Archeological site with an ancient pyramid & a museum highlighting funeral rituals & mummies.
Huaca Huallamarca in Callao
Description
Privilege
Small, cheap, worth a trip to see. It has an interesting history that started around 200 BC. Bathrooms open at 11 am?
Morehelpful staff, underwhelming site
Felt like I was standing on a mud hill... we were literally the only visitors there, not worth it if you short on time
MoreSimple, good, inexpensiveThe museum, the pyramid and the staff are great, nice half hour stop in San Isidro
MoreSmall site..smaller museum..none of mummies on display…
This is a nice place to see a historical site of Peru without traveling far out of Lima. I visited here during a weekday, and there were not many people here. It’s a small site that budgeting one hour should be more than enough to finish walking around and taking some good photos.
MoreNothing to do and it’s not the original building it’s all rebuilt.
Beautiful smaller Huaca but closed until July 11th, 2022 due to Covid
To walk on and amoungst ancient history like this is surreal, do yourself a favor and visit this breathtaking wonder when you visit Lima. You can take as little or as much time here as you need, our group was here for about an hour and a half and we felt like that was perfect for us, plus we visited the little museum by the entrance that has a few neat little excavated pieces from the general area. Informational plaques are scattered around the site in both Spanish and English. You are not allowed to take water with you because water is damaging to this site, being made of mud and all. A word of warning: Be VERY careful when walking up to the top of the pyramid and especially coming back down; the path is very sleek and one could slip very easily, and theres not much for handrails.
MoreOpen Tuesday to Saturday, 9 AM to 5PM. 5 soles per person. Very nice English guide! I enjoy my time here. Recommend!
MoreThe history and heritage here just is mind blowing! Right in the heart of San Isidro sits an archeological gem. If in Miraflores, visiting here is a must!
MoreGet here! It such an experience. You feel elevated with every step and the wind and the view come into play. I want to do all over again as soon as I can, it was such a movie moment
MoreIts a great place to walk around and take pictures. Its an actual pyramid. You have to take a guided tours and they explained that back in the day, people use to ride bikes here. You can learn about the history of it. There is a restaurant right next to it. You can eat and relax after the tour. The ocean is within walking distance from here.
MoreWonderful tour guide (spoke English).
If you stay at San Isidro, here is with walking distance. It’s a calm and quiet place. Around 30 minutes is enough to see.
MoreGood quick little stop. Spent maybe 30 minutes here. Loved seeing the pyramid in the middle of the city.
MoreOPEN. This Pre-Inca structure looks closed but there is a security man waiting behind a closed door that is more than willing to let you in if you ask. Had the entire place to myself & payed only 3 Soles due to being a student.
MoreIts closed so had to see from outside.
Dont go at 9:00 am (9:30 is more suitablebecause they dont have a sense of punctuality. Is a nice place but the pyramid is not open.
Moregreat place to tour nice workers they even told me about other places I can visit locally
MoreOne of the must visit archaeological sites of Lima, as one of the oldest too.
Very nice place un the middle of the city in a nice spot.
One of the few archeologycal places inside Lima. Located in the heart of the uptown neighbor of San Isidro, its ideal for a quik visit
MoreBeautiful and filled with so much history! And there is a great view from the top of the pyramid 😉😙
MoreNot too much to see. The staff speaks good English, good wifi and very clean toilet.
MoreSmall but it have a lot of history there and it’s just five soles the admittance. Recommend it, can see the hole place in less than half an hour.
MoreShort visit, can be done in 30min or less but always good if you like learning about history
MoreNice archeological site. Smaller than Huaca Pucllana but still very interesting. Nice views from the top.
MoreMy first archeological site visit in Peru, is a small site but the the pyramid contrast with the surrounding city is mesmerizing
MoreGreat site. Too bad theres no tour, or aerial photos you can buy.
Interesting ruins. Nice museum. Small site, good view from the top.
Great historic value & enjoyed the the info Its not very busy & You will not be there long as its quite small Worth checking out if your looking for something to do Easy walk to get there !!!
MoreTheres no much to see. Only one pyramid without murals or any other ornament. I felt disappointed :(
MoreVery interesting place!!! Amazing view from the top!!!! Totally worth the visit
Beautiful place, too sad some people do not aprecheate this historic passage
It‘s actually totally different from how it originally was...
I was a bit disappointed to find out they basically reconstructed the whole thing. The museum was under maintenance construction when I visited, and the temporary one was only very small. However, the view of the surrounding city on top of the pyramid is quite surreal.
MoreThis is a great reconstruction of the pyramid. They accept US cash and no credit or debit cards. Great view at the top.
MoreVery interesting history, beautifully maintained.
It is a nice small archaeological site that was preserved from the construction industry greediness who wanted to destroy all of it in order to raise a building
MoreVery short visit in the schedule for this incredible Huaca. You pay for the museum (one roomand pyramid walk with a great view of the city.It is not expensive so it worth!
Moreit was the first archeological remain to be studied professionally and build a museum with the artifacts found there; interesting that it is in the middle of a residential area which speaks well of the culture and education of the area
MoreAlthough it lacks of a guide, it is a huge like pyramid structure, it is more amazing when you realize it is made with Adobe (a brick made of mud). It has a really tiny site museum, and the entrance fee is really cheap
MoreThe place is right in the Middle of the City and offers a very nice view of the city and of the huaca itself. It is also an interesting place to learn about funeral rituals and momification. The little museum that is next to it offers a quite amazing set of artifacts including a 1600 years mummy! It is reccommended to visit if you are passing by, it won´t take more than half an hour.
MoreReconstructed pyramid in the middle of Lima... You have to wonder if this ancient structure was any different a millennia ago, but this rebuilt archeological tower spans a very fashionable and upscale area, and is a delight to visit and climb up to see the surrounding city.
MoreGreat site at San Isidro
Great archeological site of the Lima culture. Not enough info at the site.
Really worth a visit. Surprised there werent more people around.
There arent any guided tours but the site is compact and well laid out. Unlike Huaca Pucllana this site is quite well preserved as the Incas used it after it was built by the Lima people. The attached museum has some lovely specimens. At only 5 soles its a bargin
MoreNot as impressive as Huaca Pucllana, but still a nice place to see if you have extra time while in Lima. Its a nice oasis among all the new high rise buildings, and you can get a real un-spoiled look into the Huaca and learn about the time period in which it was built
