Min Kun, Myanmar (Burma), Sagaing
Large 19th-century Buddhist pagoda with a white–painted exterior modeled on a legendary mountain.
Beautiful pagoda with a mesmerising waveform.Entry is free for anyone. It takes approximately 1hr 15mins to get here by car from Mandalay downtown. We were quoted 120,000K for two way saloon car transport by our hotel, but managed to find someone who did it for 50,000K.Youd want to do this together with the nearby attractions such as the Mingun Bell. Our driver dropped us off at the pagoda, and we spent 1.5hrs enjoying it and strolling back down while seeing the bell, two lions and browsing some stalls along the way.Definitely worth the short trip out from the city.If you ever do a self drive, be careful as roads are small and flanked by homes. Our driver nearly hit a young girl who carelessly and very suddenly ran across the road!
Beautiful pagoda in Mingun.
It must be considered as a white jewel of Upper Myanmar💎.The design of the pagoda is also the most beautiful I have ever seen...must-visit place if you are visiting Myanmar 🇲🇲.
Very good view for photography
Most parts of Myanmar formerly known as Burma are still highly conservative.I loved a lot of things about this country. It’s super laid back, which meant my introverted self flourished. Mandalay oozes with kindness, respect, love and humility from the Burmese people.I made friends with a local, Pyae, who also ended up being my tour guide for a few days.Pyae and I got along very well and sometimes ended up in heated debates about the different societies we come from. He asked distasteful but genuine questions. His questions irked me at first then I realized that stories about South Africa, the African continent and liberal women haven’t reached all corners of the world. The obvious thing to do at this rate would be to confront or right him off due to his apparent ignorance or extreme lack of knowledge about the world he lives in. I quickly zoned into my meditative state and decided to educate him about where I come from. My country, continent, freedom of choice and speech we have as women.I could’ve easily wasted my energy on anger and resentment, instead I opted for patience and love.We all have a great deal of knowledge and wisdom to share as humanity. Direct your energy to the right channel and recreate your world✨
It is a very magnificent pagoda, and the whole pagoda is whitewashed
Such a beautiful Pagoda! Youll have to pay 5,000 to got in.

Quick tip: the best pic comes from not the main entrance but a few clicks to the left, at one of the side entrances. There’s some local kids here, trained very well to take all the best pics at this astonishing site. They enjoy clicking you and advise on where how to pose, it’s fun :they dint expect any tip, but a meagre act of gratitude would do.Now make the climb, there’s a big platform at the top level, worth circumventing, and spending some time. There’s no entry ticket again, I mean there is no pass, no one checks, incase someone does, just buy on the spot, but I didn’t spot any checker and didn’t even find a ticket window. How to reach: take the yangon ferry cheap and good frequency, it’s a 5 min walk from the ferry point. The route via road is long, bumpy, not a good idea to self-drive/ride, we took a cab because i was terribly under the weather.Done with the visit, head to the garden cafe, dine besides the river, it’s beautiful, but you would need time and patience they are a wee bit too slow
About an hour out of Mandalay definitely worth the trip, also check out the rest of the town and ring the bell.
A bit far from Mandalay, but definitely worth visiting. You can create plenty Insta-worthy pictures, and you can ask help from the kids that are so tech savvy to take beautiful pics for you. Dont forget to tip them afterwards =)
Very nice pagoda with white wash structure. Be mindful to take off shoes including socks.
Also known as Hsinbyume Pagoda or the white pagoda. Definitely a photogenic temple. Make sure you climb up the stairs up to the top, snap some nice pictures along the side walk ways and also the mandatory picture at the wavelike white stones built externally encircling the temple. Local people there will be willing to help to snap pictures for some small tips. This spot will satisfy your Instagram aspiration.Instagram: theroytravels
Mya Thein Tan is a distinctive whitewashed pagoda that was built in the early nineteenth century to honor the memory of a princess who had died during childbirth. Its architecture differs from that of many pagodas in Myanmar. Rising gradually in seven levels, it evokes the shape and form of a mythical mountain pagoda. Go around the building to get a feel of its circular shape. Climb up the 7 levels to get various perspectives and angles that will delight and satisfy your photographic aspirations.
The Mya Thein Tan Pagoda is the Instagram pagoda. However, there is interesting history behind it. It is hard to deny that you can get some pretty great photos there.
A completely white temple on the bank of the Irrawaddy river. It is a different design I never see before. on the upper floor you can see far view of different directions. I like to see this again.
This is not your ordinary golden pagoda but a shining white beacon in the sun.The various walkways and stairs up and around make it more playful and ideal for photo shoots.
Go early before it gets too hot. If you want Instagram photos then hire the little kids who charge 5000k to shoot your best angle.
Hsinbyume Pagoda (White Pagodaare located in Mingun province (1,5 hours riding from Mandalay to Mingun). Entrance fee 50000 Kyat/person. too hot when I arrived there (abt 1 PM), better go there in the morning / evening. You can borrow an ethnic umbrela for your photo property. Many local people offering to take photo with some fees.
