5A London St, Paddington, London W2 1HL, Boende
Above a row of local shops, this casual townhouse hotel is a 1-minute walk from Paddington tube and train station (with high-speed Heathrow Express service to the airport). It's also an 8-minute walk from Edgware Road's ethnic and British restaurants. The no-frills rooms all feature en suite bathrooms and include free Wi-Fi.Breakfast is available, and served in an informal dining room.
The hotel room basic but good and spacious, very clean bed sheets , nice pillows and duvet, comfortable bed, nice hot shower. Friendly staff, super handy due to being so close to Paddington station. Close to restaurants and shops. If you go to London for sightseeing and back to sleep, for me its a good priced hotel, I dont mind to have a basic nice room as long as its clean and staff are nice and caring which it was my experience in Sophia Hotel.
Normal
Clean room with everything you need, had a very comfortable stay. Great location. Would recommend as great value for money. Thank you Hotel Sophia.
Uncomfortable bed; no top mattress, so it was painful to sleep there. We eventually got an extra sheet to use as a duved, so we could lay on top of the duved, but a thin sheet gets cold at night.Very dirty all the way, from the entrance to the top floor. A lot of dust, dirty carpets at the stairs and the whole hotel smelled like cigarettes.Window would not close properly, but fortunately it was warm enough to leave the window open.Wi-Fi was bad, only working now and then.No soap and only one towel each.We didnt dare to try the waterboiler, or the breakfast (if it even was served breakfast?), so we went to the nearest café.Avoid this hotel! I had a nice stay, but only because of my boyfriend, the nice weather and the location of the hotel.
Worst Hotel ever. Scariest lets say. Haunted. People got taken. Its the worst hotel ever.
AVOID! Bed bugs in the bed and on the walls. Dirty bathroom. The stuff are aware of the bugs and just laugh.
Wi-fi not working, Hairs in shower & bathroom, Bedbugs, Low-resolution TV, Dirty windows, unlocked doors when locked, Not clean. There were nits on the pillows, ended up not staying there, and went to a 4 1/2 star hotel.
Friendly helpful staff close to tube station clean and tidy room value for money our first time in London
Great costumer service the people at front desk were very polite and friendly we asked for extra pillows and tea and sugar when we arrived they gave us a fan it was clean other than a few skuff marks on the walls the tv worked but wasn’t screwup right there also was a leaky tap but over all it was very pleasant we enjoyed our trip to London and will be more than happy to stay again
wouldn’t even rate it a 1. it is riddled with bed bugs , nits , cockroaches and all kinds of bugs. i stayed here as a last resort and i ended up taking bed bugs back with me and having my whole house fumigated. don’t stay here whatever you do , the staff are aware and just don’t care.
RIDDLED WITH COCKROACHES - YOU CAN EVEN SAY THEM COMING OUT THE BUILDING AND THE STAFF DONT EVEN CARE!FILTHY PLACE
Bed was uncomfortable it smelled my room was not cleaned I left with multiple bug bites. Dont come here.
Filthy bedding, inadequate windows which didnt stop any noise. Two businesses attached to the property were carrying out maintenance between midnight and 4.30 am. The hotel refused to help so I left in the morning. They now refuse to refund! Avoid at all costs!
Great hotel, so comfy and clean, I greatly recommend it
Last resort hotel when all other options are dead in the water. Water feature of constant running toilet. Bring your own mattress cover.Linen looked clean but pillows were completely flat through wear. Floor obviously washed regularly but rest of room dust and dirt well ingrained. Had to tune TV and to be fair the remote was pristine shame the tv was grubby. Hi tech clothes storage of wire rack that gently rocked your clothes as the trains rumbled by. Bathroom 3rd world, no hairdrier and electric extension for kettle and tv. Door to room not fire safe, domestic smoke detector. No fire escape. Stairs steep and narrow and no help with heavy bags to room. Previous occupants through boredom have obviously had wet toilet paper on walls contests that have not been picked up by cleaning staff. In fairness no bites this morning so this hotel is not uninhabitale yet.
