Hotel Arco Iris - in Girardot, Colombia
Rooms were super old, common areas were not great i.e. nobody used the pool. Rooms had no privacy at all.Staff were super friendly
We had a great time here! The location is amazing- walking distance from everything (including the beach), but is very private and quiet. The people who work here were great! We had an issue with the toilet and they helped right away and provided great service. The shower was the best I had in Costa Rica and the beds were comfortable.I would highly recommend staying here.
Excelente estancia. No teníamos internet en la habitación pero por lo demás, fue Perfecto para su precio.
Very nice and convenient to all the action in town!
Its own private paradise. What an amazing place tucked away from the busy streets. The main entrance is off a side street, but there is a back entrance which is a short cut to the main road that has path lights and gravel path with keypad access. It is about a 5 minute walk to anywhere on main st or the beach. At night you cant even hear the busy town from your rooms own hammock. It only has 12 rooms or so and 3 are stand alone bungalows, one of which we had. The little buildings are placed in a way where you feel so private and the property is so very well manicured and landscaped with lush local plants. The main building is open floor, open wall concept with the reception, bar, dining area and pool area all flowing into each other. The Seasons restaurant serves an amazing breakfast which was included in our stay and the dinner and drinks were just as good. The pool is clean with plenty of sun or shade and never too busy. Even a dip in the pool at dinner time does not seem out of place. The staff are very polite and attentive and spoke very good english. When we needed assistance in planning activities, both Henry and Juan Carlos were extremely helpful. The bungalow room has a queen bed, with a tv, coffee maker and fridge. Ductless A/C (split unitand a ceiling fan keep the temps in check. The bathroom has a large walk in shower and there was ample storage in the closet. The front deck of our bungalow had a wooden bench, a coffee table and a hammock. No matter what time of day you sat there you felt like you were in your own space.Tamarindo is a busy town with a lot of restaurants, bars and shops. It can be very busy and if you want to be in it you are right there, but if you also want so quiet, its also right there, just a few minute walk to privacy and serenity.
Location: If you are not interested in staying on the water while in Tamarindo, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else but here. It was within a 5-minute walk from everything in town but was tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the somewhat noisy town.Rooms: Spacious, very clean, and comfortable. We stayed in 3 different hotels in Costa Rica, and this room by far had the most comfortable beds and pillows. AC & wifi works great.Breakfast: Included breakfast was pretty good. There were 3 options: classic Costa Rican dish (eggs, rice, fruit on side), a fruit bowl (granola + honey), or pancakes. We didn’t get a chance to eat in the restaurant for dinner but heard it was amazing from other guests who ate there.Bonus: The hotel set up COVID testing for us the morning before we flew out of Costa Rica. It went smoothly. While we were up at 7:30am for the testing we noticed the staff watering all the greenery, which we appreciated. We went during the hot dry season (Marchso the rest of the town was a dusty, dry dirt land and this was a nice oasis from that! The pool was small but who cares – it was relaxing!
Great spot. Away from the noise. Calm, retreat like hotel 6mnts walking to busy Tamarindo. Pool is not big, 5ft deep but great for a dip and relaxing time any hr of the day. Restaurant is always busy. Breakfast 3 options. Tasty. Staff is friendly and go out for the way to accommodate your request. The owner walks around greeting everyone. Nice breeze, relaxing music, nice grounds and well managed rooms. They are modern, clean and maintained daily. I will be back. I felt at home. Secured gate for guests to enter. Lights on late. I always felt safe to and from town and in the hotel. Hammock outside my door. Just lovely. I will miss it for sure.
Fantastic clean place to stay in tamarindo. Beautiful pool and a great restaurant.
Thanks Richard and crew for a wonderful stay. Everyone here went above and beyond to make this trip memorable. I’ll be back!
Clean & quiet room, great service, a little slice of paradise. We spent many days by the pool & hanging out underneath the cabana.
Arco Iris is an excellent top tier hotel in Tamarindo. Richard the owner runs a great hotel which is conveniently located next to everything in town. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was incredible and the restaurant’s food was five star. I recommend any of the fish dishes especially the tuna. The pool is a great place to hang out, drink coffee, or take a dip.
We just spent a week at Aqua Iris and it was a great stay. The owner and staff were outstanding. The restaurant is great. It’s a very short walk into town. I would highly recommend staying there when visiting Tamarindo.
