Hotel de la Paix in Luzern
Description
Best location. Walking distance to Lion monument and Chapel bridge and old town. The service is great all staff are nice and helpful. Room service is amazing. We couldnt ask for more. Cant wait to visit again
MoreQuite hot. No air con.Staff at breakfast counter very rude and abrupt. Stayed there yesterday. Other hotels in zermatt interlaken and Zurich today was great with very friendly staff. The young girl at the break fast counter snapped. I Wanted to change table for four as there was cutlery for two only. W head not begun the breakfast. She snapped telling can’t jump tables and placed extra cutlery. She could have been polite. Terrible. Spoilt my mood and I checked out soon after.
MoreBig and sunny rooms. Good location. Regular wifi signal
Booked this hotel on a last minute trip, the only problem is AC, during summer is hell, but they have a fan in the room. Staff is friendly, nice breakfast, excellent location !! Good deal for exploring around
MoreStay here if you are looking for a good experience. Its near to all you need.
Breakfast was average for Europe. Could of had more sweets. Dinner was good but too pricey. Room was very small but clean. But my room had a poor view out of the window.
MoreI really loved this place. The breakfast was very nice. The staff was also helpful in planning activities, etc. They genuinely cared for guests and took pride in their hotel.Traveler Tip: I stayed in a triple (even though I was by myselfas this was the only room type available when I booked my room. I highly recommend a triple even if you are a single or couple. The room has two twin beds placed together to make a king bed. The pull out couch makes it a triple. As a single person, I had a nice big bed and a pull out couch. Importantly, based on the hotel layout, the triple rooms have balconies that face the city rather than windows viewing a light court. I had two nice balconies in my room that provided nice cool evening air. The extra cost for a triple is absolutely worth it, even if you are only a party of 1-2.
MoreWe were in the ambassador next door where you book in yourself. If you have a problem there is no one there to help and they tell you that there is a reception on the first floor . When you try to go on the elevator because obviously you have cases you cannot until you receive your room card. However once in the room was fine ,the bathroom was fine . The area was perfect to the water and ferries you could not ask for better. The no 1 bus from the station is a couple of stops when you have luggage but its a 5 min walk to the bust station and the station is right at the bus station perfect for travel. The only thing was the breakfast the toaster was bad they only had boiled eggs and when they ran out you had to wait some time. The cooked meat was the same for the three days we were there they also use rock salt for booked eggs never should be used for booked eggs must be table salt because you end up eating lumps of salt and think it is eggshell. Other than that we had a quiet room and were happy with that.
MoreClean and comfortable with friendly staff. On the negative side, no A/C and the floor squeaks when you try to sneak to the bathroom at night disturbing your roommates. The location is close to the lake and lion monument
MoreThe rooms were very nice and the balcony space was great. Close to a bunch of dining and shopping. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful when I forgot something in the room and had already traveled back to my home. Would highly recommend this hotel.
MorePros:Location is perfect, close to everythingClean room and bathroomGood view from the balconyFast check in and outTasty chocolate given to us at checkout as a gift!Cons:Wifi speed is not very fast and phone signal is not very goodShampoo and bath gel are the same and terrible! Hair left very frizzy.
MoreExcellent Location but Rooms are just OKBeds are little small. Rooms have only table Fan No Air Conditioning
MoreIt’s a roof over your head and not much else. The hotel is very old and outdated. The shower is not great. They have a weird sign saying if you get the floors wet they will charge you, so make sure you lay down towels to prevent that (glad we saw this before showering). Have to ask for hot water kettle and make sure you bring it down at check out. They won’t tell you to do it and just try to charge you 20 CHF for it. Luckily we were paying attention to it. No lobby to meet other members of your party in. I’d recommend staying here if you just need somewhere to rest your head and leave immediately. On the bright side, everyone was very kind and friendly.Make sure you ask for a city travel card.
MoreNot so good to stay. They had issues with the key. Not a very good hospitality. Location is good though.
MoreWe flew 5000 miles, changed 3 flights, took 1 train, walked 12 mins in light drizzle to get to this hotel and it was 11AM! Now what? Checkin time is 3PM. Exhausted I asked the lady at the front desk: we have a reservation but we are 4 hours early. Can you check us in? To my delight: she said - yes I can check you in and she gave us a room. What else do you need? This hotel will always be special to me. And god bless that lady!
MoreThe location was perfect. The hotel is right in the middle of the city with a variety of food and shopping spots near by. The city is well connected by bus, however, in some parts of Lucern you might have to wait for the bus a little more than youd expect. The staff was nice and friendly. They accommodated our luggage upon early arrival. I didnt particularly like the room because of several reasons. The door of the bathroom didnt fully open (it was blocked by the bed). No Coffee/Tea in the room. No wifi password instruction card in the room. You have to call / go to the reception to ask them about the password. Also, what I didnt like was the fact that upon arrival no one offered a Lucern Visitor Card (its a card you get if you have a booking in any of the hotels in Lucern). The visitor card makes your transportation free in Zone 10 (which pretty much covers the main areas). I knew about that so I had to specifically ask for it.
