March 30, 2019We recently spent two weeks at Casa Ordonez in Cuenca. A grand daughter is a junior at Montana State University in Bozeman and is attending school this semester in Cuenca. Even before we arrived at Casa Ordonez, Alberto offered to have Rachael contact him if she needed support in any way.Casa Ordonez is an outstanding comfort zone in Cuenca. This is an exceptional place. The location is the best. We were only two blocks from Calderon Park and the Cathedral. Our room was immaculate and the attention of the staff was superb. Edwin, Elfa, and Rene are part of his A+ team. Alberto’s focus is on his guests and their adaptation to his beloved city, Cuenca. He knows his city well and gives thorough and helpful suggestions. When we arrived at Casa Ordonez, Bruce left his Patagonia jacket in the taxi. Because they have cameras at their front door, Alberto had a photo of the taxi and the license number. It was Carnival time, but in a couple days Alberto contacted the taxi company and the taxi driver was identified. Would you believe the driver delivered the jacket back to Casa Ordonez. It took him an hour of his time to return it.We travel with a cribbage board and had forgotten to pack one. Alberto easily found a carpenter who made one for us and delivered it to Casa Ordonez. Is it any wonder that we would return to Casa Ordonez if we take another trip to Cuenca? We love Alberto and Casa Ordonez . He continued to offer Rachael total support if she needs any assistance while she is in Cuenca. We hope he comes to Colorado.
MoreGreat location and incredible hospitality!
Super agojida !!!
Very friendly and assisting staff, nice atmosphere in traditional wood based hotel interior, perfect location (2 minutes to center of Cuenca)
MoreGreat staff - excellent location and service
Es un lugar muy acogedor y tranquilo
This place has a unique charm that made us feel at home and also taken back in time. The care that the Ordonez family has taken to maintain a past-era Ecuadorian house built with an old Spanish design is tremendous. The house has been restored in a classic vintage. The 1890s house still has some original era doors and other features. For those features that are gone, the Ordonez family has done a remarkable job of getting replicas from the same era. The furniture, too, brings one back in time. Few hotels have a unique and extraordinary character that inspires a guest who walks in. This hotel is one of the few I’ve experienced. In addition, Alberto and the rest of the staff were extremely welcoming, making us feel at ease. They helped us in advising on tours, transportation, festivals, etc. They have great advice that helped us arrange affordable visits in Cuenca and the area. One of the other great aspects of this hotel is the location, right in the historical center of Cuenca, and only two blocks from the main square with the historical cathedrals. The location is ideal. Finally, the value of the hotel is outstanding. In other countries, this hotel would be very expensive. Yet this hotel, which has a “hostal” sign in front, is priced like a hostel yet has the ambiance and feeling of a high-end luxury boutique hotel. We extended our stay in Casa Ordonez and Cuenca because we so enjoyed the stay in both the lovely city and the lovely hotel.
MoreThe owners family lived here in this house for many generations. They honored their heritage when they renovated it to become a hotel, and it still has some fine pieces of furniture, including a few imported from France for their quality. It is only a few blocks from the central square, cathedral and good restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful.I look forward to returning.
MoreThe staff were all very friendly and helpful. Its got an antiquated feel to it which I can appreciate. The proper expectations were set from the beginning such as warm/hot water taking a couple of minutes to kick in. The only odd thing I would bring up is that they seem to have only one key for the room so whenever you leave the hotel to go out you need to leave the key with the person at the hotel front desk. Other than that I definitely enjoyed the stay here.
MoreA great new shower with space for two. Flat surface, shower wand, hot water, lots of it, new bottled water every day. A great hot breakfast, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed juice, yogurt, as much coffee as you want. Served in a gentile, caring manner. A comfortable bed, fresh roses in our room, new towels everyday, even when you hang the old ones. A great central location. Just a few fun blocks from Parque Calderon and the River Tumebamba. Restaurants and coffee shops everywhere. Walk to all the main, free attractions. The owners are educated, caring warm individuals. All this for 50.00 per night. Viva la Cuenca and Casa Ordonez.
MoreWhat can I say? This place is special! Beautifully restored colonial home, great staff, and excellent location in Cuenca. Incredible value, too!
MoreGreat place with nice authentic design and very friendly staff!

I highly recommend this beautiful, quiet, quaint hotel. The owner and staff are wonderful! It definitely felt like a home away from home.
MoreIts like coming home.
Great place to stay. Alberto makes everyone feel like family. Beautifully restored family owned continually by the same family since the 1800s.
MoreFantastic service. Wonderful food. Owner and chef Alberto Ordonez is the consummate host. He and his family welcome each guest as their own. Wonderful location. A great choice.
MoreExcellent meal, great service. The owner, Alberto, could not be friendlier. He made the entire evening special.
MoreAlberto pays attention to every detail or want you could have. Located In the historic district you can walk to the parks and fabulous restaurants. Staying here was one of the highlights of the trip, the rooms are. immaculate and service outstanding.
MoreAlberto so graciously entertained us in his familys ancestral home converted to a hotel. Cuenco was charming, but the most charming of all was the hospitality and service by Alberto, sister Maria and their staff. The breakfasts provided were over the top! I will always want to stay at Hotel Ordonez. Deb and Terry
MoreFrom the moment we arrived to time we left, we were treated like royalty. Owner, Alberto and his staff were kind, helpful, and attentive throughout our stay. Wonderful breakfast every morning, with fresh juice and great coffee. Our room was comfortable and clean. Hotel was quaint and quiet, but not far from numerous shops, park, restaurants, etc. Staff was like family to us and ensured that all of are questions were answered plus they provided great recommendations on restaurants and tours. Now that we have found this place, it will be the only place we stay in Cuenca when we return. Absolutely perfect!
MoreMuy linda mi estadía .Lindo hotel !!!
This beautiful hotel is family owned and operated. Tastefully renovated and furnished with antiques. The staff is excellent and they always helped me to feel welcome. The beds are comfortable, plenty of hot water for showers, and the whole place is impeccably clean. The breakfasts are not to be missed! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone, without hesitation.
MoreA lovely place to stay when you are in downtown Equador. Extremely gracious and helpful owners.
MoreGreat accommodations in the Historic Center of Cuenca, Central to everything from banks and groceries to the city center, Casa Ordonez The casa itself takes you back in time to the way many families built their homes. The breakfasts are close to the best in the city including the most attentive staff anywhere. All your questions will be answered and all your concerns will disappear. Enjoy Cuenca without worries while staying at Casa Ordonez.
