A 2-minute walk from Gare de Nice-Ville train station, this unassuming hotel is also a 15-minute walk from a sandy beach. The simply furnished rooms offer double-glazed windows, as well as desks, free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs.A breakfast buffet (surcharge) is served in a bright, modern dining room. There's also a relaxed lounge with a TV, as well as a meeting room.
Room was very big for three people had two extra beds! But room was not as clean
The worst hotel Ive ever visited
Very friendly reception staff, but aside from that the hotel wasn’t great. Quite expensive, not clean, bathroom door didn’t close and the shower doors didn’t shut completely so every time we took a shower there would be a small puddle waiting for us on the floor.
Paid quite a bit of money for a room for two nights. The room itself was pretty plain but clean. The bathroom seemed about 30 years older and like it had been forgotten during a renovation. A shower cabin that was missing doors and instead of that had a strange dirty shower curtain hanging in its opening. The bathroom door was very run down wit chipped bits. The door into the room itself had very dirty marks on it, which wasnt surprising as it had been painted with wall paint. It also jammed immensely and could not be closed quietly.
Used this hotel as a bag storage close to the Nice Ville train station. Approx. half the price of the actual station. The young man who took the bags in was extremely helpful and polite. The young lady who gave them back was just as good. They clearly have very good staff. Pity I wasnt staying there.
Good hotel, clean, locating 3 mins from the main train station. Good for one night stay.
Top
Super
Location was really good –right next to railway station.Room was quite small, laud and not well planned (power socket in the toilet or down on the wall opposite to bed).Besides, we had an issue with towels: as we took 2 nights and didn’t want clean up, also kept our towels hanged on the wall (meaning: no towel change needed), still cleaning lady took our towels and didn’t provide another ones, so basically for the second night we stayed without towels. We came to the reception desk to ask for the towels, receptionist marked it, and nothing happened afterwards. We had to ask again and again until we got 2 small towels.
It is ok
We stayed at this place for 2 nights, and BEWARE: THE PARKING LOT IS NOT THEIRS AND HAS ADDITIONAL COSTS! My brother drove around looking for parking, and dropped me off so I could ask where the parking was licated. The receptionist was very sweet in telling me it was connected to the train station, but not the actual train station itself because the actual train station parking was too expensive. I dont know what that means as theres only one parking lot in the area and its the one connected to the station, but for both nights we were there we were fortunate enough to find free street parking (street parking is pay parking from 9am-6pm, and we came back after 6pm and left before 9am every day), so if you can manage street parking, then its well worth it and good luck! The room was rather large, where we had one bedroom for my brother and another double bed room for my mom and myself. There was a huge dining room table in our room with 4 chairs, which was honestly a really nice use of space. We were on the top floor, so the ceilings were slanted, but that was fine. The place was slightly dusty, where its clear they may need to vacuum or sweep a little more between changes. The air conditioner did not work, and when we asked, the front desk explained it was only a heater for the winter and spring months. Didnt make much sense to us, as being on the top floor meant it would accumulate heat. My mother hated this place for that reason alone. I was ok with opening the windows, but our window was stuck mostly shut due to a curtain rod in front of it preventing much use of the actual window itself. For the location, its perfect if youre going to and coming from anywhere by train. Its hard to find as the little green awning gets drowned in the sea of shops around it, but honestly, its fine for the 60€ per night that we stayed. The room came with a small fridge which was a little dirty, and also had a hot water kettle that had clearly seen better days. The confusing part was they had a sign saying hot water kettles were available upon a 10€ deposit so Im not sure why we had one. Plenty of plugs, the light fixtures we well placed but our lamp was out (didnt effect us). The beds were comfortable enough, and with the windows open, it was at decent temperature. I would not suggest this to friends looking for a multiple night stay, but for one to two nights this place is passable. One star for location, one star for the size of the room, and one star for having a dining room table and a fridge. The parking and cleanliness cost it two stars.
Not a bad hotel in budget
Only left a bag with nanny bag but the reception man was pleasant and efficient
Just awful, the attitude of the staff is very bad !!!!!
