416 Paseo de Martí, La Habana, Cuba, Guines
Long-standing, Colonial-style hotel offering dining, plus a rooftop terrace with a bar & a hot tub.
Horrible service. You have to wait 20-30 minutes until someone comes and takes your order, then at least 40-50 minutes until food is served even thought there are only 3 tables occupied. Waiters just ignore you.
No expectation and still disappointed. Service is beyond acceptable. Just do yourself a favor and don’t go there :)
Had a great stay. Very basic facilities but awesome central location, decent breakfast and breathtaking views from the balconies or the rooftop terrace. The live music always playing in the lobby or outside always helps. Would definitely recommend if you have a bit of a budget to spend and are not familiar with Havana. Great starting point to get to know Cuba :)
Very rude personel. I just wanted to get breakfast there. We were sitting and waiting for half hour, when somebody finally notice us, they told us breakfast is over.
Worst ,expensive hotel everOnly good thing was the coffee downstairs in the morningOne night for 225 dollars was a joke!
Do not go here. They have the worst service. The waiter was rude when I told him that the cappuccino was like water. They made us way too long
We stopped for a beer on the terrace, but there was no beer. The mojitos were improved by the group playing the old favourites and it was pleasant there watching the buzz around Parque Central and the perfectly preserved old cars outside. Lovely.
Just spent time there for breakfastExceptionally rude person el at the entrance, not friendly neither kind or well educated. The man guarding the door was very rude and not professionalThe restaurants beautiful architecture and the pianist compensates the poor quality of the food
Despite its primitive facilities, the hotel keeps functioning airconditions, bathtubes, etc. I had the room with balcony, that one very specuial in the 1st floor, just above the entrance. Very nice interior - old stareways, windows, and so on. Location is marvelous, breakfast is good, and the evening menue of the restaurant is very decent for Cuba. Servces are tidy, pesonnel polite, many exchange decent. And again, great location!
On the cheaper side of the parque hotels but loved it. We’ll be staying again.
It has been one of the worst place Ive ever stayed in. It was from far the dirtiest room Ive ever seen, even though I have stayed at 5$ hostel.. Aircon wasnt working well. The shower wasnt working well. No one came to clean in 3 days. Not even make the bed. I had to ask for a towel. On top of that, the bar on the roof was most of the time closed. The bar/restaurant downstair was only serving cuba libre and beers. No other drink nor cocktail despite bottles visible on the bar. Breakfast was bad. I stayed most of my time in Cuba in Casa Particular, and all of them where cooking a much better breakfast, for two to three time less of the price I paid in this hotel. Also closed randomly during the day whereas it was supposed to be 24/7.Employees were rude.Worst in all of that, is that its not even 20% cheaper than all the other hotel of Parque Central. And I went in all of them to check it it was a norm, or if I just got unlucky in my choice of hotel. I was unlucky.
I need an urgent contact from the Hotel. I have tried all numbers and none work. There are no email address available. Please, let me know how to contact the hotel. I dont need a contact from any agency!
Rooms dirty and bad customer service. No worthy spend money on Cuba hotels Way better Dominic Republic or Cancun
Horrible food and rude staff. Do not go to this terrible place it might look good in some pictures, but it’s not worth your time and money.
I was there in a restaurant inside the hotel, the service was delayed, the sandwich that I ordered was cold, the waitress did not know that the bread needed to service hot with the cheese melted .
One of the oldest hotels in Havana. Fantastic rooftop with live music every night. Good to be there 😉
Lovely colonial architecture amazing at this hotel. Band traditional music . What lets this hotel down is the state if the toilets 😣
It was not very clean and when we found a cockroach in our room and went to the front desk, the woman there wasnt surprised at all and didnt want to help us. There was a lovely man who had helped us with our bags, who finally talked her into giving us another room. Any casa would have been better.
Stayed at this rustic hotel, all was acceptable, but the breakfast is nothing to write about.Rather expensive, but stately. At $200/n, many near I believe would be ok.