Quite rooms, clean, just far enough away for the hustle and bustle. 5ish min walk to the beach.
I tried to book several rooms in this hotel for an event and while in communication with management they booked it elsewhere w/o the slightest care for my party. Extremely poor service.
FANTASTIC Boutiqe hotel, I’ve stayed twice already and it will be the place I recommend to my clients and friends when they ask me where to stay in Tamarindo. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable. Great pillows and as bug free and clean as you can get in Costa Rica with AC.The owner Richard is the epitome of thoughtful and hospitable and the other reviews that mention him are why I initially came here. The restaurant is so good I dined there 3 times to taste all of it. Get the pâté, it’s world class tasty as is the polenta with mushrooms. The service is attentive without being intrusive and they made this eater feel honored. You can walk to the array of restaurants and the beach, take a swim in the pool before dinner, and nap in a hammock while it rains, it’s really the best of everything here.
This hotel was GREAT for me and my two friends (in our mid to late 20s). We made a spontaneous trip to costa rica and found this beautiful budget friendly hotel online, saw a couple of comments mentioning the owner Richard and was hoping all the good things that were said would be true. I am so happy to say they were!!! Richard was the BEST host I have ever come to know, and I travel very frequently. He is beyond helpful, super accommodating, and is always looking for ways to improve your stay in costa rica. He helped us with transportation to and from the hotel and the airport, he can suggest to you what to do around the hotel, and he helped us get a rapid antigen covid test last minute by calling a friend - helping with any concerns we had! His hotel is also located in a wonderful spot - 5min walk to the nearest beach and walking distance to other beaches, its in the center of town but in an area that isnt noisy. Lots of restaurants nearby (although the hotel has a restaurant of its own called Seasons which was niceand a bank located literally right across the street if you needed to exchange money for colónes (costa rican currency). We would definitely stay here again mostly because wed love to stay at this beautiful hotel (lovely pool and beautiful sceneand see Richard again! His girlfriend was also super cordial and she has a daughter who owns a restaurant called Tierra Bendita with amazing breakfast options - and shes located just down the street. We stayed in a standard hotel room which was just a bit outdated and that could use a bit of work - the beds were comfy, the bathroom looked nice but needed proper ventilation. There’s AC, a fridge but no microwave and the outlets were in slightly inconvenient areas but overall, the room was satisfactory and didnt cause us any major issues at all. There are other more updated rooms I believe you can stay in - but dont be afraid to give Richard a call for more info - he’s the best and getting to know him a little was one of the best parts of our trip to costa rica!
Beautiful boutique hotel in the center of Tamarindo. Richard, the owner, is very knowledgeable and friendly. will be back soon!

This hotel is amazing. The owner and his girlfriend made us feel like family. The restaurant is by far the best in town and the best food I had in my 3 weeks in Costa Rica .A quick walk to the beach (5 minutes or lessand making it close enough that walking isnt a big deal and that you dont hear the nosie from the partying in the town . Nice and quiet so you can sleep really well.Rooms were clean and nice. This hotel is a hidden gem and youll be happy to be there.
ここに二泊。タマリンドビーチと街まで徒歩圏。お散歩をしていける距離です。お部屋は清潔で、ホテルのひとはとても親切、朝食は豪華です。
Great staff, amazing room, great food, nice pool, quiet and very close to shopping, restaurants and the beach (5 min. walk. First time in Costa Rica and Acro Iris Hotel will be at the top of the list for the next trip.
Hotel Arco Iris was just as wonderful as the reviews said it was. The staff was friendly and helpful. The private bungalows were quiet and comfortable. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious. It was perfect for a group of 8 (4 couplesto each have their own space. It was also within comfortable walking distance to Tamarindos downtown area. I would definitely stay here again.
Excellent service. Quiet and cozy hotel
We spent a lovely week here for an affordable price. We received amazing service from every single staff member including the owner and his partner. They took care of our every need promptly. The cleaning service was always impeccable too. Location is a few minutes walk from the beach but close to some cool cafes and restaurants. It’s a small, modest and quiet location to relax with absolutely everything you need. If you’re looking for comfort and a little touch of luxury in a natural environment, this is the place. Thanks Richard and staff!
Always excellent food and service
Great place to stay. Small and quite hotel.
