Hotel Chillies in Roatan

I really enjoyed this place. I think it can be the right choice if you prefer lower prices. The bungalows are truly beautiful and the site as well. It has a shared kitchen so you dont have to eat at restaurants the whole trip.

Stayed two weeks with my daughter to get Padi certified. Had such a great time booked two more weeks before I left. Super clean and safe. Michelle does a great job with both the dive shop and hotel. Super chill, all quiet at 9 but the bars are right down the street. Was perfect! Miss it already.

My expectations were met basically with the price I paid and from the description.Beautiful garden, small convenient breakfast/lunch options, dive shop on site, The location couldnt be any better, by the beach, a short walk to all restaurants. Michele was wonderful she came out to greet me with my name right away at my arrival and answered my questions. My only frustration daily was the keylock at my room door, it was a struggle to turn the key to open the door from outside and lock from inside, it was always stuck either direction everytime, I realized why the old key broke easily at the first turn I made, luckily Michele got tge broken key out and saved my day.I stayed at the main house, cold water shower was great refreshing I would not need hot water anyways. Remember to wear earplugs to sleep, upstairs ceiling walk, construction, bird chirping did wake me up early and did not mind, so earplugs are a must. Bug sprays required, bugs could get into the room, without AC the room was humid all the timesMichele offered super flexibility for payment options, basically too relaxing, no pressure on when you should pay. After many days, I almost forgot to pay my final dives at check out. Suggested to tally up a bill the night before check out slip under room door. Thanks for the reminder Michele.

Ein wunderbares Hotel, direkt am Strand und im Vorgarten mit einer Tauchschule und einem kleinen Cafe. Der Aufenthalt hier hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Absolut Empfehlenswert!

I had a great stay at Hotel Chillies while I was there for two weeks. The location was perfect, easy to walk around the area. A beautiful garden where you can hear the birds, and it was enjoyable to be able to relax in the hammocks. Nice to have a kitchen to be able to cook. The cleaning lady also changed my bed sheets every few days, which I appreciated. They also gave me an extra blanket when it got cold over a few days.The owner Michelle was very friendly and helpful, but I did find the girl who usually worked on reception wasn’t quite so. It seemed like a huge amount of effort whenever I asked her a question, and she wasn’t very friendly towards me at all. I also found it strange when I was getting ready to check out that she came exactly on the check out time to see why I hadn’t left yet. It was putting my last things into my bag and felt quite rushed when she did that. After checking out I had to wait around a little bit for leaving, and could see that they hadn’t cleaned the room an hour later, so I’m not sure what the rush was? A 10 minute grace period at least would have been nice. Other than that an excellent stay!

If your looking for a major resort, to be treated like a guest, served breakfast in bed, and be treated like a tourist this is not for you!BUT,If your looking for a place to be home away from home,If your looking to feel like part of the family,If your looking to be welcomed with open arms…If your looking to have a great piece of paradise, privacy and meet amazing people, then this is 100% the place for you.I have never been so excited to leave a review.This hotel, is nestled in an amazing jungle garden. The cabins are so cute, and have an amazing home like feel to them.Even with no a/c they are so cool, I had to use a blanket.The staff are so friendly and ready and willing to help any time, even with spider removal ;)This hotel is very fair in price, and Michele is amazing. Always quick to respond with any requests, no matter the time.The grounds are very well kept, clean, and the shared kitchen is well kept as well.The fridge is cleaned regularly, and everything you could need is ready and available. If they do not have it, they know where you can find it.

Ein wundervoller Ort!! Saubere, wunderschöne Zimmer in einem paradiesischen Garten! Sehr aufmerksame und liebenswerte Menschen. Gleich neber einer ebenso tollen Tauchschule und einem netten, kleinen Restaurant mit herrlichem Frühstück. Die Lage ist perfekt und es fehlt einem an nichts!