MoreWe could not have asked for a better hotel. Great central location, very comfortable rooms, and an amazing restaurant. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. They were all very kind, helpful, friendly, and patient. Daniel gave us great ideas for our stay. Everyone greeted us warmly when we came in. Breakfast was wonderful as well.
MoreThe hotel is situated in close proximity of all attractions within walking distance. Around 10 mins away by walking from train station. The room is basic and well-equipped. I stayed in the single room for a night and it is a very good stay.
MoreThe hotel was clean and well maintained. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Very good breakfast.
MoreVery friendly stuff. Nice room. Booked a single room, but got a double. It was a great surprise. The rooms are nicely furnished and very quite. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. I highly recommend this hotel.
MoreHotel located on the east side of the town, close to the lake and to the famous Lucern lion, at 10mn of the historical old town.On the plus sides: nice and professional employees, good breakfast in a nice restaurant, clean rooms. On the minus sides: no air conditioning in the rooms, and my room was slightly small (but it was a single-room, after all).
MoreBasic hotel with convenient location! The best part about this hotel is the location with walking distance to major citys attractions. Our room (no 227was small and a bit tired but clean. No air condition for summer period. We experienced a very humid night.Breakfast is pretty rich and of Swiss standard. The staff was friendly and helpful.RegardsSvein-Magne Tunli from Bergen, Norway.
MoreThis hotel was extremely noisy. It is located on a very busy street with a great deal of traffic all day and all night. There is no air conditioning. the windows had to be kept open and they gave you only one small fan. It is very generic. The desk staff was rude. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
MoreIt was too hot in our room. The room temperature was over 31 degrees Celsius (88 degrees Fahrenheit). None of the rooms had air conditioners, which is understandable for Europe. But when we asked how to better open the windows, as it was 19 C (67 Foutside, or if there was a cooler room (as we were on the sixth floor), the front desk response was that we could get another floor or desk fan but that it would be better if we kept our windows closed, as the room would be cooler that way. It made no sense. There were also plastic bags in lieu of ice buckets, which was particularly odd since they warned us that if the wooden floors became wet, we would be charged for water damage. Why set guests up for failure, particularly when the floors appeared to be made of laminate? Finally, for any travelers accustomed to not needing to travel with toiletries, this hotel provided hand soap and combination shampoo/body gel. This is not unusual, per se, for the area but just something of which to be aware.
MoreVery nice and friendly hotel. Can walk to the train station in 10 min or only two bus stops away. Walking distance to most point of interest in town. However, if your room is facing the main street, it could be quite noisy from 7 am onwards. Breakfast is good.
MoreDecent breakfast. Good staff. Rooms were a bit small, unless you get a corner room with balcony. Overall the stay was good.
MoreEnjoyed the comfy room, bed, comforter. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. Great location, with all the shopping next to the hotel and nearby. Rooms Wood flooring creaky though. And there were no hot water kettle in the room. Other then those 2 minor details, everything else was great.
MoreThe location was in the middle of the city. The stay was comfortable. The staff were helpful and accomodative. They also provided an option for breakfast for the late risers. Ursula at the reception was very helpful and guided us well to the places of interest
MoreReally friendly receptionist put us at ease right away. Clean and tidy enough. The breakfast/restaurant area is very quaint and historic. Real handy for the city centre. Lost a star as starting to look like it needs a lick of paint in places-but dont let that put you off. Well use it again
MoreStayed for one night fir a short visit to Luzern.Very well maintained hotel. Friendly staff. Excellent location. Good assorted breakfast.Did not give 5 stars because the voice of people talking in the corridor was quite loudly heard in my room. All in all I recommend this hotel.
MoreNice hotel right at the edge of the historic district street. Our room was fine although very busy area and in the summer with windows open it was quite load. Breakfast adequate. Great coffee machine. Staff was very accommodating.
MoreThe rooms were small but good... The only problem we faced were the twin beds for couple.. Breakfast was good... Croissant was nice... But all cold breakfast...hot milk and water available with boiled eggs... Helpful staff.. You can get bus travel free voucher for zone 10 from the reception for inner luxerne..
MoreVery near to the train station and boat station. Comfortable bed.But pillows are bit thin . Very clean bathrooms. Breakfast is very good. Nice and memorable stay.
MoreThis was our first time in Switzerland and dont have another hotel to compare it to. Staff was friendly. Didnt interact with them much. Hotel was clean. Hotel is easy to get to an in a prime location.Notes for future travelers: Rooms were small like the rest of Europe. No A/C as this hotel was built in 1910. Breakfast included is continental (Fruit, dried meats, coffee, juices, breads, cereals, hard boiled eggs only)
MoreCentrally located good hotel. Restaurant and food is nice. Breakfast is not elaborate but of decent quality. Rooms are good but without AC. During my stay in first week of June felt need of air-conditioning.
