Paulus Potterstraat 12 14 16, 1071 CZ Amsterdam, Netherlands, Amsterdam
Self-guided tour of noted Dutch gin museum including a tasting room, plus cocktails in the chic bar.
We purchased our tickets through the Go City pass and out of all the tours weve done in Amsterdam this is by far the best. So much fun from beginning to end with Boaz and Micky greeting us at the beginning. So helpful, friendly, and welcoming. Then rounding off the tour with Yannicks bartending skills. His drinks were delicious! My group and I would highly recommend them. We will definitely be back.
Went on a tour, which felt like half informative, half a commercial for the alcohol. Still cool though. The drink at the end took a bit of waiting, but when we got to our turn, the bartender was super attentive and polite. We ended up staying for more drinks afterwards, and just timed our drinks for when they weren’t too busy serving people at the end of tours. Drinks were great and all the bartenders were really awesome.Great place to grab a drink, don’t forget to tip the bartenders.
What an experience well worth visiting and learning the history. Such a fun tour smelling all the components of the cocktails. The peach cheesecake cocktail was delicious. The man on the front desk yesterday was great.. lovley energy. Would definitely reccomend
This was my second visit and not quite as good as the first time several years ago. The museum is really interesting but the bar was overcrowded and understaffed. Drinks are lovely but limited to a selection
We took a cocktail making class, it was very fun and informative. All the employees we interacted with were very kind and fun. We got 3 cocktails and a tour for a great price. The museum was also interesting to tour.
10/10 drinks! The cocktail class was so much fun, I’d recommend to anyone
Nice experience but not very into details and the whole tour including the drink at the bar is less thank an hour
We did the cocktail experience and it was great fun. The person who led the course was energetic and very knowledgeable. Also great value for money, considering we all enjoyed 3 cocktails.
We had a tour with a freshly made cocktail and then a workshop after. It was all very lovely and easy going and a lot of fun! Definitely recommend doing if you’re into cocktails.
Kimly and other workers were amazing. To add to that, the cocktails were delicious. You can request bartender as you like.
Great dive into cocktail, Genever and liquor making from the beginning of Bols imperium. Nice made. You can select different languages and get a free cocktail voucher
The cocktails at the end were very good.I would recommend to order of the to set menu. The bartenders are incredibly skilled.
This was one of our stops in Amsterdam. We used our iAmsterdam card for admission, which I highly recommend you use. This Location is full of history and a taste of spirits at the end of your experience. Their flavored spirits are the best!
Fascinating and revealing. Anyone that enjoys a cocktail should definitely visit if they have the opportunity.
The museum was very nice. There was lots to read, hear, smell and touch. Cocktails at the end were great and the employees were friendly and knowledgeable.
My favorite museum experience in Europe! We went through the museum and attended the cocktail workshop. It was so enlightening and informative. The staff is absolutely a delight and we had the best time sipping on cocktails after everything was over. Special shout out to Yannick and Kiki for being so warm and welcoming. We will come back again when we are back in Amsterdam.
House of Bols is a nice place for expériences: you can taste a shot and then smell various perfumes. At the end of the visit you can drink a cocktail for free with the flavor you want of the alcool depicted in that museum. To do.
Highly recommend the cocktail experience. Also just a cheap place to get a great cocktail for 6 euros.Staff are so much fun ❤️
Good cocktail workshop, value for money if purchased on group-on! The museum experience itself is not worth it, waste of time and money!
Hands down one of the best experiences in Amsterdam. I went here every single day of my stay in Amsterdam. There are plenty of cocktails to choose from and if you cant find what you want the bartenders are more than happy to make something that you enjoy. The tour is great, enjoyed learning about the history of the company and €6 for a cocktail is a great deal!
a friend and I had the most amazing experience here! we booked the tour and also the cocktail making class. the museum is very informative and interactive. we had never heard of genever before and were very excited to learn all about it! the bartenders were amazing and more than eager to help or provide more info about the cocktails. the class was so much fun and I would definitely recommend it!! I loved how we were able to cater to our own specific tastes while still making the same kind of cocktails. over all, one of my favourite activities in Amsterdam and I couldnt recommend it enough, especially the price, not too expensive for what youre getting
It was a fun experience. Beautiful place. They have very good cocktails at reasonable prices.
