HuHot Mongolian Grill in Iowa City

I loved the ambience and food....find it little expensive.

Food was horrible. Very greasy crab Rangoons. Food wasnt fresh

The food quality was poor at best, the things on the line were old and wilted. The food wasnt cooked well on the grill. The krab ragoons tasted awful and seemed to have been cooked in old oil were dark and yucky. The manager said all she could do was comp the ragoons and the rest we were just out of luck. Honestly would not waste your money.

Our food was severely burnt everytime. It was often forgotten about on the grill and not cooked properly.

Excellent place to make your own style of foods and, all you can handle.

This Hu Hot is so much better than the one in Cedar Rapids! It’s cleaner, the food is fresher and seems to be in better condition, like new. Both locations have good service. I will eat here again when I’m in the area.

It was my first time ever to a place that cooks your food like that! It was an exciting and delicious experience!!

After not eating here for awhile (covid kept me away), I was pleased that the service was great and the food was as good as ever! Thank you for a great time!!

My first experience with Mongolian. Im sold for life. My grand daughter took me here while I was visiting from Arizona. It is such a great experience and the food is to die for! A+++

Fantastic food with a unique experience! You make your own dish, then they cook it in front of you on a huge grill in the center of the restauraunt. It is all-you-care-to-eat.

Typically an amazing place to hit. Every so often you gotta watch the bill to make sure something dosent sneak on there. Food is always great and the folks on the grill do an amazing job.

Normally I would give a five star rating because the food and service when you dine in is amazing. One of my favorite restaurants to eat at. However over the last year Ive not been able to place any kind of online order without it being cancelled or being told that they arent taking online orders without any explanation. They should bring that down on Google because Ive not been able to do either carryout or delivery at all no matter the hour or the day

We had a really great waitress, Autumn. She made our visit a real special occasion.

This place is great thanks to the chef. Stopped by and this guy does the work of three cooks!!! The food is good. Wait staff could use an upgrade in service, they took my empty glass and didnt bring another or ask if I wanted anything else to drink.....and then brought the bill.... disappointed in that move...tip the cook he at least earned it.

My friends and I planned for sushi but the restaurant was closed so we decided to eat HuHot. Definitely a great idea. One of my friends never ate there before and he loved it. Food was great. Service was excellent. Our waitress, Calista (Caliwas amazing and super helpful. We plan to come back soon.

Ive only been to 1 other Hohut and it was so busy it was frustrating. I went to this 1 as it was close to my hotel. 2pm was perfect, crowds were none existence and the food was wonderful. Went thru the line twice it was quick both times. I sat at the bar and the always had a full drink plenty of rice. Good value for lunch.

Im pleasantly impressed. Nice atmosphere aside from the butt numbing booth seats. The variety of meats vegetables and sauces is great! I do wish minced garlic was available. And a suggestion to consider is to make eggs available. Eggs add a whole different level of taste. All in all that was a great experience.

In the past, I would have given a 5 star.... This experience was horrible!!!!! No one at the podium,,,, Taking others ahead of your party with the same amount of people in yours.... Poor management!!!! Miss the old manager that was always helpful and didnt ignore you or other guests!!!!

Ive been to these places before, but never buffet style! So good! Ericka was great too! Our first time there, and she was so nice and patient explaining how it all works.

The food was good. After using various sauces, it seems difficult to not end up with a greasy result.

My favorite restaurant when it comes to build/make your own meals.Using a variety of items to choose from buffet style. From meat, vegetables, sauces and oils.Cooked in front of me, with a few different toppings to top it off. And really appreciate the disposal chop sticks to enjoy my meal with instead of the fork provided.

It use to be a nice place to eat. Its been a while since we ate here. Tonight had an atmosphere of a family reunion at trailer park. Very low class.

Love how I ordered HuHot a day in advance for a scheduled pickup via UberEats just be told, last minute ofcourse, that my order was canceled.Would of LOVED to eaten HuHot if I ever can :Thanks a lot.

Beef was freezer burnt and tasted like beef jerky. When I told the manager was told if I didnt like it to eat something different. Got my buffet taken off the bill and an hour later my daughter throws up everything and has been puking since. She ate the pork which is what i was told to eat or the chicken! Never again!

Great place, very clean, organized, friendly, solid food, fun to go to and affordable. Lots of choices and good parking.

