Hotel San Gallo Palace - Florence in Florence

Actually the star rating should be 1/2 of 1 star. The appearance of the hotel is deceiving. Upon our arrival things began to unravel. Upon entering our room. It was 79 degrees. The A/C was not cooling and they repaired it with a part. The part did not fix it and it remained like a hot box.The shower did not provide any hot water. The sink provided hot water, but in order to drain it you had to reach under the sink and pull the drain rod.The in room mini bar had not been restocked adequately as there were none of the items that our friends had in their room. To be clear, our friend’s room suffered from the same faulty cooling.AVOID THIS HOTEL.

The staff was lovely. The bed was just okay, and the breakfast was mediocre but filled us for the first half of the day. Location was wonderful! It was only about a 10 - 15 minute walk to get to most of the main attractions.

I give to stars only to friendly breakfast ladies! Hotel itself is definitely not a four star level- rusty bath, scratched walls, missing switch buttons, one missing lamp bathroom, no water pressure in the shower and either hot or cold water. We booked superior double room with balcony, but got classic room with small window.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. I would not recommend for two main reasons: shower water, and WiFi.The water in the shower would constantly alternate from freezing to burning hot, and the pressure would alternate from low to very low. There was not one shower we took that held temperature and pressure for our whole stay.The WiFi was pretty much unusable. Couldn’t even load an email let alone a picture.On the positive side, the staff were friendly and the room in general was ok.

I was not impressed.Decent size room, decent service, they gave us a bottle of sparkling water and a natural one every day... The cleaner wont knock on the door she will just enter, cover her eyes if youre naked in the room, shout and leave...It was half an hour to the Duomo and the other attractions, but at least you can get to the station with a taxi in a few minutes.We havent had breakfast here so cant comment.

FAR from a 4-star hotel- I would avoid for the price for several reasons.The only reason this hotel gets 2 stars is because the nice individual at the front desk. A lot of the issues we had were individual to our room- the room was broken and needed repair (very badly).The water pressure on the shower was extremely low, barely useable shower. Weve been in places with very limited running water in Africa with better water pressure here. Secondly, the water from the sink did not drain- causing water to sit for 2 days straight without any remediation from staff. They informed us it would be fixed but no one came to sort it out.Even worse, and an apparent issue for every room in the hotel, the air conditioning is perpetually on and set at a particular temperature, very cold, unless you ask the front desk to manually shut it off. Then if you want it back on in the future, you have to call back in for them to turn it on again- makes no sense at all.

Really nice hotel, clean and tidy rooms, towels and sheets changed everyday, great breakfast and brilliant service. Fabulous location 👌

Just got back after 5 nights, lovely hotel fantastic staff so helpful all doing a great job, in difficult times with a smile, room wasCleaned every day and was spotless, great location not to far from everything you need to see.Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable in lovely Florence, we will be back.Steve and Jill Bailey.

The absolute worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. They are coping with coronavirus, which is of course a general problem, very badly. Breakfast is organized such that food is shown in a separate room, with small croissants and eggs being the most visible options. Because my wife and I enjoyed the croissants, we were eating mostly croissants for breakfast. The server rudely interjected, complaining that we were eating too many croissants for breakfast, mentioning even the hotels limited budget. If the situation is like this, we will make it very easy for them: they will spare their budget and lose a client. Enjoy your croissants!

This was a very Nice room with a reasonable walking distance to all the squares and churchs. On my honeymoon this was for sure the best breakfast I had on the whole trip. being able to have it every morning while we stayed here was great. The bar down stairs was great place to relax when you are tired and dont want to go out for drink. they even opened a bottle of wine we got else where so we could take it up to the room.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were very clean and stylish.Unfortunately, there were some issues. Mainly being the room being located directly directly above their very loud outdoor bistro.Being that the air conditioning did not work, our only source of ventilation was the large window facing the bistro. The bistro played VERY loud music until 1am every night, even though it closes at midnight.Our choices were either try to sleep next to a rock concert or shut the window and sleep in a sauna. Add that to our "bed" was EXTREMELY firm and uncomfortable made for very little, and poor sleep.Again, the staff was very friendly and helpful & the place is clean. I wish they had put some more effort into the guest that are not enjoying the rock music at the bistro and are trying to get some sleep.

Nice hotel, spacious enough rooms, good cleanliness overall. Downsides: breakfast could use some improvement, wall sockets are kinda scarce and fidgety if you dont have the right power chord. We also had some problems with the bathroom sink drain that werent exactly fixed during our stay. Another thing to point out is that you dont actually have control over your rooms AC. What I mean is if you want it completely shut down, its not sufficient to turn it off from your room, you also need to call the reception. Otherwise theres still a breeze coming from the vents. Other than that, great hotel, nice placement - within walking distance of the Duomo and the other central sights, and very nice staff, especially the front desk, which were informative about local buses and sights timetables. Would definitely recommend, despite all its quirks.

The best thing about the hotel is the staff, everyone is friendly and helpful from the reception, bar, breakfast team and cleaners.They all greet you with a smile and a cheerful greeting.The rooms are spotlessly clean and the beds comfortable.Both the Bistro and breakfast range is limited, but everything is well cooked and tasty.A few small negatives, the room didnt have enough plugs and being next to a busy road the room could be noisy, which the hotel cant do much about.The bath/shower could do with some grab rails for getting in and out, especially when like me your not in the first flush of youth.Its not a bad walk to the centre and the staff make sure you know the way before you leave.All in all a very pleasant experience staying at the San Gallo.

A nice hotel around 15-20 minutes walk from the cathedral and other central attractions. The room was comfortable and they did a lovely job of cleaning the room. We did lose some pajamas in bedding that was taken away, but once this was reported they were not long in returning them. Breakfast was good with a variety of items to choose from. You can ask for freshly squeezed orange juice which was delightful!
