amazing hotel, with a very convenient location, Metro is right outside the door, will stay here again.
Also the nice top roof I love it! Best hotel ever!
I had a double room. As soon as you walked in the smell of the bathroom drains was overpowering. The furniture in the bedroom and bathroom had straps hanging off.The shower itself was very good and spacious but the wall surrounding it had mould on it in various different places. For a double room the actual floor space was very small.Considering they class themselves as a 4 star hotel and charge accordingly it definitely IS NOT worth the money. The only highlighting feature is the location and view from the rooftop
We just checked in today but so far I love it. The bathroom is roomy and we have a great view of the fountain and twin towers.
Chaotic reception .Constant noise rumbling from metro.Room stunk of sewage every morning. Breakfast no organisation ...anyone could walk in off the street if they wanted to as no room numbers given. Hairs from previous people in our bed so sheets hadnt been changed. No shower gel when we arrived as it was empty.Faulty lock on bathroom door so son got locked in and had to be let out by staff! A jokeThis needs serious attention from the management.
Nice hotel ,very good location, rooms are cleen and with nice view, food is good, stuff is correct and pool on the top is amazing.
Nice, clean rooms, fresh cooked breakfasts, nice rooftop bar and pool.
4 star hotel with a beautiful view to the fountain and nice rooftop bar
In good safe to walk location.Nice breakfast.Big enough room, but a bit noisy in the front(with the nice view thoughand not so clean! The design shows it’s old.The hotel needs renovation urgently.Could you believe that there is only one plug available for charging and behind the TV in 2022?
Great location and very nice hotel with a terrific view from the roof pool.
Really the perfect hotel. Modern, good beds, fantastic shower, very clean, breakfast even has details like oatmilk. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool on roof is a great get away. The location is great - first stop on the areobus from the airport and its pretty much in the center of Barcelona. Will stay here on future visits if possible.
I forgot my jacket in room And then I called reception they directly said not available and I try to contact to room service also difficult this my jacket room 104
I had a wonderful time staying in Hotel Catalonia, thanks to the great and friendly service of Silvia. I could ask her anything.
I have never seen a hotel room this beaten up. I cant believe this is a 4 star hotel. It was dirty and poorly maintained. The wooden floor planks were old and some of the planks had big gaps, the floor was dirty, the shower full of rust, with loose faucets and patches of previous reparations.…the furniture and door frames were totally beaten up, the tv was unplugged (after plugging it in we realized that the power off button of the remote didnt work, so the previous guests probably unplugged it this way)…We brought it up to the receptionist and showed him the pictures. He was very nice and tried to help, but couldnt do anything because the hotel was fully booked. He himself recognized it was embarrassing.Honestly, this was the worst experience weve had in years. And not cheap, we paid a 4 star hotel rate.Theres no excuses for a room in this state. Whether its a one off or not (I doubt it is). The Hotel management should be on top of this.Wouldnt recommend.
The location is excellent. Aerobus stop and metro exit right in front of the hotel. Next to Arena mall with a supermarket. Rooftop pool with a nice view. The lights were on but none of the sockets in our room worked. We couldnt watch TV/dry our hair/boil water/charge our phones...Made 3 complaints and waited for 2+hours to get their staff to come up and check the problem. First, they said the maintenance guy would come up in 5 mins to fix it, then they said the maintenance guy had already gone home! Seriously? Their manager apologized but said the hotel was full that night. They did move us to another room the next day. I needed to follow up twice to get the compensation that the night manager promised (which ended up being free breakfasts for the rest of the stay, the cost was similar to our first-night rentand the process was not pleasant. The second room was better; at least the sockets worked. But the toilet was weird. Every time we returned in the evenings, wed find the bottom of the toilet bowl brownish. Overall, not exactly the 4-star hotel service Id have expected.
I was not a resident here and was not told that the pool area was exclusively for residents.Very kind security let me stay. The waitress tried to rip me off which put a damper on the whole experience.Check your bill carefully and dont believe that the card machine has suddenly stopped working. This is a common problem in Barcelona.
