Hostel Margouya Patagonia - in Puerto Varas, Chile
Hostel Margouya Patagonia in Puerto Varas
Description
MoreGreat hostel with a very nice Ambiente. Also very close to the city center
beautiful building, very nice interior, spacious kitchen free to use and comfortable community areas. comfortable beds, clean and many bathrooms. very friendly staff. good location (5 minutes to city center). wifi worked very well. possibility of free luggage storage. they also offer laundry service. the only thing we didn’t like was that there a no heating possibilities in the rooms so it can get quite cold, the community areas however were warm.
MoreClean, friendly and good vibe!
Great place, cozy, warm. Spacious and clean rooms and bathroom. Great kitchen. Amazing patio if sunny outside. Great price. Absolutely recommend!
MoreHermosa casa, habitaciones amplias y cómodas, limpieza impecable! Cocina, living y baño a compartir hermosos y siempre limpios. Ubicación excelente: muy cerca caminando del centro, playa, terminal de buses y transporte público. Nos encantó!! No nos daban ganas de irnos de tan a gusto que nos sentimos, gracias Pierre!!!
MoreGreat place run by a great host. Thanks to the whole team at MaPatagonia for their hospitality. The Christmas Eve barbecue was amazing and we felt super comfortable! Highly recommended!
Moreloved this hostel. they have an award for the best hostel in south america from hostelworld and i definitely see why! a beautiful old building that has been converted into a perfect cozy hostel. we stayed in a private room for a great price but there’s also dorms. a huge kitchen. many clean bathrooms. lots of love has gone into making this place what it is and i highly recommend
MoreIts been the fourth time in this hostel now because its definitely one of the best among all the beautiful things in Puerto Varas! It feels like home when I get there and the amazing hostel staff is welcoming warmly and like an old friend. Everytime I brought different friends with me and all of them said its the best hostel theyve been in during their travel in South America. Thank you so much for being so great!!!
MoreNice place aesthetically, helpful staff, but the walls are wafer thin
i enjoyed it
Amazing staff, nice cabin like room. They organised a trek to Osorno Volcan. An experience out of this world.
MoreReally good place! From the coffee to the bikes, its all quality. But the best thing is the ambiance. The place invites interaction and its easy to meet other backpackers here
MoreThe most comfortable hostel Ive ever been!Very Clean and REALLY COZY! Just Amazing!!!!Big thank you for my staying and amazing time here.
MoreYes it is probably the best hostel in Chile. It is very clean and the service is awesome. It can happen, that you read something in the living room or in front of the chimney and the owner brings you a cup of great coffee (for free)! It is big, but the staff is very kind and will help you with everything! The style combined modernity and old charm. If you visit Puerto Varas, you must sleep here.
MoreOne of the best hostels I have ever stayed in. It’s a beautiful historical building and the rooms are really nice. We got a room with volcano view :Wifi: very fast and if it’s not working properly, they will make sure it gets fixed and put up a small note downstairs, letting you know that they are aware of it and fixing it. The kitchen has everything you need (including sharp knifes!!and the small fireplace is a very nice touch. Staff is incredibly friendly. Pierre could teach many other hostels how to run a business. Highly recommended place!
MoreI stayed here for a couple of days recently and had a great time. The owner Pierre goes out of his way to make sure everyone is comfortable and he runs a pretty tight ship with his staff. Tours run from the hostel and the volcano tour is stunning but be aware it is not for the faint hearted. Hostel was clean and very safe. Great place and I hope to go back again.
MoreMy friend and I are delighted, the house is wonderful, the bathrooms are very clean, they welcome you with a smile. The receptionists are wonderful, the girl in the morning ailen is very nice and the girl of the night mery is very tender always smiled and showed us what we could do in Puerto Varas, the kitchen has many things to use just missing breakfast in the morning and tour of the volcano more oftenWE WILL BE BACK!
