Island Boca Brava, Boca Chica, Panama, David
Hotel Boca Brava Paradise - in David, Panama
Perfect view and hospitality. We had a delicious dinner served! make sure to call the day ahead to make a reservation.
War ein top Aufenthalt. Hatten sogar Familienanschluss.
Alles Top!!
Hermoso todo
Amo ese lugar
Está hermoso el lugar
Owner did not show any empathy when we requested a (partialrefund because we had to change our plans due to the strikes and protests, even though we contacted them three weeks before our initial arrival date. I understand you have a cancellation policy… But everyone understands that the situation at that time was out of our control, right? The owners responded unnecessarily rude and short when we extensively explained our worries about visiting Panamá.Reading the most recent reviews we’re very glad that we did not visit the place. Yeah, we lost a lot of money, but we certainly don’t want to stay with people who treat us, and other (potentialvisitors like that. I wished them good luck with the coming weeks, coming out of a pandemic and into a touristic catastrophe with the strikes, but I wish I could take that back.
Magic vs unbelievable place ,- nothing to complain ,- kind regards from Hamburg ,- hope to see you soon guys 🎈
Arroganter und unflexibler Service! =(
Excelente servicio
Me encantó el servicio
The place looks nice and you have a beautiful view on the ocean when having breakfast on the terrace. That being said, the place is NOT AN HOTEL but rather a bed & breakfast. It should be advertised as is because you will live with the owner and his family. We were lucky to get a room with a separate entrance because all other rooms were directly in the shared areas of the family house. We initially booked the hotel for three nights but decided to leave after two because we felt stuck there. In fact, to literally do anything, you need to ask the owner to drive you to the pier and then grab a taxi boat.I would also recommend to plan the food options beforehand as there are none closeby. The « hotel » offers dinner between 25-30$ USD per person, which is the most expensive we paid for a meal during our trip. There are no restaurant or supermarket closeby. All in all, I think the price is very expensive for what it is.
Me encanto el lugar
The owners made us really uncomfortable.I stayed at the Boca Brava Paradise with my partner for three nights (even though we had booked fourand right from the beginning we didnt feel comfortable.Maik, the owner, doesnt know how to be a hotel host with the right kind of distance. We tried to keep our distance but he came to us again and again telling us about how he hates German work culture and how Germans didnt have real friendships, how Panama was way better, but later he complained about Panama as well. He calls his staff, who are indigenous, "my indians", which is really disrespectful in my opinion. We didnt ask about any of the things he told us and it made us feel uneasy. He was one of the main reasons we left the place one day earlier than we had planned. Since we are Germans too, we felt like we couldnt speak freely since the owners and their kids are always around, for example sitting next to you at breakfast. Another main reason for us leaving early was that the rooms smell moldy and in our opinion the place and the dinner are absolutely overpriced. Also youre really dependent because theres no other options to eat out and you dont have a car or taxis on the island.Would not recommend this place. Since we had such awesome experiences with ALL of our other accommodations in Panama, this one stood out even more negatively!
Not worth the money. We booked the Boca Brava for 4 nights but decided to leave earlier, despite of loosing the money for the last night. We didnt feel comfortable at all and these were our reasons:- the first room we got smelled awfully moldy, didnt have a key and we had to walk through the owners (Katja and Maikliving area to get to the room- that being said, the Boca Brava is more a guest house than a hotel, that means the family sits next to you at breakfast and "lives with you", we think thats something worth knowing before booking!- in our opinion the owners do not understand their role as a host, especially Maik, who came to us over and over again to share his (problematicopinion about various topics (e.g. about German cultureor complained about something- also the food (dinnerwas not worth the money and we didnt like the fact that you were only able to choose a 25 $ or 30 $ three course menu with very limited choices- the grounds have potential, but the owners havent taken care of it enough (horse stables, pool area, no design concept- even though the owner said they are a boutique hotel)- as someone who takes language very seriously, we didnt like that the owner calls the indigenous people, including their staff, "indians"Even though the view is beautiful and we got a room update after telling the owners that we would leave early we would not recommend that place. In the end I gave Maik some feedback including the points mentioned here, but he doesnt take criticism at all.
We visited the place with a real estate agent prior to our booked stay as we were interested in investing in the area. The place was in such poor condition we refused to go back for our stay. Ferry was broken down so had to take a rickety old boat across to the island. horse stalls in total shambles, the owners/ managers bedrooms were a disaster and smelled of urine. The one bedroom we were supposed to stay in had the sink laying on the bed. An underfed dog jumped on us during the whole showing. Zero chance we were returning to this mess. Owners refused to refund us.