Poor service, dirty room, BED BUGS, holes in room wall stuffed with paper, filthy cutlery in breakfast room, stale food
Disgusting dirty place . Awful rooms , Ended up with bed bug bites . Do not book here
My girlfriend and I visited here for New Years Eve. Having read the reviews after booking we were a little nervous and sceptical - we were pleasantly surprised by the great customer service. The room was basic but satisfactory, a plate of fruit and chocolates was delivered to our room. Great location, an easy stroll to Hyde Park and only 1 minute walk from Paddington station. I think the prices were escalated due to it being New Years so was a touch expensive for what we got, but generally very happy and would recommend as a basic place if youre just looking for somewhere to sleep!
To be honest i wouldn’t let a pig sleep here. The street was noisy, breakfast was poor and the beds hadn’t been changed since the last person stayed there. The WiFi did not work and there were strange stains on the walls couldn’t imagine what it was ⚠️WARNING DO NOT STAY HERE⚠️
The ONLY positive about this hotel is the location: right next to the Paddington train station. Rooms dirty, smelly, breakfast poor, windows broken, cold rooms, walls are broken, the list goes on...
Clean and ideal for one night. WiFi didnt work well and breakfast included was kind of poor. However, for the price paid it was okay. Good location.
Reasonable hotel but excellent location and fantastic manager
Had against better knowledge booked three nights, managed to stay one. A kind of place where you wont undress going to bed. Rather the opposite.
Bed bugs on bed sheets and on the walls. Room was dirty. I did not stay the night, asked for a refund but was refused. DO NOT STAY HERE.
We walked out in less than 30 minutes of arriving. Without exception this is the worst hotel that I have ever been too!
Value for money hotel in london.if you are searching for a hotel near Paddington then this is the value for money.and across this location there are plenty of options of the hotels of every kind.just cross hotel Sophia and you will reach hotel indigo.so just opposite hotel indigo there is a lane with a bunch of hotels.
Even after one whole day spent at an outdoors concert in the heat of the summer I felt cleaner than this place... seriously this place needs a deep clean. the Lebanese restaurant opposite is really nice. Tube very close.
This hotel is dirty and there were bed bugs, when I came back home I was covered in bed bugs bumps. Often there were no one at the reception and in the morning no one for the breakfast (we had to wait till 9). Although the position is great.
No really the place if you like to sleep, cause its a very noisy street
Good value for your money. You pay for what you get. We stayed there in March 2018 on the second floor. Bedding and towels were clean and room had all the necessities hairdryer, iron. Breakfast is very poor and the dinning room needs cleaning and new chairs. Staff was helpful and the location is great. I would recommend it to all budget travelers.
I had a room on the third floor, up 6 flights of stairs, and there was loud machinery in the next room which switched on every 10 minutes throughout the night. Hallway permanently occupied by pimps and prostitutes, constant arguments and slammed doors, relentless thudding of beds against walls. The shower was a thin dribble of warmish water. Breakfast was orange squash and white bread. Avoid.
Good location, excellent staff and really cheap. Not so comfortable, instead.
dont book here. just dont. No sound proofing which means you hear the noise of the trains and your neighbors intimate moments. Staff rude or sedated; I dont know. Too expensive for what it is.
This hotel was actually so vile we couldn’t even stay one night of the two nights we had booked. It was grotty and unclean. Facilities were nothing like what is advertised. The bathroom had mould, and the door did not have a lock and didn’t shut so if you’re staying as a couple would be forced to hear your partners business! There were also holes in the bathroom door!Wouldn’t recommend to anyone, would not stay again. Wish I had read more reviews and stayed away. The floor of the room was coming up in one place. So much dust around. “Tea and coffee facilities” was a kettle and some tea bags and sugar packets in a plastic box. Bring your own mug as there are none in the room. I was not comfortable at all in the room, didn’t even want to take my shoes off. Found elsewhere to stay so could be comfortable on my trip to London with my partner. Just don’t stay here. Pay a bit more and go elsewhere.
