Im a Nashville born native and your nowhere close to our recipes for hot chicken. I know the original recipes from home. Please come down and experience the real flavor of Moores hot chicken and princess hot chicken since the early 50s and passed down through African American traditions. Stop being an imposter please.

Theyve got the real deal when it comes to Nashville. Spicy chicken. Fried fresh when you order it. A great location, perfect for families or groups- lots of tables and plenty of room to spread out.The sides are good as well-- waffles, french fries, and banana pudding. The restaurant is upstairs above all the other booths in the market. Definitely worth a trip if youre in the area and like spicy chicken.

Hot chicken takeover is the best Nashville hot chicken I have had! I have been to multiple hot chicken take over locations this is the original this is the one to go to great service great people Edit post covid the price are soaring and the portions are shrinking hopefully this is not permanent!!!

AMAZING hot chicken just like the kind Id eat in Nashville! Great fries as well in a cool atmosphere. Definitely my favorite place to eat in North Market and maybe in all of Columbus. Love that they let you split flavors! Definitely recommend everyone check this place out.

Yeah I dont understand the hype at all. Place seemed dirty when we walked inside and had a strange atmosphere. The food came out warm, not hot, and it wasnt very good. Chicken was dry, the waffles had a spongy inedible texture and bad flavor, and the Mac n cheese was congealed and cold. If you want good fast casual hot chicken stick to Hattie Bs.

I really want to give this last experience a 3.5 even though the food was decent the chicken was Ok the Mac was kinda cold Definitely needed pepper and the waffles had no crisp, kind of felt like eating a wet sponge wont try those again I would let all that slide but for delivery with no tip I paid 25.00 and you cant blame the app because 3 tenders is 14 dollars! Which isnt even a meal 3 tenders and a scoop of Mac is 18 bucks smh for those prices I personally expect a perfect order atleast I use to order every but time for a break again until the old quality comes back or these prices drop

Some of the best, most flavorful chicken I’ve eaten that wasn’t home cooked. And the staff is lovely :)

The chicken is really good!! I get the thighs "hot" which is not quite hot enough for my liking but the "holy" is soooooo salty I just rather enjoy my chicken with a lil kick. The coleslaw is a good compliment to the spice and the fries are just right!

Some of the staff is awesome and friendly, and some of the staff clearly doesnt want to be there.The food isnt the cheapest, but if you like hot chicken, its worth it. Orders came up relatively fast considering how busy it was.

We were in Columbus almost 7 or 8 years ago when we seen this place at North Market but they were closed so we didnt get a chance to try it. Finally went back and got the 2 chicken legs in medium with a side of Mac. This was the best chicken I ever had honestly. The breading was thick and crispy and the sauce had a little kick but not too spicy. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. And dont get me started on that ranch dressing. The ranch dressing is like the ranch from HomeTown Buffet. Im not sure if they use that same brand or if they make it homemade but either way its some good ranch! The Mac an cheese was a little dry so I dont know if its normally like that or if it was because we went 15 minutes before they closed but even with it being dry, it had the best flavor. It was so good we were going to go to another location before leaving town but the one we went to (near skyline chiliwas apparently closed down and not there anymore. So dont try to go to the one on the map thats in a plaza close to skyline or you will be disappointed. Highly recommend stopping in to try this chicken and mac.

The customer service was non existent. The order was in correct.Dont know if they wete waitng on chicken but what they gave was not cold, burned my mouth. No slaw had to go ask for it;No sorry we missed it and i had 3 people walk past the window I was at and i finally got the attention of one of the teens working there.The only yhing good about this place was the leomonade..since they didnt bottle it the cant screw that up.

Had the hot tender basket with mac and coleslaw, also tried the fries my wife got and everything was great and seemed very homemade. The service was good and all of the employees were very nice. The ranch was amazing they should bottle and sell it. My wife said the banana pudding was the best she ever had, I tried it and agree. Its not often you go somewhere and they do everything right, highly recommend, wish they were closer to where I live.

Hats off to Hot Chicken Takeover! The food was delicious, reasonably priced and the service was steller. Scott at the register is a GEM, as is all the staff that was working the morning of Saturday, July 23rd. MANAGEMENT keep this crew together they are a winning combination.

They might be great if you order in person but I recommend against ordering from this place through a third party i.e. ubereats or doordash. Have tried a few times and the order has only ever been right with all things I paid for accounted for once. Sometimes it is just missing flatware or ranch (even if you pay for extrasometimes a whole food item or three will be missing. The food is good, what of it you actually get, but their ability to deliver on what you order is seriously lacking.

My first time at hot chicken was nice .. I had the warm sandwich with Mac and cheese. I even took some home for my girls they all love the chicken tenders and fries ..I promised to bring them in one day to eat in dinning room ..they said they love the chicken its the best!

