House of Lydia Bed & Breakfast - in Lynchburg, United States
The House of Lydia was a pleasure to stay at! Bonnie, the proprietor, is very kind and welcoming. The exterior of the house could use some work (similar to many houses in the area), yet the interior is very quaint, elaborate, and thoughtfully decorated. Breakfast in the morning was the highlight, prepared by Bonnie with love and wonderfully presented! We were touched by her witness of faith, and we would love to visit again someday.
We had an absolutely wonderful time there!!!!The owner, Bonnie, went above & beyond to care for us, especially with her delicious organic breakfast! We were blessed! We will be back!
Great central location to downtown, beautiful home, excellent food, and a truly amazing woman and host, Miss Bonnie!
My significant other and I spent the past Saturday and Sunday nights at House of Lydia B&B. The beautiful building was impressive, with Venetian plaster ceilings and arched doorways. (And the neighborhood has other gems to see if you take a walk around. We stayed in the 1 Corinthians room, with my significant other loving the air jet bath. And while Im not very tall, I could readily see someone who typically struggles with standard-height shower heads appreciating (if not lovingthe rain shower.Owner and host Bonnie was fantastic. She went out of her way to accommodate our breakfast and lodging needs and wants. (Please be sure to tell her not just of any food allergies but also of any strong food preferences so that you can thoroughly enjoy breakfast. She makes it a point to use organic ingredients, and theres plenty to eat. (I had so much to eat during the first breakfast that I skipped my lunch and almost could have skipped dinner. Its obvious that Bonnie cares a lot about her guests.Theres so much more that I could write, but I hope that this gives you a good idea. Get your reservation in; you wont be disappointed.
What an amazing lady and B&B. You may arrive as a stranger but you will most definitely will leave as a friend. Miss Bonnie is the kindest person I have ever met. When your hostess prays for your safety you know you have stayed in the right place. Her home is beautiful. You will sleep so peaceful. If you’re looking for a place to stay look no further.
Fabulous! Clean bed and breakfast, delicious food, All homemade organic! Coffee and tea Always available!Beautiful historic home on red brick road. Near good restaurants, bagley shops etc. Liberty University lots of shopping.
My stay at Lidia’s place was fantastic. The daily breakfast option is a must. Great start to the day. Any recommendations and/or questions, Lidia was prompt in her response. My family and I will definitely stay there again
Our stay was beautiful...from Ms. Bonnies genuine warmth, the beautiful, peaceful welcoming environment to the comfortable bed and delicious food we were blessed from the moment we arrived. I loved the linens and the dishes and the tea time.
Let me start by saying, WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE!!! This bed & breakfast is an absolute hidden gem in Lynchburg. Whether it is the coziness of the home, beautiful porch or exquisite gardening, you will feel the warmth surrounded by all of the beauty. The rooms are simply gorgeous and quite comfy. The owner, Bonnie, could not be sweeter. She is attentive, caring and always willing to offer a kind word. I looked forward to breakfast each morning not only because of her baking skills but also her wonderful spirit. It was a pleasure to start off each day in such a nice way. You can not go wrong giving the House of Lydia a chance!
We really enjoyed our stay with Bonnie at the House Of Lydia B&B. She was a wonderful host and her hospitality was outstanding. We felt welcome from start to finish and her breakfast was a real treat as well as delicious. Her table setting on her outdoor porch on a beautiful Sunday morning was just perfect. We also enjoyed the home decor and her childhood story only she could provide as a unique life experience. No wonder she constantly gets five star ratings. She had recommendations for walks, great food and theaters within a short distance. We would stay with Bonnie again and recommend this location to others.
AMAZING "BREAKFAST & BED", I say that b/c Ive stayed at many B&Bs, most of which are Select Registry, and their breakfasts dont even come close in comparison to Innkeeper & Chef Bonnies creations! She has a true servants heart for good old fashioned southern hospitality & food! I booked all 3 rooms for my familys stay & we left feeling like we became a part of her family! The best part was getting to know this wonderful godly Christian woman! Everything she does is top drawer & the rooms are spic & span. The beds were comfy with crisp clean sheets. AC was efficient & a cool 68* for sleeping under the warm covers in the middle of July...such a treat! The bed topper in the Corinthian room was even ironed! Fresh cut flowers, specialty teas, bottled waters & beverages, and she tries to make everything from organic sourcing. The B&B is w/in walking distance (3-5 minof one of Lynchburgs best & trendiest farm to table restaurants called Greys. We are there both evenings of our stay. Theres even a great donut shoppe called Mama Crockets next to Greys for hot delicious, made to order cider donuts for dessert. Cant say enough about this quaint little B&B where youll be treated like family & catered to with love! Any time I have need to book a room in the Lynchburg area I will definitely choose House of Lydia! Well worth the price especially with the sweet & savory breakfast each morning.
Please stop asking me to rate the B&B across the street from where I live.
I had read all theses good reviews about the House of Lydia and thought I would be welcome there. But my stay really exceeded my expectations. Bonnie is an exceptional hostess, she is kind, warm and respectful (and an incredible cook, best breakfast ever). In the historical district of Lynchburg, her house is lovely, cozy and elegant, just like she is. I have been lucky to find her and be able to stay at her house.
Sweet historical house with vintage and African decor. The owner is wonderful and so helpful. They have homemade organic soaps and good food. Very warm and inviting. This place is on a historical street. Fireplaces in the main rooms and very clean.
What an amazing find! My sister and I were met with the most gracious hospitality, stunning home and then were "spoiled" with an amazing breakfast, by the fire. We both loved our rooms, each elegantly appointed. If you are within an hour of Lynchburg, please do not miss this incredible House of Lydia. Our innkeeper was so dear to both of us and I look forward to another visit, when I am in the area! This is honestly a treasure for Lynchburg and wish it were closer to Raleigh!
