I would like to call upon all those that want to know the history of Dubai where it started and the life of sheik Almaktom please visit this museum for more details
One of the first houses of Al Shindagha, Obaid bin Thani’s House was built in 1917 of maritime stones and gypsum, thus reflecting the prosperity of the region at that time due to the flourishing pearl trade. The Sheikh Obaid Al Thani’s House, just like the Sheikh Saeed Aal Maktoum’s House and the adjoining Heritage Village, is itself a tribute to Dubai Government’s determination to preserve the local heritage and cultural values, the house is an oasis of tranquillity in an otherwise bustling month in Dubai’s calendar. The house was a residence of the owners’ families, with a large courtyard and several rooms for the family members and special entrance for the female guests. The Pippal tree (common in Indiain the courtyard provided ample shade for the members entertaining their guests or enjoying a gathering.
Realistic representation of development of Dubai. Very modern exhibitions. It feels like traveling through the time
Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum was the Ruler of Dubai from 1921 to 1958 and grandfather to the current ruler. His former residence has been rebuilt and restored as a museum that is a fine example of Arabian architecture. The original house was built in 1896 by Sheikh Saeeds father, so he could observe shipping activity from the balconies. It was demolished, but the current house was rebuilt next to the original site, staying true to the original model by incorporating carved teak doors, wooden lattice screens across the windows, and gypsum ventilation screens with floral and geometric designs.Thirty rooms are built around a central courtyard with wind-tower details on top.Inside are the exhibits of the Dubai Museum of Historical Photographs and Documents, with many wonderful old photographs of Dubai from the period between 1948 and 1953.The marine wing of the museum has photos of fishing, pearling, and boat building. Throughout the building there are many letters, maps, coins, and stamps on display showing the development of the Emirate.Nearby is the Sheikh Obaid bin Thani House, restored with displays of traditional interiors.Address: Al Khaleej Road, Bur DubaiA very interesting and educative place to visit if you want to learn more about Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum
Very nicely maintaining the history and culture of #DXB and #UAEWas Good experience for visiting. Especially evening time light decoration more attractive and looking so nice.
Very interesting historic building and former residential quarters of a former ruler of Dubai, situated along Dubai Creek. Gives a fascinating glimpse into the history of Dubai and view the most exquisite traditional architecture.

Just want to make ur self to know how this amazing city was , it will take you to back in times when camel was a Land cruiser and sky scrapers were sand dunes “ those houses are the rocky seabed’s stone made.. take a walk and u will love it
Fantastic place for those wanting to know a little more than the glass and steel structures that we all know Dubai for. We had the place almost to ourself in the late afternoon and were met by a very friendly and attentive Emirati on the door. I would highly recommend this place for a little indulgence in history.
This is a very interesting tourist attraction at Dubai. Its got the Perfume Museum and the Creek Museum in it. Both the Museums are well planned and maintained. The entry ticket to both the museum cost around AED 20, I think. The Perfume museum gives a history on Perfumes and the different core ingredients that are used to produce specific Perfumes. You can also smell the different Perfumes here. The Creek Museum gives you a walkthrough of Dubais history. Everything from currency to fabrics to stamps to cooking utensils are showcased here. There is also a movie that they show just before you exit from the museum.
Its a nice place for history lovers. The historical village of the founder of one of the states of todays UAE. Furthermore, it neighbours beautiful sea side with. I recommend to visit this place in afternoon and dont forget to bring water with you.
We are working here to make speacial designs
Stationed in the locality of Al Shindagha, this historic building is the former residential house of one of the old-time rulers of the Emirates; Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum and has proven to be one of the best places to visit in Dubai due to its historic significance. The building is now converted into a museum and has an array of artifacts from all over the Arab world. You will get to see historic photographs, documents, and furnishings from years dating back to the 1800s and you can get a chance to catch his panoramic landscape of Dubai’s skyline.Location: Al Khaleej Rd | Bur Dubai, Dubai, United Arab EmiratesTimings: Monday to Sunday 8:00AM - 8:30PM except on Friday it is 3:00PM - 8:30P
We took a short taxi ride from the Dubai Museum to here as it was not on our bus route. We last visited in 2013 and were no less fascinated on this occasion. The house dates to 1896 and was the official residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum – the ruler of Dubai from 1912 to 1958, and grandfather of the present Sheikh. It is now incorporated into the Shindagha museum, a window into Dubais past with its lovely architecture and large wind towers. It covers a large area and comprises many wings where the visitor can marvel at the collections of various artefacts including, coins, stamps, jewelry, lithographs, old documents and maps, plus many other items dating to previous centuries. I think we paid AED3 entrance fee but its free if you have the Dubai Pass
Place is awesome for family outing in Bur Dubai . Surrounding of hotel and restaurants. With Pakistani, Indian, Chinese, Nepali and Arabian dishes. Private hatch available.
Historical park developed by the Dubai Government. Maintained the ancient palace of HH Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum very well and modernised with air conditions, lighting, audio-video as well. Nice ambience to sit in the sea shore and can enjoy the evening there.
One of the most historic attraction at the Al Shindhaga Heritage Sites is the Shiekh Saeed Al Makhtoum House. With a grand and exquisite architecture of long alleyways, magnificent wooden doors, airy balconies and a large courtyard, the house was built just before the turn of the 20th century and carefully restored for the future. With four windtowers and four wings, the house is a museum of sorts with coins and stamps, ancient jewelry, artifacts, antiques, photos, dioramas and wooden ship models. This is definitely one of the attractions you should see when in Dubai.
A place where people can watch the ancient culture, the old atructure of house were build in UAE. Also the Juthoor centre delivers so much information on lifestyle of Emaratis in the old golden times.

