Ideally located, very clean and tidy and very helpful and friendly staff 👌
Amazing Duomo view from the panoramic room and stunning view of the city from the roof terrace. Staff on reception were super helpful and friendly too. All of the things we wanted to see in Florence were easily walkable from the property. Highly recommended!
Ill repeat my stay in Villani. Great view from the terrace
Before going to Florence, I almost didnt book this hotel bc of some of the reviews, but I am glad I didnt listen, and went with my gut feeling! Hotel Villani was such a great stay! First of all LOCATION! You are literally about 20-25 steps away from the Duomo complex at Santa Maria di Fiore: and within walking distance to everything else, (Piazza Della Republica, Palazzo Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Galleria Della Academia, Basilica of Santa Maria Novellato name a few... and plenty of shops and restaurants. It is an older hotel, (to some people that may be a turn off, to me it was just what I was looking forI traveled to Florence to marvel at the ancient monuments and the areas very old history, so Hotel Villani was an authentic Italian experience, with lots of old world charm; it was perfect for me!! I stayed in room #42, the view was phenomenal, you have Brunelleschis dome and Giottos bell tower right on your face! The room is a good size for an European country; very clean, same with the bathroom. The shower stall is small, and do be careful when showering; the water gets burning hot or freezing cold if you touch the faucet handle ever so lightly. Great water pressure for showering & flushing. The staff is marvelous, super friendly and very helpful! Except for one front desk attendant, they all spoke English. Paulo at the front desk was particularly helpful, he took time to Google pictures of Authentic Florence dishes and recommended where to get them from. He was right on all his recommendations!! One of my favorite recommended by him was called "Peposo" oooh that was excellent! Housekeeping was available daily, they were super friendly and respectful of our property. Plenty of times I left coins of all denominations including 2€ (I dont like coinsall over the night table and TV stand, nothing was ever missing!! We got clean towels after our second night without asking, and I believe every other day after that. Breakfast was fantastic every morning for 7€ if not pre-paid with your booking, and I believe is 5€ if you pre pay with booking. Food around the area can be pricey, you will not find breakfast for 5 or 7€ in the area, so once in a while take advantage of the hotels breakfast!! The terrace is so cute, and the views are incredible!! My one and ONLY complaint was the musty odor you smell down in the lobby as soon as you walk in, its quite strong, However once in the elevator it dissapears. Overall Hotel Villani is a fantastic little older hotel, I would definitely book it again when I visit Florence.P.S. Photos taken from the room window, and a couple taken at/from the terrace.
Wonderful man at the check-in counter. Super friendly and informative. The room has a great view of the dome as well. Good breakfast option at reasonable price. 5/5
Pros - This place has a fantastic location with breathtaking views of the Duomo and the entire city from their rooftop terraces. The rooms are lovely and there is nothing better than waking up with the chimes of the Bell Tower. There are various shops nearby and is maybe fifty feet from the Duomo. The views from the terraces alone are enough for us to return to this hotel.Cons - not the hotels fault, but the bottom lobby space where the elevator smells. However that smell does not exist in the hotel itself so the ten seconds of smell is worth how lovely the rooms and views were.
Very small and cute little Gem of Florence , at 20 metres from the Duomo of Florence ...!!At the fourth floor of this very old building ....Feel very good energies the full floor seem so quiet and safe place to stay ...really appreciate the reception information about the area !!From the terrace there is an amazing view !!Is open for the public and they serve amazing drinks ...A little thing of Florence where I can find very good price for few nights ..and be in the very centre of Firenze ..very good restaurant in the area ...They serve very good Brunch !!