I will be up in Columbus Saturday cant wait to try it. Well we went the chicken was good the sides were horrible the Mac and cheese tasted old and the slaw didnt have dressing on it how do you make Cole slaw with no dressing

Good chicken, could use better sides to compliment, though the mac and cheese is good. Too expensive by about 5 bucks for the tender meal with slaw and baked beans. Flavor in the warm chicken and meat quality is great. I go every other weekend working downtown

I went there for the first time not long ago, the food was amazing and my server Kaylee Fisher was amazing! She was fast paste and made sure I didnt need for nothing. Was on top of everything. I really recommend the place just because of her service! I was very satisfied I had to ask her name just so I can give her a review

This was a great sandwich. I had the heat just below the top and it was hot, but not overpowering. The bun is just OK, and I took off about half the coleslaw, but the chicken was juicy and had an excellent texture and flavor.

Me and my family have only been their twice and it has been EXCELLENT everytime, we tell all of our friends and family about this place and that if they ever go to Ohio they NEED to go their! Some of the best chicken in Columbus! It is cooked to absolute perfection, nice and crispy, and is one of my favorite stops at north market. Their fries and banana pudding is also really good!!

Came here for some dinner and had the most amazing customer service from Megan here at the north market district. I had ordered the warm chicken sandwich and it was sadly far to hot for me, and I love spicy food so I was sad but didnt want to have it sent back or thrown out but Megan was amazing, she actually got me a cold sandwich since I couldnt handle the warm. I was willingto tell her Ill pay for a whole new thing but Megan was able to get me a new meal for free because I couldnt eat the warm. So if yall come to North market hot chicken takeover definitely give Megan a amazing tip and enjoy your experience at the place. You will love it.

First timer today and I had a wonderful experience. Amber the cashier was very kind. Had a malfunction with my gift card and Kevin the manager gave me his management meal. The food is excellent too! Mac and cheese is to die for! My chicken is crunchy and juicy! Def will be back!!!! If you haven’t checked it out for sure do so!

Great place for a good meal. Try the lags but you better get there early they only have a limited amount. 2022 edit to an old review. This place is slower then a Mcdees.. waited an 45 mins for a simple order as they put out an order every 5 to 10 minutes but dont have any problem taking your order and not telling you how long its going.to be.

By far the friendliest staff and best chicken in Ohio!! The fries were fresh and better than fair fries! The mac & cheese was cheesy and delicious! And the sweet tea took the hot off your pallet ,

Words cannot express how impressed I am that the North Market location continues to provide good service starting from management to crew. They are always friendly and helpful, along with good quality food. The store is kept clean. This will forever by my preferred location. Continue the good work and good service! Clintonville restaurant has the best service. The manager Christina came out to check on our order because a party of 21 people ordered right after us. The new chicken tenders and fries are amazing. Thank you Christina for doing such a good job.

Decided to try the North market this time rather than in clintonville. Chicken was great as usual, but today they introduced french fries, spicy ketchup, and spicy ranch.My favorite is the wings spiced holy, mac and cheese, and their beans. Today I decided to try their french fries. Normally I dont care for french fries, but I liked theirs. A lot of that might have had to do with the spicy ketchup. Just a hint of spice at least to my taste, but I ate things pretty spicy.With new ownership, you get one thing of ranch for free and then you have to pay for extra. Tea is no longer free with your meal, you pay a dollar for a tea and then get free refills.

I had a holy @#$& chicken sandwich, some mac and cheese, and bread pudding here. The chicken sandwich was pretty spicy, but its normal spicy for anyone that eats foreign food. The mac and cheese was good, and cheesy. The bread pudding was really sweet and had good chunks in it. The chicken itself, was very thick, it had taken me many bites to finish. I put their ranch sauce on top of the chicken sandwich which tasted good. I would recommend the chicken sandwich to anyone that is looking for a lunch in the area. I will definitely be coming back for another meal.

Spicy vegan nuggets are so good!! I get the warm ones and they are still pretty hot! I love that they havemeat free options. Their Mac n cheese is also so so yummy!!

Was told coming to the North Market while visiting Columbus was a must since theres so many merchants and restaurants to choose from. Of those, they recommended Hot Chicken Takeover, so I gave it a try. Ive had Nashvilles hot chicken before, so wasnt sure how authentic this would be. It was almost closing time at 3p, so there were only a few people at the approx. 6 tables inside. If its ever crowded, you can sit at the common upstairs eating area above the market. Cashier was polite and helpful in placing my order. At the end, they take your name and call your name when your order is ready.Ordered the 4 drums with hot heat and a side of Mas Mac. Also, ordered a side of waffles and the banana pudding for dessert. Food was ready within 5-10 minutes and was extremely fresh. Chicken and waffles were still piping hot and steaming when they came out. Chicken was served on a few slices of bread and pickles on top. Chicken was amazing and much better than I couldve imagined. This was the real deal. It was extremely crispy on the outside while still extremely juicy on the inside. The heat was there, but not overbearing where it overtakes the actual seasoning. I will try the Holy heat next time to see if thats too much heat. The waffles were just as good. It was 3 small triangles slightly dusted in powdered sugar. They were very crisp with a sweet flavor, but not so much that it tasted like a dessert. They went well with the chicken like a chicken and waffles meal. The banana pudding was very good. I couldnt pinpoint it, but it had a specific sweet flavor that was different than the sweet pudding or custard. Its served in a cup with layers of pudding, custard, banana, whipped cream, and topped with crumbles. I mixed it all up for a nice mix of flavors and textures.Highly recommend going to Hot Chicken Takeover and not just for one thing. Chicken was amazing which you can customize to your heat tolerance. Waffles were a good side item that complements the chicken. Lastly, the banana pudding was a great dessert to finish the meal.