This is the home of the man who started the change of Dubai from its humble origins to where it is today. Its an amazing insight into the recent history of this incredible town, and also shares some of the story of the ruling family with lots of photos and old documents and artifacts. Its located in the old part of Dubai, where the scents of the sea and spices mix with the past. Its also close to the Creek and the Al Ghubaiba Metro station, so very accessible. Inside is airconditioned. Its also incredibly good value at AED3.
A nice & well maintained place
Interesting place definitely worth to visit

This is really amazing place with nice view. 😍You will move one century back while you are here in 2019. ✌😉
Dubai is an amazing city with ultra modren architecture at the same time preserving old culture, one example of which is house of sheik Saeed who heads emirates group. This is free to acess, go check out the heritage of UAE. This place is accessible from Al Ghubaiba water transport stations, Abra station, Dubai metro and also by Ghubaiba bus station.
This is a very clean mosque on the main highway to Abu Dhabi. Almost 10,000 tourists visit there each day. A well managed place with proper instructions and staff to guide visitors. The have abayas available free of cost for the visitors with improper dress code, that means people who are not wearing ankle length trousers and half sleeves uppers atleast. There is a long way to walk from the check-in counters to the mosque entrance. Approx 1000 meters. Electric golf cars are available for visitors who cannot walk but they drop till the entrance of mosque. All the sightseeing need s to be done on foot.Photography is allowed in the mosque and it is famous for its single piece of carpet covering the entire 30000 sq feet area of mosque . A must visit place one you are in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. We covered it along with our visit to Ferrari world from Dubai. It is a 2-2.5 hours from Dubai city center.
Pure arabic culture and architecture of ancient civilizations. The front view is breath taking.
Sightseeing in Dubai is incomplete without a visit to the house of Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum, which houses the Dubai Museum of Historical Photographs and Documents giving a glimpse of Dubai’s history. The house is the epitome of Arabic architecture, which has a splendid design, coupled with luxurious interiors.
It is a great place to visit to see UAE culture up close and personal also the sea view is also very beautiful. you can also take a boat ride to cross the canal it will cost 1 AED per person also be careful with children when taking the boat ride because their is no safety bars around the boat.
So beautiful heritage house. You have to see it
House of Shaikh is next to Dubai Creek. You can see altogether different Dubai here. Good walk. You cant enter in any of the building but can walk around this village. Should not miss Dubai Creek ferry which will cost you 1 dhiram.
Its a museum. There are some very old photographs and Maps of Dubai. Looking at the photos of Dubai taken in the 1920s and 1930s --- one is wonderstuck at the amazing progress Dubai has made in just 4 decades. For those interested there is an entire section devoted to describing the making of "Arabian Perfume" -Also, there are old historically important documents and agreements signed by the early Kings.Worth the effort IF you are a student of literature and archeology and Law
Nice place to visit. Must do in uae. Nothing much just to see how they lived and how hey are now big difference. Makes u think what money has done in this part of world.

If you want to look back a history of Dubai there is one respectable place to see it in photos - Shaikh Saeed Al-Maktoum family. There are ancient photos of al-Maktoum family, Dubai and art, music, and literature. Some of the antique photos has been used in adornment of Dubai This is the place to be if you want to gain an detailed insight into the antiquity of Dubai as you explore the habitation of a former ruler of Dubai (the grandfather of the present ruler). While remembering the old charm of a home, the house has also been transformed into a museum with an striking collection of exhibits.

One of the most attractive place to be visited and enjoy seeing how it was the living conditions of the old Dubai and showing how it is the relationship between the ruler and the citizen. Amazing things to discover.
Very beautiful place. U can feel the original oriental atmosphere
A historical place the house of the Former ruler of DubaiIts a historical building which has been renovated to its glory. The building is huge and only a part of it is open for our viewing. The galleries are good but could have been done better. The specialty of this place is in the wind towers which have been restored and do check that out.The view from the first floor is great and do not miss that.
Quite a nice place to spend about one hour plus. Some of the exhibits are yet to open. All of the rooms are air conditioned with plenty of benches around the area to sit down and rest.Should put in more information to compliment the pictures showcased here.
Although its not original, it was rebuild, its a faithful reconstruction of a rich house of early XIX Dubai. There are many pics of royal family and of old Dubai, but could be enriched with some furniture.