Excellent food and the cooks did a great job at keeping everyone moving through despite being busy on a Monday night. (That tells you its good right thereThe selection of meats, veggies, and sauces are wonderful. They also have ring sausage and red potatoes so literally anyone can find something.Very clean as well!

Love that you pick everything and how much of each thing you want in your dish. The waitress I had was awesome. Great customer service all around!

Was at Huhots on Wednesday August 4th for dinner. We had Erica as our server and I have to say SHE IS AWESOME!! Great personality. She made you feel like you had been friends forever. Great service and always with a smile!!! She Deserves a RAISE!!! food was great as always!! 🙂

This is one of my favorite chefs. He always smiles at people, cooks efficiently, and adds water to the food at the right time so that the food will taste great.

Good, clean HuHot. Not packed, got seated right away. Guy on the grill was awesome. Waiter did a great job. He kept the soda coming. Great spot for some lunch.

Pretty good food. I enjoyed watching how quickly they work. I understand that sorta work environment so I understand the staff can be busy, but it wouldnt hurt to engage with the customer a bit more though. But overall a pleasant experience.

Food was wonderful as usual. My son had one complaint, there wasnt any mandarin oranges, but otherwise he was satisfied as well. Precautions were put in place for everyones safety and they didnt takeaway from the atmosphere we enjoy.

The food here is absolutely great and I love the service. The employees are super nice and helpful. They want you to have the best experience here.The place is very clean. And well sanitizedI recommend people here to enjoy HuHot best foods and bring the family.

This place is ALWAYS a family gathering spot. Best buffet Ive ever been to (and yes Ive been to pizza ranch). Always interesting to watch the "grill warriors" in their prime. I personally get pork with crab and coconut both noodles work very well for it!!!! Highly recommended.

Food is good for a buffet type place. Recommend grabbing 2 bowls and putting noodles and meat in one and veggies in the other. Add sauce to each and use a lot more sauce than you think you need. Definitely one of my favorite stir fry type places to go now around here.

The service was fantastic as always however the food selection is poor. I understand that during the day and week you do t put a lot of variety out. However I have been to many HuHot Locations and on the weekend and at night they have shrimp, eggs and other toppings for the bowl. I just feel this location is pretty cheap and the variety of items are the bare essentials. This location needs to step it up.

I have nothing bad to say about this inviting, amazing place. I have never been to a Mongolian buffet where you build your own meal for them to cook it in front of you. The staff were always on top of things, refilling drinks, and quick to help you at your convenience. I would honestly come back and spend 100$+ again. It is worth it....just be cautious about what sauce you put on your food I accidentally made my first bowl super spicy... but boy it was good

I love huhot. Never a bad experience. Food cooking is fun to watch. The staff is great. Highly recommended. We love this place every time we go. So many choices and combinations. Hot or not there is something for you and the entire family. After going to huhot for many years I can say we have still never been let down. Today we ordered our first dessert and it was amazing just like the rest of the food

Food was fine, service was fine. I took a peak into the kitchen though when the doors were swinging open and it looked really messy. The sauce station was pretty gross too. Just makes a person wonder how clean the food prep areas are when you see stuff like that. There was also an odd smell in the hallway leading to the restrooms. Smelled like something had been wet, sorta like an old basement.

This time it was a good experience but the server wasn’t friendly sounded bit rude.The options & sauces are good!Earlier have had bad experience at huhot. We had chicken in our bowl and when we got the final dish it had other meat in it I went second time and it happened again.It is very disappointing because even when you tell the chef to take care of it the mistake repeatedly happened.

Unique and Nice Dining ExperienceWe were passing through the area, and were looking for Chinese. Although this isnt the usual restaurant, it fit our bill for the evening.The selection is a good size. You pick out what you want, and how much. (Beef, pork, fish, chicken, and vegetarian are all possible combinations.). Then, take you meal to the grill-pit to be cooked. In a few minutes, the "grill warriors" will return your meal selection to you. Additional toppings (nuts, seeds, noodles, ...are available after that grilling.A unique, all-you-can-eat dining experience.There is ample parking.The restaurant is handicapped friendly.

1st of all we went on my birthday ^-^ I guess I had the same birthday as the manager so I got a free dessert I dont think its a regular thing but it was so nice of them ^-^ we got the smores and it was an all around good thing , we all had fun fast great food ^-^

This place is where you need to go if you like variety and fullness. You get served a bowl of rice and unlimited opportunities. Make sure to go on an empty stomach​.