Hotel is very good and Linda on reception was very kind and helpful 👌I recommend this hotel👍
My friends and I stayed at the hotel for a weekend and had a wonderful stay. The facilities met our expectations and the staff was very friendly. We distinctly remember Silvia (receptionistwho was great. We’ll definitely stay here again next time we visit Barcelona :)
Great view. Great location. Very good hotell. BUT….. The straws used in The bar is wayyyy to short. The straw is drowning in my drink. Pls save it.
Visited the rooftop terrace here for a few drinks with friends. Great views of plaza Espanya at night and the fountains when on and the palace building. Service was good too - friendly staff.
an excellent stay! the hotel is perfectly located, with an incredible terrace… the views are the best of all. The kindness and service of the staff have made the experience more real and authentic, thank you very much!
Awesome services and people! Very tasty and rich breakfast. Amazing massage and spa services. Fully recommended!
Front employee is very very unkind. especially a man. And hotel is so dirty. The area around the hotel is really, really dangerous. If you have two lives, please use this hotel.
Great family friendly hotel, excellent location, and very friendly staff. The room was modern, clean, and weve been welcomed with a champagne bottle! The roof pool and bar were amazing.Payed car parking on site. 22€ /day.The breakfast was amazing. One of best weve ever eaten.Definitely well comeback here!
The hotel en the view are just amazing. Silvia made out stay even better by being really helpful and she even gave us an upgrade. We couldn’t have ended our trip to Barcelona any better than this. Thank you so much!
Great hotel! Nice view and rooms. Pool on the rooftop is amazing!
1. old hotel facilities, The circuit was unstable and was locked in the elevator twice. So I had to climb the stairs. And the hotel staff did not apologize.2. The cleaning of the room is not up to standard, and the room cleaning does not wipe the table at all. The table is full of dust, and the air conditioner is full of dust3. The house keys are often out of order and the keys are not kept with the phone.4. Based on the above, the hotel does not belong to the four-star standard at all, and the price is too high
The pool is refreshing and bar even more. Cold cocktails with the most beautiful view.
Overall summary for this hotel: its nice but it definitely isnt 4 stars. If you can stay at this hotel for less than 130 euro a night, its location makes it worth it. Any price higher than that and I would skip it and find a better one.The good: The rooms are clean, and we had a wonderful view of Plaça dEspanya. In addition, they are situated right by the metro stop for espanya, which has a couple of the metro lines stopping by it. For anything a tourist would need this is a great metro stop. The pool is clean and usually not too crowded and the staff is super friendly. The neutral: Room cleaning starts around 9am so we missed out on it once just because we slept in a bit. Also, one of the times we got room service they changed our towels and the other time they changed one towel but not the other, so that was a bit odd.The bad:The pool closes fairly early (7pmso if you want to put your feet in the pool after a long day of exploring the city, thats not an option. We had quite a few pieces of furniture that were damaged. One of them was the shelf that holds the shampoo and conditioner in the shower so we didnt have anywhere to put any of our stuff while showering (besides the floor). The rooms werent soundproofed very well. In our room we could hear the elevators going up and down and anyone in the hallway. The drinks at the pool/bar area are extremely overpriced and definitely not worth the cost. They are about €13-15 for a mixed drink and €5-6 for beer. The mixed drinks unfortunately were not very tasty.Last but not least, room service says it goes until 2300. My wife and I arrived back from our dinner on the last night of our honeymoon and figured we would celebrate with 2 glasses of cava. It was around 2220 and we called room service and we were told they were closed. I asked if the 2300 time was correct and they said yes, but they were closed at 2220. Makes no sense whatsoever and put a slight damper on the last night since we thought we had plenty of time to order the glasses of cava and intentionally didnt stop anywhere else.
