Upgraded rooms add fjord views. Room service is available.Breakfast is complimentary. Other amenities include a cozy TV lounge and a casual bar. Parking is available.
Very cute and modern hotel! Electronic room entry with a code from your email, super easy to check in and access your room. Rooms was cute and bathroom was clean and updated. Shower was small and water kinda gets everywhere when you shower, but it was just a small space so we totally understood. Would definitely use this hotel again in the future!
Outstanding staff: we booked the hotel for a wrong date by accident , they found us upgraded room instead without any extra charge and made our stay very special. Room was small but very well thought through to every detail: cosy and comfy. Hotel is located 2 min away from center of the city and offer free bikes as well. Great concept and very client oriented family business! Well done
Good locationThere is no elevatorThe rooms are very small, dont have enough space for the luggages. Expensive breakfast
We had to wait 20 min for our room "keys" only to discover that there was no hot water. While we were out for dinner, that got fixed. The rooms otherwise were lovely, with a nice view of the fjord. Breakfast turned out to be a challenge; there was not enough space for us and the other tourist group residing in the hotel. There was a confusion about the inclusion of the breakfast, which resulted in the female chef insulting our tour guide and making rude comments towards other guests. The breakfast tasted fine.
Hotel did not email check in information as promised, and no one was present at the front desk to let us on. Once someone showed up to let us in, the room was on the fourth floor with no elevator. The room was small, dark, and had a very low slanted ceiling. It felt like we were staying in the attic. For how expensive this hotel was, it was extremely disappointing.
This hotel was all self checking and self service. Its in a great location though theres no main desk to talk if you need any assistance.
Staying in hotel akuryri is super excellent, even it was booked as we reached ,the admin lady on phone politely spoken and immediate solve our booking issue for 3 person, hotel was clean, nice room comfortable bed, thanks admin and all staff, hope to visit again to akuryri and stay in this hotel..
You would expect this kind of hotel to be in there middle of a capital European city, so its nice to find it in Iceland, and not in Reykjavík.Took down one star as it felt a little cheap with Ikea lights, a crack in the sink and a more.
We stayed here for one night. The check in/out was through computer and easy. Hotel is located in a very convenient area for shopping/restaurants, and the room had a great view of the bay. The bathroom was a little small, but overall it was a great stay. I would stay here again.
Pretty good- really hot at night with super weak portable fans. Not a really good substitute for a hot day, maybe they should up their game. The afternoon / evening bar scene is great, breakfast was continental and buffet style. My group didn’t like it, but I lovingly think they are a bunch of complainers. I took breakfast out where the afternoon bar scene was raging and found a quiet European town with lovely river views, while they for some reason tried to find another breakfast.
It is such a shame that we spent so much time adventuring the day before we checked into Hotel Akureyri, because I feel like it deserved way more attention from us than it got!I immediately got Wes Anderson vibes from the main hotel, which is situated among some tall trees and a spectacular mountain view and faces out onto the water in the harbor. I can just tell so much work was put into the theming of the building we stayed in, and loved the attention to detail paid to the gallery walls as well as the unique movie quotes that hung next to every room (we got a Star Wars one!).I especially loved how classy and modern the all-black interior made it look, and it was a new experience for me to enter my room using just a number pad. This room was by far the comfiest and most beautiful room, and our first with a TV! The blackout curtains were perfect after our late arrival and the bathroom was insanely sleek and futuristic looking with the rainfall showerhead and the backlit mirror. Also, the soap was the absolute best soap Ive ever smelled in my whole life!!The bed was also the most comfortable bed we have maybe ever slept in, and we don’t take that lightly! Overall, for what we paid we got way more than we expected. Akureyri is such a beautiful city and I am thankful to Hotel Akureyri for the positive experience! I would love to come back someday for more than one night.
Great little downtown hotel, it has a great view and the staff went beyond to make the stay enjoyable. The hotel was cozy and the rooms were very clean. The rooms are a bit small compared to more modern hotels and the breakfast is served in the lobby that is a bit small so the breakfast is good but minimal.I recommend going there for great service and nice cozy rooms.
The staff was very friendly and room was clean. The breakfast was the best I had my whole trip. The staff on duty was nice enough to make waffles for everyone. The view from the back of the hotel is pretty dull (hillside), but there was construction around the front so I didnt mind. The room was a bit small for the double bed, but comfortable.
