Hovedøya kloster in Moss
Description
Privilege
Very nice
Hermoso lugar con playa
Pěkný ostrov u Osla, kam za pár minut dojedete lodí 👍🚢 a najdete tam příjemnou kavárnu hned u zříceniny starobylého kláštera z 12. století.
MoreGreat visit if exploring ruins is your thing. Just a short ferry trip from Akke Brygge.
MoreGreat place to walk around and feel outside the city. Just a short 8 minute ferry ride from City Hall. Loved the old monatery ruins.
MoreWell presented ruins, with information and model of the cloister as it existed eight centuries ago. A café close by. However, if you visit with kids - theres no playground or anything to keep them busy in the area.
MoreSuper schön und gemütlich. Sehr liebevolle Gestaltung
(From WikipediaThe monastery was founded on 18 May 1147 by monks from Kirkstead Abbey in England on Hovedøya island, and dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Edmund. One of the more interesting items to look at on Hovedøya Island. And to the filthy entitled pig that left their used salad bowl (from the cafe next dooron the wall of the monastery, you’re a scumbag. Please do the world a favor and run to the nearest sharp knife and immediately fall on it.
MoreSuper. Cudowny klimat, relaks itd.
It was really nice to experience this monastery island. Unfortunately, no coffee was found on the isle.
MoreWell preserved, and very relaxing place.
Authentic
History is always interesting
Attractive, quite and beautiful place
Love it
The Historical Cisterian monestery id truly a historical sight and for anyone in oslo for just a weekend an easy and fun stop. in my humble oppinion it is as importiant stop as Frogner park and with the freequent boats going from aker brygge to the island its realy no excuse not to visit. (ps: the ferry has a varying schedual in winter, it is most accesable between april and september)
MoreAtmospheric surroundings. Not much left of the ruins even, so an explanatory map or display would help a lot to fill in the gaps. What there is to be found on the internet is scarce. The tower is nice and has part of s spiral staircase left.
MoreNice and quiet place. Always fun for kids to play at. The tower you can climb in is all kids favourite.
MoreWell, its some gosh darn old rocks. In a cool formation. A bit of info here and there.
MoreReally quiet island south off the port of Oslo. It was lovely to see the ferries and container ships sailing by. You get a great view of Lindøy from the top of the island.
MoreGorgeous place
Really nice place to go, make a BBQ and relax with family of friends. Also it is really easy to get there by public transportation. Definitely worth going to relax and swim on the fjord.
MoreNice island near Oslo, can for a day picnic, there a small cafe
Interesting to see the ruins and visualize where the various rooms in the Monestry were. Look out for the miniature floor plan to get an idea.
MoreThe place is pretty but no information about it is available in English on site. Quite a pity.
MoreSehr schöner und idyllischer Ort zum Picknicken und Zeitvertreib. Ein paar Meter weiter kommen kleine Strände mit Kiezsteinen, wo man herrlich auf das Umland von Oslo erblicken kann.
MoreNice
So much history to learn about on the island. We enjoy going back again.
Perfect!
Very calm and beautiful
Quite interesting Island
One thing you should definitely do when in Oslo os visiting the Islands. Especially Hovedøya! The ruins are nice to visits and its simply fantastic to get into the nature that close to the city!
More❤ love this place. The boat from Aker brygge, the smell from salty water, the beach, the grass, the woods, the café with waffels = my favorite place to be on a hot summer day
MoreAmazing and nicely preserved ruins of a rather large monastery.
Theres nothing really there but is tueostical
Not much to see but peaceful and relaxing
Loved visiting here. Great ferry ride and beautiful to walk around the island.
Really interesting to see a place from 1047, mostly ruins but can still climb the stairs in one tower. Really close to Oslo centre, boat from Aker brygge
MoreCool, but a bit boring; theres not too much to see
Very beautiful place for outdoor activities like . Fabulous natural view from top of the valley.
MoreI have no words to describe the place. When I was there, everything was covered by snow, one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited. The boat was cool. One of the mandatory activities in Oslo, and I think that better during winter season.
MoreNice and peacefull place.
You can come here with the ferry, its a short hike through the woods.Nice place with information about the ruins.
MoreIf you need a quiet place in Oslo - nice ruins.
Great place for a sunny day swim and BBQ
Very nice place for out door picnics...kids will surely enjoy this place on a nice sunny day