We stayed four nights at Hotel Boca Brava Paradise. Indeed it was paradise. Stunning view you can’t get enough, delicious breakfast and dinner. Thank you guys it was just perfect.
There are three key factors that made our stay here, possibly, the best experience in Panamá, but there are some things that YOU HAVE to consider. So, without further ado, let me explain.Key factor 1: location. We’ve been living in this beautify country for over 6 years now, and I think we really like to take the time and explore the most of the country, to know the good, the bad, the expensive and the best bang for the buck. Saying this, leaving bocas del toro out, I’m sure there’s no better beach experience in this country than this place. Period. The most blue turquoise’s beaches I’ve seen in the pacific sea, white, soft sand, and a nice balance in tourist infrastructure, meaning, not the huge resorts with their dumb tourism, but neither the lack of any infrastructure at all.Key factor 2: the house. Omg there’s not enough things to say about the house here. Big but just a few rooms, incredible patio with a big beautiful tree with lots of birds nest and monkeys howling around. Sometimes It feels like a zoo! But no, because they’re free to move wherever they want. Beautiful furniture doing a perfect match with the nature.Key factor 3: the owners. Mike, Katja and their amazing kids give the final touch to the whole experience. It’s like you’re invited to this beautiful family in this magical place and they makes you feel like one of them! (Tearing apart the wrong preconception of the German people and they’re temper)Mike cannot be more helpful and really committed to you having the best experience posible (with German efficiency hahahaha)His wife is a sweet women that is always ready with the food and the services inside the house. At the beginning of this long review I said there’re some things to consider, because I’ve been reading some reviews, and now that I’ve been there, I know why happens. Let me explain. This house is in an island in front of the “boca chica” town. This town is a really small one, with less than 500 habitants. What I’m trying to say is that you’ve to be sure to get to the town (5 hours from Panamá cityat “working hours” 8 am - 7 pm aprox and make and coordinate with mike so he can guide you in what is the best hour for you to arrive. Obviously, if you doesn’t tell anyone you’re going to the hotel, arrive at 10 pm to the town and you call mike to say you’re there without any previous notice, things are not gonna work. If you keep a good communication, there will be no issues!!!PS: all photos are made by me and cannot be used anywhere else without my permission.
The view is spectacular. It’s quant and the grounds are very well cared for more of an Airbnb as you live in the family’s home with them. We shared the living quarters. The meals were good but the same thing was offered both nights we were there. My issue with the place is we booked our rooms Through bookings.com and paid in full. One of our party got Covid and we had to reschedule. We were going to be in Boca Chica for 2 weeks. When we reschedule we had no problems with the other places we booked but Boca Brava waited till we were ready to travel and called to say it would be an additional $700 because it was carnival. We had already paid $900 for the 3 day stay. We had no choice but to pay the $700 or lose $900. The topper was there was no party or parade and as far as I could tell no one celebrated. So much for carnival. For what we got I didn’t feel it was worth it. Since I made a fuss about the $700 she wasn’t very nice and sometimes even rude. When we were leaving I asked if I could put ice in my cup and she said she didn’t have enough for her other guest. This was the only bad experience we had the whole time in Panama.
It really was paradise...such a amazing location. The owners were so welcoming and accommodating, organised a great boat trip...all lgood
The location is stunning. However, we didnt have hot water in three days. The owners organization of tours is impecable. Food is monotonous
Hotel is great with great food, but you need to expect a bit higher prices. But they worth it. Thank you for your service. It was really paradise. And for those who dont know what to expect from the island. Yes, you can go for trips for snorkeling and near islands, but its not best place for walk tours around the island and we didnt like beaches as well. But when you go for a walk between hotel and ferry before sunset, you can see many monkeys. And maybe more animals if youre lucky.
Nos encanto mucho♡ ,buen sitio, hermosa vista, excelente atención. 10/10.Esperamos volver
Maravilhoso! Perfeito! Hospitalidade 1000! Comida deliciosa! Super limpo! Pessoas amáveis e uma vista maravilhosa!! 1000 estrelas! Certeza que voltarei!
Maravilloso! Perfecto!
The location is gorgeous, the food is correct
Un hotel excepcional en todos los sentidos.Trato agradable, habitaciones extremadamente limpias, cómodas y acogedoras.