Very fun spot. Never had jenever before and they did a great job describing it and drinks were excellent. Didnt do the tour but just going to the bar was a great time.
I went there with a big group and we did a cocktail workshop. The museum is quite small, but they provided audio guide and it was easy to use to listen to the stories behind the displays. It was fun to try a shot in a booth and have the reaction recorded and it was interactive to be able to smell different flavors of the liquors. The cocktail workshop was really really fun. We learned how to make 2 cocktails and after that we got to choose a cocktail we like from the bar. I would recommend the Cocktail workshop for groups!
Such a nice experience!! I highly recommend the Cocktail making workshop, the staff was super friendly and the barkeeper explained everything in such a fantastic way! The tour itself was interesting and amazing too. Especially the "smell-room" with over 30 bols bottles, you have to guess the taste there! Super fun way to explain the history of Lucas Bols!
Very pretty museum.Just a little on the small side. There could have been so much more to this if they would have gone a bit deeper into certain topics. For the museum alone, it is not worth the price of €15.50The only thing that justifies this price for me is the fact that you have 1 cocktail included into your entry ticket.Overall not a bad museum and a fun experience.
I was skeptical at first with the museum as I found the history quite boring and easily forgettable. That was until after drinking the little bottle they give you when it starts to pick up. I really enjoyed smelling the different liquors and learning about the different processes of making alcohol. You also get one free drink and their drink selection machine is fun to use. The drinks were also some of the best Ive ever had. Would recommend one of their genever based drinks since thats what theyre known for
3rd time coming here and better than previous visits, more interaction and the bar staff were the best yet.
Super interesting- I didnt want to.come at first but glad my partner talked me in to it! Self guided tour with little audio devices. So cool here
We did the cocktail workshop + tour at House of Bols. Overall we had a great experience! Learned a little bit about the history of Bols Genever, got one cocktail after the tour, and then made two more cocktails while learning how to make them at the workshop. I would personally recommend doing the workshop, although the tour was interesting I don’t think it would have been worth it on its own. I particularly enjoyed the workshop because we got to choose a different flavored liqueur for each of the two cocktails we mixed! The staff was also very friendly. Recommend this experience!
An absolute must see if you’re in Amsterdam! We paid €30 each for the self-guided tour including a free cocktail, plus the cocktail workshop where you make 2 more yourself. The museum section was a great, really immersive experience for all the senses. You take a shot in a small vibrating room with flashing lights, guess BOLS flavours by smell and learn all about distilling and the history of genever. Then, the cocktail workshop was so enjoyable and the bartender leading the experience was amazing. You get to customise the cocktails by picking your own flavours, so no need to worry if you’ve got specific taste! After the experience, the cost to buy additional cocktails was just €6. All of the staff we spoke to were lovely and we enjoyed every moment - I’ve never left a review for anywhere before but couldn’t help but recommend this place!
Great self guided tour which is topped off with a free cocktail of your choice from a selection. I would recommend the cocktail making class which lasts for about 30 minutes and you make two cocktails. Andy our host was fantastic and engaging. Would certainly recommend!
Very cool vibe, I did the cocktail workshop and it was really fun and interesting to learn. Fair warning it will definitely get you tipsy!
Unique experience. Interesting to learn a little bit about the history of Gin and how it is made. It was fun to smell all of the different types of gin. The included cocktail at the end was nice!
While this wasnt a crazy long self guided tour, the bar area is pretty cool and genever twists of classic Cocktails were pretty delicious. I did the 2pm cocktail making workshop because the van gogh museum tickets were sold out, and I really loved just drinking a few Cocktails and making some of my own. I bought the tickets when the place opened at 1pm.
For 16€/person you get a self guided audio tour about a 500 year old genever distillery that takes about 30-45min, a little shot thing during the tour, and a badass mix drink made by a great bartender in a trippy mirrored bar which is a pretty darn good deal all things considered. A great way to end, or start, your day in Amsterdam.
