A 2-minute walk from the banks of the Daugava River, this elegant hotel with buildings dating from the 16th and 19th centuries is 6 minutes on foot from a bus stop, and a 14-minute walk from the Latvian National Museum of Art.Refined, country-chic rooms with exposed wood ceiling beams feature free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, minibars, and bathrooms with heated floors. Suites add separate sitting areas. Room service is available.Breakfast is complimentary. There's an upscale restaurant with a bar, as well as a rooftop terrace.
Perfect place, and people who working there greats!Thank you for delicious dishes and service! We had nice evening!Wouldnt go out from this place!
In the middle of old town.Beautiful room and good service.Close to city centre.
restaurant very good,rooftop view, excellent
Best Hotel in old town
Upmarket, clean comfortable hotel with rooftop restaurant and huge choice of breakfast
Old style (yes, old - 00 style hotel). If you want to feel real "hotel" experience - definetly worth it. Fabulous location and staff.
Good reception staff, helpful and professional . Staff and service at breakfast, especially on Sunday could have been better. Lack of food and indifferent response from staff was not welcomed.
Wasnt even a guest at the hotel, went for the rooftop restaurant. Sadly full, but was excellently and cordially assisted by the reception to find another suitable place for dinner! Definitely will book my next stay in Riga here!
A charming boutique hotel in the old town of Riga along a peaceful alley. We had a business room for three nights during a busy summer week in August. Astonishingly friendly and helpful staff. Quite okay breakfast but no variation and bad coffee. A dinner in the hotels own rooftop-terrace restaurant with beautiful scenery and fluent service is an enjoyable experience!
Beautiful old fashioned hotel with a very good location in the Riga old town. Clean and well maintained, without looking too "designed". I had a singel room on the first floor, but the were no noise or disturbance. Very comfortable beds, with proper pillows and duvet. The staff is very polite and helpful. The breakfast buffet was simple but more than adequate. Will definetly stay again next time I visit Riga.
Good value for money but the air conditioning was not working.
Lovely place, delicious food and excellent service....a la classe!
It was perfect. I love the big rooms and Levs, the host was really kind. He was really decently and the food was great. Shady (11 years old)
We had an amzing stay at Hotel Gutenbergs. We recieved amazing service from Lev in the reception who even upgraded us to a nicer room! We will definitey stay at Hotel Gutenbergs on our next trip to Riga.
Very noisy rooms and appalling bad service from the hotel reception when I was in desperate need of help.Due to the disturbances from noisy hotel guests at 3-00 am in the morningSave your money definately not a four star Hotel at best 2 star and that is probably being generous.Stay away, you have been warned.
My wife and I went to Riga for my birthday and we found the Hotel Gutenbergs on Booking.com. We called them to check availability and Levs answered the phone, and his profession and customer-service oriented demeanor became the foundation for our trip. He was incredibly polite and a true professional (something that is becoming more and more rare today). The building is an 18th century previous German printing house located about 100m from the Riga Dome, so location and environment are beyond exceptional. The breakfast was stellar, and the restaurant on the 5th floor was extremely nice. I cannot say enough good about the staff and their care for the guests. The hotel was completely booked, and Levs and Ilese treated every customer personally and professionally--and intentionally! What other location can you find staff that are history and art majors from their studies that share their passion for this historic city? 5 out of 5 does not accurately reflect this place, and this is now my "go to" place for future trips to Riga.
Excellent service, good breakfast, very helpfull staff. I have never meet such a helping and nice reception before 🙂
We slept in the hotel for 2 days. The hotel staff is very kind and attentive. The breakfast was very tasty. The hotel room was clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
Perfect location for things to do . Great breakfast. Beautiful , clean rooms . Comfortable bed and pillows. Well maintained. Helpful professional staff . Really appreciate this place .
Great location, really cosy and a clean room, but the thing that makes this such a good place to stay is the staff with the man working at the reception especially. Incrediby helpful and generous with his time, advice and trivia. One of the nicest place we stayed.
Authentic hotel from 17th century I believe. Many props setting you in a historical mood. We was welcomed by Gutenberg himself, Mr Lev. He makes the stay much more entertained
According my opinion this is the best choice for tourists. Location is in the very center of Old Town, most of the famous attractions within wolking distance. Very impressive level of the service. Frendly and efficient personnel.
First impression was good. The consierge was amazing and very helpful. Room is clean and romatic. I like tuhat beams are showing. Location very good.
Very beautiful place, very good price.Nice location, very good service. The only thing I didnt like is that there is no smoking area, you need to go down to the first floor. But even that do not affect my opinion that the hotel is very good.Rooms cleaned up very nicely. For this price i thing you wont be able to find something better.
had one night stay and was very pleased with breakfast. Additional thanks to friendly restaurant staff. If You want to stay in 300 year old room this is Your chance.
