Hotel Walloon in Petoskey

My husband and I stayed this Labor Day weekend at the hotel Walloon !Our experience was beyond phenomenal! We willDefinitely come back at your hotel! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience

Beautiful property, excellent service. Great location for doing water activities on a quiet lake. Very kid friendly - beach area with shallow water, hot tub, park on other side of street, constant snacks in lobby.

I travel a lot and I can say without question that the staff at Hotel Walloon is beyond spectacular!!! Every aspect of our stay from check in, bar, breakfast to housewas perfection. I will definitely be back!!!!

The first time I drove past this hotel I thought, “Wow, I need to stay there someday!” Since then, I have visited twice and each time was a delight. The rooms and common areas are beautiful and the staff is wonderful. I already have another future visit booked.

We spent a wonderful two days at the beautiful Hotel Walloon this week. The service we received was impeccable from the moment we arrived until our departure. All the staff were friendly & helpful. They went above & beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. The hotel itself is gorgeous, every detail taken to perfection. Its a place to relax and enjoy the surrounding beauty. Dinner at the Walloon Inn was delicious and a perfect way to end a glorious day.

It’s truly a perfect experience from arrival to departure. In such a hectic and chaotic world, this is the most peaceful and beautiful respite. Hotel staffs ALWAYS say to let them know if there’s anything they can do to make your stay more enjoyable, but this staff does it!!!! Everyone of them is truly amazing. The staff at Hotel Walloon and the Walloon Inn are the most kind hearted people. We had a short notice wedding and they were able to accommodate and make it the most beautiful day. We couldn’t be any happier with our experience. They treated us like royalty. We are so thankful and will definitely be back for an anniversary.

This is our favorite hotel to stay at when were up north. The staff treats us extremely well, and always remember us from our last stay. The personal attention they give us is unmatched.Were always with family when we visit and they have a wonderful billiards room to entertain in. Theyre also a short drive from Petoskey and Boyne City, which are filled with lots of activities, shopping, and restaurants.We love Hotel Walloon, and will always choose them as our place to stay!

I snuck away to Northern Michigan for a writers retreat. From the moment I walked in, I was floored in the best of ways. Everything there is new, modern, but has a feel of a hotel thats been soaking up hundreds of years of history. Its hard to describe how amazing it was walking in for the first time.The large fireplace off of the lobby has seating on both sides. The back side, with a view of the lake is where coffee and snacks are put out during almost all waking hours (well, the hours I was awake). It was too cold for me to check out the back patio properly, but they featured fantastic views of the lake, large chairs to lounge.Now I have to talk about staffing... I gave this hotel five stars, because I cant give more than that. For a busy place, they really make you feel at home. I gave my name once, and was greeted by the dedicated employees there by name. It blew me away. The bartender that comes on staff at 5pm fixed me a drink... I put it on my room and told him my name once. He remembered me by name and drink the rest of the time I was there. Thats just one example of many!As busy as the hotel got during the writers retreat, and a bunch of introverts getting into shenanigans, it was an amazing experience that felt laid back, comfortable and relaxing. Ill be bringing my wife and kids with me this summer, so we can explore the area more.If they do the retreat again, I hope its at Hotel Walloon, because thats where I want to stay next time!

This hotel is exceptional. In a world of busy anonymity, Hotel Walloon and the excellent staff offer a place to slow down, experience little luxuries, and unwind with personal attention. The fireplace is cozy, particularly during the winter storm we experienced. We loved the nice touches including the boardgames, frequent snack and beverage offerings, and incorporation of modern technology like Alexa music playing following the nightly turndown service. Will be back for sure!

I didnt stay at the hotel but I photographed a wedding here and it was absolutely beautiful! I love how there are so many different options to host your wedding on their grounds, absolutely a wonderful waterfront space and definitely recommend!

We came for a quick night away for a special occasion shortly before Christmas. It was a smash success, straight out of a Hallmark movie set. The service was tremendous. The room was sparkling clean. The coffee machine and snacks in the lobby were great. It was precisely what I was looking for. A+++

Turkey day getaway. First time there. What a place!. Better customer service than most 5 star hotels. Excellent venue, all geared to the customers satisfaction. 4 courses of "snacks" throughout the day. Walking distance of a general store, 2 restaurants, post office as well as historic Hemmingway hang outs. Short drive to Petoskey for shopping and dining. A must see and stay if wanting the Nothern Michigan "experience".