I didnt stay there but use their luggage storage. All perfect and the staff at the reception was super friendly with a smile and helpful.
Booked through booking.com but I had to depart this hotel immediately after seeing the room. I dont demand much from a hotel. I am not picky. When I travel, I usually only need a place to sleep at night while I spend my time exploring the destination. However, this place was absolutely unsuitable for even sleeping. Bedsheets felt dirty and had hairs on them, there were food pieces on the floor and someones fingernail! They had not cleaned under the bed in months (based on the amount of dust). There were holes in the walls and corners, clearly made by bugs. Neither booking.com or the hotel could provide any refund; the hotel didnt even reply to my contact attempt. My advice is to avoid this place. I cant believe the good reviews here are sincere.
Horrible experience - avoid at all costs.Booked a room, chose to pay at the facility, but they took money before the trip from personal account. Would not answer phone calls. The rooms are trashed, no room service, constantly can hear trains, heating does not work and hot water works for 2 minutes at a time.
Very cozy, very clean and perfect choice for your vacation. The staff are super helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend this hotel.
Good value for money, clean and easy to access. Good service as well.
This hotel is in an extremely dangerous part of Nice. Avoid it at all costs.
Lovely place friendly staff bedroom is well big enough great location doesnt deserve a two star rating thats for sure
go there if you want an unpleasant stay with very very rude manager.Different room condition with booking, no compensation and no apologies. The staff never communicate each other. They never process your claim.Extremely annoyed and upset.
Budget hotel as you can imagine but I had a nice time there its situated in the city centre so everyting is more or less in the walkimg distance. You have a 2 backerys in walking distance of less then 3 minutes. The only downside is that there is a semi bussy road trough the window but I had no problems sleeping.
Poor service. Receptionist is very rude, ignorant, and not helpful... I would never revommend.
The room is decent but they said they had parking and they did not so we spent 2 hours trying to find parking and they were not helpful at all.... Good location but really could have better staff.
I had a good and quiet sleep on perfectly hard mattress, great sleep. Hotel for its value is perfect for short stay ex 1 or 2 nights. Room has got AC too. Night Receptionit was friendly and informative
Not so good hotel. We have very small room for two persons. The price was not so big. Hotel is near railway station. So you can hear train from your room. Beds was very comfortable. In the morning we was waiting long time for elewator.
Super affordable, nice room with a balcony. Friendly staff as well to someone who has bad French. Across the street from the train station so it was really easy to find and plenty of food around. Only concern was really soft mattresses which I personally dont like.
Although the location is great, rooms are not as described. Starting from the view from the window which is very disappointing as you see a bridge and at the moment there are construction works which you can hear all day long. Gladly we bought some ear plugs and problem was solved. However, the room is next to the lift and apparently the walls are so thin you can hear anybody walking outside the room or opening their wardrobe in the room next door. The size of the room is quite debatable as its very small - just right for spending the night I guess if thats all you need. In the bathroom you can find a hairdryer. The safe in the room is quite useless as theres no instruction and reception staff didnt even bother telling us about that. Also, the reception staff does not speak English very well and didnt seem so much friendly. Just gave us the key and number of the room, didnt mention anything about other facilities in the hotel. Nevertheless, there is NO FREE service for holding luggage, you will need to pay 6.00€ each if you want to leave the luggage here after check-out. However, I asked for early check in and they accepted to having us checking in two hours earlier. In the hotel theres no so much to do really, I didnt find any toilets or plugs to charge your phone. Shame because the location to places is excellent.
Room is tiny, next to the lift and facing main street. At 5 am there was a cement truck working on expanding station. Impossible to rest.Drawers not clean, shower broken, bed (if one calls it that- is a cheap mattress on wooden blocks. We had to escape after one night!!!Luckily, next door lovely 3stars hotel offering twin room with balcony, fridge, bathtub, spacious room and QUIET only for €6 extra p night.Lucky escape!!!