Hotel in a historical printing house, personnel at reception extraordinary friendly. Close to basically everything in Old Town Riga. Rooms very good, bathroom could need an upgrade. Breakfeast good, but the personnel at the buffet was wearing a constant frown. Yeah well. ......nothings perfect.
The best place to have a perfect stay in the charming city of Riga. Old part of the hotel is great. Personnals are very friendly. Manager is perfect.
very nicely located in the heart of the old city, looking charming and deliciously old-fashioned at first sight, but unfortunately hampered by being left untouched for... centuries possibly. metal bed, bumpy mattress with broken springs, no feather pillows and no duvet. a dozen chairs to sit on but not a single one in enough good shape to sit comfortably, shower in the bathtub with the horrible sticky shower curtain everyone wished was banned years ago from the hotels worldwide. insufficient lighting and badly placed electric sockets too.toiletries and coffee-corner were randomly refilled (or notand products partially used by the previous owner were left for us, such as the (unique!complimentary water bottle that was already opened and drunk from.I also read tremendous reviews of the breakfast buffet, and I found it very disappointing: the choice of food is very limited, and it lacks flavour and quality (fruit juice is thinned down with water for example).lets mention the kindness, friendliness and efficiency of the reception staff though, that happily balance the breakfast staff who never returned a smile nor a greeting.
Friendly staff, good proximity to town square and decent breakfast. But it was very noisy throughout the night, and the decor is very dated. Some reviewers have described it as quirky and chintzy - for me it felt grubby and badly in need of an overhaul. I was also awake until 3am thanks to a bar or club nearby playing thumping bass during the night. You can’t really open the windows because it’s noisy and there are people smoking in the street outside, so the room feels stuffy. And I don’t think the cleaning standard is the best - we found someone’s hair grip on the floor of our room and outside the room there was a vase sat on a badly stained lace doily. Finally, we paid for a junior suite room and it wasn’t a junior suite, it was a large standard bedroom. So not great, I must admit I’m a bit mystified by all the super positive reviews about the place...
This is an excellent hotel in the center of the old town. I stayed in the old section of the hotel and found my room rich in decoration, comfort and full with antiques . The front desk helped me to find me meeting place and booked taxi with reasonable price. The view from rooftop restaurant is worth to see and offers delicious lunch and dinner. Breakfast has much variety and found fresh baked items. Bathroom and room was very clean. I would love to stay again.
Lovely old fashioned room. Great reception staff, very helpful well trained staff Thankyou so much for making our holiday in Riga so enjoyable. From England
The hotel is in a good location. So close to amenities. However no lounge area to relax. Suite not a suite. Cleanliness not good..shower curtain filthy not changed in over 1 month..It was changed after complaint but no apology.
What a fantastic hotel, superb location. We stayed in a junior suite. The room was wonderfully warm and full of character with sloping roof and floor. The rooftop restaurant is fabulous. And breakfast was a joy. A word too about the staff. Without exception all friendly and polite. A special mention of Levs, a Dickensian character by appearance who went out of his way to make our stay as good as possible.
This hotel is really great. Stuff is super friendly. Our room was just great. Breakfast also super tasty. Thanks for such cool experience.
We stayed one night in Gutenberg hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of old town, looks very boutique, authentic and quiet. All sightseeing places are within minutes walk, close to bus stops, tram, restaurants and etc. The staff is very polite, helpful with hotel questions and other queries about area around. The room was very spacious, clean, traditional style, comfortable but had odour smell though. The best part of staying was breakfast. Really enjoyed every single bite, as offered Buffet is very traditional Latvian cut meats, cheese, bread, pancakes, fish. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and If I would come back to Riga I would stay again .
Loved this hotel. It is very chintzy and older looking but really comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. It had an excellent restaurant.
Great location and cute decor, yet such a bummer!Room itself was spacious and very nicely decorated, however bathroom reeked of mold, not okay for a 4-star hotel.Sadly restaurant people raved about in the previous reviews was closed for a private event. The biggest issue was the noise level. We could hear everything that’s happening in the hallway and upstairs. Starting 11pm we could hear loud techno music coming from the outside. Party went on well into the night which made sleeping nearly impossible. We asked concierge to call us a cab at a specific time in the morning since we were getting on an early an flight. Cab was not there at the requested time and arrived over 10 minutes late. While Taxify app rate was 8 Euro, we were charged over 20.I get it that hotel is not responsible for cab rates, however you rely on concierge to be a local expert and provide you with an honest and fair advice.
Rooms are big, but most i liked is restaurant on the roof, food was really grate and plus u have grate view to old riga center. Minuse no car park so u have to pay for it but its expensive
FABULOUS! Couldnt fault this place. Clean, comfortable the bed with the soft pillows and bedding was hard to get out of every day. The rooms were spacious and supplied us with enough toiletries for the whole weekend. Staff friendly, breakfast was the best Ive ever had in any hotel in Europe. Old fashioned and quite vintage right up my street. Just loved this place and will highly recommended it!