This hostel is the best kept secret in Roatan!!!Ive stayed at Roatans Backpackers Hostel, Turtle Beach, Splash Inn and now for my last 1.5 weeks at Hotel Chillies.While the other accommodations were all lovely I found I had to made sacrifices at each, whereas with Chilies I was living in Hostel luxury for less $$$.Chillies:Wifi: 11/10 - video calls for work, streaming movies in my room at the main house and in a hammock on the deck...... its UNREAL here... she wont guarantee her wifi but she has 4 different wifi routers on the location and my friends and I have had ZERO issues with it.Room: 7/10clean, and because of covid I got a 3 bedroom room to my self. The mattress is a little older than some of the other places I stayed but still great for the price. The mattress would be my only small complaint but you get what you pay for.Location: 10/10On the beach, in West Bay, across from one of the best restaurants/yoga studios/live music spots in Roatan!!! Unreal location.Vibe - 10/10Hammocks, porch, in house restaurant for breakfast with great food, jungle garden with little cottages in the back (I stayed in the main house but you can rent a individual cottage in the back which were super nice)Host - 10/10Michelle and her husband are very kind and accommodating hosts. This is a family ran hostel and they are very laid back and friendly.Dive shop on site - 10/10Cheap dives if you stay at the hostel $30Price to stay: 10/10$25 for single room USD - SUPER reasonable for this area!!Security 10/10 - both a person that stays at the gate and cameras - you feel super safe and your stuff is safe.Laundry service - 10/10$10 for laundry (this is typical everywhere)

Exelente habitación doble de luxe, comercios variados y muy cerca, la playa frente al hotel muy bonita, si regresaría en un futuro.

Stayed 6 night in one of the wooden cabins and it was perfect. Really comfortable and had everything I needed. I particularly enjoyed the hammock on the porch and the friendly resident cats. It’s in an excellent location directly across the road from the beach and if you’re planning on diving, checkout Native Sons on the property. They were awesome!

Great budget stay. Clean and tidy. No frills. They do have some nicer suites as well but we choose a pretty budget end and it is a perfect fit, great value. Awesome dive shop on site. Staff is great like family and take great care of you.

We stayed in the main house with shared bathroom. Its a great location, right across from the beach but quiet. Atmosphere is very relaxed, safe, and comfortable. Grocery store next door (can use shared kitchenand lots of restaurants options nearby. Quality for price is worth it! Nice sized rooms with airflow, clean bathroom and conformable beds. The hotel has a beautiful garden with a feeling of privacy and serenity. Owners are very nice (have a ton of experience being on the island for yearswith good recommendations and staff. They have a dive shop attached with nice boat and amazing reefs on the front doorstep, perfect for cooling down on nice sunny days.

I visited Roatan for the first time and I am glad I stayed at Hotel Chillies! I had an amazing quiet time in my cabin. I loved every single minute of it. The Hotel is right across the street from the beach! I would go in the eveing to watch the sunset. Amanda the receptionist was super cool, friendly, professional and helpful. As well as the Owners. Great place to unwind, rest, and recharge my batteries from my NYC hectic life. I will be back to Roatan, and to Hotel Chillies for Sure!

Quaint cottages in a really great location across from Sundowners. Youre in the best part of Roatan here. Its a bit unconventional, a shared kitchen in its own hut has a refrigerator to keep your drinks cold. Bring an extra Nalgene bottle to keep one cooling while the other is in use. Better yet label your beers and put them in the fridge. The property is pretty and the dive shop is buseling. It really caters to the dive crowd and I noticed their vessel is mored right across the street so there is no travel to go scuba. This area is quieter than the rest of the strip which really comes into play during Christmas to New Years - the street is extremely loud. Disadvantages: the internet may not reach beyond cabin 3 and there is no AC which may not matter as much in the winter but with the extra fans its barely passable in the summer. Competing hotels will have AC at this price point and the humidity control alone is worth the additional consideration - particularly in summer.

Stayed here twice now. They have decent prices for budget travellers, 12 usd for dorm, 25 for private room. Not too many backpackers come through here it seems so you can sometimes get the dorm all to yourself. However, theres also not much in terms of social life going there but plenty of that right outside, sundowners bar is a good spot. Right across from the beach. They have a lil breakfast, lunch shop on grounds which is nice and tasty. The diving was chill, small groups, and easy plus decent prices if staying at the hotel!

We stayed here for a week and had a great time! Everyone is extremely friendly. We stayed in the mango room which was very nice and comfortable. The hotel is in a perfect location for everything in West End. I highly recommend it!