Poor experience ..from the customer service provided from the walk in moment to the room conditions all was wrong and broken ...bed poor ..toilet shower curtain holder broken ..the chap at the counter rude manners to my wife when approached and explain the problems when in fact she was extremely polite and carefull to avoid any misunderstandings on account of the language ..the noise coming from the works being carried outside provided a sleepless night to both of us ..higene wise low marks ..from hairs to dust a bit of all ..furniture ?dont even go there . Heating ? Not even with the heater at 30+ we avoided the cold ..room next to the lift exit thus throughout the night we could hear people coming and going ...we end up staying one night ...when explained the problem we were told they would keep that night staying money and refunded the rest of the staying and invited to look for another hotel if we thought that would be a better choice adding that our review would not matter and were irrelevant because the way we booked the stay on line ...quite arrogant and disrespectful little man !!..we did and we found a lovely hotel nearby twin room ..very affordable..in fact 6 euros difference in pay rate and a fantastic customer service ...in conclusion hope that our poor experience can somehow push the management of hotel de berne to pay attention to every customer and learn how to provide a standard service ..what we received was bellow standard ..I am sure other customers may think differently and left the place happy ..we did not and definitely will not return . Regardless of the affordable prices hotels being 1 or 5 stars have a duty of care towards the customer. Judging by my experience (hopefully was a one off for bothhotel de berne does not even deserve a 1 rate star
Clean and great location! Bed a bit warn but still comfortable. Small space perfect for short trips involving a lot of outside activities. All in all I recommend it for convenience and short stays
The staff was great. But unloading our car was a challenge people mad for no parking Neighborhood was iffy but was we walked around we felt ok .Hotel is old and tiny
Strategic place, very close to big train station. Price reasonable. Easy to find food, shopping street. Unfortunately rooms in top floor got the low ceiling
The room and bathroom were clean. the shower curtain was not functional. Reception was lip service only and not friendly. I forgot my charger in the socket and when I later asked, I was told: "We dont keep chargers, we throw them in the garbage." Duh!!! The view was awful, over a noisy construction site. I found that the rate was above and beyond what I paid. There are tons of hotels around the train station!
Great location and clean has elevator for luggage
Very competent personal. Speaking english fluent. Breakfast as a buffet was more than enough. Typical french with Croissant and stuff. Room was clean and nice. Perfect for a short visit
Hotel good for not more than one night or young travellers
We visited in September and paid 79 euros for a three bed room (got upgraded for free to a 4 bed room). Everything was ok, nothing fancy. The location is nice, the city center is in walking distance. Im giving only two stars because I explicitly searched for a place to stay with parking available. Hotel de Berne advertised there is parking available but what they mean is the public parking 500m away, where we had to pay an extra 50 euros. For that reason I would not visit again. If you dont need parking, the place is ok.
huge room. Very clean. Bathroom a bit small but workable!! Very reasonable prices especially for what you get. Good service
Great location, close to station and the shopping district. Suitable for budget shoppers.
A clean place, good breakfast for the price, the people working there are not the most friendly but still acceptable
Great localization. Room was very small and in general hotel is not very modern. For this price I would expect a bit more.
Average place to stay Im sure there are better places to stay
small rooms no air conditioning fans that dont work no wifi would never stay there again i will be looking for anywhere else but there
Our reserved room was already sold for someone else
Lack of maintenence, broken showers and toilets. Noisey trains and blue lights light up the rooms at night with no curtains.
Good, not too expensive hotel. Near the train station. Loudly.
A group of us were staying at this hotel, within half an hour we experienced so many issues and the receptionist was so rude. There was flooding within the rooms and the lights did not work as well. Many rooms had no air conditioning and it was at least 35 degrees heat (one of the girls got heat stroke and had to go hospital). Personally, I would never even consider this an option. Take my word.
Wouldnt stay here again even if it was free. TV doesnt work, light fixtures missing bulbs, showers drain clogged so you have to shower for two minutes before floor floods. Holes in walls with pipes and wires exposed. Bedding seems to be from the 80s and no AC.