From all hotels i’ve stayed in Riga this by far is the best and i have stayed in a lot.Its located in historical building on a small, quite street in Old town, B bar is just across, very convenient! Staff is very polite, great breakfast, rooms are small but cozy.Terrace and restaurant upstairs is superb with a great views of old city.Very special hotel.Would love to return!
Nice hotel in the centre of Riga. We stayed for 4 nights bed and breakfast. The hotel was very nice the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was larger than usual with big beams on the ceiling you had to be careful not to bump your head. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Riga .😁
My stay at the Gutenbergs Hotel in Riga was fabulous thanks mostly to the outstanding customer service of Marcis! Marcis was attentive, welcoming, and very accommodating. He knew customer room numbers, quickly brought up more towels when needed, and provided additional bath salts when asked for more than 1 bottle. Marcis was friendly and always had a smile on his face. Kudos to Marcis and other staff members who made our stay at the Gutenbergs Hotel so pleasant!
Located super central and super nice surrounding! Good and various items at breakfast, tasty coffee. Comfy rooms, comfy beds, friendly staff. Hotel is originally old and full of historyBecause the hotel is old you can hear your neighbour talk, be active in the bathroom etc.very annoying that it was that noisy!!!
This Hotel has a good location within the city , located in a quiet street just metres away from the primary city concourse. The bedroom decoration is a little tired but clean and restful. The hotel restaurant is first class with good quality well presented food. Breakfast was also good with ample choice.
Nice atmosphere that matched a stay in Riga Old Town really well. Central location. Friendly, accommodating staff. Would stay there again. Very slow serving on the rooftop terrace though. And the music playing up there was a bit loud for the space.
Only great things to say about this hotel - very clean room, spacious room, bed was ok. The reception staff and the breakfast room staff were superb - knowledgeable, efficient, very friendly and nice. The breakfast was very fresh and delicious.
We booked room for 4 days in this hotel cause our friends were staying in this place at the same time.. And that was mistake. Price was quite steep but location was so good that I tought why not.We drove to Riga from Finland and first ofcourse we wanted to park our car. Person at counter told us our options, you can use valet service for 18e per day or park 500m away for littlebit cheaper but only from 8-16 and then we would need to change place further away.. We speculated situation for a while and then he said "..or then park the car right next corner for free and 247.. Ok.. Well that wasnt great start. We got our keys and went to our room in 3rd floor and immediately we noticed damp and stuffed air. Full floor carpeting ofc so we experienced 1000 past visitors all at once. Well window open and some fresh air in. Decour was what they advertise, authentic grandma house and thats fine, some people like it. Gladly shower was big and bathroom seemed clean. WiFi worked well all around hotel. Then we went to terrace restaurant for complementary drinks and they had some local beer and wine so that was fine. We wanted to drink some more but waiter never came back to pick order up even that we went to look for him at the counter. Some kitchen staff said that wait a bit, he will come soon. We waited 15min more but he never came.Breakfast was quite good and had nice selection especially sweet stuff. Breakfast place had nice info about hotel history and that was actually one of the best parts of that whole hotel. One final punch for my dissapointment was that when we were leaving, I checked under the bed and inside the drawer that did we leave anything behind. I found pair of sandals, whole big empty bottle of prosecco and bus receipt from 2016.. Really.. 2016! No wonder that there was stuffy and damp air if cleaning was on that level.Im not person who complains about small stuff but for 4 star hotel with this price range overall everything was quite horrible except location.*EDIT* Reply for the owner: Yes i appreciate that you apologize but hopefully you understand that this was not attack to you or your hotel. These sites are made for people who travel/use services and want to know more about that place. How things actually were experienced and not how marketing people presents them. As harsh it may sound but in the end only thing that you can do is learn from made mistakes and trying truly better for next customer. I am not trying to start dialog with you, i am using these sites for how they are ment to be used. Giving fellow travelers more info so they can decide better where to put their hard earn money.
The hotel is very cozy. I like everything here. Good location. Interior of rooms with a touch of antiquity. Good breakfasts. Its a good idea to arrive to Riga late in the evening, stay in this hotel and walk around the city center in the night. Price is reasonable.
Huge and lovely bedroom with beams and sloping floors. Tea and coffee making facilities. Loads of hot water and very clean throughout. Fabulous breakfast. Super helpful staff. Restaurant on roof terrace very high quality and reasonable prices....and right in the town centre. Perfect!
A lovely old hotel with very friendly service and good breakfast. The rooms are quirky and interesting, especially in the old part with wooden beams visible in the low ceiling.