My wife and I were driving through and stopped to check out this place. This is the best hot chicken we’ve had since visiting Nashville. Definitely a must try for anyone, I would highly recommend. The flavor and seasoning on the chicken is really really good. We need one of these in Michigan!

Definitely not what you would expect from a chicken place. I was pretty thrown off, my chicken sandwich was made with crumbling bread (see picture). Chicken was dry and Mac and cheese didn’t have much taste. Baked beans were good, but overall, $30 for 2 meals, wish I would’ve known it was going to come with cheap bread that has no taste and was already falling apart before I even got to it... That’s not even a sandwich..... Very disappointed.

I stop here every time I’m in town. Not only is it great chicken, but the sides are pretty dope as well.Staff is friendly and informative. Can’t wait to see you guys again!

Made to order HOT chicken with nice service in a simple but clean and nice facility. Drinks and sides are included so the ordering process is easy. We asked for a sample of the Hot and they brought our table a chicken leg each to try. Very friendly people. The beans and slaw are good. The Mac and cheese is a little grainy but overall it was a really nice experience. Take an early lunch because the line gets long and they do run out of chicken.

I ordered cold dark meat with baked beans, mac and cheese, and waffles. The sides were eatable. I really enjoyed the waffles. The chicken was pretty good. Overall, I probably would not come here again for awhile. Just not for me.

This place has a phenomenal chicken sandwich! It was huge and delicious! I normally dont like slaw on my sandwiches but theres wasnt so runny and the pickles added good salt! The sides were pretty good too. The free sweet tea was a nice touch. The epitome of down home eating.

This is my first time trying Hot Chicken Takeover, and I’m so glad I did! It was everything the hype says it is! I got the sandwich meal and chose”hot” for my heat level, and it was spicy but doable! The wonder bread as the buns for the sandwich was an interesting choice! The chicken was moist, very flavorful, and delicious! The Mac and cheese side was okay, nothing extraordinary. The staff was very friendly and service was super fast. The seating area is huge with cafeteria style tables with benches! Highly recommended if you’re in Columbus!

Went to North Market today OH MY GOSH!!! Heard about this chicken and Mac & cheese YES!!! Have to go and try they put the seasoning in a ziplock baggy with the chicken and literally bang the heck out of it with a pot on a counter. It is so moist— recommendations warm unless you want to sweat with the hot spice. It’s delicious!!!

This is located on the second floor of North Market. Yes, there is a second floor! Even though it doesnt look like it. There are picnic tables for you to sit, which is pretty cute.Its pretty simple to order. Pick the part of chicken you want, the spiciness, and any add-ons you want. Also, there is a limited amount of chicken pieces. There are two chalkboard counters telling you what is sold out and how many pieces total are left (for the week I believe). AND their teas are FREEEEEEE. They are lined up next to the cashier for you to choose. Then a condiments and utensils counter. Followed by the pick up counter.My order came quick! I barely had time to pick my utensils because I was busy figuring which tea I wanted (sweetened/unsweetened/water). I ordered the lil chick. It comes with a side of mac n cheese or slaw. I chose mac n cheese which was salty and had been sitting out in room temp for a bit. But thats ok. The chicken drumsticks I chose was a bit spicy, which is how I like it. It comes with bread (or waffles on the weekend)If you buy a tshirt, you get a coupon for a free meal.Will definitely come again!!!***update***Came back the next day and got the sandwich meal. Boy, was that a lot of food. Comes with FOUR slices of bread, coleslaw, TWO servings of mac n cheese.Soooo yummy!!!!

This place is amazing. Im sad after living in Columbus for most of my life I just discovered Hot chicken takeover! Great homemade southern style chicken. The macaroni and cheese is the BEST! If you love fried chicken you absolutely have to eat here. The staff is so so nice and helpful. In most restaurants its rare that the staff will actually come up to you and have a conversation. The line can get very long at times especially on the weekends. As well as it can be difficult to find an open seat. A lot of people are complaining about the price. I think the price is point is fair. I always get the 4 drums meal with the included drink ($10.50and I always leave with a full belly. If yall want cheap chicken go to McDonalds™!

Nashville hot chicken... Crispy spicy chicken served on 2 slices of white bread that soaks in the sauce, with a few slices of crunchy pickles. Water, tea and ranch is free and unlimited. Bread pudding is delicious and a great way to cool down your mouth. Get here early because they make limited quantities and they run out quickly! Staff are helpful and friendly! Everything was so delicious we had to come back the next day on our vacation!!! TIP: call ahead and you can walk up to the pick up line, instead of waiting in line to order!