One of the main attractions and a must see and cannot be missed, the panoramic view from the top of the temple is awesome though the hot sun can get to you .
Its unique and pure.I took 1 star away for cleaning as its definately needed more that it is. Also, to prevent a crowd at the main entrance it could be useful to put signs to other entrances
Really nice, go early morning if you dont want to visit it with thousand tourists around
Must see place in Min Gun. Beautiful and amazing ancient art can be seen. You can also take great photos with your phone by local professional kid cameramen there. Just give them small tips.
Best scenic place in Mandalay. A bit tiring to reach but totally worth it. Do visit If you love photography.
Little bit far from Center of Mandalay. But it is worth to come here, beautiful place. Nice view from the top, many amazing spot for nice photo
Very hot if you came at noon😰😫 but the Pagoda is very complicated. Very beautiful location.
Very lovely place, must go and visit when you are at Mandalay, not too far. Located at satgaing.
To me, this is the most interesting and beautiful pagoda at Mingun. White colored pagoda with unique but similar designs.
Beautiful bright shining white temple. Totally Instagrammable or prefererably perfect to enjoy some peace and quiet time. Just like a white waved sea.
Super hot and my feet feel like about to burn since need to left shoes outside. The place is so beautiful. Its worth it.Bring Umbrella and lot of water.dont wear black clothes on very hot day
Sooo beautiful! Take this IG pic 😉It was FREE when I went.*Bring sunglasses 😎 as all that white blinds you!
What a lovely place... You need to see this one. Because it is white it takes a on itself a colour of the surroundings. So when I was there, it was pink, just like the sunset.
We went at the end of season ( Mayand to be honest the place looks really tired and ready for a new coat of paint. The boat trip over and the brass bell were actually the highlight of the day for me. The hawkers are incessant and whilst we understand that it’s low season and they need to make a living, the constant harassment was wearing.
Nice pagoda - quite different from most other pagodas in Myanmar given its shape and also its color. I was told by a local guide that they put a fresh paint once a year to keep it that white.
Probably my favourite pagoda in northern Myanmar. When we arrived they charged us the tourist fee which was expected and then put a sticker on our tops. The place is stunning and I felt like I was the only one there until I went to the top and realised there were more people!
First Pagoda we visited since we set foot in Myanmar. Beautiful and peaceful place. Not too crowded and pretty well maintained. No shoes allowed. We packed plastic bags to keep our shoes in our backpacks. Dont like leaving our shoes unattended.
This is simply just a masterpiece of Myanmar people. I’ve never seen anything like this before in my life. Definitely a must see in Mandalay.
Beautiful pagoda in Mingun, a short walk from the famous pahtodawgyi. It is an impressive white-washed structure that stands out among the green landscape. It also offers impressive views of the Irrawaddy river below.
Such a beautiful place to visit there. The local kids have a excellence skill in photographing... 😍😍😍
One of the famous pagoda in Mingun. It can make all the visitors to be wonder when they see that pagoda. And also, can see the panoramic view of that Mingun village. Very nice place to go and visit.
This is one of the most beautiful pagoda around Mandalay. This place is pure white in colour and you have to walk up the stairs to reach the top of the pagoda. The view from the top is stunning and you can see the river, the unfinished pagoda and a lot of greenery around.Good half an hour can be spent at this place. If you need some picturesque shots, then try moving in between the white lanes.
This pagoda’s architecture is different than others which we makes it interesting to see. It’s all white with many stupas surrounding it. It’s my favourite of the three big sights in Min Kun and worth taking the ferry over for the morning.
A pagoda located on the northern side of Mingun and built in 1816 by Bagyidaw. The design of this particular pagoda departs largely from typical Burmese design. The seven terraces are said to represent the seven mountain ranges leading up to Mount Meru, the Buddhist mythological mountain. Like other sites in Mingun it was badly damaged in the 1836 earthquake, however was rebuilt to its previous glory in 1874 by King Mindon.
A huge temple in white color across the city of Mandalay. You can climb up to the top and overlook the river.
Beautiful pagoda, definitely worth seeing especially cause doesnt look like any other. Got there late afternoon (4/7pmand wasnt crowded at all. Nice view from the top.
All-white pagoda that offers decent views of the surrounding area. If you can get there before (or afterthe crowds, you can get some good shots. Otherwise you just end up with photos of strangers standing around not knowing what theyre doing or what theyre looking at.
Beautiful white temple very peaceful place you can enter and go up .. I you are lucky you will find boy and girls monk.
Beautiful structure made entirely of white bricks. Once inside, there’s a further climb of steep steps which takes you on top and give a good view of Min Kun. From there you can also see the Stupa and loads of greenery.
This Pagoda is the most beautiful pagoda in the Mandalay area and even Bagan. Other than Mingun, there is not much to see in Mandalay area. I would recommend just to visit the Hsinbyume and the unfinished pagodas and then head for Bagan.
Not closed anymore. Repainted halfway (although a pretty bad paint joband opened again for the public. Blinding white! Nice to climb on top and enjoying the view.