En realidad es un hostel con dormitorios compartidos y cabañas privadas.En la app de airbnb te lo venden como "cuarto privado" pero una vez que reservas te das cuenta que no es un cuarto en una casa de familia (es lo se suele ofertar aquísino un hotel.El trato es muy distante y serio, es más una de las recepcionistas no debería ni estar ahí, da unas contestaciones muy feas y es muy abrupta además de que ni siquiera te sonríe. La chica hondureña es más agradable.Pudimos dejar las mochilas al hacer el check out pero no las guardan sino que las dejan a pie de mesa en la recepción.Nos dijerón que después de hacer el check out podríamos utilizar las duchas que estan fuera y la cocina sin embargo al momento le dijimos a esta recepcionista que lo ibamos a hacer y nos dijo muy seca que el check out era a las 11, lo repitio 3 veces de mala manera como echandonos. Suerte que estaba la dueña por ahí y nos dijo que no había problema, aún así ya nos sentimos incomodos.Los baños están bastante sucios y dejados pese a que los limpian (por encimaa diario.Los dormitorios son muy básicos y pequeños y constantemente hay cucarachas,arañas y escarabajos en la habitación. Comprendo que hay naturaleza alrededor pero teniendo un lugar donde te están cobrando por el servicio deberían fumigar de vez en cuando.Los colchones son viejos y de 3 camas que había en la habitación ninguna estaba en condiciones, se clavan los resortes y acabamos con mal de espalda.Detrás de la puerta del dormitorio habían pelos engachados.En una de las cabañas tienen un pequeño taller de carpinteria donde se supone que hacen los muebles del hostel o lo que sea! y cada mañana están con ruidos y mucho polvo pues trabajan en el exterior y lo peor de todo es que esta al lado de la cocina donde se cocina y se come.Es caro para lo que se recibe. En definitiva no lo recomiendo para nada.

great rustic, inexpensive place to stay

Chillies is everything you could want in a hotel, amazing location, dirt cheap scuba cert, beautiful scenic landscaping (im a photographer), close to some of the most beautiful reefs and beaches just minutes away in a safe comfortable environment. For a fraction of what youd pay for a resort you can stay in an amazing place in an amazing location!!! Dont look, book!

I loved the place, nice cabins perfect to chill and have a get away weekend. Theres the most amazing tropical garden you get to walk every time you go to your cabin. If diving is what youre looking for, they have a dive shop attached to the property with there own boat.The service is great and honest, I happen to forgot my wallet outside the cabin and they return it with all the cash in it.

Gutes hostel, die bieten Zimmern in unterschiedlichen Klassen, bzw Preise. Wir hatten zur zweit ein privates Zimmer mit Ventilator für 25$ pro Nacht. Es gibt leider viele Mücken, wie überall. Es gibt eine Gemeinschaftskuche. Direkt vor der Tür gibt es eine sehr gute Tauchschule (absolut empfehlenswert). Außerdem gibt es noch eine Buchhandlung (eher englische Literatur und board gamesund eine kleine Café. Das Meer ist in 30 Sekunden, Supermarkt in 90 Sekunden erreichbar. In dem Bar, vor der Tür gibt es jede Woche 2 mal live Musik (eher Gitarren Musik). Das ist absoluter Treffpunkt des tauch-community. Für mich ist es empfehlenswert.

I stayed here for a few days recently to take my advanced open water course. The shared cabins are a good budget option, specially if you are traveling with one or two more people. They have an adequate small kitchen and bathroom. Kind of basic friendly accommodations with a fan and no AC. If you are in Roatan to scuba dive, like I was, this is a great option with the Native Sons diving shop right there. The mornings and nights can get a little noisy.

I absolutely loved the Caribbean feel of the bungalows set back into the rainforest. The location is just across the street from some of the best locations and dive shops on the island like Sun Divers.

After staying there in 2013, I had the chance to return to the hotel Chillies in February 2016. With a friend, we spent a week in one of the cabins at the rear of the main building in a really beautiful tropical garden. The cabins are basic, while comfortable, well built, clean and well maintained. The place is really quiet. At night, you can sometimes hear the sound of the sea is not far. Everyone has access to a basic but clean kitchen, which reduces the cost of the stay. Michele, the owner and hotel manager is genuinely kind, available to give advice as needed. I would not hesitate a second before returning to this beautiful place.

A great budget hotel run by really nice people with a young international clientele. The dive shop thats on the property is excellent too. Been there twice, hope to go back soon.

Staying at Chillies in the two bedroom cabin turned out to be an excellent choice for me. Its close to everything in West End - a beach and a bar are right across from it, there are plenty of dive shops within a block or two, you can get a "collectivo" taxi at the corner, and there are two grocery shops within a block! And to top it all, the price is ridiculously affordable - I paid < $200 for 7 nights of accommodation and had a private room of own. There was a hammock outside the cabin and I spent many a lazy afternoon reading a book.You cant have it all though. The place has a few quirks/downsides, but they were all minor for me. For instance, Internet is only available near the front of the property (by the office/reception area), the cabins are not air-conditioned (this can be seen as an upside as youll acclimatize in a day), plumbing is weak (TP has to be put in a garbage bin thats cleared everyday), and the receptionist was grumpy all the time and seemed more interested in watching her movies than answering questions/helping out.Ill happily stay here again.