Beautiful historic hotel for our last night in Havana before going home. It is Havana’s oldest hotel.Just 3 stars because there were some issues with bathroom access, but it’s been 8 months, so my memory is foggy since we stayed at other hotels during the trip that may have had similar issues. Our travel agent chose hotels in great locations,, including this one. Only one of two elevators was working - not efficient for moving luggage. The bar and dining area was nice.We walked around the area near the hotel and saw some beautifully lit buildings - other hotels, La Floridita, etc. And in the morning, the historic American cars were parked outside (for the tourists of course). We heard that some of our fellow travelers were in smaller rooms (akin to a closet), so we didn’t want to go on about our marvelous corner room with balcony facing the street.
I came here for the drinks only which were cheap and tasted good! This place is open late so ended up being the place to be (along with Floradita which closes earlier). Music was always good and theres plenty of people watching to do.
Beautiful hotel and iconic place in Havana central. However, last week there were no fruit or ice cream or juices. You could only buy coffee. Also internet didnt work.
Haven’t stayed here but really enjoyed their rooftop. Great views and good drinks, which are both hard to find in Havana. Totally recommend.
Con1.The beds are like sleeping on cardboard with mattress spring below them. At least flip or rotate them but they dont.2. No hot water.3. Breakfast is horrible. No taste no flavor even in the pastries. The toaster doesnt work. Table linens are dirty4. The coffee is a mild flavor5. Its honestly so loud due to the live band in the evening.6. No laundry service. Bad deal of your area staying for more than a weekend.Pro1. Location
Great colonial house. The terasse is great to sit and every afternoon and evening there are Cuban bands playing Cuban music. The breakfast is absolutely delicious. Would love to go there again.
Came here for the famed rooftop bar. Wasnt bas! Got there in time for the last of sunset and some great pics of the central park below. Drinks were OK and the band was a bit pushy for tips, like everywhere in Havana.
Great rooftop bar and cocktails only 3CUC up there with such great views! Good lunch menu downstairs too.
I read many past reviews of this hotel and figured it would be a good place to have a nice dinner our first night here. The Dining room was Beautiful and Classic, but the service was slow and confused about our orders, and the portions were quite small for what they were. The Rooftop bar was nice and a cool place for photos, but there were much better places for food during our trip
Loved our visit to this lovely Cuban historic hotel next door to the Opera house and a block from the White house just as you would imagine and like being in a time-warp like something from the 1930s. There was a large orchestra / brass band playing just outside on the street and classic american cars parked, the atmosphere was terrific. This area is really worth the visit and just as you imagine Cuba.
If you do not insist on 5 star service, this is your hotel in Havana. History, elegance and location. Good breakfast too. At reasonable rates.
I enjoy breakfast and accessing WiFi here the most. Its also conveniently located, directly across from Parque Central and a 2 minute walk to Calle Obispo- the heart of Habana Vieja (Old Havana)
Absolutely one of the best location you can get in Havana for a drink. It is on the main square and walking distance to many location such as old Havana or the Melecon. The view on the roof is fantastic. You can get to the roof by using the old elevator. You can enjoy the cigar. Definitely a must do in Havana!
Amazing!!! Perfect location, helpful staff, they have also a nice bar with live music. Also you can find easily taxi outside of the hotel and oposite is a bus station who can make a tour and visit all the sightseeings!
Nice place to have a drink and smoke a cigar outside. Just make sure to bring your own cigars as the staff will not hesitate to sell you fake cigars. (Did not expect that in a hotel like this.. Lesson learned :))
1875 building. Take the stairs and skip the tiny ancient elevator. Classical architecture and great breakfast room and outdoor seating but the rooftop band playing from 9 to12 makes sleeping at that time impossible. No balcony rooms means no windows so really claustrophobic for some. State run hotel so ...
Absolutely best location you can get in Havana. Right on main square. Easy walk to old Havana or the Melecon. Hotel is very historic. Staff were helpful. Ludvig was brilliant and explained about Havana and which directions to go. Loads of old 50s cars outside. You can watch all of them from the hotel. Ludvig will sort you out with one of the best cars for an Havana tour.
We stayed 3 nights here recently. Lovely old character hotel in good location. But.... reception staff unfriendly and unhelpful. Reported our broken fridge twice and nobody bothered to fix or replace it. Could not sleep for the noise of music on roof and street. Breakfast not great. Stale pastries and staff who appeared to be there to chat to each other and ignore guests!
