only, some in English.

A very good pre historic site for getting a glimpse of Peruvian culture. The museum offers guided tours that can be availed on the spot. There are two tours one in English and other in Spanish, both tours alternate each other, they are about 45 min long. The guide takes you through the site’s history, the human sacrifices that have taken place there, that also have live animals to show the tourists. Some life size exhibits of the Peruvian people are also on display at the site.A good introduction to Peruvian culture.

An archaeological site among the modern buildings in the city. The entrance fee is s/15 for foreign visitors. A guided tour is provided for every one. During the daytime you can climb onto the top of the pyramid however during the evening it is forbidden to go up. There is also a mini zoo and a mini botanic garden inside the site and the guide will provide you with profound explanation about local animals and plants.

I found an unofficial guide close to the entrance and bargained for the guidance price, but I didnt know that the guide is included in the price so be careful. Ended up paying 30 soles for the whole thing, however, it was 1 on 1 so I had a pleasant conversation with the guide. If youre going with kids theres a mini zoo with alpacas, guinea pigs and ducks at the back, which could be fun for them.

Great historical site in the heart of Miraflores! Chores happen every hour and both Spanish and English and you just tip the tour guide at your own discretion. Lovely restaurant on-site. You can sit right in front of the archaeological dig and enjoy a nice meal.