We had a wonderful stay! Bfast was superb & the service was excellent! The owner is a gem!
Awesome experience. Bonnie is just lovely and the house is clean and comfortable. Her hospitality is beyond what I expected. I spent 2 hours just relaxing on her porch swing!! Location is perfect ...close to downtown and historic sites.
My husband and I went to House of Lydia for our 5th anniversary getaway trip. We had a wonderful time. Miss Bonnie is such a sweetheart. We spent hours just talking to her. It was so refreshing! We stayed in the I Corinthians room. It was so beautiful and comfortable. The bathroom is just simply amazing. I, a person who loves baths, enjoyed some very relaxing bubble baths. The food was delicious and mostly organic. She only serves the best quality. She cares about her guests and strives to make them feel comfortable and relaxed. We are so thankful that we found this wonderful place. We left full--our bellies and our hearts. We plan on returning.
House of Lydia, bed and breakfast, provides you with a treasured experience. The house itself is filled with beautiful comfortable furniture and art. Bonnie, our hostess, provides an experience that is warm, inspired, gracious and delicious.I look forward to returning to Lynchburg to visit her.
The House of Lydia is definitely one of the regions best kept secrets. It is an excellent place for smaller retreats and intimate gatherings. As an event attendee at the House of Lydia, I must say the food is superb and the atmosphere absolutely beautiful.
Bonnie -owner and Innkeeper- is a remarkable hostess. Her attention to detail from fine, crisp linens on the beds to a morning feast made with organic ingredients contribute to a five star stay! Will come back again in a heartbeat.
I dont think I could sum up and put into words the experience weve had at the House of Lydia. Its a beautiful historical home that resonates peace and tranquility. Wed lost faith in B&Bs after a bad experience and as weary travels with nowhere to stay in Lynchburg, due to commencement ceremonies, we had no choice but to stay at a B&B. When we initially called for information and reservations, Bonnie was helpful and gracious in answering all of our questions. We arrived to a warm heartfelt welcome and delicious snacks. We then entered our room which was not only beautiful but the cleanliest place we have ever stayed. We were pampered with natural soaps, shampoos and other bath products. We slept so comfortably and we were able to get a refreshing night’s sleep as we awoke to the smells of breakfast. Our breakfast consisted of gourmet quality and organic food items. There was so much food that we almost always skipped lunch. Needless to say, Bonnie was a wonderful host. She built our trust back up in B&B’s. I only wish this place was much closer to us and we would come more often. We’ve stayed at the House of Lydia three times since our initial weary visit in 2014! Bonnie is not only very hospitable but very helpful with information about the surrounding community. She has made us feel so comfortable and welcomed that I feel as if our son who lives in Lynchburg and our daughter who attends Liberty University have a place to go to if there ever is a time of need.
The House of Lydia is absolutely wonderful. My wife and I were extremely pleased with the peaceful and calming Christian atmosphere. The hospitality of the owner is reminiscent of days past, when courtesy and customer satisfaction was tantamount. This bed and breakfast is a must stay for those who in for a time of relaxation and spiritual inspiration.
As Im sitting on the porch listening to the birds chirping, and water fountain trickling, while a cool breeze blows as I eat a peach sorbet with Ginger cookies I think...I should write a review because this place is transcending. The sorbet was a great way to finish up our afternoon snack platter of fresh fruits, gourmet cheese, hummus and crackers with sparkling water of course (we declined the offer for sparkling cider and other fancy beverages)! This is our second time staying here and its nothing like any other B&B weve visited. Bonnie has a heart for serving her guest and making them feel so special. The rooms and specially made bath items are luxurious. The beds sleep well and the peace of the house sends us into a sweet slumber. Bonnie is also health conscious and will buy as much as she can organic and of high quality. Shes also great with food allergies, restrictions, and even vegans!
The location was historical and lovely. The grounds superb. The food was top notch. The house was enchanting, and Miss Bonnie was the best hostess of any b&b we have ever been to in the 15 years weve been using b&bs. Absolutely Five Star all the way. Loved it.
My husband I stumbled upon the House of Lydia after we discovered that all the hotels in Lynchburg were booked. We are so glad that we did! What a treat. We were in Lynchburg for the Angels Race Triathlon. We could not have asked for a better experience. Miss Bonnies hospitality was a gift and the food was amazing. We stayed in the Philippians 4:13 room (perfect for competing in a race!). We highly recommend the House of Lydia and hope that we can return some day.
My husband and I just returned from a wonderful weekend at the House of Lydia. Our first time experience became a tasteful, secluded time away from home. The 1st Corinthians bedroom and spacious bath was made for luxurious pleasure. We especially enjoyed the deep jetted tub and rain shower. We also enjoyed the company of the Inn Keeper/chef and her staff. Breakfast was splendid and we cannot wait for our next visit!Showtime of Atl
From the moment we walked in the door we were engulfed in an atmosphere of peace and comfort. Every corner of the home is tastefully adorned in a collection of period antiques, art, and modern accents that blend together seamlessly. My friend and I stayed in the Philippians 4:13 room. The bed was luxurious and we slept like babies. The bathroom was spotless and the rain shower head was a treat. Miss Bonnie catered to our every need and even gave us a "walking tour" to the War Memorial Stairs. Breakfast was out of this world. Miss Bonnie made a salmon breakfast quiche, potato wedges, turkey bacon, granola, fresh fruit, coffee and juice. Needless to say, we did not eat lunch!! We stayed in the home less than twenty-four hours, but we left feeling like we were family. We will return!!