We were supposed to stay here for a few nights during our honeymoon this July.Being US residents, we were unable to travel to Europa as our flight was cancelled due to the pandemic. We reached out multiple times, trying to reschedule for next year (when we would hopefully be able to travel againas we were really excited about staying so close to the cathedral. However, we never heard back.Eventually we reached out to Booking.com, where we booked our stay. They tried to have this rescheduled for us, but they too were unable to get in touch with the hotel. Booking.com ultimately recommended that we reverse the transaction and re-book once the time comes. After we filed a claim with the institution we used to pay for our stay, the hotel simply sent them the original booking confirmation, without any mention of our attempts to reschedule. The claim ended up being denied due to this and we lost over $500.I would also like to mention that all other hotels and vendors we were using for our wedding ceremony in Germany as well as our honeymoon in Italy were very understanding of the situation, and allowed us to reschedule. Hotel Villani was the only one who did not only refuse to reschedule during a global pandemic, but simply ignored us to this date as we still have not heard back.I have been travelling internationally a lot in my life, and never have I had a comparable issue. The cheapest motels along any remote highway show more willingness to work with customers on a $20 stay than this hotel in a tourist area showed for a $500 stay during a global pandemic.
Ok. So. The room itself isnt so bad. The view was fantastic. The terraces have a great view. The decoration has been updated since some of the pictures. Now the downsides. We didnt get housekeeping one day. No big deal, were not typically the ones who need it. The next day however they very much insisted on doing housekeeping. However that required us to leave the keys which locked us out (a previous guest had lost the spares). We ran out of toilet paper after housekeeping had been by, so I went to desk to ask for more. The woman watching TV in the other room apologizes and brought me a stack of paper towels... Like seriously??? Thats just unacceptable. The shower head in that bathroom is also unacceptable. Its dribbling water and rusted through.
What could have been a wonderful experience turned out to be an average one because of a few little things that got in the way.To sum up: perfectly located hotel if you wish to visit the city walking, but avoid taking breakfast there, and make sure to check-in before 8pm because it will cost you an extra 30€.Details below :)Pros:- the view on the terrace is truly amazing- the location is perfect- the room I had was clean- the view from the room on the Palazzo Vecchio was nice- people from the hotel were niceCons:- the breakfast feels a little "cheap", and there is not a wide choice. While breakfast starts at 8 am, they were out of basic stuff like butter and plain yogurt by 8:15 when I arrived. Its not a big deal in itself but its a little frustrating when you pay for breakfast upfront- the terrace is supposed to close everyday at 8 pm. However Ive been asked to leave it almost 1h before because the person in charge had/wanted to leave. Its not a big deal neither, but its a little anoying when late check-in (after 8 pmcosts you 30€, even if you arrive only 30 minutes late (8:30 pmas I did. I feel it should work both ways...- the "bar" is really expensive. Cocktails are billed 10€ while you find them for 6 out 7€ max in the different restaurants of the city. Their rusty supply chain saved me from spending that kind of money because they were out of stock on every cocktail for the time I was there haha :)To be aware of:- the hotel is really close to the main cathedral, and bells start ringing at 7am in the morning. It makes a lot of noise. Get prepared!
Incredible hotel right beside the cathedral. The owner was extremely helpful and the view is to die for. Room condition is particularly clean and well maintained with adequate space.
We stayed one night here. The location is superb and provides gorgeous views to the duomo, not to speak about its incredible rooftop with views also to the duomo. Staff was very friendly, we only get to know Erminio and he was very professional and kind. The room (we payed extra for duomo viewswas perhaps not the most modern, however the old fresco painting in the ceiling and the old-fashioned style made us feel more connected with the city. Finally, breakfast was so nice (free buffetand Erminio made us a cappuccino personally, by the way all products were very fresh. In conclusion, Ill definitely recommend anyone to book here!
Well positioned for visiting the Duomo, but that is about it. Old and rather shabby rooms, lumpy bed, no modern amenities. The price is low and location is convenient = the best I can say about this place. The roof deck could be spectacular with a little attention to maintenance, the view is terrific. Dodgy overall, similar to Hostel but not as friendly as a Hostel. Make sure you do not pay too much.
Very cute hotel for a very competitive price. The staff were helpful and it is in a fantastic location, our room had a beautiful view of the Duomo and the rooftop terrace was even better, you could see almost the whole city. My only complaint is that the area outside is a bit loud due to being in the center of town.
Basic and clean, friendly staff and you tolerate the dated aspect of the place as there can be no better place to sit and enjoy a limited but varied breakfast buffet in Florence. Breathtaking views of Il Duomo and the Campanile Di Giotto. Centrally located so easy to walk to every major site in the city. Recommended.