Fun little museum with a surprising amount of interactive displays. Good cocktail at the bar afterwards too. Short and sweet!
One of the best places I went in Amsterdam by far! I was able to discover the fascinating drink called Genever, a predecessor to the British gin, and to be honest better and smoother than it.Me and my husband went to House Bols and we had booked the full experience, including the cocktail class and a visit to the Genever museum with audio guides, which gave us a free drink (plus the 2 we made during the class). The bartenders there are highly skilled, so that I just told the girl the types of things I liked and she invented a mixture to match my taste!Overall is a awesome place to go with a small group of friends or a partner so you can fully enjoy everything that the house has to offer.
Interesting museum about the history of Bols genever and its liquors! Museum is well designed around all human sensory systems, and gives a great experience (just like you would expect from a good cocktail!). I would highly recommend picking the premium ticket, as the value of the gift you receive is already the same as the extra cost.
We booked the mixology course and were highly satisfied with the experience! The bartender was humorous, extremely motivated and amiable! They are really generous, for the price we paid we received two free professionally prepared drinks and a tour around the museum! Well be looking forward to return :)
Great experience. Tour isn’t long either which is great (keeps you interested with activities!🥂Incredible cocktails too😍Thank you so much to all the staff! 🍾🍾Genevieve and Darren
The tour was fun, especially when we got to smell the different types of scents distilled. I didnt enjoy my drink, so I ordered a second drink. I ordered an old fashioned, and it was so sweet I couldnt drink it. It didnt have any of the qualities of an old fashioned. I have had several types of Bols, and they are delicious!!!! I think that the bartender was a bit off today.
We absolutely love this place. A tribute to Lucas Bols who brought spices from Indonesia in 1501 and created the flavored alcohol known as Genever in the Netherlands ( but doesnt taste like gin, much bettercomparable to Gin. A tour of the place will give you a history of the distillery including his handwritten recipe book and equipment he used. Then you end up in a modern cocktail bar where you savor hundreds of cocktails using genever. There is also a cocktail making class. We come here every time in Amsterdam and never get tired of savoring true genever! We like it straight like it is served traditionally.
Chose it on an off chance and did not regret it. Super fun experience of the museum and cocktail class. Definitely worth it!!
So the museum itself you can finish in like 15 mins. However, I really recommend doing the cocktail workshop. We got to understand how all the tools worked and enjoyed a few cocktails at their bar. They teach you simple tricks to make delicious cocktails and you can choose your flavours.
The cocktails are great, the museum is small, but interesting, all in all it is worth the 16 euro entry, you can chose your cocktail at the end, the barman was friendly and professional! Only regret that we couldnt have more cocktails 🤪
Really enjoyed the place. Took a self tour with an audio guide. Thr tour was short yet nice. The experience part was nice. We got a small bottle with a cocktail and got a video of us drinking it while seiing lights straight to our mail. The we picked a cocktail and the awesome bartender made it for us. Really enjoyed it.
We went on a Friday afternoon. We spent €30 on the tour an cocktail class. I would definitely recommend. We left quite drunk after being served one lovely drink and making two of our own. It’s also €6 for an extra cocktail. The tour is informative but I was sad that the interactive exhibit was not working and we were not informed of this when paying for th tour.
Very fun and educational atmosphere! You can tour the museum part and grasp an idea of the different liquors they have available. You can understand the idea of the scents incorporated in the liquors as well. Very fun. At the end of the museum you can also be a part of a workshop ( if you purchase the workshop ticketand learn how to make your own 2 personal drinks. At the end of the workshop you can take your 2 drinks to the bar area and enjoy them. Once done you have a free on the house drink with your workshop voucher. I met Luca who helped create an awesome drink for me after describing what types of taste I like. Go have fun and enjoy a few drinks!
I loved coming here! This museum is well designed and so stylish and chic! The tour itself isnt very long, but it is very informative and interactive. The bonus is a cocktail (included in the ticket priceat the end. They also have cocktail workshops at an extra cost if youre so inclined.