Wi-Fi access, rooftop garden lounge-patio bar with live band. Amazing views of Havana and super romantic, loved it. Will always have this memory there. 😍
We stayed there for a week in a summer a few years ago. Its a old hotel renovated at a certain level. We like the way it is, though. Our room was facing the street which is great to see the city. The location is good, close to the Old Havana and Chinatown. You can use the roof top swimming pool at the nearby newer hotel. If you like the old taste, its good place to go.
Beautiful hotel with charming cafe in the lobby area. Good for cooling down in air conditioned with WiFi access. And you can also take a peek to the rooftop with a view
Lovely looking hotel from the outside and seemingly fairly impressive within, but some areas were rather grubby and in need of some tender loving care. We only came in here to have some drinks which to be fair were good. Service was good and they certainly didnt skimp on the alcohol content.
My favorite place to observe the energy of the Cuba people walking all through the square. The pork steak is very tender and delicious. A life saving if you need a restroom. Has WiFi too.
Staff is rude as hell--expect to stand for several minutes without any acknowledgment at the front desk as staff stares blankly at their computer, phone, random papers etc. Let me know if you are able to get a friendly word out of anyone (exception: bartender was nice and forthcoming with directions around the building.I wish severely that this sad customer service situation were different because the facilities are stunning--especially the rooftop. (Food on rooftop was only edible). Have a sunset mojito and move on.
lovely hotel in Old Havana. Old World architecture and decor throughout the hotel - very colonial style building. Just loved it. Everyone was very helpful, and the location was perfect.
Great view and ambiance on the terrace though they were not serving food on the terrace when we were there. The drinks are well priced and the sandwiches in the open area outside on the ground floor are amazing. A favorite haunt since we stayed close by.
The best part is its location across from the Parque Central, boarding area for the tourist buses (T3 $10 goes on a longer route to the newer city, Colon Cemetery, T1 $5 the beach route). The outside café is a good spot to sit and relax, even if you can never mange to get waited on. Inside, the air conditioning and bathrooms are also welcomed. Great photo spot day and night.
This is a wonderful old hotel (immortalized in Cuba Libre/ Elmore Leonard). We only visited for a drink and to listen to the excellent band who were playing but the lounges were really something special. The service was reasonable and the food LOOKED good. Please ignore many of the ridiculous negative comments from some of the writers here, mostly Americans (burger and chips cold???? - PLEASE!- perhaps the propaganda war is still in full swing as we were told many times whilst we were in Cuba.If you are going to visit Cuba (or any other country that is underdeveloped compared to where you livedo not then complain endlessly about the toilets, the water or lack of air conditioning - this is typically arrogant of the West generally and insulting to the locals in demanding conditions that far exceed what they have to live with.
Given that this is Cuba, the 4 star rating is relative to other accommodation in Cuba and takes into account cold showers, slow service, etc. Great location and (only people who have been in the hotter months will understandgreat Aircon. We stayed here the night before we flew out of Havana, and Im glad we did.
While the setting is stunning, the service wasnt great. Staff would often be polite and helpful, but many times totally uncaring of your problems. Unfortunate incident with some small presents that disappear from my room and after complaining and waiting for 15 minutes they (literallyreappeared on my bed.My room was small, the window or blinds wouldnt open, the bathroom would flood if you opened the taps for more than a few minutes. They make you pay extra for keeping the bags for checkout.Internet was rubbish. You get a 1-hour card for 2 pesos (2 dollarswhich sometimes works and other times doesnt. Wifi connection was off for a day and a half and when I asked what happened or how long should I expect this problem to last, they simply shrugged their shoulders and looked at me like "Why do you ask me? Im merely here at the reception and have no idea about these things".Overall, quite disappointed, will not be staying there again, nor would I recommend it to my friends.
Cold shower - the size of a small trench with no water pressure. Shower curtain 4inches too short (bathroom would flood if you werent careful. Room long and thin - looked like itd been cut in half. Windows /shutters barely worked. Contracted food poisoning eating dinner at the restaurant (6 of us all - and one was a Vegan), staff tried to short change my mate during currency exchange, could not book dodgy meal to room.Place looked great, but take my advice - stay at a Casa.PS: I never complain.