MoreOne of the best Hostels ever
excellent hostelThe receptionist at night is beautiful and very attentive, we loved how she treated me and my girlfriend. The hostel is very clean and makes you feel at home, we could not meet the manager because he was traveling. But we hope to return!
MoreWe really loved our stay at Pierres wonderful hostel, an old Patagonian house. Very well maintained, clean, and the furniture and decoration are nice and cozy. Especially the redecoration of the womens bathroom was highly appreciated. Pierre organizes great tours, such as the "hike up, bike down" tour of volcano Osorno we did; it was amazing! Because of Pierres nice attitude his hospitality, and the nice staff, you really feel welcome and at home. Pierre, thank you very much and we hope you like the chocolates we accidentally left!
MoreThe house is ver nice and staff are friendly. The place is clean and useful. The negative point is that I needed to change my pillow and they told me that it not possible.
MoreClearly the best place we stayed to in Chile.Very nice owner speaking fluent French English and Spanish and willing to give tons of advice. Very cozy house, very comfy beds, and warm atmosphere. 200% recommended.
MoreVery nice people, its very close to the lake and the busses
Today i was been questioned using other s shampoo and washer. I swear I never touch others belongings. The Staff who works there as a volunteer asked me why I used her shampoo and her soap again!!!??!! WHF She was nice to me at he first day then after one day she became cold because she thought I am using her things these days!! So angry. Today is my last day, after I came out of the toilet she didnt asked me "Did you touch or use my shampoo and soap?" instead she asked me "why you are using my staff!!Again?!?" So funny. She treated me as a thief, as a homeless!! Such a awful moment, I should have a evidence there. She did apologize to me, but It doesnt mean I feel okay. I am so angry and upset even time past 6 hours. Saying again, I had a worst experience there but I didnt say it is the worst hostel. The hostel is beautiful and comfortable. Except her, other staffs are very helpful, friendly집이 이뻐서 지나가다가 노크해서 들어옴, ㅈㄴ 추움!还好,不提供早饭觉得好可惜
Moreloved this place! One of the most homey hostels we stayed at during our four month trip. The house is old and beautiful, and the hostel has a social (but not at all "party"atmosphere. People were watching movies, preparing food, and planning outings together in the cozy living room.
MoreFrom the minute you arrive you feel like a guest at someones home. You get a map where everything important of the city is marked. Furthermore you get very good recommendations about the stuff you can do in the nature in that region. I recommend doing a tour to hike up the volcano anf bike down with a bike. You can book that experience in the hostel an it’s worth every peso. It is very good to stay at the hostel even when it’s raining. They have a small oven with a sofa in front of it which is very comfy. Also the beds a very good and your sheets are changed every single day. You can use everything even after you checked out until you have to leave. I would recommend that hostel to a friend
MoreThis is one of the best hostels we have ever stayed at. It’s a very beautiful, welcoming space, has everything you would need and is in a great location.
MoreSuper nice for the price. Friendly staff and usually populated by an interesting group of travelers.
MoreStayed in the private room in their 2nd building. It is double the size of normal private rooms in hostels but unfortunately only shared bathroom option available (only a problem in the morning since all 3 washrooms have showers which means no toilet until they finishThe back garden is great and they have a bbq with plenty of firewood...perfect in the summer! Decent sized kitchen with new equipment. Staff were all friendly and happy to add to the atmosphere.
MoreProblem with original booking was quickly resoloved. Rooms are clean and decent size. Shared bathrooms are well ewuiped and clean. Staff are eager to help and multilingual. In addition there is a large well equipped shared kitchen
MoreMy room was fantastic, being fitted out with a fireplace, security locker and a powerpoint right next to the bed. The staff are very friendly and happy to help with whatever they can. I found it very easy to meet people in the common room or in the kitchen. Overall great facilities, wifi is strong, good location close to the town center. I would stay here again
Moretop !
Clean, well managed, helpful and reasonable prices. Also a delightfully historic building.