MoreFirst positive - location. A minutes walk from the lake. 7-8 minutes from the station. Second - clean, calm ambience. Third - a decent restaurant with a decent breakfast spread. Coffee is available anytime of the day. Rooms are a little on the smaller side - but thats true for most of Europe I guess.
MorePros: Very clean, large bath, central location right by the old town and a 10 minute walk from the train station. Good breakfast included (cheese, cured meats, fresh bread, cream cheese, boiled eggs, yogurt, juice). Affordable rooms - I was surprised at how expensive Switzerland was.Minor cons: The soundproofing in rooms is not as good as you would get in a concrete building (e.g. large newer hotels in North Americaand the beds are fairly small with thin mattresses. My sleep was unaffected but it may be a problem for some people.Overall very positive experience, friendly staff, iced tea in the reception is a nice touch. If I return to Lucerne, I will certainly stay at this hotel again.
MoreA really nice comfortable friendly hotel situated in the Centre of Lucerne near to all the local sights and ideal for a good shopping spree. I had one evening meal at the hotel and I can honestly say that the food was excellent .My room (for one personwas basic but very comfortable and cleaned daily to a very high standard. The staff are very helpful and friendly and I found that nothing was too much trouble.I would recommend this hotel and I look forward to coming back in the future.
MoreExcellently located for the old town, lake and railway station. Simple but comfortable room and a good breakfast. All members of staff we encountered were extremely cheerful and helpful.
MoreVery friendly staff, they speak english very well. The breakfast was included and was very good. Small, quaint little place. Amazing location. Wish I could have stayed longer.
MoreExcellent hotel with very good accessibility. Hotel staff is very warm. Even though hotel looks very small from the outside, it is still quite spacious and rooms are good sized. Would recommend👍
MoreGood location of hotel, good Wi-Fi.For such level of hotel very high price (in Germany you receive hotel of 5 stars for such price!), simple number, a simple breakfast, isnt present the parking, the close parking costs 25 Fr. in a night.
MoreThe room was Small. It did not have even a small refrigerator to keep our drinking water cool. It was moggy and very uncomfortable. Hotel is located in a busy section of the town, and is very noidy. The best part of our stay was the breakfast
MoreNear the city center and within walking distance to many attractions, great restaurant next door (owned by hotel). Staff was helpful, the room was nothing special though, a little small and boring interiors
MoreWe stayed here for 4 nights. We were also given a pass to travel around the area for free on train and bus within lucerne. The hotel location is very strategic and near town. It is also within walking distance from the lion monument. If you walk behind the hotel and up onto the clock tower, you could see the town view from a higher ground which is beautiful. The room is cosy with no window but a big door to a small balcony to allow ventilation. There is a fan provided in the room and no aircon. This was fine since at night it was still quite chilly although it was summer. There is no water boiler in the room, but we could go to hotel ambassador through 2nd floor to get hot water, coffee, chocolate drinks or tea for free. The toilet has a bath tub and hair dryer. The breakfast has a limited warm food selection (the only warm food is boiled eggs and masala flavoured instant noodle).Overall it was a comfortable stay.
MoreThis hotel is in a great location (within walking distance from the train stationand we were able to check in early (11am)!! The room was nice and clean and had a nice bathroom. The free breakfast was great and the staff was very friendly. We definitely recommend!!!
MoreGreat Room, with nice amenities. Breakfast had limited options but was good overall. Location is the perfect place to be to explore the sights in Lucerne. Parking is conveniently located nearby and is les expensive than many in Europe.
MoreWe lived here early summer 2016 and enjoyed our stay especially during Luzern Festival. On the edge of old town to roam around and still fairly quiet place. Free breakfast that was open till 11am made our excursions much easier not to waste time in looking for place for breakfast or even lunch. Rooms and decor is modern and good view of the city from balcony.
MoreThe rooms were a bit small but very clean and well maintained. The staff was very helpful. The restaurant is one of the best with different kind of drinks and food.
MoreThe hotel, situated just a moments walk across the lake from the station, is a nice place to stay for those who plans to spend a few days in Luzern or surrounding area. The room was in adequate size for 2-people budget accommodation and the staff were all very nice, friendly and helpful. The room, the bathroom, the bed were in good conditions. The breakfast was excellent for its price (includedand the two complementary bottles of water PLUS two welcome drinks was a nice courtesy. The location was convenient and did not cause us any trouble to navigate nor did we feel unsafe. The wifi was also in good working condition. If you can walk a bit, have time for the buffet breakfast, and does not need huge space, this is the place for you.