A beautiful gem. Cozy, comfortable with 5 star amenities and service. Has an old world charm where u can relax, enjoy and take in the beauty of #puremichigan. Highly committed to customer service and excellence. A beautiful oasis tucked in the woods.

This is an AWESOME facility! If you are looking for an individual experience, 2nd to none, this is the place. A very cozy getaway where the staff treat you like royalty. Very worth the trip!

We booked Hotel Walloon for our wedding weekend and I can honestly say every single employee went above and beyond to ensure our wedding weekend was absolutely perfect and it was exactly that! Emily Jensen and Lydia Reynolds did a phenomenal job of coordinating our perfect wedding at the hotel. We were equally impressed with the high level of service, attention to detail that was emulated by every member of the hotel staff. As beautiful as the property is the professionalism and kindness the staff showed took the experience to another level. Words cannot express how thrilled we were with our entire wedding weekend, thank you Hotel Walloon!

My husband and I first stayed here when it first opened, and have returned each year. We look forward to our summer vacations on the lake and our weekend getaways in the winter. The staff is always accommodating, professional, and welcoming. For us, its not just about the first class accommodations, its all the little things, like greeting you by your name, the yummy food service 3x a day, and the attention to detail. We even over heard a small staff meeting one morning, and a comment was made "make sure we have enough chocolate chip muffins because the little girls in room XXX really like them" Thats what keeps us coming back, you get treated like your visiting friends, and they want to make your stay perfect....

My husband and I first stayed at Hotel Walloon in October of 2019. We traveled there less than a month after getting married, and as we both are teachers, the most immediate time off for a honeymoon of sorts that we could muster was the first weekend in October. We were drawn to Hotel Walloon out of a love for the Northern Michigan Hemingway wrote about and neither of us having much experience visiting or traveling that part of the state. We thought we would mostly use the hotel as a sort of "home base" from which we could venture into Petoskey and Harbor Springs, and take our first trip through the Tunnel of Trees and up to Legs Inn, crossing off the area "bucket list," so to speak. While we did all these things, we more so found ourselves immensely enjoying spending time just relaxing in the beautiful Hotel Walloon lobby, utilizing the outdoor spa, walking along the dock or beach, or enjoying an expertly prepared drink, particularly by Chris. At the recommendation of the staff, we also had the three course dinner at Walloon Lake Inn, as well as a meal at Barrel Back. Moreover, we loved the breakfast offerings that we could enjoy each morning before heading out to explore the area, the snacks and hors douevres during the day, and especially the desserts to complement a beverage by the beautiful fireplace at night. I would be remiss if I didnt mention how lovely the bathrooms heated floors were, especially after the time we spent outside admiring the fall colors. The lake and surrounding areas are a splendor in the fall! Although we could see how the history and beauty of the area would be worth the trip any time of year. Overall, everything about our experience was impeccable - the cleanliness, service, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, dining options, and atmosphere. We loved it so much we returned this past fall (2020and even with Covid restrictions, our experience was nothing short of wonderful. Truly, it is an unparalleled experience, and has quickly become one of my favorite places, and areas, to visit. Thank you!

I recently planned a wedding at Hotel Walloon for the first time, and I was blown away by hospitality and attention to detail of the staff. As a planner, hospitality is the most important thing a hotel/venue can provide and the HW staff go above and beyond. They were truly on our team through the entire event and when problems arose always had a positive attitude and worked with us to find a desirable solution.Lydia, Emily, Lindsey and the rest of the staff are some of the best in the business. At a time when most businesses are struggling to find good staff, Hotel Walloon boasts a very impressive group, starting with Kelsey. They went above and beyond to make sure my stay was enjoyable and memorable. If there were more than 5 stars, I’d give them. I can’t wait to come back one day soon! 💜

First time staying at Hotel Walloon to celebrate our 33rd. wedding anniversary. Our experience was phenomenal! From the beautifully landscaped gardens, to the picturesque Walloon Lake along with charming town of Walloon Lake, it was the perfect weekend getaway. The hotel was lovely, providing gluten free options for breakfast pastries, snacks mid day and decadent desserts for cocktail hour. The rooms were aesthetically pleasing, very clean and comfortable. Friendly and accommodating staff made our stay a delight! We will definitely be returning.

Just returned from another WONDERFUL stay at Hotel Walloon. Truly, our favorite place to stay - anywhere. Phil, Emily, Merri-Sue, Owen and the entire team at our ‘home away from home’ are the best in the business. They define what it means to create a positive experience. Need a chair? They find it. Need a firmer mattress, they fix it. Want to stay another night? They make it happen. Make you feel like you are their top priority at all times? They do it. All with kindness and a smile. A ‘must’ place to stay if you are visiting northern Michigan.