I want to highlight the rooftop with the swimmingpool 👌 Ive been in other rooftop hotels in Barcelona but this one with the montjuic fontain on one side, the mountain on the other. The clear view, super comfy to spend the day in the swimming pool and avoid the barceloneta beach full.. No kids (at least when we were thereand the coctails good. Some are a bit expensive, but you can get a huge glass of sangria for just 5! The sunset its a must 👏
Our room flooded on night one. We had to insist on moving rooms due to the issue after being told someone would be by in the morning to fix it (mind you the water was throughout our room and down the hall). After being handed towels to take care of the problem ourselves, we were moved to a significantly smaller room which was in terrible shape, both physically and cleanliness. Customer service is yet to respond to our complaints and its been 10 days
(Dear Mr. Farouk,Im sorry to read your comments and we hope you accept our apologizes, but honestly, after 4 days staying at our hotel, I think it would have been easier for both parties if you had informed us of what happened and not wait to check out today and put a reviews on the internet. As an establishment, our maxim is to work to achieve excellence for our clients and reports like yours, on time, allow us to solve any situation. Im sorry it wasnt like that.We hope in the future, you can give us a new opportunity to improve.Best regards.)In reply to your poor response on my previous review. I can’t complain to staff who is not available. I called 4 times and came down twice for toilet paper. And for your info i stayed at your hotel in 2014 and you were one of ny favourites. I could have came back but after your rude reply. I will make sure to mention to anyone going to barcelona not to stay at your hotel.Regards
!! Cockroach at the Roomhave my worst experience ever at this hotel, I was a tour leader for group of 168 person, first of all we received the keys at 15:30, all the rooms on the first floor has a very ugly view, rooms are not clean and then we found a big COCKROCHES in the rooms.Breakfast was very very very poor and limited and took a very long time to refill it
Pool bar was expensive and the service there was poor. Great breakfast. The room seemed clean at first but then we found a water bottle and a childs shoe, so we wonder how clean it really was.
Definitely not getting what you pay for. Rooms of 2nd floor very old with closet doors not even moving. When checked in, toilet was dirty, as well as the bed. UNACCEPTABLE regardless the price.Out of the 2 room ventilators, only one was working for Airconditioning. So very warm in the night.Hair Shampoo was empty. Asked in the reception in the morning to refill, never happened. I had to go to reception again in the evening, and wait for half hour to finally take a shower. On the good side, breakfast was very good and pool service/view also nice.
Lovely hotel, attentive staff, clean rooms, cosmopolitan breakfast. A couple of informational enquiries were dealt with efficiently and courteously. Air con was fine, I slept soundly, no external noise. If youre concerned, maybe ask for a room facing inwards rather than towards the plaza?Metro station and airport bus from directly outside the hotel.Would recommend.
Great service. Pool bar excellent. Good service and personal efficient. Special thanks to Cristina in front desk for helping us to make the stay wonderful. See ya soon!
Very nice hotel in the middle of nice touristic places, close to a shopping mall that was transformed from a bull fight arena, and close to the famous fountain... With a great pool and beautiful views on the top floor 🏖
A horrible experience from start to finish! Our flight was delayed due to ongoing issues with easyjet, so we alerted hotels.com that we would be arriving a day late who confirmed with the hotel that this would be fine and are booking was guaranteed. On arrival staff were unbothered that we were waiting and when we did get served, we were greeted with coldness. They couldn’t find our booking on their system, even though we had it clearly stated on our phones. After an hour of trying to sort it, they said that we would have to pay the price that was set that day which was double the amount we were expecting to pay. We had no other option but to do this due to it being midnight and being tired from 24h of traveling. They said that they would try and resolve the issue with their manager in the morning and for us not to worry.Morning comes and the manager that they had promised was not there, but we were told we needed to wait another 3 hours till the next one arrived. We patiently waited and the manager that dealt with us was rude, ignorant and most of all made us feel small and that we had done wrong when we had done everything in our control to sort the situation. He smirked, no apology, no empathy and raised his voice.I cannot understand how nothing was done to help us but instead we left feeling sad and overcharged. As two young girls we hope no one else has to experience this.
Thanks to Cristina (FOMI felt very welcome. She looks after each guest very well. She is a plus for the Hotel and the Guest. Hotel is in a good location clean, roof top pool and bar is amazing.