MoreHidden gem, we booked this place blind, showed up and it was outstanding, we only stayed one night, wish we stayed longer. Kitchen was excellent, rooms spacious. Stay for a few days and discover the town
MoreAmazing hostal! The house is beautiful and cozy. The atmosphere was great and full of good backpacking vibes ;We really enjoyed our stay here. We met nice people and Pierre, the owner, is warm and kind. We discussed a lot with him about Chile, Puerto Varas, travels, etc. This place is more than a hostal, its a meeting point of human being.
MoreBooked a private room with a female friend because of the many good reviews. Initially booked for one day and on arrival we were asked to confirm before the evening if we would be staying a second night. After having a chance to look around town briefly, we decided we would not stay and informed the pleasant British woman that was working there. We did need to use the computers to find ourselves a hostal for the next destination and it was only available in the main house (rooms at this hostel are in two separate building a one minute walk apart from each otherand only until 11pm. We were heading out for dinner, but the woman working there assured us that as long as we arrived before 11pm, it would be no problem for us to keep using the computer until after that time. When we arrived at the main house after dinner at 10:30pm, the door was locked, so we rang the doorbell. A short, dark haired woman with a French accent appeared and asked what we wanted. We explained that we were there to use the computer, but she said it was too late in the night for that. We tried to explain what the other woman had told us, but she would not listen and was quite rude in her mannerism. Among other things, she accussed us of having cancelled a reservation on little notice (absolutely not true), of being aggressive (it seems she took my foot being up one step as we were standing talking to her on the front steps as a sign of aggressionand just seemed to have misunderstanding after misunderstanding. Unfortunately, it turned out that she was the part owner of the hostal, so we had nobody else to turn to. Amazingly, she would not even let us in and allow us to use the computer until 11pm, the normal time posted on the wall.We went back to our own building and out of our frustration explained what had just happened to the other hostal guests. An American woman who was staying there told us about a similar experience with the same woman earlier that day. Clearly, there was a pattern here. As I am Canadian and my accent likely indistinguishable from an American accent for someone whos not a native speaker, we couldnt help but wonder if there was some sort of anti-American sentiment at play here by this French woman. The next day, we packed up and went to the main house and saw the British woman again and explained the whole encounter from the night before. We explained it in enough detail that it should have been clear for anyone over-hearing that we clearly had not done anything wrong and that the accusations by the French lady clearly mistaken. To our surprise, the French woman appeared in the room and said she had been listening to the whole conversation, and rather than offer an apology, she started to yell at us and continue the same nonesense as before. The rest of the exhange went downhill quickly, shockingly ending with her demanding that we leave the hostal immediately (we were packed and just needed to use the computeror that she would call the police! It became quite obvious to us and the British woman who worked there that we were not the issue and that this woman was suffering from some sort of mental issue at the time. We obviously got our bags and left immediately, but this horrible experience was one that we felt we must share. The hostal itself is nice, and there are good things about it, but nothing could possibly make up for a host whos that unhospitable and disrespectful.
MoreSuper clean, friendly staff, big kitchen and great comfortable chairs by the fire
MoreVery clean rooms, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Good kitchen facilities.
We had such a good experience in this hostel, so much more than I expected! We went from a 2 nights reservation to a 5 nights because it was too good to leave. Very well located, super clean - i love their rule to take off shoes when entering the shower, it makes everything so much cleaner and cosier and above all, great vibes all around. Do try the tours, they make Puerto Varas and the surroundings even better! I couldnt recommend this place highly enough!
MoreVery nice place to stay! Especially the kitchen was in a very good condition, all the equipment is there. Bedrooms and bathrooms were both clean and in a good condition too. Just a bar in the hostel would have been nice, seen it in a couple of hostels I stayed before. But Id still recommend this place to everybody!
MoreBrilliant place. I stayed here back in 2014 and keep recommending the place to friends visiting PV. Bicycle hire, torus and good accommodation (clean and social).