There are very few hotels left that offer the highest level of customer service like Hotel Walloon. From the decor down to the toilet paper, every detail was carefully and thoughtfully curated. This was perhaps one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed at!

We visited the hotel for a couples weekend with friends and the hotel and staff did not disappoint. Politeness and cleanliness is everywhere and I cant think of a bunch of people so eager to see you enjoy your stay.Im sure if youre looking at staying in this area you already know how beautiful it is in northern Michigan. Also, there are some really good breweries and wineries if youre into those types of libations.Two nights was not enough for me so Ill be back again to visit real soon!

Absolutely blown away by the sublime quality, amenities, and staff at this this property. The hotel’s central location to all the “must-do’s” in northwest-Michigan makes this property even more ideal. Just booked another night!

One of the best hotel experiences I’ve had up north! There were endless complimentary snacks, meals, and beverages. The staff was exceptionally professional and accommodating. They did everything in their power to make our stay wonderful. The rooms were beautiful and very well kept. Classical music plays in your room as you enter, and the views are exceptional. Our overall stay was fantastic.

Loved our recent stay. ❤️ Sitting by the fire, eating our breakfast, evening appetizers & desserts with a cup of coffee. Also enjoyed the outdoor spa/hot tub. The friendly service and cleanliness is top notch. We enjoyed the two restaurants near the hotel, Barrel Back & Walloon Lake Inn.

Amazing staff. Beautiful hotel, would happily spend a week here. The local restaurants had amazing food and their staff was friendly and exceptional as well! We had the best little romantic get away weekend here can’t wait to do it all seasons!

If I could give the Hotel Walloon 10 stars, I would. Exceptional service! This beautifully decorated historic inn welcomes you with open arms. Your every need is not only attended to, but thoughtfully anticipated. No detail is overlooked from the crystal ring stand next to the sink, the throw blanket for keeping you cozy on the porch, the heated bathroom floors, robes, slippers and even binoculars for lake viewing and star gazing. I would highly recommend a ground floor lakeside room. It has a walkout patio right on the waters edge. We were just there last weekend so it was cold. The patio is shielded from the wind and has an electric overhead heater. Such a nice surprise. We really enjoyed the Christmas decor. I think I took about 1000 pictures. The huge double sided fireplace adds to much warmth and ambiance to the gorgeous lobby. There are always snacks and drinks available for guests. My favorite were the raspberry scones...delicious! Things were a little different for our stay due to Covid restrictions but we felt very safe and comfortable. I cannot wait to go back during "normal" times. I dont know how they could be even more accommodating, but it wouldnt surprise me. I have stayed at beautiful properties all over the world and Hotel Walloon just made my Top 10 list!!

Regretfully we only spent one night here. The staff was exceptional. The decor is very well done. The hotel is well appointed and the rooms are clean, comfy and quiet. Then there’s the great view of the lake. Would stay here again in a heart beat.

Staying at this hotel has been consistently incredible! The customer service here is parallel (if not betterthan the Ritz Carlton or any other top rated hotel in the country - sincere, attentive, friendly, and thoughtful! Kelsey helped us book a special dinner reservation and even placed flowers in our room after hearing of devastating health information about a family member. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Outstanding. The service and setting is perfect. Beautiful view of the lake, quite spaces in the lobby to sit and enjoy a drink and some snacks or just people watch. The staff is extremely helpful and pleasant.

Hotel Walloon did not disappoint! My husband worked with Amanda (employee of the hotelto arrange a surprise birthday stay for me. Amandas customer service was beyond superb....she picked us up at the Boyne airport, checked on us throughout our stay, drove us to the spa at Boyne Mountain the next day, along with a pick-up and drop off at the airport. We felt as though we had a personal concierge! She was sweet and kind. We were traveling with another couple and both had waterfront rooms. The hotel and rooms are appointed beautifully, the linens and towels were wonderful...the list goes on. We had a beautiful covered porch with rocking chairs...accompanied by beautiful weather. We sat on the beach with our friends and took in the scenery, which lead to a pontoon ride on Walloon Lake. It was such a great day! We dined at the Walloon Lake Inn and enjoyed a delicious meal. Thank you Hotel Walloon, thank you front desk staff, thank you management and thank you Amanda! We will be back!

Very nice, clean well maintained property. Every employee we encountered was very friendly and helpful. Rooms are wonderful with some nice extra features including heated bathroom floors. Lakeside view was great. Will be back!