If you compare this hotel with the hotels where are placed in tourisms regions like Türkiye, it is difficult to say that this hotel is better. It is good in its class. The rooms are well furnished and clean. It is located at the center of the most important square named Espanya. The hotel is near the public transportation stops including taxi, bus and metro. The staffs are kind and costumer driven. It is more like a city hotel. The beach isnt at the walking distance. The view from the terrace floor where a small swimming pool is available is excellent.
Before check out I would have given this hotel a 4 star rating, but that all changed when I went to check out. I was on the 5th floor and my room was nice, newer and well updated. And I actually had an iron and ironing board which seem to be in very short supply at this hotel, but overall I have no complaints about the hotel cleanliness, restaurants or bar. But what I have an issue is direct theft from the hotel. Near the end of my stay I inquired at the front desk about booking a massage. I was told that it was an outside service and they would call to see if they could book an appointment for me. I gave them my phone number and room number and went on my way. I never heard back from the front desk. By the time I got back the person I talked to was no longer at the front desk. So I concluded that they could not book a massage and just did not bother to call me. HOWEVER, when I checked out there was a spa treatment charge on my bill. I questioned it and said I never got the massage but just inquired. Their response was infuriating. "it was confirmed". That is all they kept saying. I see it was confirmed. So they confirmed something, did not tell me and then expected me to pay it! IN my mind they just stole that money from me. So my advise to you is dont use any extra services from this hotel as their follow up and then attention to a customer complaint is worthless. So I paid for something I did not get!!!!
honestly, the only thing this hotel has going for it is the location. Several bad experiences like key room issues, dirty rooms, etc in my short 7 day work trip. Wouldn’t recommend.
This hotel is old no way its a 4 star hotel, the tubs are rusted & not cleaned properly, the flat screen is over a decade old, our "minibar" fridge was disgusting, exetremly dirty, resembles a motel with the sheets and curtains, i am so disappointed. This hotel is exetremely overpriced for its value
Nice hotel, large rooms. Nice rooftop bar and small pool. Great location with easy access via metro and buses to the whole of Barcelona
Nice place to stay. The breakfast hall is very loud. No power plugs near the beds
Had a lovely stay ! The room was spacious clean and comfortable, breakfast was very nice :special greets to Cristina, receptionnist manager, for the warm welcome and kindness.
The service is very poor, definetly not reaching 4* hotels. The issues started already by check in, when the rooms was not prepared and we needed to wait for almost one hour for them. In the superior rooms AC was not working as the central unit was not working yet. The entry cards have permanent issues, and i needed to visit reception couple of times to get in to my room. The hotel bar has nice view, but again service was super poor and time has no sense for the hotel personal. Water in pool is super freezing. I share all my experience with the hotel manager expecting to think about compensatory, but as i already thought nothing happened at all. I highly recommend to spend your money else where as this hotel makes out of your holiday a bad experience.
YOU GET ROBBED INSIDE THE HOTEL!!Overall it’s a nice hotel but we had a bad experience with the group we were traveling. To one of the person we were traveling, as she was waiting on the couches on the Lobby, someone came and ask her something just to distract her and her backpack was STOLEN! INSIDE THE HOTEL. AND THEY WONT HELP YOU AT ALL! She had her laptop inside and all her other personal stuff! Imagine that! Then, our room was SUPER HOT although it is spring and they weren’t able to solve us. The AC wasn’t working! For a hotel of this “quality” one should expect better customer service! And then to someone else in our group someone wanted to open the door of their room in the middle of the night! So don’t come here if you want to EXPERIENCE CRIMINALITY! 🙃and they will answer with a lie! LIARS!Also internet super bad. It kept disconnecting from my phone and it happened to my family too!
Fantastic views, nice size rooms, very clean, my only drawback would be that they switched the aircon to heating too soon in the year and left our rooms absolutely boiling. Couldn’t sleep with the window open as it was too loud with the road outside. Apart from that, all was great and this is one of my favourite places to stay in the city.