Not clean, but friendly staff and well priced
We read a few reviews online an have to admit was really worried. Arrived for the weekend and altho hotel could do with a good paint an revamp, we was pleasently surprised, its in a lovely area rooms are very basic with the necessitys, shower sink toilet beds kettle. The guys running the hotel were friendly & helpful
Worst place we have ever been... bitten by the many bed bugs in the bed. Absolutely disgusting. Needs to be shut down. Hotel?? Bad joke!
Not clean ,damaged shower. No hairdryer. At night it is hard to get back into the hotel.( Night bell not working, nobody was there )Couldnt get more toilet paper when it run out.Stuff not helpful.Worst place I ever been!Run!!!
Ugly place not even worth 1 star . Dirty like hell . Bugs in bed . Noisy .
My husband and I had an emergency situation, we needed to be near hospital as our son had been stabbed whilst on a visit , although not the cleanest ,hotel I feel it served a purpose for the night , if they paid more attention to cleaning and a few new interiors this little place could be. Little goldmine as the staff were actually lovely. And perhaps some air con.
WORSE PLACE IVE BEEN TOO! Bed Bugs everywhere.. windows dont even open wide enough. The smell and look of the place was just horrible. No one to let you in when you come back late at night. They lie to you as well! THE WORSE AND MOST DISGUSTING PLACE!!
I had a very bad experience I can only stay one night (thank Godand bedding was dirty and woke filled with bites of bed bugs.
Woke up in middle of night bed was full of BED BUGS!!!!! Spent hours going through infested our luggage now infested with them. Talked to reception politely all things considered and just wanted my money back. He then proceeded to inform us there was nothing he could do since they had no money to give us and the manager dosnt arrive to late in the day. I asked if he could call him so he proceeded to lie and say he never answers his phone till afternoon. This is literally the worst hotel Ive ever been to, so many BED BUGS!!!!! and reception was giving me the run around so they wouldnt have to pay me. They even told me after I complained to them they knew they had bed bugs but never informed me when we arrived there.
It os very bad, dirty, damaged furniture, damaged facilities, no service, noisy, bad air heater, no cooler....,etc,
So the hotel room smelt so bad that no hotels I stayed in has ever done so. Then the heater was not working just blowing cold air. Please do not book hotel in the cold coming months. The staff were rude too! We came home and did not bother to stay and they refused to give the money back after the all it was a smelly hotel, would have been ill if I stayed!
It is OK for budget Travellers.. It is rated as two star by bookings. Com
Rooms werent clean. Dust along skirting boards. Light fixture in bathroom replaced with aluminium baking dish. Rooms smelt like cigarettes. Window open but it looks broken so we were to scared to close it incase it feel and killed someone on the street below. Its alright if you just need a bed for a night but I wouldnt push it too much longer than that. Megabus sleeper was better.
Avoid at all cost has bed bugs! I caught them found out Im allergic to bed bugs and Im swollen!! avoid! Also the receptionist was drunk. In fact he had urinated himself. They didnt give the wifi password even though its included in the package. The bathroom was dirty and when I informed the receptionist about the bedbugs he just waived it as nothing.Youve been warned.
We made the reservation at Hotel Sophia and got confirmation and all booking details. On arriving to the hotel our client found out there were no free rooms at the hotel. After a tiresome trip to London he was refused any services and no apologies were offered. We are deeply disappointed, as the situation itself and the conduct of the stuff were not professional at all.
Disaster. Really. I usually dontt mind budget hotels but this one... well. Never ever going back. Dirty carpets (if its even there), etc etc... oh yeah, and enjoy the breakfast.. if you want to catch a disease.