This place was top notch. The concierge treated us like royalty. They have free snacks throughout the day that were truly gourmet. They werent the cheap snacks just because they were free. The room was beautiful but the people that work there really make it a wonderful experience. They even managed to order and pick up a surprise birthday cake for my girlfriend and had it brought to our room. Just above and beyond. 100% would stay again.

Hotel Walloon is a lovely place to stay, with great amenities and a genuinely friendly staff. We stayed for five nights thanks to photography work we had in the area. One of our clients booked the hotel, and we are so glad we did. Steps from a few local gems. While the area filled up with seasonal visitors, we headed out to work every day. But it was a beautiful place to return to after a long day on locations. We would highly recommend.

Customer Service is like no other. I was completely impressed by the entire stay. The accommodations were beautiful, the service was impeccable They took extra care to make you feel welcome, I recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience a 5 star service hotel. They went above and beyond the normal 5 star service, and I have stayed in many who claim 5 stars. This experience is one I will always remember and will definitely be back with friends and family.

The clean and comfortable guest rooms, unique public spaces (including a billiards room, sauna, and library), and friendly staff made our trip highly enjoyable. The rooms have all the amenities you might need, with great views to boot. We also used the Talcott event space across the street for some meetings, and enjoyed catered meals from Barrel Back restaurant, which are both operated by the hotel. They took very good care of our group throughout our stay.

My husband and I stayed (againat Hotel Walloon this past weekend. We appreciate this place so much we made a reservation before we left to stay next summer. The staff are so kind and friendly. They are all very knowledgeable about everything from the surrounding area to the drink being made for you at the bar. We highly recommend Hotel Walloon!

A charming hotel right on the lake. From the moment we first walked into the lobby, we were greeted by the staff and checked in with ease. We had a room with the lake view. The room itself was beautiful, the small details were quite appreciated. I did notice they would display small items around that were from local businesses. For example, a lip balm and a sample of fudge from the store across the street.The staff was so attentive and ready to help and Chris went out of his way to ensure we After dinner we enjoyed a glass of wine in the billiard room. Because it was raining we couldn’t enjoy the outdoors so much but the hotel grounds looked very well maintained.It was such a pleasure to visit and would certainly recommend this hotel for couples or families

The staff was outstanding! They were very attentive and helpful. Also the building itself is very high end and tastefully decorated. Our room had a great balcony with views of the lake, a comfortable bed, nice shower and heated floors. Also they had free coffee drinks and snacks in the lounge all day. Also if you want to rent a boat the dock is literally right next door. Highly recommend!

My mom and dad were recently at the Hotel Walloon and they cant stop talking about how wonderful this hotel was! The staff was so helpful and friendly and the rooms and lobby area were beautiful! The daily continental breakfast and daily hors doeurves were delicious and beautifully presented. Everyone & everything at the hotel & inn was phenomenal during our wedding anniversary trip: the valet Jakob greeted us by name when we pulled into the hotel parking lot Friday evening and assisted us with our luggage, Kelly at the front desk greeted us by name and asked how our drive from Ann Arbor was when we checked in Friday evening, Chris at the hotel bar made us a drink by special request (that was perfecton Friday night, Rebecca provided a lovely turn-down service on Friday night (loved the chocolates & little chap stick she left us!), hotel manager Marc greeted us at breakfast and told us about this history of the hotel on Saturday morning, Brenda did an impeccable job with housekeeping and turn-down service on Saturday, Debra provided us very helpful information on area attractions while at the front desk on Saturday... basically, every single person associated with the hotel and inn provided the highest quality service, and the food & accommodations far exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be returning for our next special occasion!

The hotel is a beautifully decorated place! It has quality workmanship and a staff that is friendly and readily available to provide service. The extra treats offered all through the day are delicious! It has a location on the scenic Walloon lake. We plan a return visit.

Without a doubt, an absolutely amazing hotel! Would come back in a second. We visited during the winter. Plenty of outdoor activities. Great location, close to ski resorts and restaurants. Barrel Back was located next door and was amazing for breakfast and dinner. The heated hot tub was perfect after a long day out in the cold. Couldnt say enough nice things. Hotel decor and staff were top notch.

Hotel Walloon was absolutely beautiful and was perfect for our mom and daughter getaway! It had all of the modern amenities to make our stay comfortable but had the old charm that was warm and inviting. The staff and manager were kind and attentive. The small private beach is perfect for small children or people who have difficulty walking in sand. We loved it and will be back! Highly recommended!