Cant understand why this was only a 3-star. One of the nicest Resorts I have stayed in. Will definitely return!
Loved it. Everyone should go at least once to experience paradise
We had a great time here, the owner goes the extra mile. We arrived later than expected and had no problems. Highly recommended.
I havent been there but all the day I pass by this hotel an looks very nice
Enjoy this piece of paradise.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Richard and his staff went out of their way to welcome us and make us feel at home.
Love the place owner are great and breakfasts was delicious
Excellent place! Internet needs to be fixed though.
Great little place with great hospitality!
Booked this place at the last minute for one-night stay, and will definitely be coming back. Upon check-in we were kindly welcomed by the owner of the hotel who was very attentive and helpful. Just far enough away from the hustle of the night life for a quiet setting, but still within reasonable walking distance if you want to go check things out. I think the owner must reside on-site. He also greeted us at breakfast and even remembered our names.
Rooms were clean and nice. Large shower with good pressure. The complex is nice and quiet at night. Although the blackout shades dont blackout the light outside your room.
It feels like being at home. Great breakfast, comfortable room, relaxing pool area but the best is the people kindness. Excellent option
I highly recommend the Arco Iris Hotel in Tamarindo. The place is gorgeous. The owner is a real character who cares about his guest. Hes on top of the operation 24/7. The beds are great. The furnishing are impeccable. And to boot, the restaurant is a five star. The breakfast is righteous. You cant go wrong here. And those bull-horned prima donnas that can always find issues, I havent seen one in the 100s of reviews?Youre far enough away from the strip that you can get your rest at night. So if you want to hang at a place youd be proud to take your high-steppin wife, or mistress, girlfriend, or same sex lover, do it in style at the Arco Iris.Stacey Alexander, Crazy Stacey Surf FilmsSent from my iPhone
Very nice and clean and super relaxing
Breath taking and peaceful. Staff was amazing and I greatly appreciated breakfast. Richard, the owner was very down to earth and accommodating. I cant say I have stayed many places in which I have been greeted by the owner on a regular bases. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to the area.
Richard (a former American expatand his hotel was great . Breakfast was amazing and it was a nice, quaint little hotel. Also, I managed to leave a jacket in my hotel room. Richard mailed it back to me in the States!! Exceptional service!
Love this hotel!Owned by a very nice, attentive American expat, this place is located within walking distance to everything. We parked out rental car at the hotel for free and basically just walked everywhere.Complimentary breakfast in the morning was amazing!!! Lots of fresh fruits, omelette bar, granola, yogurt, beans and rice, pancakes and juice. All buffet style so we can go back for 2nd and 3rd all you want. The pool is super nice. Everything is super clean, our room is clean. Service is impeccable!! Cute iguanas roams the grounds. Very cool!!
Good size rooms with AC and nice pool. The restaurant is great with breakfast made to order and in the evening the chef will cook the fish you caught for a very reasonable cost.
Cute little hotel. Rooms are comfortable and clean, set up in several small buildings around a pool, main building and a whole bunch of trees and flowers. Its very close to the downtown area yet its quiet and peaceful, and the staff is friendly.
The service was awful
Amazing! We arrived a day early due to flight disruption (without our luggageand they were able to accommodate us. The owner and staff were extremely helpful in helping us deal with the airline to recover our bags. The room was a great size, nice fixtures and very clean. The pool was very private and often no one else there. The breakfast was awesome, great selection and the Seasons restaurant (located on sitewas by far the best food in town. I would say Hotel Arco Iris was by far the best hotel we stayed at as we toured around Costa Rica… And the best price! Definitely recommend this to anyone staying in Tamarindo ( :
Great boutique hotel only a short walk to the beach and shops of Tamarindo. Located just far enough where you can escape or opt in to partake in downtown Tamarindo. The owner and employees all went above and beyond my expectations for our stay. Having a nice breakfast each morning was an amazing way to start each day. The juices are amazung and the omelettes are made fresh by a very friendly women each day. The pool gives you a great chance to cool off after a long day at the beach or if you opt to hang out there towels and umbrelas are available. Great little pool. Our room was very clean and comfortable and provided a shaded outdoor space to relax and if you want, meet fellow guests. Air conditioning was great and the bathroom updated. Overall a great location for you to consider. Pura Vida!!
The caribe chicken and rice..awesome
